Who installs this Rom, accept it "as is".
Contains just the apps and options installed.
What you want to add will have to be obtained from Google-Play or any other sources.
Please, don't report bugs if you are not using the installed Dhollmen Kernel.
In case of questions or comments, you must indicate additional apps, tweaks or installed "optimizations".
if you insert images, do it in a 'hide' tag. This hide your image until an user click to show it.
I assume you has installed a suitable Recovery and know how to perform the required steps.
Keep in mind that Antutu and others related apps give you very similar values, regardless of the Rom used.
In such apps, OC influence on speed, but its goal is to evaluate the hardware, not the Rom.
Don't use any kind of overclock before three consecutive stability test in Antutu.
> Rom take a long time to boot after installing.
It is quite normal if ART runtime is used as applications are self-compiled at first boot time, after installing a new Rom or changing to ART.
> Applications are slow to start after installing.
It is quite normal if ART is used because apps have self-compiled before first use.
Although it may seem at times, the Rom is not hung, just have to wait.

> Google Apps (Gapps).
All Gapps packages available are virtually identical.
Only differ, from each other, in the amount of installed applications.
Two different packages must be never installed as likely to cause Google applications FC.
The Dhollmen Gapps, being valid for any Rom, are specifically adapted for installation on it.
> Viper4 - Convolver - IRS.
This application controls the System Sound FX.
It also includes a number of advanced pre-equalizer settings (made by others) that are the IRS whose installation files requested.
Access to Convolver (manager of the IRS) is obtained by selecting the option Expert in Experience Settings.
Using another equalizer (provided by external applications) usually interfere with it.
You can only have one active equalizer in the system, but if you want to use another one, kindly Viper4 can be turned off.
> Restoring backups.
It is very common Titanium Backup (or similar) problems in Rom.
If backup /data partition are made and, after a change of Rom, restored, usually side effects will occur.
In this directory and subdirectories it contains, there are many configuration files and internal databases.
When it comes to a specific application should not be a problem as long as it is not part of the Rom.
When sub-directories containing settings are restored, the likelihood of problems increases exponentially.
For example, all Roms have a Settings application, but the content of his configurations differs between them and is not interchangeable.
Under no circumstances you should restore /system partition apps.

Loving this Rom! It's like a super carbon Rom, great work! I like the keyboard, ribbons working for me, everything feels great! The only problem I am having is with IR blaster, doesn't seem to work, but besides from that I am really enjoying this. Thanks!!

As a general rule, there is little text translation faults in the Rom.
Except Carbon Fibers program (Interface) which is only available in English.
I have made the translation into Spanish, but little I can do about other languages.

Tuxafgmur, congratulations on the rom release! I was just looking for a new rom also. The"controversial" release on the previous carbon thread was amazing, I'm sure this rom will be great.

Will this work in the P5113???

Yes, if a rom works for p5110 it does for p5113

Has anyone tried on the P5100 ? How it works ? :good:
I am currently on Pac-Rom 4.2.2 and it works great so I wonder if it is worth crossing to the carbon? Can you lift the processors clock and what is the native speed of processors?
What is the difference in keyboards : Keyboard Tng 20130928 and Keyboard AOSP 20130928 ? Can anyone upload pictures of them so I can know wich one I like more?

Hey All,
Thanks for the hard work with this ROM, I would like to try it however I have a totally nOOb Question
The short of it is I acquired a SGT2 10.1, but not sure if it's rooted, booted into ODIN mode and shows count 2 - current is official Samsung 4.0.3 from memory maybe 4.1?
Do I need to root the SGT2 how to confirm if it's already rooted?
When I look at the steps to root the device, it's seems old and outdated as the files recommended have newer versions so it's not clear.
To use this particular ROM, do I need CWM or philz touch, if Philz touch, there lasted is blocked due to violation trying to grab the tar version, yet the zip was ok, however trying to root the device via ODIN 1.8.5 to select PDA philz, can't see the zip as it's expecting .tar
Just want to make sure before I brick this as I am trying to set it up as I've not touch Flashing in ages
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks Team

Installation guide
To flash this rom you need a custom recovery as CWM or TWRP. You can download TWRP for all Iocean from here.
Otherwise if you prefer CWM, download this CWMrecovery.img for Iocean x7 Youth/Youth Turbo or this one for Iocean x7 Plus/Elite and flash it through MobileUncleTools app.
I strongly recommend you to take a Nandroid Backup before flashing this (or any other) rom. I suggest you to backup your IMEI too. The easiest and safest way to do this is simply writing both IMEI on a piece of paper (you can find them in Settings > About Phone > Status > IMEI information).
To install it, follow these simple steps:
Download zip file of the rom (see Download section) and put it in your sdcard - PUT IT IN EXTERNAL SD IF YOU WANT TO REPARTITION
Reboot into recovery
Wipe data (factory reset if you're using CWM), wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache (advanced section in CWM) - DO NOT WIPE SYSTEM
Install rom zip from sdcard/external sdcard and follow Aroma installer wizard
Aroma installer will give you the possibility to repartition internal sdcard (more available space for apps).
If you choose "Do nothing" option, go to point #6 of this guide
If you choose "Repartition" follow instructions in the spoiler below:
ATTENTION: REPARTITIONING WILL FORMAT INTERNAL SDCARD
Click on "Repartition" and choose desired /data partition size (rom stock value is 1.5GB for any iocean model)
Installation process WILL NOT INSTALL ROM (only resize /data)
Reboot into your ORIGINAL ROM, you should get an error message as the one below (if you don't get this message, just skip this point):
Click on "Reset phone" (this will reboot into recovery) and wait until it automatically reboot into your original rom again
You now need to reboot into recovery to install GammaRom v1.2 (you only repartitioned your original rom so far). You can do this in 3 different ways (choose only one):
Quick way ---> Switch your phone off, connect it to your pc, push power button + volume up button at the same time until you enter recovery
Geek way ---> You can skip Google account login (if asked to login) tapping on upper left corner of the screen then upper right corner, botton right corner and finally botton left corner. Once skipped google signing in, reboot into recovery using "Quick Boot" app (it has been installed into your original rom during repartitioning)
Dummy way ---> Login with your Google account (if asked to login) and reboot into recovery using "Quick Boot" app (it has been installed into your original rom during repartitioning)
Congratulation, you successfully repartitioned your phone. :highfive: You can now follow this guide from point 3 onwards (wipe data, cache, dalvik and install rom zip) this time choosing "Do nothing" instead of "Repartition".
Follow Aroma instructions and reboot once finished
Be patient, first boot may take longer than usual
Read post #2 to get the best from this rom (do not skip this)
Enjoy

