[Q] Pantech Sky Vega A850L -- OS Corrupted - General Questions and Answers

Dear Friends,
I'm having problem with "Pantech Sky Vega A850L" .... I bought it used from the local market. It was working fine until after a day , I popped out the SIM & restarted the phone. Since then, it shows me a screen saying "System Restart because of Application Operation Error". I found a ROM online but dont know how to flash it as everything I found was in Chinese or Korean. Can any good soul here help me?

well if you dont really need to flash the rom you can go into recovery by holding power button and volume down or up while the device is off and you can factory reset from there. let me know if anything happens, im on pretty much most of the day.

Install stock rom
I figure out your problem, i think you should install a stock rom .BINX for Vega Pantech to restore OS.

Installing a .BINX file is one option but you can also flash a stable custom ROM from CWM Recovery. The first link below has a link to the "Fastboot Mode Drivers" as well.

Try rooting through SUT!
Hi, I'm new here...
But actually, I've figured an alternate way to root it, since z4root failed to do it's job:
It's via CM7 through SUT
But from here I'd assume you that you wouldn't mind about your data being wiped.
First the CM7. Google mi 300 cm7.
For the SUT, I'd got it from Cherry Mobile. Google Cherry Mobile and search for Nova. A download link of SUT is availabe at the bottom of the page (In case if you didn't know, mi300 is named differently among countries. Cherry Mobile Nova, Commtiva Z71,... etc)
Okay, once you have the zipped SUT, extract it and install. (It works on Windows XP to 7 as I tried it out) Let everything run to the end, which in this case it will install the phone driver, and the SUT itself...
WARNING!!! Once you see the SUT interface, DO NOT CLOSE IT! The SUT acts as a temporary extracted program, closing it serves as you've done your job of updating your phone and deletes the temporary files.
After the appearance of SUT, locate to C:\Program Files\
Look for Software Update Tool Setup folder. That's your temporary guest.
Copy it to somewhere else, My Documents for example.
Then comes for the job of CM7 nb0.
Take the downloaded nb0 into the folder you've duplicated just now.
Now you will have two nb0's in the Software Update Tool Setup folder, one Android Stock 2.2 and another your CM7.
Right click your CM7 nb0, choose rename, copy the name of the nb0 (Example cm7_stable_z71_battery_fix.nb0)
Look for the config.ini in the same folder. Open it with Notepad.
Look for the line Firmware=.... (Followed by the name of default nb0-to-flash)
Replace the name with the CM7 nb0...
Save and close.
Then locate into SUTX64 or X86 (64 is for 64bit Windows, 86 for 32bit)
look for config.ini... Yes, same drill. Replace and save.
CONGRATS! You're ready for the flashing!
Access your phone recovery mode via holding camera (REMEMBER! Press it to the fullest, half pressing it (which is supposed to be auto focus for the camera) doesn't work!) and the volume up, keep the two buttons under your finger and THEN hold the power button. Once you see the "enter Recovery mode" on top left and then the android bot, press home key. Then navigate with the volume buttons to choose factory reset, using the back key as the enter key (This is a must, otherwise your phone will not boot after the flash!!!) Shut your phone down after the erase (I pulled the battery off the phone )
Start the SoftwareUpdateTool.exe in your comp.
put your phone in download mode, to do this, hold the red hangup button+vol up button THEN the power button.
NOTE: For those whose mi300 in download mode produce a drive in My Computer, please post a reply to me! Thanks!
But I digres. Attach your phone to the comp. WARNING! Put your phone in download mode THEN connect it to pc! The reverse is not true.
Your SUT should be responding as your phone connects.
Click next... The flashing should start
Once done, SUT reports failure to install the nb0. Don't fret. That's what happens when you use SUT to install a custom rom. Close the window and unplug your phone.
Your phone should boot. Otherwise do it manually.
CHEERS MAN! Your phone is ROOTED!
Post me if you have any probs! And btw ROOTING or FLASHING your phone voids your warranty, so do it with caution. I won't be responsible if you brick your phone or anything happens.
PS: The CM7 you've flashed is CM7.0.0, which tends to go cukoo... If you want, you can use CM7.0.3. It works like a charm to me~! Post me if you want instructions. Happy flashing!!

Enjoy Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread on your Galaxy Fit!!

