[Q] I cant decide which phone to get next? - General Questions and Answers

Hi! Im due an upgrade on my O2 contract but cant decide which phone to go for, i have an HTC One X at the moment and am considering either a HTC One, a Samsung Galaxy S4, a LG G2 or Iphone 5s. I dont really use my phone AS A PHONE more as a camera, media player, internet/facebook browser etc, so each of the other phones have thier pros and cons when compared to my ONE X,
HTC ONE
Pros: Cons:
faster, camera not as good (imo)
more memory,
better screen,
better speakers.
Samsung Galaxy S4
faster
more memory screen not as good as HTC ONE
better screen speakers not as good as HTC ONE
better camera plasticky build?
microSD card support
LG G2
Speedy cpu (faster than S4 and ONE) bit of an unknown to me?
(Are LG phones any good normally?)
more memory plasticky build
better camera volume and lock buttons are on the back?!
Iphone 5s
nice build screen not as hd or as big as others
faster (64bit cpu) camera not as good as others
more memory unless jailbroken limited customization options
slo-mo video!
Bigger selection of apps (some exclusive to ios?)
lol, basically i want a phone that has the speed of the LG G2 (or possibly the 64bit cpu of the iphone 5s), with the speakers and screen of the HTC ONE, the memory of the Galaxy s4 or HTC ONE with the slo-mo video recording of the Iphone 5s! which would you guys n gals recommend? im not asking y'all to decide for me rather offer opinions to maybe help me decide?
ta in advance!

go for s4, it suites your needs....

[Q] [POLL] Desire HD, Galaxy S, standard Desire or wait?

should i got for the desire HD with its poor battery life but blazing performance,
the galaxy S that feels like a toy and hope froyo (not in UK yet) fixes its problems,
or buy a desire with its (now) outdated processor but large and probably long lasting community support?
or should i just wait until something the size of the desire comes out with the processor from the desire HD?
only 1 vote and no replies? i feel unloved
It might just be me, but I don't trust Samsung with phones. As opposed to HTC, their phones feel like toys, and although they're sometimes more powerful, they're not supported for very long. Basically, it's bleeding edge (at least hardware-wise) vs quality. And by quality I mean not only build quality but also how long the device is supported for by the manufacturer and what you can do with it afterwards.
HTC phones are usually top-quality devices, the first to get rooted, have the best third-party interface (Sense) which btw can be removed. The Galaxy S phones are powerful, but Touchwiz adds no functionality when compared to Sense (which adds a LOT) and Samsung doesn't have a good track record of updating their phones often. Look at the Behold II. Look at the current US Galaxy S phones. It's the reason I chose an HTC Evo over a Samsung Epic (Galaxy S with a keyboard, dual cameras, and WiMax). On top of that the Galaxy S phones haven't even gotten 2.2 yet here in US and have a number of hardware issues, one being the GPS.
By no means am I saying the Galaxy S phones are bad, it's just that you'd get more out of an HTC device. My mother and sisters own the Samsung Intercept, which is supposed to be the successor to the Moment. It's in fact a downgrade in every way except the keyboard. But I'm not going to go into that. I say wait till Christmas or get a Desire HD.
Well right now I'll choose the Galaxy S phone because it's the best android phone right now but wait because in this times (November, December, January) alot of phones arrive and maybe a better one comes
As I hate the low resolution of AMOLED screens...
Desire HD
Desire
Galaxy S

[Q] Best Mid Range Android Phone

I would like some suggestions on which low to mid ranged Android phone I should purchase. Here are the specs:
Screen: 3.2 to 3.7"
CPU: 600MHz or faster
Keyboard: Does not matter
Camera: 3.2MP or better, would like a flash.
Brand: Does not matter
My short list:
#1 Motorola Defy: I like that it is rugged. I read mixed reviews on camera quality. I hear it has a faulty earpiece design.
#2 HTC Wildfire: Nice build quality. Optical mouse. CPU only 528MHz. Low Res display.
#3 SE A8: I could do better.
What about LG optimus? I know it officialy doesnt run a Flash, but it is the best one in your range
You should have a look for a second hand HTC Desire, good phone. It's maybe abit more then mid range but if you could pick one up for cheap you would love it.
Ended up buying the HTC Wildfire. Would have loved the Desire but it was out of my price range.
You must choose wisely...
I'd go for a second hand Desire, or an Optimus One!
I too am looking for a similar conf.
I have decided to go for the Samsung Galaxy Ace. Check the conf at gsmarena and let me know if it meets ur reqs.
BTW I'm getting this in a week's time from now
wildfire is gud, But this one has a better processor.
Hi everyone! I am new here and I am looking for help on whether I should get the Samsung Galaxy Ace or the LG Optimus One. I heard that the Optimus One is very solid compared to the Ace. I need help in choosing which one I should get. The most important feature for me is smooth and fast mobile browsing. Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks!
Sounds like the Optimus phones.