Configuration Guide
Configuration Guide
In order to get the best experience from this rom, read guide below:
AVOID CRAP IMPORTANT!!
Absolutely DO NOT install crappy apps on this rom: NO RAM Booster apps, NO task killers, NO Clean Master, no apps that just consume ram, increase wakelocks and produce lags.
Any kind of task killer will heavily increase lags on this rom whose background apps are already handled by its optimizations scripts. This kinda app will only create conflicts.
Remember to not install AdAway (or similar) neither because this rom has an AdBlock already included. If possible avoid Antivirus too, IMO they're not really necessary on Android.
Resolution Changer
What is it?
This is a series of scripts written by me which will let you change iocean x7 resolution from 1080x1920 to any other value lower than stock. At the same time it gives you the possibility to change dpi according to your preferences.
Why should you use this?
Reducing resolution will boost your performances from different point of views: first of all smoother scrolling, faster interface, lower ram usage and probably even a better battery life (I still need to check this one).
Anyways these scripts are not meant to permanently reduce your resolution, but only in case of need: you can switch to lower resolution when you need to increase performances (for example for gaming) and switch back to stock 1080p resolution as performances boost is no longer needed.
Everything is made completely automatic through these scripts, you just need to launch them and follow instructions.
I know that this could be done through an app, but first of all that app is for pay in my country (that's why I created this), secondly an app consumes ram, this script does not!
Is there any drawback?
Yes, lowering resolution will temporarily make your menu, home and back button unavailable. They will stop working until you switch back to 1080p resolution: it's not possible to make them work at lower resolutions, that's why this script automatically enables software keys.
Moreover some apps may not be shown correctly depending on resolution used; here a few examples:
-Xperia Launcher doesn't show icons of correct size at 720p resoution (720x1280)
-Apex Launcher doesn't show icons of correct size at 600p resoution (600x1066)
-Swiftkey keyboard doesn't show properly at lower resolution (use GammaRom stock keyboard)
- [...]
You simply need to change launcher/keyboard if the one you're using is not completely compatible with requested resolution.
How can you change resolution?
I made it simple for you, just read hidden instructions below!
First of all launch Android Terminal Emulator app and enter one of these commands (first time you launch this script, it'll ask for root privilages):
Code:
resolution width height dpi
Sets resolution to (width)x(height) and dpi to (dpi). For example you can type in terminal emulator the following:
Code:
resolution 720 1280 320
entering this will set resolution to 720x1280 and dpi to 320dpi that are typical values for 720p screens (Samsung Galaxy S3, ...)
Code:
resolution 1080 1920 480
entering this will set resolution to 1080x1920 and dpi to 480dpi that are typical values for 1080p screens (Iocean x7 stock values, ...)
With this command (resolution width height dpi) You can set resolution to any value you want. Of course be reasonable: you have a 16:9 screen so (height)/(width) should always be around 16:9. You can start from 1080p stock values (1080 1920 480) and divide these three number by the same quantity. For example, dividing by 1.2, another good working command would be:
Code:
resolution 900 1600 400
which will set resolution to 900x1600 and dpi to 400dpi. Everything clear? Hope it is! You can experiment as many resolution as you wish and find out which one is the best for your usage.
In addition to "resolution width height dpi" command, I prepared other 5 easy to use scripts that you can launch simply typing:
Code:
1080p
it's the same as "resolution 1080 1920 480" (reverts back to stock Iocean values)
Code:
900p
it's the same as "resolution 900 1600 400"
Code:
720p
it's the same as "resolution 720 1280 320"
Code:
600p
it's the same as "resolution 600 1066 260"
Code:
500p
it's the same as "resolution 500 890 220"
These 5 scripts (1080p, 900p, 720p, 600p, 500p) can be used with "f" option (where "f" stands for "fast"). Let's make an example:
Code:
1080p f
typing "1080p f" in terminal emulator resolution will be quickly set to 1080x1920 and dpi to 480dpi without any waste of time. Resolution script has a lot of checks that ensures that you know what you're doing and that explains in details what the script is doing. Typing in android terminal "resolution 1080 1920 480" or "1080p" or "1080p f" will revert back to stock resolution in all three cases, but the last one (1080p f) will do it more quickly.
The same for "900p f", "720p f", "600p f", "500p f": they switch to 900p, 720p, 600p and 500p resolution more quickly than without typing "f".
Here's a screen just to give you an idea on how it looks like:
How can you revert back to stock Iocean resolution?
Simply launch Android Terminal emulator and type:
Code:
1080p
or
Code:
1080p f
In case of issues of any kind that make this procedure unavailable, flash following zip in recovery (only in case of emergency, otherwise use procedure described above):
Emergency_restore_to_stock_resolution.zip
AdBlock
GammaRom has an embedded AdBlocking service which will prevent most part of adverts/malicious websites from showing. Sometimes its action may be unwanted (it may block safe websites that you intentionally want to visit). That's why I created this simple script that gives you the possibility to switch between 3 different adblocking according to your needs.
Launch Android Terminal Emulator and type:
Code:
adblock
Folllow instructions and choose your preferred AdBlocking:
No adblocking (Iocean x7 stock rom default)
AdAway adblocking (Light and fast adblocking - Gamma v1.2 default)
Mother of All AD-BLOCKING by BSDgeek_Jake (slightly higher ram usage, but very aggressive and complete adblocking: blocks almost any Ads - Gamma v1.0 default)
Sometimes AdAway and Mother of All Adblocking may block even safe websites from showing; if this happen to you, launch terminal emulator and disable all adblocking (option 1) and enable them again when you want them back (option 2 or 3).

