Voodoo sound, how? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently running Android 4.3 version of Slim Bean and I've been wondering how I could achieve the best quality of sound (music) on my Nexus S. How can I enable voodoo sound? Any help would be much appreciated.

Simply download Voodoo Sound app from the play store to change the settings. Voodoo Sound is built in the Marmite kernel that Slimbean comes with. You have nothing to install.

No, but if you have root and the paid version of the voodoo sound app, you should be able to take advantage of the voodoo sound features as the paid app has the module needed to use voodoo sound.

This is what I saw as well when using EP1F, I quickly refunded the app. Using GummyCharge 1.9 now on Froyo and Voodoo Sound is working.

AFAIK, Samsung will have to first release the source to a GB kernel before a module for it can be built.

How do I get Voodoo sound

Hi, I just flashed my first rom , the icbinb kh1 2.3.4 rom. Everything went smooth and the phone runs incredibly slick. I also installed Voodoo control app it says I am not running a Kernel that supports extended sound controls. Is there a kernel compatible with this rom that supports voodoo sound? Thanks.
load the driver and then have it load at boot the 2 check boxes and your good enjoy

I'm sorry, I'm still a little new at this. Which driver are you referring too? And when you say load it, do you mean flash it with CWM?

in the voodoo sound app if it says the drivers not loadede load it load voodoo sound app if it doesnt take u to the kernel options hit the menu button paper looking button that lights up at the bottom of ur phone
hit the kernel opiton that pops up on screen first 2 chceck boxes click em
The voodoo control app actually says:
Voodoo sound improvements
sorry, this device doesn't run a kernel supporting extended sound controls.
so it sounds like the ICBINB KH1 GB rom I am running doesn't have voodoo sound. It does have voodoo lagfix though. So I'm guessing I have to flash another cutom kernel that has voodoo sound.

here let me post a pic all you need to do is check the first and second box to enable the sound because it will driver hack it
You have to get the paid version the paid version lets you modify sound with or without a modified kernel as long as you have root

Got the plus version now, and got it sorted. I didn't have the options you were referring to, as it's only available in the plus version. I was initially running the free version, then saw steeleain's post. Thanks again, and thanks to steeleain for the heads up.

I was wondering why all these people were telling him/her to get the paid app and doing all this set up stuff when the kernel itself doesn't support voodoo sound lol.

AOKP M5 and VOODOO

I can't seem to get voodoo sound to run on stock AOKP M5 with stock kernel.
I bought the voodoo sound plus, but when i load the driver i get a ''voodoo sound driver loading error''.
I'm rooted and it has the correct permissions etc.
Anyone have any success with this?
Perhaps the stock kernel doesn't have voodoo settings? Not really sure. The first thing I do is flash a kernel and voodoo everything is working fine for me.

Yes but i thought the whole point of the paid version of voodoo is that it loads the necessary drivers into the kernel :S
Doesn't AOKP on our phones have Pete's kernel as stock? I thought one of our members had the module loaded for Voodoo with Petes kernel.

No idea about the kernel, but definitely not working :/
Bumping this as i'm desperate.
AFAIK, voodoo module only loads on stock ICS kernel, not pete's. But check his thread in development, I remember there was a debate about it some time ago, don't know what was the conclusion.
Although if you're a fan of a stockish kernel, load up SimpleKernel from terryhau, it's built from stock ICS sources and has Voodoo & BLN added.

[Q] Voodoo and compatible kernels and KK

Is there a way to run on 4.4.2/3 and then run on Voodoo compatible kernel and get Voodoo running? I heard too much to ignore the sound quality of the Nexus S.
I think voodoo sound not compatible

When I used Euroskank CM11 rom (default kernel) I can use Voodoo Sound. I think devs are merging voodoo sound with their default kernels since jelly bean.

[Q] Uber kernel question!!

Hey guys, I had a question I could use some help with.
I hear great things about uber kernel. But the problem
I am having is that when I flash the kernel my sound is not as loud
As it was. Let me explain. I am running dirty unicorns ROM with code blue
Kernel. I installed real nexus volume boost and put my settings to 95 speaker and 20 headphone setting. The sound improvement is very noticeable. But here is the problem. As soon as I flash uber kernel with same ROM and settings the sound is not as loud.. Can't figure this out.
Any help would be great.

did you reflash the zip from the real nexus 5 volume boost app? if you reflash a rom, you have to reflash the volume boost.

Try disabling uber default settings through uber_v1.3.cfg (1st option to set to 0 instead of 1).
