How to Build I717 from original android and samsung source

Hi,
Im new with android develoopment so please bear with a n00b. can someone guide me how to build ics rom using the source provided by samsung..
I have downloaded the original android ics source and samsung's source.. I can build the android source but I dont know how to plug in the samsung code. Unfrotunately, sammy's documentation is insufficient probably about 10 lines, just says to overwrite the android source and do a make. But when I run make I get errors...
I've been looking at the forums most of them build from the cm10 source, but I want to build using the original. Figured I would learn more if I tried to build it from the actual sources..
Appreciate any help. If I learn, I would definitely pay it forward by contributing whatever I can to the community..
Thanks
You need to post this in the Galaxy Note phone section.
Wrong section. 1) Dev sections are for builds and modifications. 2) wrong device thread. This is for the galaxy note 10.1 tablet.

Wrong forum and building pure AOSP for Samsung non-Nexus devices is impossible, too many framework changes needed. Android userspace is Apache licensed so this is unfortunately legal.

[SEE-THIS]-[PETITION]-Micromax to release kernel source and other drivers !

~MODS PLEASE DON'T DELETE THIS THREAD~
Micromax is the largest growing Indian brand and are making android phones without releasing kernel sources for their products which are running Google's open source OS .
It is important as when developers will get their hands on to the Kernel source and other drivers they will be able to give the users a different performance with custom ROM's and other tools.
They are not releasing the kernel sources for their android phones which is making difficult to developers for making much more advanced ROM's like cyanogen etc .......In this way they are violating gpl licenses
Please help us by signing this petition and forcing them to release the kernel sources !
we would be VERY Thankful to the persons who will be signing this petition !!
PLEASE Help us we are very very Hungry for kernel sources !!
we, Micromax-mobile users will be very thankful to u guys if u sign this petition !:good:
It wont take more than 2 minuets to sign this
once again i say please sign it God will bless u all !

Ask Samsung for Exynos sources (Marvell inside)

We all know that we need the source code to build a working ROM (like CyanogenMod).
So, please, keep pushing Marvell to release it, because ROM development for this tablet can't go forward as it is now.

Hi!
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy TAB 3 7.0 and I wanted to install a custom ROM on it.
But source code is missing for Marvell PXA988 chipset and no one can build a working ROM.
Can you release source code for your chipset, so developers can improve our device?
Thanks in advance

Dear Marvell,
I bought a Samsung Galaxy TAB 3 7.0 and I'm happy with it, but I will be more if developers are able to build custom ROMs for this device.
They really need Sources for your Marvell PXA988 chipset, because without them they can't go forward.
Please, release them, and they will make this device go fast as double as it is now.

A Marvell-powered device user

Should we send u Tab 3 7 as a gift, for developed in CM?
First he needs the sources, then he will be able to build a working CyanogenMod 11; maybe with sources this device will get also official support from CM Team

No. Even Marvell Chief Executive Officer/founder was born in Indonesia, Marvell in general not too friendly to open source world
I hope this is fruitful!

@Sharpie603 You need to call them and ask for Marvell PXA988 chipset sources
I'm still waiting for the email
As @ketut.kumajaya says, marvell looks like not familiar with open sources world. It's hopeless...

There's no Android open source initiative related to Marvell.
We just need to try.
We can't stay with a 2013 tablet stuck with Android 4.1.2
We shouldn't of bought a 2013 tablet with 2011 specs

Marvell's engineer told me to ask Samsung for sources.
They don't have them.

[Completed] [Q] compilation: wlan - custom kernel - Redmi note 4G

Hi All,
Please guide me to the right thread to post this query I have...
===
I am facing a challenge in compiling and getting the wlan (pronto) driver working for my Redmi Note 4G.
After the kernel source was released I have successfully compiled the kernel and booted it up.
However, I found that kernel source which xiaomi released on github is missing the wlan source...
Due to this, I am not able to use WiFi on my custom kernel...
I did a lot of analysis and tried to get the code of Prima's WLAN with Pronto support from other device branches to get the WiFi working.
But I have not been successful so far...
Hence I request here to guide me on the following:-
1) In case this has already been answered successfully in another thread, please guide me to it. I was not able to locate it.
OR
2) Please help me along to successfully get the WiFi working on the compiled custom kernl from the source...
OR
3) Please give me enough evidence that I will not be able get WiFi / WLAN drivers needed for custom kernel on REDMI note 4G, in which case I will abandon XIAOMI devices and request everyone in my ability and reach to not buy their devices!
Kindly guide me...
I am a developer with good technical knowledge, but new to Android arena...
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. I think the best place for your question would be in this section:
Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
No response in two days, thread closed.

Kernel source released !

Anyone who is willing to and capable of building custom rom and twrp recovery, should visit open source website of samsung.
Galaxy M40's source files have been released there. I am no developer. So I am unable to help.
Someone please begin the project and keep a donation channel open so that we can help you.
Thanks