I included in this rom Die Hard Battery Calibrator script developed by zeppelinrox. Follow instructions below to take the max out of your battery:
Charge your phone till 100%
Keep phone plugged in, launch terminal emulator and type:
Code:
su
BatteryCalibrator
Follow instructions (wait until phone voltages overcomes 4200mV, then type "A" which will reboot your phone after 20minutes (leave it plugged in still) )
Once rebooted, you can type BatteryCalibrator in terminal emulator again and check voltage and battery percentage (just to check, this step is not really fundamental)
Unplug your phone (shown voltage will go down a bit) and use it the whole day until it turns off (battery percentage shown may not be real since you just deleted batterystats)
Recharge till 100%
Use your phone!
Google Location service
Disabling this will improve your battery life a lot; especially if you don't need it (if you need it, try to keep it disabled when not necessary).
Launch Settings > Location Access > Disable "Wi-Fi & mobile network location"
Monitor Wakelocks
I included Wakelock Detector app developed by ahikmat in this rom. This app lets you check which app or service is draining your battery generating wakelocks (high number of wakelocks = high battery drain).
Launch Wakelock Detector app > go into settings > enable advanced mode > Check whether any suspicious/unwanted app is generating wakelocks.
You can find a detailed guide on how to use this app in original thread linked above.
GravityBox
GravityBox is an Xposed module which uses Xposed framework to apply real time modifications to your system. This gives you the possibility to customize your android device according to your needs.
Once you've installed this rom, launch GravityBox app (or go to Settings>GravityBox if you prefer) and mod your Iocean as you wish: most part of modifications will be applied immediately, part of them may require reboot to become effective.
Viper4Android
This mod gives you the possibility to enhance audio quality and volume in a quite surprisingly way if configured properly.
Once installed this rom, launch Viper4Android, give it root access and click on "Yes" at V4A Driver Update request. Choose desired installation type (keep in mind that this will affect battery life) and reboot. Once rebooted you're now ready to customize your phone's audio response according to your tastes: launch Viper4Android and enable Viper4Android features as you wish in the three fields Headset/Phone Speaker/Bluetooth Device.
In order to further edit the audio, it's possible to download (free or paid) some Impulse Response Samples (IRS); see the thread below for a detailed guide and further details about it:
[V4A][IRS] Impulse Response Sample Index Thread
If you're lazy and don't wanna read that guide, just download the following IRS starter pack, unzip it and put all *.irs files in the path /sdcard/ViPER4Android/kernel (this path will be automatically created by V4A app once you install drivers). All these *.irs files will become selectable in Convolver field inside V4A app.
IRS Starter Pack.zip
Xposed Framework
Xposed Framework app has a "Download" section where you can upgrade existing xposed modules (eg: GravityBox) everytime their developer releases a new version or even download new modules from the list to add new features. Be careful though: some of them are incompatible with each other and other are only device specific (Samsung, HTC, ...) and won't work on your phone. Moreover too many xposed modules may slow down system according to my personal experience.
GravityBox already covers most part of other modules features, but another good module is "App Settings" which, for example, will give you the possibility to set different DPI for each app.
GPS
GPS connection had a perceivable improvement with latest kernel and modules and I added some optimizations that will help too. To make it work properly you'll need to modify the first lines of gps.conf in /system/etc path with specific servers for your country.
Inside gps.conf you'll find these servers that work good for Italy:
Code:
# Italy ===============================
NTP_SERVER=it.pool.ntp.org
# Europe ==============================
NTP_SERVER=europe.pool.ntp.org
If you live in Europe, just edit the first with the one for your country, otherwise you'll need to edit both. Leave all the rest of gps.conf file exactly as it is, just edit these lines. You can find a list of servers for any country here.
For example if you live in Slovakia (Europe) first lines of build.prop would become something like this:
Code:
# Slovakia ============================
NTP_SERVER=sk.pool.ntp.org
# Europe ==============================
NTP_SERVER=europe.pool.ntp.org
In order to speed up gps fix, open Settings>Location Access and enable EPO (download epo data too), A-GPS, GPS and launch Location Engineering menu. Once in Location Engineering Mode, go to GPS tab and enable GPS to scan satellites (need to be outside to find any). After a few minutes it should start fixing satellites (first ever fix will take longer) and you should be finally able to use Iocean x7 GPS.
Another advice I can give you is to use Copilot as navigation app!
If it still doesn't work the only way is to modify your antenna (as I did).
Hardware Keys Backlight
This will work only on Iocean x7 Youth clocked @1.2GHz (no effects on any other Iocean x7).
You can turn on/off hardware keys backlight typing:
Code:
lights on
turns lights on
Code:
lights off
turns lights off
Ringtone
You probably still don't understand why I'm pointing this out...well...you'll get it once you receive your first incoming call...I love this ringtone, but probably many of you won't! If you're among them, go into Settings>Audio profiles>General and change ringtone. I recommend you to keep it
That's it guys, flash responsibly! :good:

