Anyone want to help me test a new version of Heart Container?
I have completely revamped the images and how they are displayed.
Also, for you Jelly Bean 4.2 users, You can add Heart Container to your lock screen!! I am so excited about this feature. I have been waiting for it since I made Heart Container. It looks so awesome on my lock screen.
Post any problems you find here. Thanks!
-Ken
Original Post:
Hello all. I feel as if I should give back to the community that got me interested in Android. I was a newspaper photographer of 7+ years, but then Android came along and I was hooked. I left my photography career and went back to school to learn Java and get a degree in mobile application development. This is one of my first real attempts at an app. It's nothing fancy, but it's for us old school gamers. This app is a widget that just keeps track of the battery % in the form of 8-bit looking hearts that deplete as the battery discharges. If the hearts are tapped, a menu of shortcuts will open. There's also an animation while the phone charges. The text and borders of the hearts can now be changed. Oh and an Easter egg. Let me know if you find it. But don't spoil it for others.
If you like it, please buy it from the Play Store for 99 cents. But don't feel obligated at all! This is my gift to XDA! All I'm asking is to recommend it to non-XDA members(friends/family) to buy in the Play Store so I can try to make a career out of programming. I took a huge chance leaving an established career to do this and I hope it pays off.
Here's the Google Play link:

Version 2.04:
Choice of either 3 or 6 Hearts!
New Lifebar-Style Battery Meter!
Much needed UI update!
Bug Fixes!
Version 1.54
Added White Text
Add New Heart Style
Reduced File Size
Bug Fix
Heart Container will always be free to members of XDA.
I hope you all enjoy!

I've thought about it. I'm finishing up my last semester of college so free time is almost zero. But if I do, I'll be sure to post it here. However, I do have a icon pack on the market with a few Zelda ones as well as other 8-bit favorites. It works with ADW and Circle Launcher. If you haven't tried Circle Launcher, I recommend you do. It's a great little app.
This is awesome.
Retro, I like it thanks!
LOL i was thinking about making my Author name ''Use The Triforce, Link.'' nice job man. bought the 8 bit icons too
EDIT: i REALLY like the 8 bit icons. im not sure how much work it is, but may i suggest getting them to work with the other launchers? go launcher seems to be the most popular, and a lot of icon packs are made to work with both. good luck with school!
Love it! But would it be possible to get a version with the percentage text in white as opposed to black? :-D
PS. Found the Easter egg
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
thanks for the app! the hearts bring out the nostalgia of yester-year gaming.
if the easter egg contains a kitten, thanks for the grin as well.
Hehe..i like.
LOL... like.
I pay for this if you will add data on/off in menu.
Good app.
I would love if you gave the option to turn off the number percentage so it's just the hearts!

Really like it. The easter-egg is quite easy to find but still funny.
I absolutely love it. Doesn't work with how my phones setup but really cool. Avoid using any copyrighted named though lol.

This is my pack of android icons I have been working on for a week or so,I offer this for free and the version contains 105 icons and will grow a lot over time. I will also have a market version in a few days that will be a donate version with about 30 more that will be updated a lot more than this free version also I will take request for app icons you may want.
HOW TO USE: Unzip and put the folder on root of S.D and use bettercut to apply.
Now that's an infestation...call the exterminators! I'll wait for the donate version. Great work. Been watching their development on Buzz.
dude these are some sweet icons!
Oh awesome!
Thanks so much manup! * hugs *
* goes and downloads it *
Awesome icons! Great job!!
Any way to make this a metamorph to change all stock icons?
Omg I love these icons! <3 They all look so cute ~ I'm definitely going to buy the market version.
Btw, could I request an icon for tapatalk & farm frenzy ( or anything that looks farm-ish ) if possible ^^? Thank you very much! <3

Never mind.
I would like to see icons for Gdocs, Gmote, Google Shopper, Quickboot and gesture search.
Thanks
love this... my requests would be metamorph,n1torch,advanced task manager,my coupons,cm updater, direct tv,my backup pro,quickboot,sufbs..thanks a ton looking forward to the donate version...
Any icons people want to see just post and ill be sure to add to the next pack. Glad everyone is liking the pack so far and a lot more to come. =)
Icons for the following would rock my socks!:
Advanced Task Killer
Astro File Manager
Cache Mate
CM Updater
Myspace
MetaMorph
"Flixter" Movies
N1 Torch
SetCPU
Tweetcaster (Although the guy with the bird is adorable)
Voice Search
Yellowbook
And Wobble (lol an Android with boobs would be funny)
I am taking request and any icons at [email protected] so hit me up. =) @graveghoul your a big follower of mine so ill deff be sure to get those done for you.
This only changes the shortcuts right? Is there an easy way to change the app drawer icons as well? Also, these icons are smaller then the stock icons for some reason so everyhthing looks tiny.
These icons are fantastic, thanks so much.
I have a problem though. I have installed better cut and have tried to change a couple of my icons. Whenever I have changed one (either pick or crop), in the preview it looks fine but when I go to the home page the new icon is missing part of the right hand side of the image. The Androids all seem to be missing the arm on the right (as you look at them). Any ideas?
Many Thanks

Try using HelixLauncher2
Crazy,they look awesome.
Amazing work my friends as always, looking sweet!
I dont know if this thread is going to get ripped to shreds, or if anyone really cares. Also im sorry ive been delaying my "Sophie Theme" but to me this topic made the delay well worth it.
Now to the point, a while ago me and manup were trying to achieve making a theme with a palm pre like screen border. After two days of trying no avail. That was about two months ago. No i have been able to achieve this effect by editing the Titlebar shadow and the helix launcher dock. Im posting a screenshot but i will be posting a picture of the phone so you can actually see the real feel of this because the screenshot to me really isnt doing this effect any justice. So here is the screenshot.
With this thread id also like to know if this is something our theme users would like to see in furture themes.

