I'm not a pretty good writer so i'll just copy a post I did earlier today
Currently I have a Samsung Wave, Bada OS is basically unbearable currently. I'm interested in Android and I tried a Galaxy S. Thinking of buying this phone, somebody told me to always buy the newest phone so I can have the phone for a longer while. As in I change my phone a lot. This phone has everything I need, and it's currently better than the Wave. And it sits right in my budget. The problem is that my next phone I promised myself to keep it for 2 years without changing it, kind of a deal lol. Will this hold for 2 years ? Or should I wait for something better ?
Knowing I won't buy a phone until October/November. And this will be my first Android phone since I don't want to buy any other OS, already tried them all.
Thanks!

My price range is equal to 350 EUR, should I buy a Galaxy S or maybe another suggestion. Maybe the Xperia Neo ? I'm dying
And the problem with new phones is they're expensive, I don't need dual-core or a 4"+ screen and all that price-raising unnecessary stuff. If anything's bigger than 3.6", and a clear screen. And a nice camera and high quality music.
Thanks!
Galaxy S
Honestly i love the Galaxy S unbelievably adaptable and well supported on this forum
Thanks, man
I also wanna know if there's any other similar phones. What do you guys think of Xperia Neo ? And if there's any better phones on my budget please tell me about them.
Thanks!
Hey everyone,
Just got one of these for free for buying the Samsung camera I wanted... lol. Now I thought about selling it, but since it price dropped to 150 in Canada I was thinking of buying another and giving them to my niece and nephew (brother's, age four and two) and my nephew and niece (sister's, age four and one). Now the latter already uses an iphone for games and sort of gets it. So I think he could transition into this easily enough. The former, not much, but my brother has a tab and he could show them and so could I, etc.
All in all, I am just wondering how kid friendly it is. I don't plan to deviate from stock roms, just because I know there can sometimes be issues. Might get rid of stupid heavy touchwiz and make sure it's on JB, but that is it. And possibly a dumb question, but if I root and start removing preloaded apps, is that OK, or will it have adverse effects?
What about apps for them? Parental lock?
If it is all terrible, I may just wait a year for a new generation.
The other thing is that I would needed cases for them, preferably on the sturdier. Otterboxes seem to be impossible to find, at least in Canada. Anything else in the tougher case area? Even though it is close to Christmas, waiting isn't much of an issue.
I did find these and they look nice enough: http://www.amazon.ca/Fosmon-Revolvi...2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1355546811&sr=1-2
But I am worried as far as actual drop protection goes. These kids are pretty good with the stuff, nothing has been broken yet, but I am paranoid, yet I keep all my devices naked...
Any help and pointers are appreciated. I am on a budget of a hundred per kid, so this just about works out.
Oh and if this is in the wrong section, then I am very sorry.
Excellent for kids. I know a 5yr old that uses it like a pro...and it took maybe an hour to get totally acclimated to it.
Thank you. Any specific reasons? Any clue about case?

i got this one from amazon and it works quite well..doubles as a stand as well....can't find the 7" version, but it's basically this:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...r=8-1&keywords=samsung+galaxy+tab+2+case+pink
also get yourself a good screen protector... zaggshield has been on it since day one and it's great.
Thanks bud. I dont really like Zagg, but I can get some from work for cheap.
Try an app called kids place. Locks the device down to only apps you allow to be run and even works after a reboot and is pin protected.
If the child clicks an advert on a game or clicks to buy more coins on an app it stops that, although it stops the whole app and has to be started again
Sent from my Samsung Note II.
Thanks. that helps a lot. making me feel better about this already.
I'll have to play with it and go from there.
since I am rooting, I am going to install an ad blocker too.
I bought this tab for my daughter on her 3rd birthday she uses it fine. I got a military shield off amazon and a folding leather case off ebay, we have had no problems at all just a reboot from time to time to clear the memory

Awesome. Thanks for the good news guys.
It's perfect for kids! With its compact size, great price and massive app/games range, it's ideal for kids!
Ages 4 and 2, no I wouldn't do any normal tablet for them, Walmart has a cheap tablet IIRC it's called Nabi (see if you can find the first version) they have released a version 2 now with the tegra 3 quad-core and it has this big rubber "bumper" case that makes it way more "kid friendly" kids that age WILL destroy a tablet in no time if not watched closely so go with the one meant for them.

I could not find the original Nabi and also it sounded like a POS. Nabi 2 is more expensive and it is not like I did not find some half decent cases for the tab2. I just wanted to hear from others. Thanks for your input, but it is too late to stop me. I have already invested the 400 total on this. 100 per kid, just my budget
My 4 and 7 year old use mine all the time. I put it in an Otterbox......and keep an eye on them.:cyclops:

Hey guys,
I saw this smartwatch on Indiegogo the other day and I think it's pretty sweet.

Looking at the specs sheet alone its definitely something.
What do you guys think? Get it or wait till more is out?

To me it's geared towards the fitbit niche, which is great, but not for me. I would have gone with the agent watch but both are slated to release later this year and by that time, iphone and Google may announce their version. Also the Kreyos reminds me of a ipod shuffle, but not in color.
For $100 is not bad if you like your fitbit and up bands and will utilize their functions. I just saw they have comparison charts between the Pebble, Sony SW2, Meta and Martian. Which isn't really a fair, because they all have their own merits and demerits compared to each other lol. And it's a each to their own style.
So what do I think? As a pebble owner, I was interested in it for a spell, but opted to not to back it when I had the option at $100, because 1. Indigogo takes your money first, and 2. I didn't like the look of it. Believe it or not, I prefer the Pebble look compared to this. I know, I'm odd
I really like that they offer band options - clip/watch/lanyard. Like all the smartwatches so far, it looks like a toy...not something I would be comfortable wearing at work. By offering options for wearing it becomes a lot more attractive to me. Gestures and the variety of sensors that it works with is definitely awesome as well. Easily the most impressive smartwatch so far.
Supposedly in Korea they are selling about 2,000 per day half being the BT Sport and Classic and the other half the 3G models. The Classic model has sold out of its initial inventory. The S2 is selling twice as fast as the original S1 model. I think if they can get more apps, it should easily be the best selling Gear watch thus far. I wish I could find the Classic somewhere, Samsung should have made a lot more.