Yes, you should have both stock camera and lenovo camera, the same for Gallery. If Settings>Viper4Android crashes it means there's no Viper4Android installed. Try to check in app drawer whether you see it or not. I just tried to flash again with TWRP the whole rom on my Iocean Youth and got no issues.
It seems like your installation process had some issues, which recovery have you used? Anyways try to flash back formatting cache, dalvik, data and system, possibly with a different recevoery (I tested it on my TWRP linked in post #1) and let me know :fingers-crossed:
EDIT: I tried to flash with CWM recovery linked in post#1 and had no issues even in that case
EDIT2: I flashed starting from different situations (stock youth 0703, stock elite 0722, custom, ...) with different recoveries, but couldn't reproduce your issues on my youth. As I said, try to flash back and don't forget full wipe.
In antutu I have score 10 000 and you ?
Samba haven't tried you ROM yet but just downloaded this ROM from here http://www.needrom.com/mobile/iocean-x7-youth-2/ , its a really nice ROM and finally got CSR racing and empirior warriors 2 working without lags.
And guess my antutu score ? 12677 !!
Humble request Samba , any chance you can have a look at this ROM and make and improvement on it ?
I have got and Iocean Youth also and so far that's the best ROM I have found in terms of stability , gaming and benchmark .

Did you manage to reinstall the rom without issues?
Anyways 10000 is not normal, do you have any CPU governor installed? It seems like you're not running at maximum clock.
My antutu on GammaRom is 12899 as you can see in the pic:
Antutu is definitely not important, but check that's everything's fine (CPU clock, background apps,...).

Yeah I've that rom on my SD card, I quickly tried it a few weeks ago. Benchmarks aren't very significant, but as you can see above I got an higher score. That doesn't mean much, if I repeat that test in different situations results will change.
I'll focus on GammaRom for the next period because I prefer to concentrate my efforts on only one work rather than releasing many roms almost equal to each other. For the future I'd rather start from a clean stock rom, and I like Iocean's firmware which is really clean and close to Vanilla android. I tried many xperia roms, but don't really liked them so far. Anyways I still couldn't download Xperia C stock rom to give it a try. We'll see!

You can see a few screenshots in post #1. I took xperia launcher and I slightly modded it, but you can change it if you don't like it (I can give you stock launcher if you prefer). For what concerns icons they are Iocean's stock ones except from some of them which I replaced with higher definition ones taken from thl firmware (email, sms,...).

Are those languages included in stock rom? I didn't touch anything language related (just fixed SMS app FC for Netherlands).
If those apps crash it means they're not installed. Flash again the whole rom with full wipe (cache, dalvik, data, system) and check if you have Viper4android and GravityBox installed. If you don't have them it means the rom wasn't installed properly (need to riflash).
Not sure why some of you is not getting /data partition properly installed, I'll investigate further, but I need to know which recovery you are using. I've tested them on both recoveries linked in post #1 with no issues. Which one did you use?

hmm I think it would be great if this rom had aroma installer so we can choose to install other apps etc, even though we can use a root uninstaller. just a suggestion though, this rom already works perfectly. Oh and forgot to mention earlier, I get much better wifi signal with this rom. From my room I used to get 3/5 now I get 4-5/5!

> Rom's Notes.
It is quite normal because ART is used and applications are self-compiled at first boot time, after installing a new Rom.
> Applications are slow to start after installing.
It is quite normal because ART is used and have self-compiled before first use.
Although it may seem at times, the Rom is not hung, just have to wait.

> Google Apps (Gapps).
All Gapps packages available are virtually identical.
Only differ, from each other, in the amount of installed applications.
Never two different packages must be installed as likely to cause Google applications FC.
> Brick Bug.
Don't worry about.
No problems here
> Recovery.
In the wave of failures of equipment, widely discussed and until the problem is completely cleared
The user is strongly advised not to use another recovery than Dhollmen TWRP-2.8.0.5 or Andi TWRP-2.8.0.1
First impressions: very smooth ??
Before I had slimlp. Did a full wipe and factory reset and installed it. No problems at all!
First reboot was much quicker than slimlp.
So far didn't find any problem with it.
Great job already Dhollmen.

I think this works for now!
Confirmed no sound on 5110. Looks like the audio.primary.default.so file in /system/lib/hw was omitted when compiling for 5110. Just for the heck of it, I downloaded the 5100 build and the .so file was present in that rom. So, I just took the audio.primary.default.so from the 5100 build and put it in the 5110 build, sound working fine now.
I archived the file in the 5110 zip, then flashed the rom but you can also push the file with a root file explorer. Just make sure to set proper permissions and then reboot for it to take effect.