After a looong research, & after not finding a gingerbread ROM for Galaxy Fit, I had almost given up my hopes to see 2.3.3 gingerbread on my Galaxy Fit. Well... almost!!!
Finally managed to get my hands over OFFICIAL Samsung 2.3.3 firmware for G-Fit. Samsung will eventually release 2.3.3 for Fit in India but that will probably take a long time. But if you don't want to wait, following is the way...
This is the very SHORT guide for Advanced users only. Do your own research & understand every step before you do it. I will probably update detailed steps when I get some time.
1: Goto samfirmware.com Galaxy Fit page:
Login - www.SamFirmware.com
2: Download the 2.2 FROYO firmware labelled S5670XXKB1 (This is a russian firmware but you can easily change language to English)
3: Flash the firmware over your current one with help of ODIN. Follow the guides at samfirmware.com
4: Install the latest version of Samsung Kies 2.0.0.11044-11
Link: Download Samsung Kies 2.0.0.11044_11 Free - Search, browse, download and manage apps for mobile devices - Softpedia
(Install on a OS other than windows 7, as firmware update does NOT work on win7. Xp worked for me.) You may also have to isntall .net framework 4 & windows media format 11. Search for the links on google.
5: Connect your Galaxy Fit with S5670XXKB1 & Kies will popup message a new firmware is available.
Firmware details : S5670XXKPF (GINGERBREAD.XXKPF)
6: Follow the steps to update firmware through Kies.
7: Change the language back to English from Russian.
Update: Official build 2.3.6 is now avaialable. Refer to following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19561095 ( Thanks to owner of thread)
Steps to change lanuage on android 2.2/2.3:
Goto Settings -> Locale & Text -> Select language (First option)
The option has white background with letter A on it.
Steps to root your 2.3.3 Gingerbread :
Note. SuperOneClick or any other similar apps don't work on 2.3.3 yet. At least didn't work for me.
Before going through the process of rooting you have to download a small file named upd_1.zip
1: Once you have downloaded the file copy it to your SD card. For ease of work copy it in root of SD card.
2: Switch off your handset and wait till the vibration is over.
3: Now switch the phone in recovery mode. Press and hold Power button + middle menu button together to start in recovery mode.
4: Once you are in recovery mode you will get lot of options on screen. In recovery mode touchscreen does not work, so use the volume up/down buttons to toggle through options. To confirm options press the middle button.
5: Go to the second option i.e apply update from SD card.
6: Upon selecting the second option you will need to select the fileupd_1.zip. Press the middle button to apply changes.
7: It takes 2-3 seconds to install the update.
8: Once the above step is complete, reboot your system from the first option.
9: As the phone reboots you will have super user in it. Your phone is rooted now.

I don't know what happened. But first everthing was fine. I updated the Firmware to Gingerbread.DDKT1 via Kies
and now the Media Player started saying cannot play the specified file Format.

For example in one of the Playlist I had 20 MP3 Files the Player can play about 3 Of them.
I tried Winamp, Andriod media Player and the Stock Media Player but all ended up at same point.

[Q] Is my tablet dead?

Hi, i got a prestigio multipad 5080 pro, i rooted my device and everything was fine until i changed the DPI of my device in order to play dead space. Now my device keeps says "unfortunately, launcher has stopped" on a loop is there any way to fix this? i have tried factory reset and it did nothing.
Thanks.
a good rom and stable so far.
download from here
http: // x--t-e-a-m. blogspot. it/ and click on Download:
XTeam 4.1 QUI
plus for setting your external sd as a nand *as a main installing card... use this http :// crewrktablets. arctablet. com/?wpfb_dl=330
use google translate cause its italian website...anyway ...
steps are easy ... unrar XTeam 4.1 ...
1) Turn off your device
2) Locate the folder Rockusb_driver in the XTeam 4.1 folder and install the drivers for your computer.
3) on the tablet Hold sounds Down Button and connect the device.
4) open with right click and run as administrator the rk29update.exe
5) press the button "formatta!!!"
6) tick the "Loader"
7) Download this kernel from here: http: // www .2shared. com/file/GmdSyNG1/kernel_for_pmp_5080cpro_with_o.html
replace the kernel with the one that i gave you from the link
9) press the "Aggiorna! ! " button and wait until the program overwrite the new firmware
10)when the tablet reboot it will go through cwm and the install the
Oma CM10 ExtSD To NAND OTG Fix.
11) the new firmware have OTA updater so update your tablet until you have no other updates...(i realised that i had to download the updates from ota and install them manual but anyway...)
12) in one point the updates from ota updater will change your kernel but dont worry.you will just lose temporary the screen rotation so...
install all the updates and in the end run the rk29update.exe again untick all the things there and keep only the kernel ticked and use the kernel i gave you.that match with your 5080 cpro. this time dont push formatta !!!.
Just overwrite the kernel and click aggiorna! !
your device will restart and ta da !!! you have the latest firmware for your Prestigio 5080 C PRO. overclocked and rooted with 1 giga for apps
plus 2x faster than factory's firmware.
i wanna say a big thanx to OMA for the kernel http: //crewrktablets. arctablet. com/
a big thanx to X TEAM for this awesome firmware
and a huge thanx to my self that i had the patience to search for the specific model what to do. It took me about 2 days to gather all the informations i needed.
And a huge apologize to oma that i didnt use his JB version for the prestigio tablet but i test it and it was kinda slow and laggy for my tablet xD
ps: in case that u need more info i ll be around to help you
Remember the steps are only for Prestigio PMP 5080 C PRO and NOT for the Prestigio 5080B.
For the Prestigio 5080B you must find the specific Kernel that works on the device cause else you will have problem with the ROTATION

