Not such a great deal when you consider the contract part of it, I think. They've got you for two years at probably $70+/month ($1680 at least). And during those two years, if you want to upgrade, they'll probably make you sign a new contract AND pay the new contract price (if they even let you upgrade). Sounds like a raw deal to me.
I'll take my $670 upfront cost, no contract and $30/month plan anyday. Next year, if I want a new phone, I sell this one for $450, get whatever new phone I want, and never even have to consider my carrier as an obstacle.
Just my $.02.

I pre-ordered mine on Negrielectronics. I used a coupon for $20 off (sorry, that coupon is no longer valid, but there are others that are still good), and Negri's price was already cheaper than T-Mobile's. Plus no tax and shipping. Ended up saving $100 over T-Mobile's off-contract price.
They still haven't shipped their devices, but for $100 in savings, I can wait a few days extra. And of course, having no contract is the icing on top.

I bought mine at a Cambodian store made in vietnam class b with 1 year warranty 32gb white no region lock tried with thai simcard all ok and cambodian sim all fine tried my roaming philippine line still workin. Costed me 696$

Well, if you wait a couple of weeks, they'll probably start showing up on Swapp (XDA Marketplace) once the 14-day return window has passed. People might change their minds and list them for sale.

Thanks for the heads up. Now trying to sort thru the different models (carrier differences) and prices. I used to think the Tmo and ATT hardware were the same. I'm not so sure anymore. The ATT flavor is $55 more expensive on Ngri. It also appears the 64GB model is not available anywhere that I've seen. Don't know how important the memory issue is since an SD card can be added.... Since I use an ATT MVNO I have to be sure about compatibility. Is there really a difference in the 4g freqs ?

This thread on XDA seems to suggest that both the T-Mobile and AT&T versions support the exact same frequencies.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2464498
I've noticed the difference in price as well, and it is considerable. I'm not sure why the T-Mobile version is cheaper than the others. Negri buys theirs directly from T-Mobile, so it could just be that they are getting a better deal from T-Mobile than the other carriers.
As for the storage, 32GB is pretty decent to start with. I've seen that that translates to about 25GB of user accessible storage out of the box. And yes, most people have MicroSD cards already, and 32GB cards are pretty cheap these days (I bout mine for $20 last year). Someone also just posted a link in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2466753) to a 128GB MicroSD card. Of course, the price is ridiculous, so I don't see many people buying that.

Price?

Well I have read numerous sources saying it will be 199.99 with 2 Year Contract.. Now I am seeing receipts for 149.99 with contract or 299.99 without contract. I truly want this phone and the 50$ wont stop me, but hey it is 50$ more dollars for apps and accessories. Does anyone know if they price was changed or if I should bring in a picture of the receipts to get a 50$ off or will I just end up paying 200$?
AT&T and Samsung posted on their twitter that it is $199 with a contract, and $350 without a contract.
I'm hoping it is $350, cause that's how much money i got for it! haha.
Yah, but how are people getting it for 300 or 150?
I have no idea. I haven't seen any receipts and such.

and

Now I'm jealous. I hope it is $300 but i'll settle for $350!
haha yah I mean, paying an extra 50 really won't stop me. But hey, thats 50$'s I can use on accessories etc
I guarantee that it's 349.99 without a contract and 199.99 with a 2 year contract.
The people that are getting 50 or 100 dollars off the prices of the phone is because of the AT&T upgrade advantage.
http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/why/upgrade-advantage.jsp
If the primary line on your account is over $100 then that line will be upgrade eligible every year.
I believe they have three ways of paying.
1. upgrade elligable its $199 with a 2 year contract and USE your elligability.
2. Not elligable for an upgrade its $350. with a 2 year extension on your contract but not using your future upgrade.
3. No contract $499.
I just called and thats what two local stores told me.
I was just told 500 off contract from an AT&T store.

Woa, that'd be completely new for att. I've never seen any signs or ads anywhere for previous phones that describe option 2, always just 1 or 3 (renew your contract or just no contract pricing - no inbetween). If I'm wrong, I apologise, but I haven't heard of that before.
I called a store from one of the recepits that people have posted, and they told me that there was no way some of the pricing, nor sales have happened. I was told $500 dollars from a store that was $300.
I was also told $199 from a store that sold one for $149 and that I was reading the receipt wrong and instead of the "samsung i897" like the receipt says, it was really a 3gs 32 gb phone. Basically, I was told that I am an idiot and it wasn't really that price.
what the hell is going on?
Now I'm just more mad than anxious.

