so i noticed today while trying to put hyperdrives newest on my phone to load later, it takes absolutely forever to actually transfer
im talking like almost an hour to download and about the same to transfer from my computer to the phone. plenty of room and ive restarted phone and computer and same thing happens.
anyone else run into this and have a fix???
Has nothing to do with the ROM or file and everything to do with your PC and what software you are using to transfer with. Since you didn;t describe that. no way of knowing what's wrong.
windows 7 dell optiplex 790
new verizon transfer cord
what else is needed
How big is the file? Is it much bigger than previous files? If it took a long time to d/n and the file is much bigger, there's your answer. If it's not then your internet connection could be the issue for downloading. Also if it's a huge file it will take some time to transfer. Do you know if your computer has USB 2.0 or 3.0/ss?

I've searched the forums and all I've found so far is sdcard issues with the evo.. so I apologize ahead of time if there's a thread for this...
I recently received a brand new sdcard.. 16gb class 4 sandisk.. I have formatted the card on both pc and phone(just to be sure everything is clear).. now when I transfer files from my pc to the phone, I only get between 1-3 mb/s.. I've recently reformatted/partitioned my pc, so it's on a clean install.. I've also recently wiped the phone and flashed a new rom.. but it doesn't really matter what rom I use, I still get those slow speeds.. I was at a friends yesterday and transferred files using their laptop and I was getting between 15-17 mb/s transfer speeds.. any ideas as to why I don't get the same on my pc? Thanks to all that may respond!
I used to get slow copy speeds with my Win 7 64bit PC, I don't remember the actual figures. I now use some copy software which seems to have improved speeds. I think it's called Ultracopy.

Gotcha... well, I'm on win 7 32bit and my friends laptop has windows vista 32bit...so I'm still kind of guessing as to why transfer speeds were much higher on their laptop than they are on my pc.. and I didn't do anything differently when using their laptop as I would my pc..
I think it's a Win 7 issue by the sounds of it, google for Windows 7 slow copy speeds and see what turns up.
BTW, there are SD speed test apps in the Market, give one a try to test your cards speed when in your phone.

Will do... Thanks UK
Maybe it's a driver issue?? Who knows at this point.. I just know that 1.2mb/s transfer speeds really suck
Just checked which software I use, it's actually TeraCopy (free version) .
http://www.codesector.com/teracopy.php
sometimes its something stupid when it comes to it, it could be not USB 2.0/3.0, could be USB data cable, and can be simply win 7 not caching the sdcard to make it read faster
I had random issue with my phone, if i use my toshiba to transfer i notice its slower than my 4 year old acer with crappy specs
but when i switch my data cable, then i see it fly on transfers

Try use a micro sdcard reader, if the problem still exist, it is either your PC or the card.
if the problem is fixed, it is either your phone or cable
So I got an incident with my phone, if you wanna now about it, its at my sig, but the thing is that I dunno why or how, sometimes my computer does recognizes my phone and display the Turn on USB storage option at the notification bar, but each time I try to turn it on it just wont work. Attached is a logcat whenI try to enable it, maybe someone could tell me why it wont work.
What rom are you running for those off that are on the xda application?

Normally I got two nandroids a GB based one and an ICS based one, right now Im using both Eagle's Blood 2.3.7 v2.8 and ICS 4.0.3 Build 1. But I had this problem since... always. I'm a flashaholic so i have tested actually every rom from stock 2.2.2 to beta 4.0.3... I even have a nandroid of my original ROM (the one that came with it when y bought it and rooted it) and not even there works. The only clue i have right now is that only if I disable USB debugging it will randomly connect.
This may sound dumb but have you tried a different usb cable? I had the same problem and tried my girls and my phone was able to connect each and every time. another thing I noticed with my phone is that it sometimes won't connect using windows 7...xp no problem but 7 it plays hard to get.

No man, doesn't sounds dumb, actually if you read the "issue" background on my sig, you'll notice that I have made all those steps... its not a big deal, there are SDCard Readers and the bluetooth but... itw not the same.

Ok but my bad I can't see your sig since I use the app most of the time. Yea its not the same

Holy Mother of God! I did it! In one of those "random" times my comptuter recognized my phone I just pulled out the batt unplug/plug again the cable, keeping both vol buttons pressed and it reconginzed the APX decive! Then all I had to do was NVFlash again, restore the stock 2.2.2 Nandroid i had somewhere and play a bit with the USB mount/debbug options, flashed both storages (using gparted for the microSD) and it works! Now have to restore everything to my SD and reflash latest cm7...
Nice!

