US Radio bands - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The LTE bands have been discussed quite a bit, but do we know which 2G/3G bands the US version will support? I'm not always in an LTE area

GSM will be quad band standard (850/900/1800/1900) and pentaband DC-HSPA+ (850/900/1700/1900/2100). Same as the N4.

which 3g bands SGH-T959V has?

Hi all
I just bought new unlocked Samsung Galaxy S 4G (SGH-T959V) on the internet and before to talking to possible providers I got confused about its 3G bands. I've got two specs with different bands:
one says it has 1700/1900/2100 (e.g. see pdadb.net)
another says it has only 1700/2100.
How do I check which 3G bands my phone really has? Is there any way to check it using the phone itself? Like test software or something?
Thank you
From http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_4g-3719.php
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 1700 / 2100
Perhaps that is some of the confusion about bands; 1900 is also a GSM band.
T-Mobile, for better or worse, uses the AWS bands, which results in its handsets having a different set of requirements than other carriers.
I've used an AT&T SIM in my SGS4g and was able to get 3G, so I'm fairly positive the phone also has the 1900 HSPA band.
Wikipedia says T-Mobile has 1900 in both GSM and 3G
I dont know what bands they use but I use simple mobile unlimited 3g for $40 or unlimited 4g for $60....$20 sim with free activation. SimpleMobile uses tmobile network

[Q] No 1700Mhz support for Nexus 5?!?

According to Google specs, Nexus 5 doesn't have 1700 MHz support for Tmobile users who still haven't had the luxury of LTE coverage and are still rocking HSPA+ on 1700Mhz frequency. I hope Google just forgot to add it in on its website or I'd be very disappointed.
WCDMA Band 4 is the same as T-Mobile's AWS HSPA+

Thanks for the clarification.

Maybe no 4g for UK?

Looking at the frequencies of this phone I was a bit concerned we not be able to use it for 4g in the U.K.
What do you guys think?
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/8
LTE: Bands: 1/3/4/7/17/38/40
2g (gsm/gprs/edge) should work on any carrier in the uk. 3g (umts/wcdma/3g hspa/4g hspa+) should work on any carrier in the uk. 4g lte will work with only a couple carriers in the uk.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks#Europe <- you need to check here if your carrier matches the lte bands. it appears that ee and hutchinson will work, but o2, vodafone, and uk broadband may not work.
Only one of Three's bands is covered. The rural 800mhz 4g won't be supported

Can anyone summarise which networks will be affected?

+1.
Look at the networks that are in your area and compare the frequencies to what the OPO supports.

I'm on Vodafone UK and on their wiki page it says they use band 7 2600 Mhz which the OPO supports, so does that mean inner city 4g should be fine? Just the rural and possibly inside buildings 4g might not be available due to the lack of band 20?

EE - Band 3/7
Three - Band 3/20
o2 - Band 20
UK Broadband - Band 42/43
Vodafone UK - Band 20
So EE and Three will work on 4G, the others will not, with EE having full compatibility as both their bands are supported
According to Vodafone UK wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vodafone_UK) it supports band 7 (2600MHz) - so what's the reality with OnePlus One is 4G supported on Vodafone UK or not?

Looks like they've increased their coverage since the initial auction so it should work. I'm on Three so can only comment about them (and 4G does work). Looks like Three are going to use band 20 at some point too so that'll help
apparently 4G band on the OP is compatible with 3
Yes it works currently with 3. I get LTE with 3.

[Q] G2 not capable of LTE?

How can this phone G2 D801, support LTE band IV and 17 without those frequencies, of 700Mhz and 1700Mhz?
It it only a HSPA+ (4G) phone?
The specs list frequencies for GSM / WCDMA and bands for LTE. D801 has bands 2, 4 and 17, so 1900, 1700/2100 and 700MHz. When scanning for networks I see AT&T, T-Mobile, former Metro PCS, and Verizon LTE networks.
hi
its unlock or lock?
I have lte

D6653 LTE on which carrier?

Hi,
I have a 6653 bought in India that I use here. I'm going to be in the US for a couple weeks later this month and wanted to know which carrier should I get a prepaid card for. Which carrier would support LTE on this device?

airtel it support 2300 MHz LTE (Band 40)
I am asking about which carrier in the US will the 6653 work on with LTE.
Sorry if I wasn't clear in my original post.
I think you will be fine on 3G its still pretty fast. I get 15-16 Mbps Down and 2-3 Mbps up on 3G in Minneapolis. LTE is obviously faster for me 42 Mbps Up and 10 Mbps Down but I doubt you would really notice in regular use....
D6653: LTE2100 (B1), LTE850 (B5), LTE1800 (B3), LTE2600 (B7), LTE900 (B8), TD-LTE2300 (B40), LTE700 (B28)
It will work on T-Mobile and AT&T and the other smaller GSM carriers perfectly on 2G/3G but you will be missing bands for LTE.
T-Mobile: for LTE uses Band 2 (1900Mhz), Band 4 (1700/2100Mhz), Band 12 (700 Mhz)
AT&T: for LTE uses Band 17 (700Mhz), Band 5 (850Mhz), Band 2 (1900Mhz), Band 4 (1700/2100Mhz).
US Cellular: for LTE uses Band 5 (850Mhz), Band 12 (700 Mhz)
You only have Band 5 and there is no garuntee that the listed carriers will have that band deployed in the area you will be in.
Also remeber you can have different band numbers for the same Mhz spectrum because companies can use different parts of it.
