AOSP SOUND PACK MOD - WITH CHOIR KILLER
Hoyo folks!
Today I bring you a mod that I felt was badly needed. A fix for LG's terrible taste in notification sounds.
Specifically, this combats the annoyance we have all felt when first opening your phone, only to hear your first text message cause your phone to erupt into a chorus of little boys telling you life is good.
... That's freaking dumb, sooooo. Here's a mod that adds all AOSP notification, ringtone, and alarm sounds, and (if you choose) removes all of the Vienna Boy's Choir stuff. I made two versions. One is just adding AOSP sounds, the other adds them and also removes the Choir clips from ringtones, alarms, and notifications.
Note, that this doesn't change the default sound assigned to the phone, so if you haven't already switched it to something else you may have no tone whatsoever until you reset it to something else.
This should work for all variants. But I have only tested this on Verizon. Note that the ONLY sounds the choir removal zip removes are the Vienna Boys Choir sounds, so if you find any of the others so annoying that you want them off your phone you will need to remove them from /system/media/audio/ yourself.
Anywho, here's the zips.
AOSP Sound Pack for LG-G2 - Choir Killer Edition (Installs AOSP sounds, and also removes the Vienna Boy's Choir sounds)
AOSP Sound Pack for LG-G2 - Kid Friendly Edition (Installs AOSP sounds, but doesnt remove any that are already on the phone)
Simply flash these with TWRP and enjoy!
Let me know how these work for you please!
-WACOMalt

This is perfect. I'm done getting creeped out by singing kids in the middle of the night. Thanks for all your work WACOMalt!

Thank you!
Those sounds scared the crap out of me the day after I got the phone. Set the alarm without changing the sound and wake up to some kids shouting "Good Morning, Good Morning".

Are these named backwards? Or am I reading them wrong?
Thanks Devs. From my Verizon LG G2.

Yeah, its the definitions that are reversed

Whoops, that they were. The Deffinitions were reversed, but the names were right. I fixed OP now.

Excellent! Worked just like advertised. Thank you.
Thanks Devs. From my Verizon LG G2.

On my ATT G2 the only place it removed the choir was the alarms but left the trumpet one. I used the choir killer package.

Goooooooood morning!

HAHA, this really freaked me out. My wife was wtf was that.

The best mod so far, what were lg thinking!

I don't mind them at all, I still have it as my notification sound

I couldn't get it to work because apparently I was rooted but didn't have twrp recovery. So I tried installing twrp manager from playstore which ended up factory resetting my phone

Droid X Messaging App

Can we get this ported to the EVO?
Just the .apk would work, right? the DX's sms app looks so much better than any i've seen on any other phone. I'd love to have it.
give me some love, guys
+1 on this, but if im not mistaken this should go in the apps section
PM a Mod and ask them to move this to theming it'll get more attention there
+1 I can't stand the Sense mms app. Actually, I thought IncredibleDoes was developing a Droid X rom for the EVO and Incredible...
well it's been moved and other people are in agreeance, but it seems XDA isn't ever too keen to help someone out
I would like to see this as well since Handcent does not work well anymore on the EVO, its very very slow n it lags.

First of all, XDA doesn't do anything. That is simply the forum. It's the developers, many of them with jobs, kids and other responsibilities, that give up their time to help you. So at ease.
Secondly, if you had taken the time to do some googling, instead of posting a new whine every couple hours, you MIGHT have found: http://www.droid-life.com/2010/04/15/download-new-mms-apk-with-custom-settings/
EDIT1: Also, with a little more digging, i found the original APK from the droid x. http://rapidshare.com/files/431493880/Mms.zip
Anyone using this also getting fc when trying to change the font size ?
I was looking for this this morning. Well either this or the Vibrant/Galaxy S one. They're both similar. The Sense mms.apk is actually really good, it's just super slow.
For now I'm using Handcent with squared off chat bubbles and the Hero theme:

Are u experiencing any lag with handcent?? Like when the message is received it takes like 5-10 seconds longer till the phone notifys me even tho im viewing the message thro the quick reply screen.
Everything seems normal. But there are some things you have to change. In send settings, you have to tell it to split messages or ones longer than one text wont go through. Set it to "split by word" for the best results.
Also, disable the lockscreen popup if you have the stock sense loclscreen since it wont work and will wakelock your phone. And lastly, disable the lockscreen from turning on your screen so it doesn't turn on in your pocket.