Talked too early, if. I restore my nandroid the issue continues... -_____- Gonna try doing everything again...

Did you ever figure this out? Sounds like your having the same problem that i am.
I've tried at least 6 different cables, home PC, work PC, laptop and a co-worker's PC that didn't have anything vmware installed (had a hunch that vmware usb drivers were the cause). Oh, all the computers were win7x64.
I've only rooted my phone and upgraded to 2.3.3 so nothing crazy going on there and it's worked for months since i did both of those.
I have a feeling that this may have been a recent windows update, but no clue when or which one because i haven't really cared that it didn't work. If i had to guess i'd say mine stopped working about 3 months ago... again, hard to remember.

Make sure usb debugging is turned off.
Plug in the phone, enable usb storage.
Right click on the phone drives in the explorer and click on eject.
Turn off usb storage.
Unplug and plug in again.
Enable usb storage.
Drives should work now.
This did it for me. Since then if I remember to eject before unplug I haven't seen any issues.

Thanks for the reply, I'll give that a shot.
Curious though, when yours was having problems, did windows detect anything? For instance, when I plugged mine into my co-workers pc there are zero pop ups about new hardware detected.

I had the same problem. Dirt in the mini-USB port can cause that problem.
Take a can of compressed air and blow it into the mini-USB port (blowing with your mouth isn't enough). Also, take a close look at the port with a magnifying glass and look for any dirt or discoloration in there.
Do the same with your cable.
Not working after install RemICS 1.3.2

Hi, this problem occur to me after I've installed RemICS 1.3.2 ROM (CM9 based), I did follow the installation steps from beginning, when the problem occur, I did re-flash the same ROM several times, but this problem still unsolved.
I did try all recommendations (blow out dirt, disable usb debugging etc) but still not success.
This ROM should able to detect USB when phone connected with PC, but somehow I don't know why. Any experts recommendation?

Hey, just thought I'd register an account because I stumbled upon this thread because I had the same issue verbatim and I managed to get it working.
I ended up using the USB 3.0 ports on my desktop and suddenly it picks up my g2x without fail everytime. With that said, I'm lead to believe that perhaps its an issue of power. Maybe the USB 2.0 ports you're using simply aren't providing enough power. Not sure what its worth or if my issue was something unrelated but maybe that bit of information is something to work with. =)
Found another solution that fixed the problem for me.
If you are using Windows XP, log on as an Administrator and open Device Manager
Select View > Show Hidden Devices
Scroll down to Storage Volumes, and expand
Right-click on each entry and select Update Driver.
This fixed the problem for me!
i searched this forum for the solution...however the thread it led me to, was over half a year ago and they didn't have a solution on what to do but to call tmobile and get a replacement phone...so yeah, i was using hellfire phoenix on windows 7 (64 bit), last week it worked, today it's no hope...i still had hellfire sandiwich saved on my phone, so i tried that rom, no luck...i have uninstall/reinstall the driver and rebooted on my phone, computer multiple times...the phone charges while connected but no connection to pc...i was wondering if anyone can help me out please...thank you

Turn on USB debugging. Usually helps me. Then turn on mass storage. It might take a while to connect. If that doesn't work there are a couple other things you could try.

If push comes to shove, you can always mount the SD card in recovery.

I've heard that has a tendency to corrupt files and should only be used as a last resort.
Pin it to Win it.

Yesterday I tried to copy a couple different ROMs onto the device using USB. The transfer speed was ultra slow (crawling at like 1 kB per sec). In the past I was able to copy movies over quickly, etc. Not sure what changed, same ROM. Tried rebooting both the OX and the PC, but the issue persists. Has anyone ever seen this?

Yep! This happened with my old Captivate, and it usually involves replacing your USB cable. Have you tried a different one?
Plus, you could always use a MicroSD Card to transfer files.
Thansk mitchchaiet, I will give a different cable a try - did not think of that, hopefully that simple trick solves it.
MicroSD card... not sure what you mean, as the OX does not have an SD card slot...
When I plug my phone in to my PC, with Win 10, it recognizes the phone and I can navigate around but I can not transfer any pics to the PC. Anyone have any ideas why not? I get the attached error.
OK I got it all figured out. There are always things you should try before asking for help. Like rebooting phones, PCs, but that wasn't it this time. The other thing to always try is a different USB cord, that was the issue.
Yeah I've found that you need to use the original samsung cable
