Hey guys
What launcher is everyone using? I seem to have some lag scrolling between screens on go launcher!!
Roll on custom roms

same question here
adw is almost unusable
I found the same thing pretty much, that's why I've kept with TW for now, and to be honest, this is the only device I can actually cope with Touch Wiz on lol.

Hey guys.. found a solution for now..
Im using launcherpro and i bumped all the opening speeds up to max etc, now theres no lag when opening stuff!
thanks I'll try
think i may of been to quick off the mark.. still some lag on scrolling
Yeah, LP has been the best performing launcher on all my devices to date and i too bump all the speeds to ten but i get lag, ill just twiddle thunbs till ICS

Exactly the same here, Launcher Pro is no match for the stock TW....
The same here GoLauncher EX was too laggy...TW seems to run smoother than others---

I use Go Launcher EX and don't find it lags at all. I did use Titanium backup to stop TouchWiz launcher and its widgets from running.
Also you can download Spare Parts Pro for free and set Windows and Transition Animations to fast, this will speed up all the animations on the phone.
Hey I'm also using GoLauncher and at first there was a little lag but I solved it in this way:
Goto Preferences, Screen settings, Screen Transition Effects, Custom, and set Speed = 25 and Elastic = 55.
I've done that and its very usable, still stutters on drawing a GoWidget but I only have one so it's all good
I'd say increasing the speed would cause more stutter as its trying to redraw faster, so slower is the key.
I can't wait until they fully utilise the gpu as that seems to be causing the issue, either that or the fact that I haven't fully disabled TouchWiz..

hmm, my note should arrive either later this week or early next week. i might try out shell3d to see if it works well with the note.
Try zeam launcher and disable wallpaper scrolling in the settings. The smoothest launcher I was able to use on the note.

I d rather say ADW is a pretty good and faultless launcher,if u use ICS rom, i would recommend trebuchet.

Nova Launcher
I am in love with the Nova launcher. It just has so many customization's, and I love the overlapping/resizing of widgets especially.
I like the HTC Sense, but now I'm with the galaxy

Apex launcher..
Im actually using Go Launcher and it also has widget resizing!!
and its pretty cool... folders on app drawer... folder on home screen... and pretty much customizable
APEX, fast and simple.
Nova Launcher
The version Prime of Nova Launcher is the best ... most personalized launcher ...
"FTL (Faster Than Light)" by LowVeld - written for the HTC Desire S. By far the quickest and most stable add-on launcher ever. :good:
Yeah, and you can even overlap widgets and icons!

Have a look at this thread. It's got a few different launchers and lockscreens shown in there and I'll be updating it upon request. Even though it's only showing the information from the Play Store, it's still much easier to have them all in one place, like it is.

Holo Launcher is one of my favorite ! : here
You can try the Xperia-home launcher --> it's a great launcher, fast and powerfull. A lot of custom romm use it by default.
And FTL (Faster Than Light) launcher --> really great too and not discontinued so it'll improve ^^
Until today I've tried holo, adw ex, go launcher.
I think I stick to adw, it has cool animation, 4d drawer and eats an admissible amount of ram.
Go launcher is freaking nice but kills down my phone.
Holo is the fastest I've tried but lacks in customization.

Go keyboard is nice of course but eats a lot of ram

Recently i installed nemesis one rom on my galaxy y, it comes with an awesome nemesis launcher.
But the problem is, it uses up some of my RAM.
Also when I clear my RAM the launcher again reboots which takes some time.
If anythibg can be done to solve this, will be of great help!
Thank you..

-you can use holo launcher, less ram usage!
- u must be using nemesis launcher for it's widgets tab.. try tt launcher it's better than nemesis launcher!! just search it...
use thanks button!
you can also try Apex or NOVA launcher, its much more faster and far smoother
Ok... ill try them all.. thnks for the help!

Figured I'd try to help... I use Atom Launcher, my cellphone is very limited RAM-wise and this launcher is still a lot faster than the stock launcher. So to answer your question; launchers need to take some of your virtual memory (or they will have to reload), you just need to find one that you like that takes as few memory as possible (Apex, Atom, Lightning, Smart, etc.). Stay away from those bulky 3D eye-candy launchers and go for more minimalistic ones, they run faster. And don't use Live Wallpapers, they are power-hungry. Hope this helps
EDIT: If you like to use apps that force stops everything to free some memory, I suggest that you make sure that it doesn't stop your launcher and most used apps, so your device will not have to restart them every time, this will make your device faster in the end (keeping an app running in the background is a lot better than killing it and restarting it every 5 minutes).

Try looking at Holo Launcher. It offer most of what you would find on Apex and Nova and it can even run on Froyo.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobint.hololauncher&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5tb2JpbnQuaG9sb2xhdW5jaGVyIl0.
Holo Launcher is another excellent choice it offers a lot of the features found on ICS launchers but is compatible with Jelly Bean. It is also very lightweight, doesn't use a lot of memory, and offers silky smooth performance from my experiences with it.
Whem i was on 2.x.x i used Launcher Pro, may be the best launcher ever.Sad that it's discontinued.GooglePlay Link
Lightning Launcher is really fast, and takes up barely any ram, with lots of features, just a big learning curve, and not as easy to set up as Holo or Adw. Launcher.

Holo Launcher is basically all you need on GB, light and fast.
there is also ADW Launcher.
Don't even try Go Launcher on low end phone, it's just bloatware.
I tried till now every single one of those launcher and the most usefull is holo launcher but you need to spend on it some money so it can be good too bad

I would like to share this news maybe some of you might not know
Nexus 5 was released so was 4.4 Kitkat so the launcher was leaked.
Download and install each
PreBuiltGMScore (google play services 4.0)
Velvet (google search)
GoogleHome (google launcher)
i confirm it works on our device.
Im using CarbonROM 4.3
Sorry if this is informal i just want to share and im in a hurry.
Thanks and credits to phandroid
how to get this to work on (gingerbread) android 2.3+ devices?
I dont think it will work at all for devices below 4.0. I think you need 4.0 at least. Well maybe you can try just install it normally
Sent from my GT-i8160 using xda app-developers app
it needs API 16 so 4.1 JB at least
btw if someone want here Camera and Keyboard (working)

Launcher dont have setting menu, it's ugly and slow.
Zero customization.
I would guess it's not the final launcher just the app taken from somewhere. Also I think if tgere is a setting menu you'll only have it with 4.4
If u think launcher is too big i changed it via dpi 210/220 so it will have 4x5 grid and kinda small search bar. And i made this my default since i get below 300mb on carbon rather than trebuchet on 345mb. Its lighter than touchwiz though u might as well give it a try. Sorry quote is broken on xda app for me

I have this launcher and I love it, but I dislike the dependence that google has created between the launcher amd google now. I think they want to control us more than what they have just done.
