I am eagerly waiting for this Lenovo A850 because it has Mali-400 GPU which supports high end games easily. Lenovo announced this device in India in august and forgot it. A850 is my first preference because of Mali-400, 2nd is P780 with 4000mah battery and 3rd is Huawei G700 with 2GB RAM.

Does Lenovo A850 has proximity sensor ? Does screen turns off when A850 brought near to the ear ? I read Lenovo A850 manual and there is everything but no mention of proximity sensor. Please confirm.

Hello, I'm french so maybe I did not understant correctly, but when somebody call me (or when I call somebody) the screen become black and the screen wakes up when I put the phone far away my ear.

hi...even this Lenovo A850 is powerful phone, but the small storage is killing me..2GB internal and no options to set default installation to ext sdcard or move data to sd card is quite a big disappointment..so, anybody know how we can swap storage method that perfectly working?i've tried so many step that i can get here in xda still failed to swap...but what i learnt is A850 is the China firmware hav the setting to set default location to SD Card but the universal or ROW firmware doesn't hav it...but when i used the China firmware, i cant run PlayStore at all...tried so many steps to fix it still failed..so i convert back to ROW and hoping somebody can show me the way to swap internal <> external storage without problem..

you can use FolderMount.. it works fantastic.. im using a A850 right now and using foldermount to assign installed apps esp. games to the SDcard
once installed open foldermount...
1) click on apps analyzer
2) select application that you want to transfer
3) create pair then just click yes
4) click the check to save
5) click on the pin symbol it will turn green when activated
it will then transfer the file to SD card.

Rooting a850 is far the easiest rooting i have ever done. Just install Framaroot its an apk once installed open it and click on the superSU or superuser...im using superSU thrn click Boromir ..your phine might need to restart but after that you are now rooted

Hi.i bought this phone about 2 weeks.im already flashed custom rom s121.all is good. But for the gpu, i think mali400mp is not good as powervr sgx544 in my lenovo tablet a3000h because I play minion rush i feel a bit lag and the graphics details was not so good.

But it didn't work for me.

For me it looks fine.
Maybe the backcover looks a liile bit cheap.
It's made from very thin plastic
But I use a hardcover....therfore I had no problems

in system\build.prop you find
ro.bird.control.naviBar=true
persist.sys.naviBar=true
ro.naviBar.height=54
set it to false, false, 0 and the buttons are gone.
But take care: you need a menu botton. So I would suggest to use the button in top of volume +.
go to /system/usr/keylayout/mtk-kpd.kl and edit "Key 113 to MENU".
Once more: Take care! Without the menu button it´s difficult to save or do anything else!!!!!!! So before reboot set key 113 to MENU!!!!

another way to root is flashing the rooted TAIWAN-ROM. It´s multilanguage of course.
As I wrote the problem is that the rear camera is lost then.
There has to be a solution for it I hope!!!

This phone is better with etotalk mod. I got it from etotalk, with their rom, which is better than stock, rooted, and with usefull tools apps etc
did you have any problems after installing apps on your phone? mine is stuck at the boot logo after i loaded all the apps i downloaded from playstore.

any app.. as long as someting is installed already... i flashed the rom and changed it to native android (not the IOS themed) now all is fine and faster.

The H2000+ have two internal memories: memory 1 (768Mb) and the phone storage (2GB).
I put another 8 GB SD Card to install the GPS navigation and his maps.
I installed Sygic in phone storage and put the maps on the SD Card of 8 GB.
The Sygic app opens correct, but the maps are not recognized.
Anyone know how I can fix this?
Another question: is it possible to install or move apps on the SD Card 8Gb?

The internal memory is one, 4GB, and it is partitioned, 2GB as /sdcard ~800MB as /data etc
Probably sygic searches for maps on /sdcard. Find a way to set sygic to read from /sdcard2 (the external micro sd, not sure how is mounted on yours, check with x-plore and tell me), or make a link of the maps folder to /sdcard, using link2sd

thanks for this, I recieved my zophone nano version today, and my review so far is :
battery life is good,
gps don't find me any gps satellite
cannot or don't know how to dual boot
Wifi signal and 3g from time to time drops and reconnects on its own
not been able to install googleplay
im able to manage my three accounts of email with the default email iphone app
kinda laggy on the unlock screen and so on..
I'm looking to install google play
and it'd be good to have an updated or tweaked ROM ... sooo good
anyways thanks for opening this threath and if anyone has any questions , feel free to ask!

google play, navigator, youtube, gmail and maps are now installed and u can launch em without crashing or anything.
the problem is now tho, when u try to use any of them, and try to log in your google account, it keeps looking to sync but it fails.

