Try looking at Holo Launcher. It offer most of what you would find on Apex and Nova and it can even run on Froyo.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobint.hololauncher&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5tb2JpbnQuaG9sb2xhdW5jaGVyIl0.
Holo Launcher is another excellent choice it offers a lot of the features found on ICS launchers but is compatible with Jelly Bean. It is also very lightweight, doesn't use a lot of memory, and offers silky smooth performance from my experiences with it.
Whem i was on 2.x.x i used Launcher Pro, may be the best launcher ever.Sad that it's discontinued.GooglePlay Link
Lightning Launcher is really fast, and takes up barely any ram, with lots of features, just a big learning curve, and not as easy to set up as Holo or Adw. Launcher.

Holo Launcher is basically all you need on GB, light and fast.
there is also ADW Launcher.
Don't even try Go Launcher on low end phone, it's just bloatware.
I tried till now every single one of those launcher and the most usefull is holo launcher but you need to spend on it some money so it can be good too bad

I agree. And use it as my daily. If enough people request it. I can make some custom icons and docks for it.

i used to use it, until i started using ebproductions gingerbread launcher. It is much smoother and it is a 3d app drawer gb launcher. It isn't customizable though.
Blackphenix you totally should! i love luncher pro its the best luncher in my opinion.
anyone know if its worth buying the plus version?
I ve recently been using goLuncher and i like the widgets that it has. Does luncher pro plus have widgets like that?
Launcherpro plus has calender, facebook, messages, friends, bookmarks and I think like twitter and gmail

I bought launcher pro plus just to support the developer. He made something really customizable that I love. Deserves my money.

I love launcher pro too. It occasionally stutters for me while scrolling through the 3d app drawer though. I don't even have that many apps.

I have every paid launcher out there and I have to say ADW ex is by far the best because of all the customizations u can make including scroll animations like tumble slide cube ect.... if you know how to get the apps free try out ADW ex or just take my word for it and buy it it's well worth it. much better than launcher pro plus
or here is a video from youtube check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5uT3vNp2qc
thanks bro gonna try <3
go launcher ex is by far the best on gb2.3.6 the dev is very active with weekly updates and is by far the most customizable launcher out launcher pro development is dead and not even close to go launcher ex imo

I found the same thing pretty much, that's why I've kept with TW for now, and to be honest, this is the only device I can actually cope with Touch Wiz on lol.

Im using launcherpro and i bumped all the opening speeds up to max etc, now theres no lag when opening stuff!
thanks I'll try
think i may of been to quick off the mark.. still some lag on scrolling
Yeah, LP has been the best performing launcher on all my devices to date and i too bump all the speeds to ten but i get lag, ill just twiddle thunbs till ICS

Exactly the same here, Launcher Pro is no match for the stock TW....

I use Go Launcher EX and don't find it lags at all. I did use Titanium backup to stop TouchWiz launcher and its widgets from running.
Also you can download Spare Parts Pro for free and set Windows and Transition Animations to fast, this will speed up all the animations on the phone.
Hey I'm also using GoLauncher and at first there was a little lag but I solved it in this way:
Goto Preferences, Screen settings, Screen Transition Effects, Custom, and set Speed = 25 and Elastic = 55.
I've done that and its very usable, still stutters on drawing a GoWidget but I only have one so it's all good
I'd say increasing the speed would cause more stutter as its trying to redraw faster, so slower is the key.
I can't wait until they fully utilise the gpu as that seems to be causing the issue, either that or the fact that I haven't fully disabled TouchWiz..

I'm currently running the go launcher but seems a little laggy... which is the best
Sent from my HTC ChaCha A810e using xda premium
It's laggy if you have SuperOSR/CM7 because the proc speed is set to 600 Mhz by default on these two ROMs.
What you need to to do is go to Settings ->CyanogenMod Settings -> Peformance -> CPU Settings -> Max CPU frequency: 800 Mhz
That should fix all laggy issues you are seeing.
Thanks .alex worked like a charm... I'm using launcher pro and it now works fluidly also...

Thanks,
I am using Go Launcher on i727. Doesn't seem laggy and never crashes. Batter still an issue unless I stop most active bloatware. True of all smartphones, S2 especially.
Using an upgraded samsung battery and have the cpu throttled down and still go launcher is my preferred choice. using SkyRocket Ice Scream Sandwich 7.3 ROM.

There is a a ice cream sandwhich rom for the chacha?
Sent from my HTC ChaCha A810e using xda premium
On the ChaCha, I use ADW because we can fully hide the dock (so there's more place for icons and widgets, it's not the same as when you hide the dock on Launcher Pro or Go Launcher) as I don't like vertical docks.
Good tip upping cpu- canes the battery life tho, just tried it today overall I like the speed but if I was a long time from charger could be bad!

The stock ROM has 800 set by default, that's why battery drains so fast.

Im using adw launcher ex. Its great! I made my own rom.. deleted all crappy apps.. deleted sense.. and replaced it with adw launcher ex.
Spacecaker do you use that one on the chacha?
I have been using ssLauncher for weeks now and it's easily my favorite.
It's atypical, extremely customizable, you can make really beautiful home screens and it works very well with landscape mode. Actually, my home screen scrolls down, so I have lots of widgets and icons and shortcuts that, otherwise, would have to go in a different screen, it's absolutely useful and free.
You can also share your designs, which is a huge plus, as people is starting to do so and there are some fantastic designs out there!

Holo Launcher is one of my favorite ! : here
You can try the Xperia-home launcher --> it's a great launcher, fast and powerfull. A lot of custom romm use it by default.
And FTL (Faster Than Light) launcher --> really great too and not discontinued so it'll improve ^^
Until today I've tried holo, adw ex, go launcher.
I think I stick to adw, it has cool animation, 4d drawer and eats an admissible amount of ram.
Go launcher is freaking nice but kills down my phone.
Holo is the fastest I've tried but lacks in customization.

Figured I'd try to help... I use Atom Launcher, my cellphone is very limited RAM-wise and this launcher is still a lot faster than the stock launcher. So to answer your question; launchers need to take some of your virtual memory (or they will have to reload), you just need to find one that you like that takes as few memory as possible (Apex, Atom, Lightning, Smart, etc.). Stay away from those bulky 3D eye-candy launchers and go for more minimalistic ones, they run faster. And don't use Live Wallpapers, they are power-hungry. Hope this helps
EDIT: If you like to use apps that force stops everything to free some memory, I suggest that you make sure that it doesn't stop your launcher and most used apps, so your device will not have to restart them every time, this will make your device faster in the end (keeping an app running in the background is a lot better than killing it and restarting it every 5 minutes).