That makes a lot more sense. So I think that actually clears up everything. Stores don't sell them at different prices, you may just be eligible for an additional discount. But I will still call several places when it is out to try to pick it up for 150$
So since my phone line is $150 a month, but i just upgraded last month, I am able to get this phone for $350 or $500?
wait... I want to get this phone but no data plan... as an att customer already which pricing would fit me

Well I don't think you can purchase the phone without a data plan. Maybe off contract, but if you want the 2 year agreement price, you HAVE to get a data plan. As for the 50 and 100$ off, you NEED a 2 year agreement and that means you NEED a data plan.

Cheapest out of contract price?

Just sold my iPhone a good hefty amount Wheres the best place to get out of contract pricing? 400 isnt much, but I've heard of people getting it for 300? Anyone know where?
Also, my two year ends 02/26/2011, do I qualify for the upgrade pricing from Costco which is 79.99 or do I have to wait until that date?
Alex
Yeah, go to Costco and ask them if you qualify for the early upgrade right now. If not, wait until the 26th... its a great price. ($79) I tried yesterday but they turned me down for an early upgrade, told me to go to the corporate store, and I can get it there. Try your luck!
Would love to know where I can buy one online at a reasonable price with no service contract.
att.com don't sell them without a service contract so that is out
AT&T stores have it retailed for 399.99 without commitment. They probably need more than a few in stock to sell it to you but that's the cheapest I have seen.
Just got mine today from ATT off contract $399 seems to be the cheapest right now anywhere. Seems kinda odd that they wouldn't sell u one.

Seen eBay prices as low as $320. Could probably dip below $300 in a week. I trust eBay more than say, small obscure handset websites, because I've never had a problem bidding on a phone and getting what I wanted in a timely manner, but when it came to an actual online retailer, they would give me the run-around on shipping or send me a defective product.
sometimes http://www.wirefly.com has good deals on early upgrades.
Just got mine at BB for 324 plus tax. That was no contract price.
I got a pretty good early upgrade yesterday.
I have 2 lines, 1 shows ready for upgrade and the other addon line shows eligible on 4/24/11. Contract is up in August.
I went to a corporate store and they said 99 for the normal upgrade and 399 for the other.
I went home and called customer service and got the same story.
I then asked them what charges I would have if I cancel my account early.
They told me and after a couple of min. they gave me the retention rep.
Ended up getting 2 new Inspires, free shipping, for 79.99 each!

Att store used an early upgrade for a non data enabled line for us and it was $300 and put on the data enabled line for me, but then i gave it to my wife. THEN the data stopped working for her line and we had to call and explain because there was something that needed to be enabled on her line for the 4g phone, EVEN though att was out of the 4g cards. So we have to go back to the store to get the 4g card i was supposed to get, but going to get for her line now.
Untill i buy another one. Maybe today. But that will probably be the full 400 price. Ill check bestbuy store see if its cheaper

Why would you want the one when HTC will release another phone in 5-8 months?Let's be smart here, 2 year contract right? 10 dollars is subtracted a month from Etf so 1 year is 120$ so around 200$ for etf and probably another 200 for the phone.400$ total plus tax.

you would only pay an early term fee if you bought it from at&t. if you buy it anywhere else you won't.
if you buy one from craigslist or ebay you'll be fine.

Awh yeah. That's what I'm talking about. Now to find a cheap One...
I think paying etf and the phone price would be cheaper, you would be looking at maybe 440$( if the price above remains true, usually good smartphones start from 199$ and mabye more for the expanded memory on the phone)(32,64,etc)depending on the release price of the HTC one.And usually eBay is sketchy. You should look on amazon, alot more safe.no contract prices online are usually hiked up and you would be looking to pay 500$+
As someone who worked for AT&T wireless, mainly tech support, for three years, here is how the breakdown works. First, the contract does NOT mean you cannot use another phone. The whole point of a contract is to allow you to buy a phone a very low price. For example, the HTC One X+ is aorund $400-500 retail. But when you sign a two-year contract, you agree to stay with AT&T for two years, and in return you get a phone at a discounted price. That is ALL the contract is for. If you dropped the $400-500, then you will not sign a contract. The ETF start at $325, and decreases $10 every month. Yes, even in the 23rd month, you will still have to pay $60 to get out of contract.
Now to answer your other question, if you put your sim card into a new phone, it will not do anything wrong to your account. Just like if you put it into an iPhone, it does nothing, but allow you to use certain network features. Can't remember if the One has LTE, but if it does, then data should still work. If not, call AT&T and get re-provisioned for the regular smartphone data plan. Just wanted to clear it up for anyone who wanted to know.