Seems to me u probably have a device not "introducing" itself properly Or maybe it's build...
Maybe try the other way around and it right since the beginning.
Get yourself first:
- stock kernel & s/w rreinstalled (via PC Companion)
- since this is sk17i - unlock ur bootloader via official Sony way: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ (yet first watch the tutorial form Mihahn: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31376248#post31376248 )

- go in very details through here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629334 and

I am so sorry if I am bothering you or anything but I was going through the links, very handy and simple, and i came across this in the last link you have put about downlaoding a kernal .TFT
When reading through it says
Now you are ready to install a custom rom/kernel.
Let's start:
You go to development section and choose a rom you want for your device. You download the rom and the kernel for your device (make sure it is the right for yours! Sometimes the kernel is included in the installation zip file of the rom.
Now you have the boot.img and the rom
Click to collapse
Now where is the Development section?
Where do i find the Boot.img?
What is the proper one for my sk17i?
I have downloaded CM9.1 for Mango from the cm official website and there is a boot.img inside the zip, should i just extract the boot.img out and keep it near the .zip file? and should i use this instead of the mini cm provided?
I really appreciate the links you have given and hope all my doubts can be cleared for me to actually start the process
Will hit that thanks button if it is a success :good:

S/W = Software.
To install stock software, even if ur phone is in bootloop, u may use PC Companion.
1. Start mobile in Flash mode (BACK/VOL+/- pressed when phone turned off and connecting usb cable + PC Companion enabled)
2. Agree on loosing all data Choose model (be careful -u20 and sk17i and sk17a are all mini pro, use hardware version marking)
3. allow it to work - it will download stock software for ur mini pro
Effect: unroot stock phone. U can root it again with FlashTool or one of root methods (for sk17i I believe so called zergRush does the job - search forums or gogole it )
Afterwards proceed with instructions for
1. Rooting
2. Unlocking bootloader
3. Reflashing phone with custom kernel and custom ROM
BE ADVISED: Above "root/unlock bootloader" actions usually void ur warranty. Be sure what u r doing, read thoroughly steps to not brick ur phone and do not be scared if bootloop happens - just find a way to enter flash mode again and use other .tft/ROM
OR - if u have already unlocked bootloader - simply download appropriate .tft file and flash it on ur phone using FlashTool. (the so called generic sk17i ROM has been provided in .tft format here: http://rumah-android.com/official-xperia-mini-pro-sk17i-4-1-b-0-431-firmware-ics-4-0-4.html)
U mighgt want to see through some of posts here to reduce ur noobishness http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=471521
And use custom kernels/stock roms known for their stability in latest release/nigh release (search for xda forum threads).

Alright, thanks alot
Will get to it
I cant just plug my phone in and use the repair option from support zone?
It says that will erase all internal memory by replacing the software
So should I use that method?
And yeah, ive experience bootloop before so im fine and know what to do
And after all this is done and i get everything tis fine to restore my apps and studd using titanium right?

Development Section is a section of XDA forum, where crazy programmers deliver their kernels and ROMS...
This link is in Development Section, I believe the CM u r looking for:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629334
Be advised - above CM requires custom kernel sk17i, it says it in Requirements in above link -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25550442
If u succeed to unlock bootloader, it gets pretty simple, simpler than in Mihahn guide.
1. Given u have bootloader unlocked: using FlashTool u flash kernel (the .tft file) - thus u won't have to care about separate boot.img / .sin files flashing, they are incorporated in .tft thing.
2, If it suceeds - using flashtool u reset to recovery
3. USING CWM options - u mount ur USB storage
4. U put from ur PC zip with CM9
5. Unmount USB storage
6. Wipe all data as it says in ROM thread - otherwise u risk **** to hit the fan
7. Update from .zip, point to zip on sdcard
8.Relax
9. Get cofee
10. Relax
11. Watch it progress
12. Relax
13. Pray for best
14. After it finishes - reboot to normal. Be advised - first reboot after flashing ROM is always long, linux + ROM does automagic stuff
Short who's who:
kernel; linux kernel, da animal that is engine of subsequent android devices (i.e. kernel with Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Beans Adnroid releases) U NEED CAREFULLY CHOOSE THE ONE APPRIOPRIATE FOR UR DEVICE
ROM - closest to operating system u get on mobile devices, u might have different ROMs wortking on specific kernel
CWM - clockworkmode recovery - ur last resort if **** hits the fan to change ROM without reflashing kernel
I hope I got this as simple as I could... Sorry, I was former mobile s/w developer, such stuff is just usual for me, my stock u20i software didn't last 24h - I just immediately reflashed it co CM6, later to CM7 - just to have some options not available in stock rom connected to power management and application management.
EDIT: Combining answers