Do work for Samsung? I am a Samsung Fanboy, and they couldn't give me an S2 for free!
Trying to figure out what all people see in the S2 that I don't!
BTW, there are a lot of returns with the S2 , oh, that maybe only in the USA!

Care to elaborate why? Just interested seeing i'm thinking about buying one as my first smartwatch.
To all that replied. I would SURELY give all of you the FREE ONE if they gave it to me.. ditto for the Note 5 too.
There are a lot of us that are Samsung Fans, but when Samsung started cutting features, and down sizing, some of us jumped ship, that is a known fact.
Cryps, the reason I am passed big time on the S2, first, they made is smaller. They could have made it 20 to 25% bigger, and I think they would keep a lot of users, not all but more than now. Also, there is NO SPEAKER on the regular S2, I think you have to get the yet to come out in the US 3g model to have a speaker.. My Gear S, has a speaker, and can take and make calls. Also, I would love to see somebody text from the S2. That would be some sight on a 1 and 1/2 inch round screen!
Look, I am not ALONE on this.. Again, Ditto for the Note 5. They couldn't give me one of those either. I have 85 gbs of data on my 128gb card in my Note 5, also, I am 15 seconds away from a full 100% when my battery run downs.. These are "must haves" for me..
Back to the S2, I am GLAD that a lot users like it, but you all must acknowledge that the S2 and the Note 5 turned off a LOT OF LOYAL USERS of those two devices.. Maybe Samsung picked up some NEW users, but they surely lost some of their users with the cutting of features and downsizing.. A lot of users! That is why I questioned the high sales figures..I broke my neck getting to the Gear S and the Note 4, now you put me on a cliff and tell me I have to take the S2 and Note 5 or jump, I am jumping!! No, is not that bad, but I wouldn't have one of those, it would be a nightmare for me..
Again, I would gladly give an S2 away if they gave me one. But, the fact of the matter, they couldn't PAY me to take one..No kidding...
EDIT: Just saw this about the S2, in another thread, but on the same topic line as mine with the same opinion as mine..

Well Samsung can't please everybody. And, based on poor sales of the earlier Gear watches, the "LOYAL USERS" are VERY small group. I'm glad Samsung has put out a watch for the rest of us who don't want a freaking smartphone on their arm.

I find this all rather amusing. Imagine if car customers acted like this.
You're a big fan of the Chevy Suburban SUV. It can seat 9, TVs in the back, full surround sound, has 4 wheel drive, and does just about everything you want. You're super happy with it.
A year later Chevy comes out with a new Corvette. It's really fast, has good looks, only seats 2, and is limited to driving on paved roads. Doesn't meet your needs at all.
Does this now mean Chevy doesn't appreciate you? Has Chevy abandoned you?
It's not like there's some next gen hardware in the S2 compared to the original S. Same processor. Same screen technology. It's just a smaller, faster, more streamlined model for a different crowd. It's not personal.
And how is this a challenge to understand for you? People like different things. Samsung makes many different TVs, phones, watches, etc, for many different kinds of consumers. Just because every model isn't to your liking don't take it as a personal insult directed at you.

Very good point!:good:
However, my point was there was a group of users that were really into this particular device/model that they would break their necks getting to the counter to get the upgade model! However, it seem like features were dropped a new design implemented! So instead of that group rushing to get one, there is a lot of hesitation and even frowning at the new offering! Trust me, there are a lot of past model users that feel that way.
That is all what I was saying. Not insulted, but disappointed big time,
http://www.androidheadlines.com/2015/11/gear-s2-samsungs-route-back-wearables-gam.html
Samsung sold 180,000 of these in China in 8 hours at one online retail shop and they still don't have enough to go around.
Android wear sold 720,000 total all of last year. Something to think about and I even had a Moto 360 V1 at one point.

That's great!!
However, there is a big difference in Chinese taste and American taste!
Hey guys,
i've been financially "burned" by Samsung because of the Note 7, in all, i've lost about £150 so, im ducked if I'm ever going to buy a Samsung device again including S7, S8.
I'm now back on my Priv which is good but, i'm bored of it and the screen isn't actually that good so, what next? The Pixels physically look boring and to be honest, the spec's seem over priced so, they don't interest me. The next is the LG V20 but i'm seeing a LOT of reports of poor screen quality, maybe the same screen as used in my Priv?, so, i'm not interested in this. My wife had a Huwawei P8 and the software was terrible so, i'm not too interested in them either.....
What other "top of the range" phones are out that are interesting? If it has USB C and Wireless charging, that would help negate some of my £150 loss ... but i'd rather bite my nose off than give Samsung any more of my money.
It's a pity that you don't like emui, but the Huawei Mate seems to be a good option.
I also don't like the new Pixels , so I was thinking about getting a Nexus 6p ;there should be easy to find a good offer.
Also you may want to take a look at the One Plus 3.
But I don't find any really exciting phone these days... The note 7 could have been, but I won't buy a Samsung at least in the next few years.
Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
That's the problem, nothing interesting out their for me. Had hoped someone might have pointed out something I missed....
Oh, LG, why did you put such an alleged awful screen on the V20....