Don't forget activation fees. When all is said and done (ETF, activation fee, subsidized price) it might just make more sense for the OP to just stay on contract, and buy from AT&T at the full retail (unsubsidized price), which they will do. Or like you said, Amazon is a good place to check to, as they often have some very competitive pricing.

There is no regional lock sticker on Tmobile Note 3

I waited in the line in a TMobile store for an hour. There was only one customer before me. The clerk is extremely inefficient.
They have only black And there is no region lock sticker on the box.
Update: talked with one of the clerk in store, there is NO white note 3 in ANY store yet.
Sorry that you had a bad experience.
If you don't mind me asking, what was the full price, with tax, of the Note 3 at the T-Mobile store? I see on Negri it is $690, but people are saying it is $708 on T-Mobile, but I don't know if that's with tax or not.

USD 708 was before tax. That is $29.5 monthly charge for 24 months.
preorder Note 3 you had to pay 199 down, but in store you don't. The monthly payment is different.

Not being region locked kind of makes sense - all U.S. phones are carrier locked. Technically, you didn't buy a Samsung phone you bought a T-Mobile phone made by Samsung. So T-Mobile sets the policies that are applied to it. The drama about region locking really only applies in the America's and EU where "unlocked" devices are sold directly to consumers. Samsung doesn't sell direct to consumer in the U.S. so their global policies would only apply if a U.S. carrier chose to accept them.
Just got mine on web order, they had white and black but I wanted black. Special no money down so that is pretty awesome. Just taxes.

Not sure about this since you can get your phone unlocked by the carrier under certain circumstances. We'll know more as these cases write in, but it's certainly simple to check if there are blocklists implemented on US models.

Has anybody here done it for the note 5? I currently have an LG g3 and just transferred an upgrade to my line. If they are truly giving $200 and guarantee for any smartphone I have a working droid x laying here.
I dont think anyone has done this yet since you get the charger and gift card when you pick the phone up, which they wont sell until Friday.

Got mine today, traded old Droid X, got $200 GC that I was able to use towards phone. Pretty easy.
I added a new 2yr contract on my account. Bought the 64gb version for 349. Sold them an iPhone 3GS for 200. BB tried to give me the free wireless charger, but I didn't want it (already have a dozen of these things), I traded that for a $40 tempered glass. Also, they gave me a Samsung-The Next Big Thing is Here t-shirt.

I forgot.
Did everyone else have to pay $50 to get on the pre-order list? They made me pay $50, then they gave me a $50 gift card. That, with the $200 from another smartphone, you can't spend it all on the phone (unless you had over $50 in taxes?). It really bummed me out because I don't shop at bestbuy.
Yeah I had to get $50 f2f also
I got my Note 5 64GB at Best Buy first thing Friday morning. They gave me the free Samsung wireless charger but I passed on the $200 gift card. I'm getting $260 for my Note 4 from Gazelle.
Best buy wouldn't give me the wireless charger or the $200 because I paid full price.(to keep my unlimited data)
The advertising said you just have to activate the phone to get it, but in the store they claim you have to activate it "on a new contract".
I was going to buy it anyway and they price matched Verizon so I went ahead and got it. But I won't be buying from BB again.

All the Best Buys around Los Angeles seem to be out of the 64gb verizon variant. They refuse to talk about stock over the phone so I have no idea when they will get more in. Hope its before this deal runs out.

Oh I see but just making sure when you went to get the phone the gift-card they give you used it right away to make the phone cost less? that's what I need to know I don't want to look stupid if I go and upgrade and they will tell me they can't apply it towards the phone
thanks!

Yep they'll make sure your old trade in phone turns on and off, no cracks, they didn't even ask for my charger. Once they verify it's in working condition they'll do some "rebate thing" and give you $200 gift card. Then at the end they'll renew your contract and give you total for everything. That is when you used gift card and pay difference. If you have rewards certificate make sure you tell them about it also so you can use those also.

Ok great would you mind going into my verizon and just clicking on your line with note5 and tell me what was exactly the agreement starting price? if it was -200 it should be maybe somewhere 500 something or less if you got the 32gb. That was last question thanks!

Good to know. I was going to buy mine at best buy just for the charger.
$349.99 for 64gig -$200 trade in= $149.99, this is with contract renewal. Of course tax added on.

Oh you got it on contract alright I thought you did it with device payment. Verizon wants 262$ for me to pay give up my note4 in order to get the 5. I think I will pass on this offer though.