Yes.
Generic ROM / Repair options brings u back to stock sk17i SE ROM. I dont remeber if repair option uploaded latest update, if yes - u might still have to use generic sk17i tft thing.
With restoring option - to be honest I didn't test it. It didn't worked well for me on CM6 and CM7 upgrade, yet possibly I did not all the things right. Still, if u have backed up apps and data on sdcard, it might be possible - please check it before reflashing ROMS (just root, install latest titanium backup and simply test the stuff).
Good luck on ur journey to reflash...

U can choose any CyanogenMod marked as suitable for ur phone (xperia mini pro, sk17i), yet
- PAY ATTENTION TO REQUIREMENTS: rooting, unlocking bootloader, which kernel version etc.
- READ SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE EXECUTING! Very important... developer put most important informations in posts, yet specific issuies are reproted and solved as froum thread goes by
Step 1 is done
Okay, I have Restored the phone to factory using SUS
But check this link out and see if i can flash this CM instead

HELP
I have flashed the kernal to a xperia arc kernal (TO downgrade for rooting)
I start up doomlords rooter thingy
And once i press anykey its on this
daemon not running. Start it now
daemon started successfully
And its just there
Ive used this program to root before and it worked
Btw after installing the neo kernal the phone doesnt restart, only on black scree, ive gotten that before but it had rooted successfully before
Please help me out :/
what are you doing?
if you want cm10, you don't need to root you phone, just simply flashing the rom will give you root
also flashing a kernel not meant for your device will obviosely create problems
instead try flashing this kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076764
and this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780326
Sorry for the inconvinience

*Facepalm*
Rooting done, going to now flash it back
Wish me luck :fingers-crossed:
Thanks alot

If I ever meet you in real life, i would give you a hug
I dont know how to thank you!
It worked, i followed the original instructions which are quoted above ^ and it worked
I used a .img file to flash using flashtool and then flashed using CWM6 which came with the kernal
In the startup process
One thing that is a bummer is the slide out keyboards symbols which are printed on my phone do not match the ones which came with CM9
Meaning, on letter 'M' there is the symbol "%" in blue, so when i press the function button on the keyboard i end up with another Symbol when pressing "M", any way to fix it??
And one more thing
I have CM9, is it recommended to install CM10 nightly or should i wait for a stable release?
And if CM10 was good to install what steps should I use to install it?
Should i just place the .zip in the root of sd, then bootup in CWM and then install zip from sdcard?
Or i use the method you gave above?
Or I just boot in CWM and clear data and install from SD?
Hoping for a reply, and thanks alot!

Glad to hear that. Hope the stable version will be much better? Btw, how is the RAM level as well as system responsiveness? Head that kitkat has a lower hard requirement. It is true in practice? Or still just on paper as just a marketing bs?

Flash procedure
If anyone is interested, you can actually skip the Vroot part by doing the following procedure, this way means you don't end up with any Chinese apps or Chinese root program in your phone, just simple superuser !!!
Once you have chosen the scatter file in flash tool, click on the RECOVERY line, this will open up a window so that you can choose which recovery.
Choose the TWRP recovery you downloaded and then proceed with the flash procedure as normal.
Once finished reboot the phone.
Now power down
Now power on holding volume up and down together, release power button only on vibrate, this will boot recovery
You should see TWRP reovery, go to wipes / advanced wipe wipe cache and dalvik
Now go back to main menu and choose reboot, you should see a prompt that SUPERUSER IS NOT INSTALLED, JUST SLIDE THE BAR TO INSTALL
Now once the phone is rebooted you will see superuser icon on screen, click it and it will tell you to update, easiest is via play store ( make sure you added account ) , it will tell you upgrade success and tell you to update binary, do this too and now you are rooted
MIUI V5 - S650, its possible?
Please apologize for the bad English. I'm having to use the translator. I'm from Brazil, bought the mini vibe x (Lenovo S650). I wonder if you can install MIUI V5 on my phone or do not support, finally, whether I run the risk of brickar my device. If i can install, get out of the version 4.2 to MIUI v5, I do something special or just follow the steps from the first page? MUCH thanks for the help!