[APP][ROOT][4.4+]Custom ROM Manager 5.5.0

Custom ROM Manager finds all the ROMs, GApps and other zip files that are downloaded on your device, lets you install or manage them easily. It also helps you visit official sites of some ROMs/GApps from where you can download them or see changelog.
NOTE: This app does not search the internet for ROMs, GApps and other mods for your device. You have to download them from their respective sites yourself to your device. Then this app will take care of the rest.
Screenshots
Check screenshots tab
Key Features
Finds all the zip files on your device - Custom ROM Manager features multiple file searching algorithms to find the zip files on your device. They are fast, customizable or both fast and customizable at the same time. Users can even choose their file searching technique to their liking.
Sorting and grouping of zip files - After zip files have been found, app sorts and groups them to their appropriate category, like detects which of them are ROMs, GApps etc. It can even detect the properties of a ROM/GApp, like their build dates, version, whether or not they are OFFICIAL builds and what not. The techniques used are efficient and smart.
Popular ROMs/GApps - The app shows list of popular ROMs/GApps. They are selected based on observations of the most popular and most user responded ROM threads across the XDA forums for top devices, and they are listed alphabetically in the app. App is also capable of detecting other ROMs, which will be listed in the "Other ROMs" category.
Official information for popular ROMs/GApps - For all the popular ROMs/GApps listed, you can even check their official information. Like their official sites, download pages etc. It can even check whether your device is officially supported or not, and depending on this, it will open download page for your device when you visit their download page.
Disclaimer - The app makes use of the information that is already available on the internet. It does not use any unauthorized or confidential data. The links are also opened in an external web browser of user's choice, not in some in-app browser or something like that.
Manage your ROMs/GApps - Under each popular ROM/GApp listing, you can see the builds present on your device listed their. Like all your LineageOS ROMs gets listed under "LineageOS" category. You can view them in any way, view them in sorted order based on their build dates or version, or see only unofficial ROMs, or official ROMs. You can delete them, view them etc.
Install them - And finally, you can select them for flashing/installation. This is arguably the most significant feature of the app. You can choose any number of zips for flashing, you can specify which partitions to be wiped before each zip is flashed. You can modify your selection in any way you want, like re-order your selection, delete any entry and what not. And finally, when you confirm, device will boot into (TWRP) recovery, flashing the zips in the very order you selected.
To see the complete feature list, visit the play store page or XDA Labs page.

Great app.
Very useful especially for beginners.
But I have 4 main requests that will improve the app :
1_it's really bothering that every time I want to launch the app it scans for zip files, it takes a lot of time especially for the low-end phones and for phones that have large Memory.
Maybe you should make it saves the path of the zips and names and add a refresh button in the AppBar in case we add new zip.
2_Add wipe davlik-cache,
It's really needed when flashing modes.
3_maybe in the future you should add an options to explore the zip and extract some files.
4_add a new layout for backup and restore specific files from system (build.prop_framework-res....etc) or the whole ROM and save it as a flashable zip in case the flashed ROM has bootloop or some problem you can restore it form recovery.
Sorry for asking a lot I know it's the first release and that is a lot to ask.
So far the app works great and the design is simple and beautiful as usual (I know from your previous apps)
Thanks for your hard work
Great app UI and Idea, but on my Nexus 6 XOSP 6.3, It doesnt detect anything. I give the root access and storage permission, but it stays at "uhh, nothing here". And thats really it. Any idea? Is there some folder i need to put my zips in?(like delta uses). Thanks!

Sorry for late reply, I was busy in the mean time with M and N bringups for some devices.
In Marshmallow ROMs, there is a problem detecting internal storage, which will be fixed in next update, which will come very soon.
Edit: 1.5 is up, check labs
Update 2.5
With previous update (2.0 and 2.1), app was recoded from scratch, resulting in many optimizations and bug fixes.
For example, with 2.0, came better storage detection logic and faster file scanning algorithm, while 2.1 added more modern UI elements.
With 2.5 comes many of the requested features like Zip scan caching, separate option for dalvik cache, and new features like search, respective logos for popular custom ROMs etc.
Please refer to XDA Labs for full changelog.
And do rate and review .
Version 3.0 was released with many cool features.
- Zip selection for flashing was totally revamped. When you tap a card, it will now flip and you will see various partitions you can wipe. Select any if you want to and then tap the card back, it will flip back and notify that the zip has been selected for flashing. And now you can even update what you want to wipe by tapping one of the already selected card back and re-doing the drill. You can even remove it from the flash queue.
- The UI where you are shown what you are going to flash (i.e flash queue) is also revamped.
- Statistics section is also revamped, now shows total size each class of zip is consuming.
- You can also perform TWRP backup and restore operations from the app.
- Some SU related issues (especially on newer security models) were fixed.
- There are always under the hood performance improvements and cleanups.
And all this feature additions barely saw the app size rising. Do check the new screenshots under screenshots tab.
And btw, Custom ROM Manager was released in Play Store too, few days back.

Maybe was i to lazy to find it, but it took already a lot of Time to find the "Custom ROM Manager". How can i add My LIGHT PATCH to the Patch Section of Your Project? I wold like to push Your App by default alongside with My Patch in the Future to use it as kind of OTA Updater. Maybe could You direct Me, or do i even have something new for You? (Checking build.prop for the Patch Version so the App can advise a Update if needed!?)
Would be cool to be Part of that! I'm really looking forward to contribute to it...