Any News on the Dual boot for this phone like propper dual boot because i was gonna try and put cynogen mod 10 on it but i didn't wanna lose my original IOS rom and btw what is G apps
hi, G apps are Google apps. navigator, maps, places etc...
My zophone is totally useless now,,,, from gps not working to sd cards damaged and now i can't even install any app....
I cannot flash any ROM to have the phone fixed again because when i connect my phone via USB all the computers i've tried just crashes and shuts down.
so with that, and from the phone not being able to read the sd card, i don't have a way to transfer the update.zip package to be able to flash the rom with the recovery image provided....
damnn..... this phone has been a mess.
I'm ordering the goophone i5.. just gonna flash mayianjay rom's and leave it there.. cos who knows how the chineses designed the file structure of these phones..
advices:
DONT REMOVE ANY APP OR MOVE ANY APP FROM THE IOS -> i did change some apps to SD and then when i reboot the apps disappeared from sysetm and i wasn't allowed to install anything else.
I you buy the zophone.. leave it like it is or you will have a 300$ bricked nice looking phone
as for the android cheap, i think thats the fake zophone if i remeber correctly, if it has 1 gb is fake zophone, and i think that one either has 1gb or is the microsim version and not the nanosim version.

I FIXED IT!!! SUCCESSSS!!!
it's been a week sleeping only 4 hours and stright work ....but.....WORTH IT!
ok so basically my lightnight cable was the issue i just cut and connect a usb normal cable together with the lightnigh cable ( the 8 pin connector) and that gave me acces to the phone.
Then using flashtool and downloading the rom from zophone.hk (translating in chinese and signing up thanks to a chinese friend) i was able to chat (translating via google) with an zophone agent who lead me to a post where i could download the official rom.
after that i connected the phone to the pc , load the files into flashtool then shut down the phone the connecting the phone to usb and then pressing firmware updating, i flashed the official ROM,
but it was android!!!!
i had to install an app called andrew app and move it to the sd card, then execute it, then the password is zophonei5, then it'll install some files and boot THEN VOILA!!!!
zophone factory new rom all fixed PHONE!!
ROM and ANDREW app to switch from android to ios
zophone(dot)hk/bbs/thread-8078-1-1.html
also look for the USB VCOM driver for 6577 and installit before all the process.
you have to be logged in order to download the rom.
about the REAL dual boot system... i just don't care now. im finally happy with my zophone!
now i'll just have to root it and that'd be all!!
GPS i read in the chinese forum, that i might no even have gps.. only locate via internet (if lucky) but it'd be nice to have it!

I've got a zophone i5 (from dhgate-efit) but when I plug it via usb on my w7 computer, i don't see the zophone contents.
I can see 2 drives letters(1 for each sdcard) but i can't see the contents.
It charges correctly, but it seems there are no w7 drivers.
Is there a way to got W7 drivers for zophone i5 ?

you can save my ass! can you please make a backup of your phone and upload the file? that would be awsome. you need to go to the recovery (vol - & home & power) press the home button when the android appears, then go to backup user data with vol + or - and swipe at the bottom from right to left over the screen.

Ok but the problem is that I can't access the contents of my zophone because my W7 doesn't recognize it.
did you activated the usb mass storage in the drop down menu? i have win7 too and no problems at all.

Yes it is activated because I see the 2 sdcards drive letters, but when i plug the zophone w7 claims for drivers that are not available.
UPDATE:
I got USB drivers for the zophone HERE
Now I can see the contents of the zophone sdcards. I instaled google play store, but doesn't work: it starts and closes just after starting.

