[Q] Is there a way to keep my tablet's screen on while 'locking' the device? - General Questions and Answers

I like to stream sports on my tablet and touching the screen while streaming tends to open popup, which messes up the stream and forces me to reload it. It's not a huge deal, but it can be annoying. So I'm just wondering if there's a way to lock the screen while keeping it on, sort of like MX Player's screen lock function.

HELP!!! Need Screen Lock and Blanking with TCPMP Core Player

Hi,got a curious need.I watch some video lectures on my PL720 PDA using TCPMP.A lot of them can be listened to without necessarily looking at the screen, which would be ideal when walking, jogging dozing etc. However thats where the problem lies therein. I have tried a number of different screen locks such as MortSaver,ScreenGuard,DeviceLock etc and unless I am missing something, its not working as required. If the video/TCPMP is running and the screen lock is activated, the TCPMP player pauses ie stops playing. Is there any program or hack I can use that would lock the screen, preferably blank it (thereby saving battery power) but let the TCPMP player/audio play in the background? Would appreciate any help on this as it being in my pocket always causes touchscreen activation. Thanx all.
Sorry for bringing this old thread back to life, but strangely even after an extensive search I have not found a solution.
All the locks mentioned turn the GPS off, and I'm using satnav in my pocket when riding a bike. I assume it's the same problem as dabs1 had/has.
OK, this is a piece of precious info for some.
After a few days of thorough searching and trying countless locks, there is one that actually does the thing. It's Deltalock. Strangely. There is an option 'blank screen' or something, it locks the keys as well actually.
The whole point is that, unlike all the other applications I've tried, when you assign Deltalock to a hardware button, when you start it, it does not disturb the application that is currently running. So - for example - it does not close/minimize the Tomtom and does not turn the GPS off.

[Q] Surface Display [sleep/wake]

I finally decided to go with the Surface tablet as I have been using Windows 8 Retail Preview for over a year now.
Its been great so far and all that new tablet UI experience. I am a little confused about a few things here. Like basic functionality.
For eg, I wanna turn off the screen when I am listening to music on YouTube or something. But when I try to turn the display off (power button) It puts the PC to sleep and that affects the streaming. I was hoping that it would run in the background so I can just listen to music with the screen off to save some battery. Does anyone know of any alternatives ?

[Q] Display no longer turns off with HDMI use after update

Stock TF700T, unrooted, etc., 4.2.1
Prior to the update, when I connected to TV via HDMI, to watch Netflix movies, the Tablet's display automatically turned off once the movie started playing. Required no action on my part.
Since the update, the display stays on, and I can't see or find any setting that will change this behavior.
The TV display looks great - no system bar at the bottom or anything - but it is obviously a waste of battery power to keep the display on, it puts unwanted light into a darkened room, etc.
Any way to restore the original behavior, which makes so much more sense?

[Q] Auto Dimming during videos

Is there a way to stop the screen from auto dimming and turning off while watching videos? It's really annoying to have to keep tapping the screen every minute to keep it lit up while I'm on youtube. I know I can manually set the screen to stay on, but I feel like it should just stay on for videos.
I've only found this to be the case with embedded videos in a browser. The YouTube app itself has never turned the screen off/dimmed during watching for me.

[Q] Android & CCTV / Wake Screen on notification

Hi All,
I've been looking around for some options to help me wake the screen up.
I had 2 ideas one as if the device detected someone in the room (PIR almost) and simply turned on the screen to resume its last action.
or
Everytime a certain app made a notification - again simply turning on the screen and resuming its last action.
Otherwise ideally to trigger a app to load......
Logic behind this for example is use an old tablet as a digital photo frame, but not on all the time. Only when there is motion dected.
Equally, there is some many smart tech like Nest cam's for example, using an old tablet simply as a dsiplay source - when there is motion in the room, wake the screen or when the app makes a notification wake the screen!
Yes there is an argument for and against these things, but I am curious if anyone's got any ideas on apps or ways to make an android device behave like this?!
Anyway thanks all!