[ROM] iPioneer Slim 10c v0.1 for LGV521 - Rooted, busybox, init.d, debloated, etc...

A light, clean & faster rom!!!

***/
iPioneer Slim 10c v0.1 is a light, clean and fast custom rom designed for the Lg G Pad X 8.0 (T-Mobile variant only) and it's aim is to become a replacement for the default system of this device.
iPioneer Slim 10c v0.1 it is light because it only takes 519.8Mb of disk space which is a big difference when you compare the 1.2Gb of a stock rom, it is clean because it only contains the essential apps to make it work properly and it is faster because the whole system have been 100% optimized.
iPioneer it have been designed with the User Freedom in mind, it only provides you with the basic OS so you can do what you need to do on top of that.
Features:
Based on stock (10c)
Rooted
Busyboxed
Init.d Support
Extremely debloated (very serious)
Deodexed
Zipaligned
Nova as default launcher
Installation instructions:
Download the rom to your desire location (link to download to the end of this post).
Boot into Twrp recovery and do a standard wipe (factory reset).
Install the downloaded rom .zip.
Reboot the device.
Be patient, is going to take more time than a regular stock rom to boot into the system, at first is going to be stuck at T-Mobile logo but after few seconds is going to enter into App Optimization mode and after that you will be able to setup your system.
Enjoy it.
First things to do after you install this rom:
Add your google account (if you didn't complete that step at the first setup).
Download your favorite app manager (Rom Toolbox, Titanium, etc.).
Freeze the application called App Updates in order to stop the system update beacon for OTA. I removed 3 core apps in order to stop OTAs but it seems to be very integrated with the system, there is no way I can remove it from the rom without breaking the system. This is the most practical way to my knowledge right now.
Optionals things to do after you install this rom:
You can uninstall Nova Launcher if you want as is not part of the system apps, but before you need to install your favorite launcher. If you don't install another launcher and remove Nova you will have a broken system and most likely you'll have to re-flash the rom.
On purpose bugs and missing options:
On purpose bugs are bugs that comes when you remove a functionality from the system but it can not be removed from a third party component, example: LG VPN app it has been removed but the options remains in the Settings of the device and when you tap that option you will provoke a crash event, the way to resolve this is to decode the third party component (very difficult) or reinstall the missing part (in this case the LG VPN app).
iPioneer Slim 0.1 it comes without some apps that can not be removed from the system setting options, this is like that because I believe that these apps are not necessary for all people, if someone need them they can be downloaded/replaced from the Play Store or I will provide a flashable file with these apps so you can install them.
On Purpose bugs (located at settings):
From the Share & Connect menu:
File Sharing that contains BLE and Android Beam doesn't work, package SmartShare it has been removed.
Media Server (DLNA) doesn't work, package SmartShare that also contains SmartShare.MediaServer it has been removed.
Lg Airdrive doesn't work, package LGAirDrive & LGAirDriveSettings were removed.
From More>VPN menu:
LG VPN doesn't work, package VpnClient_LG it has been removed. Basic VPN it works.
From Display menu:
Home screen doesn't work, packages LGHome, HomeSelector, LGHome_Theme_Optimus, com.lge.launcher3, com.lge.launcher2.theme.optimus were removed.
If you need these options to be available on your system just download these app on Play Store if they are available or just wait until I have ready the System Apps flashable zips.
Missing options (located at settings):
Smart Cleaning not present, package LGSpringCleaning it has been removed.
Cloud (cloud integration in settings) not present, package CloudHub (maybe dependant on SmartShare package) it has been removed, please also note that this cloud integration it was integrated on the stock File Manager, so... if you want a full integration of the Cloud service on settings maybe you will have to install the stock File Manager provided by LGFileManager package.
From Backup & reset menu:
LG Backup is not present, packages LGBackupLauncher and LGBackup were removed.
From About tablet menu:
Update Center and its content (App updates & System updates) is not present, packages com.lge.appbox.client (app updates), com.lge.updatecenter & LGUpdateCenter (main menu for updates) were removed.
If you need these options to be available on your system just download these app on Play Store if they are available or just wait until I have ready the System Apps flashable zips.Flashable zip with system apps:
Coming soon when I have a free time.
What to do if you get the OTA notification:
Freeze the app called App Updates with your favorite app manager.
With your favorite file manager go to /cache and delete the update.zip (the downloaded ota).
Tap on Restart & Install button on OTA pop-up, the pop-up it will start counting to 0 in order to restart but your device won't restart because there are 3 core apps removed from this rom plus 1 app that you just disabled (all these 4 app controls the OTA), the notification is just gonna disappear, push recent button and clear the ota pop-up window.
Bugs Report:
If you find a bug in this rom just notify me about that in this thread, please, just use the title as "Bug Report" so I can pay close attention to that, my time is very limited. Thank you.
Feature Request:
If you want a feature to be added into future revisions of this rom just notify me about that in this thread, please, just use the title as "Feature Request" so I can pay close attention to that, my time is very limited. Thank you.

How fast does it run compared to the stock rom?

How fast it can go is a subjective matter:
It will depend on hardware lifetime span (how you use it and how other people use this tablet).
It will depend how much apps and content you put in it (the more things you download the more slow android is gonna be, this is kind a Swap area).
I did not do a benchmark, when I declared that is faster than a stock rom is because that speed response enhacement it comes based on the Deodex and Zipalign process. It can be or maybe not noticeable to your eyes but based on deodex and zipalign process is for sure that is faster than an odex and not-zipaligned rom.
The best answer is that you need to try it on your own and see the difference.