I have removed bloatware from the original rom. Also wherever possible replaced Lenovo specific applications
with open source ones. LED notifications work thanks to the integrated ButtonLED application.
You can select the SD card as the default storage
Instructions for installation:
First flash Linerty´s rom S116 or S121 (to double the amount of DATA space, ie. for better partitioning)
Then install this ROM via recovery (md5sum: 05ed1d5272ad2c80cf207587d4fc9fff recovery.img)

After first boot allow root permissions to ButtonLED and configure it for LED notifications (Except in the Lenovo A850 the led is green/led, the first option in autolocate)

In sysytem properties I have:

Unistall a big app and try again. If your app is installed than you do not have space where your apps are going... the question is "where" are they going....

If AVG was bigger than the app you are trying to install then something is messed up...
I looked again the spaces you provide and sth is not right...

I dont know, but I am near sure that I have similar situation from the beginning, when I changed the ROM. But that sounds strange from the begging also for me.
And the other sttrange thing - when I am tryiung to connect via MyphoneExplorer I cant get any records from phonebook, cal and SMSes.

I do not know that app... Syncronize your contact with google and backup your SMS with an app from the store.
Flash the phone... and your problems will be lost...
Always make a backup before anything... (a backup from recovery)

I believe that the most stable ROM is s121 from Linerty. Look it up on needrom.

I am using s121 from Linerty and it's not that stable as u might think. i got multiple force closed games,and the reknown " using SD card as default memory" is not working quite like that. i still got " low internal storage" errors. is this version more stable and using SD card as default memory correctly ?

I have completely no problems using Linerty's rom and if there is a rom with the most stable sd swap feature, that is linery's. I do not know what rom you are using or how you integrated it...

NOTE: You need to flash this mod once only, as this isn't inuded in system or data! So custom ROMs won't affect it

Plz anyone tell is this phone worth buying? I mean the specs mentioned are genuine? The pixels of camera shows that it has 8MP rear camera while they say it's 13MP shooter.

2) Install zip > chose from SD > locate to where your zip is > hit yes > follow next steps.
managed to install the 7gb partition but now when am accessing kingroot its saying that my phone is not rooted and when i try to root it, it fails... :S

Wipe the data.
managed to get the system working. Installed the stock rom and everything is working fine now - but strangely the partition size has decreased to around 4gb.
All is well now

Hi everyone,
I just want to share about this Lenovo S856 LTE rom. Yesterday, I have accidentally uninstall 1 system app which is I do not know if it will make this device bricked and it is IDEA.apk and some themes app. Before that, I have also root this device using kingroot and all work fine as it should. Spent all night trying to find best solution as the device won't booting and just stuck at bootanimation and ended with blackscreen. Since this is my first time using this model, I also don't know it's quiet complicated to flash new ROM with QPST softwares.
But thanks to whoever who compiled this Lenovo s856 rom into 1 flashable file ( QSB file ). It's huge than normal ROM I ever found, it was 1.5 GB and I did successfully recover my device after several attempt and findings.
Firstly, download ROM - I can't include ext links here as I'm still new :angel:, you can find the rom Lenovo_S856_ROW_S138_141113 from google drive. Using IDM would be great to download this 1.1GB zip file.
2. Enter recovery mode by pressing Vol + and Vol - together and press Power button and reset device to its factory. ( format data/cache)
3. Reboot again and now enter Service Mode by pressing Vol - and Power button. There is 13 options available and selecting them using volume button and power button is for OK.
4. Choose number 5 ( factory reset ) and number 6 ( erase user data ) this is necessary as I tried once skipping this option and device keep rebooting non stop. I'm not sure what makes it rebooting and rebooting. maybe caches or dalvik not wiped completely using recovery wipe method.
5. Choose number 8, ( backup MRD data ) and next number 10 ( Save Parameter ) to backing up modem files into your external SD card.
[Edit] 6. Once you got your download file ready, extract it into your PC or directly to your sdcard ( external sd ).
7. Create a 'new folder' in sdcard and rename it to 'sdfuse' and copy .qsb ROM file you extracted earlier into sdfuse folder. So the path will be /sdcard1/sdfuse/romfile.qsb
And now, reboot into service mode. Now choose number 4 ( SD update ) and let's it do it work, flashing will take about 5 minutes.
and REBOOT!
Now, let see if you're having any issue e.g stuck at boot, please repeat the process once again and I'm sure it will fix.
And if phone not detecting your SIMcard. please boot into Service Mode and choose number 11 ( Load Parameter ) and REBOOT.