[Q] Nexus S vs. Xperia Arc

Hello everyone, I'm going to upgrade from my Galaxy 5 to some other Android device, and I have 1.000 R$ ( 570 US dollars ) to spend on a new smartphone. Here on Brazil with that money you can buy a Nexus S, a Xperia Arc or a Motorola Atrix. So I don't know which one to choose. The Xperia Arc is gorgeous, thin, has a great camera and a bigger display, the Nexus S will be receiving most of the updates right after their release, has a front facing camera and a Super Amoled screen, while the Atrix is.. well.. meh. So, which of those do you recommend for me to choose as my smartphone for the next 2 years? Also, I watch A LOT of TV shows on my smartphone, i'm a pretty hardcore gamer and I listen to music constantly on my Galaxy 5, so the phone must have nice media capabilities.
Thanks!
man , you are asking in Nexus S section, so , sure , your answer would be Nexus S,
if you ask in their section , sure you have answer of their section.
personal idea , i suggest wait for another moth or so , wait for Galaxy Nexus , and then you can sell you Galaxy 5 to get some money , plus your 570 USD , almost there ...
yes sure nexus s is the best try it, sory for my bad eng
If you go for the design, get a Xperia Arc
If you go for a lot more performance, definitely get a Nexus S.
Or just wait and spare some money for the Galaxy Nexus / Nexus Prime.
the Galaxy S2 will share a lot of similarities to the galaxy nexus, and their price has already dropped a lot since launch... perhaps that is one option to consider as well?
My friend has the ark and I have a nexus s, my nexus outperforms the Ark in everything except for the camera, he is a bit annoyed at how slow it is.

Possible new phone advice

I have been using this phone for 3 years now and think it is time to move on. I have been given a good deal on a moto g 4g and wondered if anyone can think of a reason not to move. It's a similar spec phone with quad core instead of dual. Has a smaller camera tho.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers

I have the One (M7) for a year now and I have to say for a 2 year old phone, it really holds it's build quality. The speakers are amazing, the screen is crystal clear and it has Lollipop + Sense 6. We won't get Sense 7 officially but I'm 100% sure we will get a very functional port of Sense 7. The only downside is the camera. If your not too concerned about that then I think you should go for it. If not, I would suggest the Moto G (2014) or the Sony Xperia Z1/Z3 Compact, you can't go wrong with any of them
If you really liked you One S, you can go to something similar like the M8, or if you can wait for a couple of days, get your hands on the new HTC One M9.
One good reason to wait: wait for a real new ARM64 phone. The Moto G 4G (2014) is still a SnapDragon 400 with Krait cores I believe, so nothing really new from our One S.
I would wait for a cheap Motorola with ARM64 cores for less than 200$.

We already have a thread talk about this.
Moto G 4G is real a very bad choice, only a 4.5" 720P, S400, 1G ram, 8GB rom(though with microSD slot). Nothing real better and camera is a downgrade to 5MP.
I'm still using One S as a spare phone and upgraded to Sony Z1 Compact since last year. If budget is a major concern, you should get Z1c because it is cheap now should only a bit expensive than Moto G 4G but with a hardware much much better(4.3" 720P, S800, 2G ram, 16GB, microSD, LTE, 20MP camera, IPX67, 2300mah). Lollipop got delayed but will arrive on this phone probably around May/June.
But since now I've two small phones, I think it's too many. I'm going to sell out Z1c and upgrade again in April/May sometimes and give Galaxy S6 a try because the phone is quite small and slim this time to the 5.1" size.
If you have more money then get Sony Z3 Compact with bigger screen(4.6" but still same size with Z1c and One S), battery life and camera is even more better. If you can wait for like half year, Z4c will probably out on Sep.
I have used one S for 3 years too.
It's my first android phone, and I have a good time with it.
A lot of great developers have worked on this phone, they become a story!
I think Oneplus ONE is a great phone.
HTC M9 is great too!
3 years here also
i want to move to the new phone too. thinkng about new nexus or wait for the new LG
I'm going to buy a new phone in my summer vacation......Probably OnePlus