Poll added at the beginning (not visible in tapatalk or xda app).
Please only select the apps that you really need or you really think that should comes with the next revision of iPioneer Slim rom.
This will help me to build a better version with features that users needs.
C'mon guys... only 3 users have use the poll...
I need more data background in order to release a new version of the Slim line version (may be the last one).
All V521 users please contribute with this.
Right now I'm testing a new build that it seems to have success stoping ota download and notification & I have removed even more bloat background packages.
As of today I start the syncing process of CyanogenMod for our device, so all I ask is that V521 users vote in the poll so I can build and release what I think it would be the last Slim version (iPioneer Slim 0.2) based on users needs.
Once I start the developtment with CM I will not pay attentions to the Stock & Slim version until I finish with what is gonna become iPioneer CM 13.
Thank you for your attention guys.
BTW: sorry for my english, I try so hard to write all this in a good way. Arriba Mexico Papa!!!

The reason is that the xda app can't see the vote going on.
Personally, I will be excited to see a cm/aosp custom build, which will sure draw much more attention.

Another reason is not many users are interested enough in a slimmed stock rom. The benefits of a slimmed stock rom may include less system storage usage. But the free uped system storage is not accessible for users to use as data storage anyway. Speedwise, I wouldn't expect noticeable improvement from a slimmed stock rom. As a result, the benefits of a slimmed stock rom is not enough to draw users' attention or interest.
I am a flashholic but I actually not interested in slimmed stock at all because I already have root.
I personally advise you to not spend too much time on modified stock rom.
I appreciate your work and look forward to your future possible cm rom, which I will definitely try it out and will draw many g pad x users here. And don't forget there is a bounty for custom roms like cm.

You are right about working in a stock version. The reason why I'm doing this is because we all know that CM most of the time has bugs, bluetooh problems, camera issues, data conectivity troubles, etc...
Sooooo, if the version of CM I'm going to compile it results with many bugs there is gonna be the option to go back to stock slimed or stock bloated.
I can build a CM verion but Im not the kind of guy who inverts his time in CODE MODIFICATION, so hopefully the build it comes with no bugs at all or at least no major bugs.
The other alternative is that I can sync, compile and build and one more guys can do the bug fixes.

That would be great! I think if you took a poll most people would prefer a CM build to a slimmed down stock build.

Yeah, I know that. Wish me luck.
Right now I'm stuck trying to get the Blobs for this device and compiling the kernel so I can build the CM recovery, once I have the recovery done I can start compiling CM and start testing.
I'm trying to by pass the kernel (as is not need it right now to build the recovery) but for some reason the system is demanding an standard and working kernel... weird...
But honestly speaking is gonna take lot of time. So be patient guys.

Ik, is just a prebuilt because our device doesnt have a device tree or structure already, so making this at first is gonna help me to buil the cm zip.
Is not need it if a device tree already exist but not in this case, just see it like a pretesting of code for this device.
When I try to compile this recovery things are gonna break so you get info of what is missing, what you need, log, etc... So you fix everything you can in this step and then you build the cm.zip in a better way (less issues).

These are your device tree for twrp 4 b3 right?
Let me see if I can work with that, I was almost done building the cm.recovery and fixing some boot.img issues but if I can take your files that would save time.
Did you forked that device tree or u just build it from scratch?
If you forked them, from what device?
I was thinking on pulling the v500 just to figure out some sort of missing info I havent been able to catch from ramdisk.

i built it from scratch, id be careful looking too much at the v500, it's a snapdragon 600 SOC which is very old and is a quad core. the 615 in the g pad x is octacore and much newer. even the ramdisk is going to have big differences in how its handled.

[ROM][7.1.2_r36][grouper][OC 1700MHz/F2FS]Resurrection Remix 5.8.5 for Nexus 7 2012

*** Disclamer
By downloading and installing this ROM you agree that you do so at your own risk, and that you understand that it probably voids your warranty. Installing this ROM may distroy your device, you may loose your data, your money, your friends, ...
If you are not sure what you are doing - leave it!
Introduction
I like Resurrection Remix but i could not find find it here, so i tried to make it on my own.
Here is the result - on my Nexus 7 it works, but i dont use it very much.
If you want to overclock your device (up to 1700MHz) you can change you kernel settings - use "Kernel Adiutor"
About me
I am not a developer! I just build it or fun and because i want to use it. Don't expect much support from me - my time is limited.
Installation instructions
Be sure you are on the latest TWRP https://dl.twrp.me/grouper/ or on the last CWM (Google for it)
Back up your data
Download ROM from link below
If you want to use Google Apps (openGAPPS):
Download GAPPS from http://opengapps.org/ Platform=ARM, Android=7.1, Variant=pico
Download gapps-config.txt (attached). Without removing something - configured in gapps-config.txt - you do not have space to install GAPPS in system partition
Put all files in the same directory
Wipe system, cache, dalvik, data (only for the first install)
If you like you can change the filesystem of the partitions "cache" and "data" to F2FS. Do not change "system" partition !!!
Install the ROM and optinal GAPPS.
Reboot into system - first boot may take 5 ... 10 Minutes!
Enjoy
Video by @Majid2000 uses CWM-Recovery.
If you want to root your device:
You have to add a root manager to root your device - there is no root by default.
Option 1: Look for Magisk on XDA and install it
Option 2: Install SuperSU or any Superuser
Only versions from July 2017 onwards come without "root".
If you want to add Googleapps:
With default settings it will give an error about insufficient space. To avoid that, take the smallest Gapps package you can get. I recommend opengapps.org (select Platform:ARM Android:7.1 Variant: pico).
The easy way:
Attached you will find my "gapps-config.txt" file. Feel free to change it to your needs. The name must be "gapps-config-grouper.txt" or "gapps-config.txt"
Copy this file to the same directory as you have your opengapps.zip file. The opengapps updater-script will look for it there when you install opengapps.
Pay attention: This script will remove some system apps from your device. If you still need them do this steps before installing gapps:
1) root your device or use twrp to execute following steps
2) copy all needed apps from /system/app or /system/priv-apps to any non /system directory (/data or external storage may be a good idea)
3) install gapps
4) install saved apps (you may need to change your settings to allow install of apps from an unsafe place)
You have to repeat it on every clean install or if you want to updete your apps with a fresh version.
Backgroundknowledge:
You have to deinstall some packages:
The easiest way is to follow these instructions:
https://github.com/opengapps/opengapps/wiki/Advanced-Features-and-Options
My file gapps-config.txt contains this:
Code:
DialerFramework
PackageInstallerGoogle
CMAccount
CMUpdater
CMSetupWizard
CMAudioFX
CMFileManager
CMMusic
CMScreenCast
CMWallpapers
CMWeatherProvider