I think i may have figured out part of the problem but not the whole problem. I had Blur background checked off which slows down pop up performance, so that might fix some of it hopefully.

i don't want that though. those are like **** apps, i'd rather just have one coded by motorola or whoever
How are they **** apps? They offer a lot more. No stock messaging apply will give you a quick-reply popup or let you send a quick text by holding the search button.

[Sneak Peek] Who wants some Rotary goodness? Returning soon to a Sense ROM near you.

After more bootloops than I care to share, I couldn't believe it when this one (see below) loaded up, and it didn't bootloop, a few minutes ago!
FWIW, I am running Fresh ROM (HTC Sense).
EDIT: For those just joining the conversation, this project has become much bigger than just rotary lock below. See Here for more information regarding additional features coming with this pending release.

Hmm, I was just wondering, any way you could make one similar, but with the look of Myn's HTC sense lockscreen? The black with white text and green HTC EVO on the sides, etc... somehow just so it matches Myn's RLS 5 theme... any way to make one similar to that? I'd try my hand at it, but have no photoshop skills whatsoevar LOL

Once I release, themers can do with it whatever the heck they want. That's up to them. I focus on the code .
Lol, I've literally had this up and running on my phone for 30 minutes, after days of work, and I'm already getting requests for mods

Thanks. Still tinkering with some things.
This ended up being a "hybrid" of my original port from the Hero back in the day, with roots from the original motorola droid stock ROM, merged with elements from the CM ROM release.
Still working on a few things. Sucks though, as it has required edits to multiple framework files once again...
absolutely outstanding
Check out the second pic I just added to the OP. Notice I mentioned "hybrid" above? I was able to pull in the music controls from CM for the bottom of the lockscreen as well.
You are brilliant, JS.
We all appreciate your works, and I do believe that nearly all of us use them even if we don't know it.
Thanks for making this a better phone, again.

Ha, I think you're right.
The dilemma is, when releasing, is the "base" starting from the Power Control Widgets framework, stock, both? With music controls, without. Option to go back and forth between slider and rotary, etc.
Yikes.
Looks great I will be keeping an eye on this really like your work.

This has been on my todo list ever since getting the EVO back in October. The darn Power Control Widgets have been taking 100% of my "free" time.
I wanted to step away from that for a bit and work on something else.
It's more fun to get something new going, than it is to keep working on tweaks for the same thing (that gets boring).
Will this cause the alarm clock issue?
I would love to have this it looks awesome.

Same here. It's not Cyan, but not BLUE either.
Will this work through installing on the T-Mobile Theme Chooser or is it SalvageMod Rom specific? I'm currently running Deck's 1.0 but this looks like an enticing option.
Either way, nice job.

Just SalvageMod right now.
I'll be updating this with way more support for everything, only if people enjoy or want to use it though.
but so far I haven't got any PM's or Tweets to try it :/
EDIT: it's just a flashable .zip so I haven't done the .apk version yet.
No one likes it I guess, damn.
No one is going to say **** or even try it out, really?
I'll give this a couple more days until I go back to MIUI.
Not meaning to sound rude at all, I'm sorry.
Or is no one ****ing with it because it's only for Salvage-Mod?
Either way pretty much everything is themed.
Please do not post a comment about my opinion, but it seems like you have to be well known to be a part of this community.? Seems like new users are treated like **** here.
Too many high horses riding around (just thoughts guys) No offense to XDA or anyone here.
EDIT: I'd be more than happy to expand this theme to all other GB roms but if I can't even get one tester, kinda hard.

I thought about giving it a try, I liked your MUI work while I was running MIUI. Reason didn't try it is because I can't find any good explanation of Salvage mod. Why I should flash Salvage Mod over over any of the other AOSP roms, or the best daily driver I have found in VaelPak.
Keep up the good work, don't let the community get to you.
My gf has salvage mod on her evolution and I think this theme is good ****s... I'm about to give it a shot... thanks...