[Q] Buy a good phone

Hi Good day
I want the best phone I bought this list:
samsung galaxy s5
sony xperia z3
LG G3
But do not know which one is better.
Please tell me which of these three is the best?
Thank you
GS 5 Good camera, amoled screen, removable battery, water proof?,+samsung gimmicks
Z3 Good camera, good batery life, water proof, decent design
G3 Quad HD, Cheaper than Z3 or GS 5, decent design, removable battery, decent camera, big phone.
Negatives:
GS 5 Samsung Knox, plastic,bloatware
Not removable battery, prone to scratches because of glass sandwich
Locked bootloader, Mediocre battery life
Choose one, all of them are good phones.
1. Sony Xperia z3
2. LG G3
3. Samsung Galaxy S5
Thank you friends.
Please give me more tips.

You can really just flip a coin to choose (assuming you can find a 3 sided coin). G3 has the bigger screen and best scree-to-size ratio and probably the best camera. It has the benefit of SD card slot and removable battery, but no waterproofness, which the other 2 have. With Samsung you're stuck with TouchWiz and a GB less RAM, so it won't perform as well in real-life (meaning outside of synthetic benchmarks). The Sony has the best battery life, but without the removable battery, and the front facing speakers are great for media consumption.
1. Z3
2.LG G3
3.Samsung Galaxy S5
Between Lg G3 and galaxy note 4 Which do you like?
Each of these 2 would be better to buy.
Isure buy one of these phones you please tell me.
Thank you very much

Well it depends on what you want, but if photos matter to you choose the Note 4.
Just in case look at this comparation and think what do you need more. http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-4,LG-G3/phones/8577,8347
Hi
Sony Xperia z3 is best phone.
Gotta go with LG G3
Good screen, decent battery life, good screen to body ratio, great speakers, good development
To not open another thread have similair question:
I am upgrading from Galaxy S3 and I have some options trough my provider which ensures me a cheaper deal and this are:
- Galaxy A5
- Galaxy S5
- Z3
- G3
I am leaning towards A5 since its metal and alot cheaper then other 3, but I heard it has bad CPU and can't switch battery, is it really that much worse then the others? Would an A5 even be considered an "upgrade" over my S3?
The Note 4 is the king of the phablets and the most powerful device on the current market. If you're considering it, it's truly a brilliant device.
The G3 is a flagship phone, the Note 4 is highest-end device. Comparing them isn't really fair, as Flagships aren't the highest end devices.

The A5 is almost identical to the S3. Not worth it, and indeed you can't change the battery. The A3 is a mid-low range device.
For the others it's a matter of preference. What features are most important to you?

Well I really like Note 4 but I am afraid it might be too big for me, I remember when I had the first Note, I was struggling to use it for let's say when I had to quickly make a call during driving or taking it out of pockets or such. To me tough most important is the battery life, good camera\video, no lagging - quickness of making calls. Note 4 kindof fits my description it's really perfect - but the size. If it was just a little bit smaller :\ I guess I might have to wait another month or two for the S6.
The Galaxy S5 is 5.1" and IP67 Certified aka it's waterproof, the others you mention don't have that kind of protection, USB3.0, removable battery, a better 16MP camera with OIS.
The 5.5" LG G3 doesn't have much development for custom ROMS (if I'm wrong, pls correct me) even though it has a bigger screen then the S5, and both supports microSDXC to 128GB and have Snapdragon 801 chips.
The Sony smartphone is a good device but again in my eyes, Sony fell behind and they're having a hard time coming back up.
I always tell users to look at the whole picture and if in doubt just walk into any store and personally test the forementioned devices you're inquiring about in your first post.
Hope this helps a little.
Sony Xperia is the best chocie according to me. Next Samsung S5 and then LG.
