[APP] My Uni for Independent University students

This started as a personal project for myself, born out of my need for better maps that just Google maps. I originally designed it to help me navigate a new university that I had started at. It grew into something much bigger and became something that I use to access all of my course content as well as take notes and share diagrams with. So, I thought it was selfish to keep it all to myself thus published to the market.
So no matter what university you go to on the planet, give it a try and leave some feed back to let me know how you got along and any opinions/feedback you may have.
There are 2 versions. Please try the donate version; My Uni (Donate) if you can appreciate the large amount of hours I have spent on this so far. You can find it on the market. Or you can buy me a beer:

I would be really interested to her from you guys your thoughts about the good and bad things with the app.
New update includes customisable links to important web sites to access from inside the app. Just scan the QR in the OP to take it for a spin.
Just updated My Uni with more pages to save important study related links. As well, you can now use the app in landscape mode and access the location settings form the menu. Please scan the QR above to give it a try or search the market for My Uni. Your feedback would be appreciated.
A new update has been made to My Uni with better aesthetics. Anyone uni students up for feedback?
I will try it in a few days and report back (no uni at the moment). Looks nice!
It does look pretty cool, will try it when I get a chance and report back! Thanks
what uni's does it support?
Uts ftw!! Ok I'll stop now.
You should have an option to set other schools than just the one. When launching app the OSM tab doesnt display, but the map and satellite tabs do.
Firstly thank you so much to egzthunder1 from xda for posting a review of the app!!
I was totally speechless for a while..
Secondly, the app is powered by OpenStreetMap (OSM) which will theoretically cover every University on the planet. The only chance that it won't cover your uni is if it has not been added to OSM.
OSM is has much more detail than Google Maps because anyone can edit and add to it at OpenStreetMap (click on the edit tab), and you can read about it here at Wikipedia.
If OSM is not appearing for you, your area is either not yet added to the map (you can do this yourself) or is being updated as OSM is updated for the duration of one hour each week.
You should have an option to set other schools than just the one.

This is a good idea and I think it can be done (like a remember this location button). It would be good to look over your uni at home especially if you study at 2 campuses of the same uni and/or have to travel a far way to get there. The initial idea of the app was to compliment academic studies while on campus. I mean, I thought it would only be turned on and used while at campus.
Finally I am open to feature requests and when I start University late February plan to form a team to handle feature expansion, UI improvements and optimising functionality. Thank you everyone for your feedback please keep it rolling in and remember to tell your Uni mates running android about the app.
Keep on truckin with another major update to the swiss army knife for your academic life. My Uni has undergone some major feature additions,
Check out the changelog :
* Improved location detection algorithm
* Fixed .edu pages title alignment
* All browsing now done through .edu pages
* Added forward history button to .edu pages

EDIT - I tried a few more times and the Pro version finally showed up ( v2.4.7 ) so I bought it. Great performance, simple layout, great UI!
------------------------------------------
I have been using the free version (downloaded from the Google Market) for a few days and liked it enough to buy the pro. I tried to download it this morning, but can't find it.
Is it just a matter of timing (a new version being elevated to the market)? I can't find either the free or pro versions in the market this morning.
Thanks,
-Brett.

The new scrollable widget is so much better than the previous widgets!
Just a suggestion: Can you just add an option to the widget to let the user select the background color and transparency!
Keep up the good work.

I will improved the widgets over time.
noinnion, I use you application for a long time now.
There is only one thing I dislike:
Lets say I use the icon > to go to the next article I want to read. The article go super fast and it is very good.
But, if I swype my finger from right to left, it appears that there is a huge "page" to scrool, and it take a loooooong swype to go to the next article.
Is it possible to fix? or at least have a option to go to the next article with a short swipe?
And thanks a lot for the amazing work! Your app is much better than the official Reader app.

I have one Motorola Atrix. Stock AT&T 4.5.9.1 Rom.
I started using gReader when I had one Motorola Milestone and both devices have the same issue.
The screen transition between articles is smooth only if I use the > icon. By swiping, it is really slow.
Sometimes a part of the article stop in the left part of the screen, and I have a large white area in the right of the screen. I need to swipe one more time in the white to reach the next article.
I think it happens due to a delay when gReader is adjusting image sizes in the article.

Ok, thanks a lot, and again, congratulations for the excelent work!
When can we expect greader supporting customized sorting for tags or folders, respectively, and its synchronization with Google Reader? I understand that chronological sorting can be used anywhere although rarely for folders/tags. The alphabetical order, however, is only usable by those following very few feeds. Those who collect more than 500 a day have tags with diverse but fixed priorities.

Love this app...have the paid version, use it everyday!
It would be great for the widget if we could show multiple subscriptions. I would like to show news and sports from different feeds. Also for the widget it would be nice to show what feed each story is from and what time it was updated.

Thank you!
I am aware that this app currently has some IPv6 and Mac address detection issues in Marshmallow on some devices. I have received several emails stating this. I am hoping to have time to release an update soon supporting Android N, fixing network detection issues, and adding Vulkan API detection support. To anybody here who has emailed me on the issues, thank you for the feedback.
Finally updated to fix network issues, among other things.
* Support Android 7.0
* Support Samsung Multi-window & Pop-up view
* Network info more reliable
* Network info auto-updates
As always, I'm open to feedback and suggestions.

Are there plans for integrating a VCS like Git into the app?

Unlikely that would be built directly into the app, the current design should be compatible with 3rd party git apps.

Hi bsaelim, I really like the app but the problem I have is that it only picks up files with a txt extension. I have all of my files using .md extension which are synced from my computer. Am I missing something? Can we get support for other extensions?
Thanks for using the app, steps to enable other file types are provided in the hacks section of the Help document (be sure to backup your notes first )
Nice. Thanks bsaelim.
v.1.5.8
* Faster performance
* Fixed metadata bugs
* Preview in note list can now be customized (see documentation)
* Long press update messages to "peek" at changes of other notes without leaving current note
* Minor animation fixes

What is the difference between playstore and xda versions?
Both say 1.5.8, but one is version code 411 (xda) and the other version code 409, which is why md5 hash values do not match.
Original intent is for xda branch to rely less on closed source modules and also for it to be more experimental than Play store version (e.g., adopting vector drawable throughout the app). But at this point the two branches have not diverged just yet.
Hope this helps.