Original Post:
Hello all. I feel as if I should give back to the community that got me interested in Android. I was a newspaper photographer of 7+ years, but then Android came along and I was hooked. I left my photography career and went back to school to learn Java and get a degree in mobile application development. This is one of my first real attempts at an app. It's nothing fancy, but it's for us old school gamers. This app is a widget that just keeps track of the battery % in the form of 8-bit looking hearts that deplete as the battery discharges. If the hearts are tapped, a menu of shortcuts will open. There's also an animation while the phone charges. The text and borders of the hearts can now be changed. Oh and an Easter egg. Let me know if you find it. But don't spoil it for others.
If you like it, please buy it from the Play Store for 99 cents. But don't feel obligated at all! This is my gift to XDA! All I'm asking is to recommend it to non-XDA members(friends/family) to buy in the Play Store so I can try to make a career out of programming. I took a huge chance leaving an established career to do this and I hope it pays off.
Here's the Google Play link:

I've thought about it. I'm finishing up my last semester of college so free time is almost zero. But if I do, I'll be sure to post it here. However, I do have a icon pack on the market with a few Zelda ones as well as other 8-bit favorites. It works with ADW and Circle Launcher. If you haven't tried Circle Launcher, I recommend you do. It's a great little app.
This is awesome.
Retro, I like it thanks!
LOL i was thinking about making my Author name ''Use The Triforce, Link.'' nice job man. bought the 8 bit icons too
EDIT: i REALLY like the 8 bit icons. im not sure how much work it is, but may i suggest getting them to work with the other launchers? go launcher seems to be the most popular, and a lot of icon packs are made to work with both. good luck with school!
Love it! But would it be possible to get a version with the percentage text in white as opposed to black? :-D

S3 RetroWiz - Galaxy S1 themed(resized) Boot+Shutdown Anims & Froyo/Ging UI Sounds

S3 RetroWiz - Galaxy S1 themed(resized) Boot+Shutdown Anims & Froyo/Ging UI Sounds
Suits Verizon Galaxy S III OR Any Variants (I9300 or I9305) Running stock or modified Samsung TouchWiz firmware
Extra Info
✓ I *may* do a version for AOSP firmware if requested (I am certain that AOSP dosn't have a typical shutdown animation?)
✓ I *may* do AROMA installer that can allow users to choose if they want to install just the animations; The animations with no bootsound (seems like a common mod people do these days); Froyo-Ginger Sounds that completely replace the current firmware sounds; Froyo-Ginger sounds that install on top of the existing firmware sounds (this is the current default); Installation of the sounds only without the animation (why on Earth you would do this is beyond me as the animation is the coolest part)
✓ Includes Galaxy S1 UI sounds - Yes finally get rid of those annoy water droplet sounds and bring back those familiar (and awesome) first generation Samsung Galaxy UI sounds we've grown to love!! Once you hear it it will bring back fond memories I can assure you! All ogg files have been optimised to reduce space (only some UI sounds have actually been replaced - these will overwrite the existing ones and for good reason too! They SUCK that's why)
Think I am stupid for replacing sounds? Think about the low battery blorp sound that startles you when you are almost asleep - Yes the froyo one was elegant and petite. Ever sat on a train or bus busting to go to the toilet and all you can hear is water droplets from the annoying person beside you with a later model Samsung phone with touch tones switched on? Well if you haven't, LUKCY YOU!
I HATE THE WATER DROPLET SOUND, BRING BACK THE DINK DINK SOUND I SAY:good:

CHANGELOG
Release 1.0
✓ Installation does not call explicate mounting points so can be used on either I9300 OR I9305 (and any Galaxy S3 variants)
✓ Should be compatible with any firmware ICS, JB or KK
✓ Includes Galaxy S1 Boot Animation .qmg with Galaxy S logo replaced with Galaxy SIII logo.
✓ Shut down animation is completely custom but uses similar resources to the Galaxy S1 boot - Galaxy SIII logo essentially shows static briefly before zooming into the S and then fading the background then reverse disintegrates the Galaxy S boot emblem then fades to black. Shutdown animation is via shutdown.qmg file.RetroWiz - By Jarmezrocks
So far its only myself; use at your own free will no need to wait for my permission to reuse my work however it is polite to notify me - this is like saying thanks. If you use it anyway here or outside XDA I won't hunt you down or anything lol - No need to give credit, I am not all about credit and/or recognition I AM all about sharing though and that is all that matters to me.
Hey thanks for this!
I'm on 4.4.2 with locked bootloader running PaulPizz rom. With some mods from wickedX rom and PCB blue theme thread.
But I was so damn sick of that blaring red vzw boot screen that I'd flip my phone over till it was done lol.
And this is a very well done alternative, nice and dark.
Thank you again for sharing with us.
