Galaxy 3 5800 Apollo - Rom Kitchen

Any guidance for building the rom kitchen for 5800 ? or using a galaxy kitchen to brew some custom Roms...

update 1/1/11
Using the rom kitchen from nokia7 tutorial .. and the basicrom files uploaded .. i tried building myself one test rom..
after taking the output_**.zip file and renaming it to update.zip.. tried flashing using the recovery mode..
it failed giving message update file found not ok..
any idea what i did wrong? while verfying via the kitchen it thru some warning.. but no idea why it failed..

Maybe because the ROM structures are diferents?
Don't try to use files from SGS FW (the tuto from Nokia7Vista its about this phone, not SG3).
Its just a knowledge base to us!

Ohh .. Any idea how other guys are making custom roms?

the rom basic is uploaded by someone in here.. i tot this is for galaxy 3 and eclair ?

yes. its for eclair 2.1, not for froyo. its different....... what is rombasics and where can i find it?

Here is the RomBasics.zip for I-5800 this is based on I5800XXJPA rom "Froyo 2.2"
uploaded to many sites
the download link in the attached text file
Use it at your own risk I won't be hold responsible if you break, damage your phone
Am new here but I'll try to do a quick guide on how to cook your own rom, am kinda busy these days but the guide will be here soon enough

I was (half) asking if its possible. I think you need to extract some files from jpf. modem.bin and zimage are easy to extract, however redbend_ua? What is it used for? Also what is the META_INF folder used for? Is it possible that it is not firware specific?

Am wondering too is that posible i have apk dialer of 4.3 now we just need to make update zip I try with some tools on forum but they are old an didnt work...if u know how to make zip ?!

Don't need to use much brain! Simply download ZipMe from Google Play Store! And by this app you can make flashable zips.

You also need to make an updater script, otherwise flashable zip ain't gonna fall from skies lool

No need to make udater-script if your using ZipMe App! It automatically makes flahsable zips.

Dude.... If you want to make a flashable zip of custom ROM, then you must have to edit or make one updater script, zipme will make a updater script for you, but you have to change the block locations and do the symlink command by hand

Inorder to make Flashable CWM
u need to place the img file and Make A MANIFST.MF file.
The MANIFST.MF file contains the path to flash etc etc
U Need To Have JAVA knowledge to make it.
Or search for videos on YOUTUBE

The best thing I could find was this. Nobody appears to have written a proper, easy-to-follow app backporting guide, so Google's official one was the next best thing.

I thought that being a "deodex" was a change, and that this section was adapted.

Just use Lorddroid deodexer (look for it on xda ) and deodex your firmware.
I recommend doing a fresh install (flash .ftf via Flashtool). Copy the needed system folders (system app, priv app, framework, .sqsh files and buld.prop) on the PC, deodex them and flash the flashable .zip
I had some problems with it, but after fresh install everything was fine :good:

After deodexing check if classes.dex files are there in apks

If there are no classes.dex files in apk files after deodexing. That means its not deodexed and that failed to deodex firmware.

Yeah, I know what your're talking about, I also got bootloop the first time I've tried it.
It worked after I did a fresh install (and it worked from the first time), if you haven't, try that, otherwise idk

FINALLY! After 2 days of flashing when my S7E glass broke. Thanks so much!

i had all files stored on my hdd and uploaded some on my mega drive. Good thing i didnt delete all. I still have the z3 and i use it so i have some files incase these things happen glad it helped

it is hard to find some files and i cant remember where i found them but i got lucky on some of them. Like you sadi most links are dead and no one updates them.

Yes this advanced kernel (with TWRP inside it) is for kitkat 4.4.4 23.0.A.2.93....I guess whether D6653 or D6603 can use it.