Hi mate thanks for the info, i have td-lte model i think is cn set. I have problem with low ram issue, my free ram always below 300mb which causing game auto quit eg. Coc, boombeach. It started auto quit when free ram reach below 150mb. Need restart phone to restore free ram above 300mb then can run game but after a few play the game auto quit again, also having problem keyboard not display in game due to low ram. I find out that the vibe ui is consume alot of ram than non vibe, example open setting it consume about 66mb of ram, with non vibe from lenovo a536 just used 23mb of ram. Now im root and disable unimportant system app to free up more 300mb ram just to get some game run. When compare mine s856 without app running with a536, mine will get average 350mb(heavily system app disable)free ram but a536 without app easily get 550mb free ram. Any solution? Or how to downgrade to non vibe.

Just try the ram expander app, it really works, my coc didnt quit automaticaly and keyboard works in game, i set swap file to 200mb just for testing, but suffer lag maybe my class 10 kingston memory card not perform as fast as it should or didnt fast enough to the system requirement. Thanks anyway mate as its another option to avoid app close.:good:

Need for MRD and Parameters data backup.
Unfortunately, restoring modem configuration (11 . Load Parameter) doesn't work for ROW firmwares installed on Chinese models.

I also flashed Lenovo_S856_ROW_S138_141113 because the stock ROM was the Chinese one. While the OS is far more stable and polished now, 3G/LTE functionality now is gone... GSM radio signal is also less stable than before.
I'm desperately trying to find the original Chinese stock ROM so as to backup MRD and Parameters but... no way, only ROW firmwares out there.
I'm wondering whether your phone is the same Chinese LTE version (MSM8926 CPU, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB ROM) of mine and, if you saved those MRD and Parameters data, you want/can share them with me in order to allow me to bring 3G/LTE functionalities back.

Apparently, I'm not very sure if my S856 is China Set or not ( but well.. specs are same with yours though ). You can try to restore this MRD and Parameters backup files onto your phone.
Backup your own modem files first and copy paste them into separate folder ( e.g : 'sdfuse-backup' ) in case something going wrong.

sorry for the late reply. Actually I managed to take those files out from a stock Chinese ROM, but simply saving/restoring them through the Service Menu doesn't do the job. I guess there are other file and settings in /system and/or in other partitions that are needed in order to make modem working.
In the end, I just reflashed a Chinese ROM flashing also GApps and SuperSU through TWRP, and I'm fine with the result.
I'd like to thank you, however, for your efforts to help me in sorting the issue out -- it was very kind of you.

Please try to:
pull the battery out;
wait 20-30 seconds;
plug the battery in;
plug the USB cable to the PC end only;
and keeping pressed Volume-Down...;
... plug also the microUSB connector to the phone;
release the Volume Down after 3-5 seconds;
check via Device Manager if a 'Bulk' interface has been detected.
If not, retry the same procedure but keep pressing the Volume-Up, this time.
If the Bulk interface got detected by Windows, use the MiFlash tool to flash your favourite firmware again.
Remember to disable the Windows' 'Driver Signature Enforcement' at the boot-up, and disable also any Host-IPS and Antivirus running on your machine.

Weeww.. That's quiet buthurted. You can try to fix it using MiFlash tools as said by Luigi.
Always take a pre-caution step before flashing/updating ROM. Make sure your battery is at 80% and above or just plug in the charger while doing live update.[emoji1]

Did you flash a custom recovery (e.g. TWRP)?
If so, restore the stock recovery first, and then try again.

Hi Pjajiro,
Where did u put that .qsb file? Actually, you have to create a 'new folder' in your sdcard root and rename it to 'sdfuse' and put the ROM qsb file in it. And try again. [emoji1]
My apologies, I have forgot to include that step in this thread, and will edit the line asap.
If you still get the same error, then it might be caused from ROM itself. Maybe its not for your device.