(ExactCalculator)

Reboot.
WAIT for system to settle before you decide it is slow. Some of the app optimization which used to happen during initial boot now seems to happen in the background. When it's finished, responsiveness will improve.
Kernel settings
The kernelspeed is set to 1300Mhz by default. If you want more you have to change it. Use "Kernel Adiutor" or any tool of your choice.
Accordding to the architecture of the CPU the maximum speed is 1500Mhz if running in multikernel mode. If running in singlekernel mode it can go up to 1700Mhz. If you want maximum speed use 1700Mhz even this speed is mark as unused in monitoring tools. You are allways in multikernel mode if your display is on - use with care!
ZRAM is enabled by default.
CPU-Voltage is editable so u can undervolt if you like - use with care!

Edit: just installed. Smooth and with the 5th Jan security issue. Thanks!
Edit: after two days use, there are a couple of minor issues I've found. Just to say:
- The screen brightness seems to blink sometimes. Besides, if you adjust the screen brightness through the status bar swiping, the behavior is not perfect. Sometimes the screen get turned off Edit 2: I'm retarded and I had the auto brightness feature turned on
- Force close apps are sadly common when trying to start an app. However, restarting that app normally works. If the FC persists, switch the orientation of the tablet.
@wilmsn, did you have to do anything special to build the ROM? I'm building it by myself and I succeeded with your recipe, but it seems that
- My build is a bit slower than yours in terms of runtime performance. It's only an impression
- mp4 files won't play. VLC does not work at all, and internal video player only will play the audio tracks on these video files
Thanks!!
Edit: never mind, it seems that I configured something (I don't know what) in the improper way. Reinstalled my self-built ROM and mp4 files are being played properly .
@pacorrop
I use:
Code:
Pkg.Desc = Android NDK
Pkg.Revision = 13.1.3345770
and set this in my .bashrc:
Code:
CROSS_COMPILE=/home/norbert/ndk/toolchains/arm-linux-androideabi-4.9/prebuilt/linux-x86_64/bin/arm-linux-androideabi-
Hope it helps!
Might I make a suggestion?
You may want to see if you can integrate DC-Kernel into this rom. I use this kernel all the time on my grouper and love Ressurection Remix. But the two don't play nice together currently. I would love to have the option to Oveclock and all that with this Rom.
If not, no worries. Rom is running rather well as it sits, would just like to have the added boost if needed.
Thanks for reading. Keep up the good work.

Thank you. I'm working on syncing sources myself because I was going to try to get it working. But I'm extremely New to kernel development

DC Kernel added
I just added DC-Kernel to OP. You can overclock the device up to 1700MHz.
Use with care and on you own risk.
@The~Skater~187 hope you can use it - i did only a quick test.

How did you go about flashing? I keep getting stuck at boot animation. Been there for about ten minutes now?

Thank you very much!
It's weird because, as far as I know, I don't have the NDK installed how am I able to compile? Geez

Got it working, thank you. Only thing I've noticed over the last day or two is that any kernel tweaks such as over clock or changing of governors don't seem to stick. Tried with many different apps and as soon as you close the app, it all goes back to default.

The only thing i use is overclocking. On my N7 OC works fine up to 1500MHz. If i go to 1600 or 1700 it is taken from the system but if i look at the statistics it runs only at 1500. I can change the governor and when i look it up it is still set to the right value.
The rest is DC kernel with no changes.
You are sure you gave root access to the tools you use?
BTW: I use kernel adiutor to change settings.

I tried kernel auditor myself, don't seem to stick. I'll give it a try again. I've recently been trying to use the performance control app DanielHK recommends for dc kernel. I did check to make sure all kernel as I've tried had root permission.

Fantastic and I cannot say that enough!! I do have a remedial question as I have been out of the AOSP Roms for some time. I cannot get the Gapps to work. I used the pico and followed the steps. I am still have the same error and when. It boots back up they are not there. Can you help please?

Did you do a full wipe (system and data) bevor installing?

Yes sir. I followed everything as closely as possible. I'm not sure where I made my error. Is there an easier how-to for the Gapps maybe there's something I'm missing? Again I'm coming back to AOSP after many years and definitely different.