This is a pic taken with a cliq xt i dont have a camera so i cant get a better picture of this effect.
And yes i know my screen is cracked it sucks, it works though. My deductible is 130 and cant afford atm.
Omg I didn't think it could be done! I completely understand why the screenshot doesn't do it justice, simply add a border in an image editing program and the effect will look more complete without having to be displayed on the device itself.
I recommend a thick border to about the width of the black whatever part of the screen around the Nexus. It will give people a general idea of the theme.
Edit: disregard this I guess?
Im so glad you understood that lol. The only issue is i can only achieve this effect with the helix launcher2 dock.bg and editing the titlebar shadow so the sides i cant do but really doesnt matter.

I wasn't referring to adding the border on the actual Nexus, just the screenshot you posted to demo the effect.
Ok my buddy just pointed out that this effect was achieved in the g1 theme called darkstar. lol here i was so excited.
Like the look of your stuff regardless. Will definitely give them a run as they get released on latest CM mods.
Nice to see some additional theme options coming.

Yea.. it was on that theme.. I remember having it and loving it on my G1.
The effect wasn't just on the launcher though, it was universal (all through out) most if not the entire theme. Regardless, you did a good job, it still looks nice.. don't know why no one is commenting.
This is kinda off topic but I was just curious. What app is that with the Golf flag on the green (second from the top). Thanks for the reply.
Not a fan of the battery but overall it looks great
nice! i would use/donate for this theme.
but please make a morph with blank battery so i can turn on percentage.
I like this theme, when can we test it??
looks really nice. i used to not like the icons but now they look cool. ill have to give this one a run. i was a big fan of the webOS theme for the G1 before palm said no more. i would like to see it come back to life without being shut down by palm...or ah HP.
I just hope the OP doesn't skip over my question on page one.

So for some time I've been working on a theme for Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo. By some time I mean "since the middle of January". I'm a bit late to the show, but I've finally managed to cram enough time into it to get things where I'm fairly happy with them.
The whole theme is inspired by the idea of turning the buttons in the drop-down notifier panel into toggle switches. From there I went with a whole late-70s retro hi-fi and electronics theme.
Features:
Tumbler-style battery meter, complete with rolling animations for every percentile!
Old Sony-style LCD screens for information panels
Clear-plastic back-lit buttons
Toggles!!!!
Copious amounts of faux-leather plastic surfaces!
Here's a few screenshots:

Download it here!!!
ADDITIONALLY:
HERE is the link to ALL of my graphics files, xml files, etc. It's over 50MB of stuff that any developer is welcome to use for building themes, etc. Please be my guest!
Included are all the various graphic files used in this theme, .xml files for the rolling tumbler battery meter, a bucket-load of .xcf files for GiMP which contain the various layers and options for most of the graphics I've built, and the raw graphics I used to assemble what I've built.
FINALLY:
If any Dev looks through this stuff and figures out how to alter the CHARGING code for the rolling tumbler battery to make the throbber AFTER the tumble-animation work, please let me know as I'd really like to incorporate it in an update.
At this point I'm going to try to put together a theme with all this for Synergy, but it may take some time - so I definitely encourage anyone who is interested to take what you like and have a go at it.
Enjoy!
Wow man this is fantastic work and totally original!

Thanks! If there's demand for it, I could also push out variants with the classic green LCD display, and the more modern indiglo look. I realize not everyone is a fan of orange, I was just trying to really go proper retro.

We all know how much we love the Xperia Play Games Launcher but they are a few things we hate such as;
Not all Games Display
We do not have it on CM7+
Until now!
The ICX Team is currently developing an application which is a custom made version of the Xperia Play launcher written from scratch which allows users to add/remove games and applications from the launcher.
It is also CM7 and CM9 compatible and will be included in all ICX ROM's.
The launcher is almost finished ready for release. The launcher will be available for all devices but will not run as correctly as it should as it was specifically designed for the Play screen resolution.
Here is a screenshot for a slight teaser for you

Yes but if you are using an SE ROM you have to disable the auto launch for the default Play Launcher
As i said in another thread this will be cool i like the concept every game in one place would like it maybe to have customizable backgrounds too does anyone agree?.
p.s. @deanboro will you 1 be able to controll every selection (back, next, settings, enter etc) with the pad and is there any thoughts on an home screen widget like ps port?
loving this looking forward to this and icx roms

I do! I hate the ICS look. Needs more Playstation look
Great work
It would be handy if games were auto-added to the launcher if they had the Xperia Play optimised tag in their meta data, and if you could add shortcuts to emulator ROMs like you can on homescreens
Is it possible to make this launcher open when the gamepad slides open? Im guessing it would require root to do that.
Still this is an awesome concept, Ive been waiting for something like this for a long time.
great idea but...
i love the idea ,but will this be offered as a stand alone launcher as well or only included in icx rom ?

Yes you will be able to control every section with the DPAD.
I am also working on having the TouchPad control it by just a simple swipe to go to next page however as no ICS ports have working TouchPads yet this is seemingly difficult so on Tuesday when I get free time I will be going to CM7 to test the application with TouchPad support
Looking forward for this, good work man...

nice idea. looking for it.
Looking at the screenshot it looks nice. But I think it should be swipe across kinda like the original one.
And I feel it should only display XperiaPLAY optimized games since that was the point of it. The original didn't even display all optimized games.

Argh! Sure it looks different...but at the same time, it looks really ugly for my taste. Not for me as it has something similar to the "Windows phone" design which I hate.
it looks very messy..
or maybe it's just the way the boy is sitting there staring that's starting to creep me out (sorry)
is very ugly
Just got it last night and love it. Looks very good imo

I like sslauncher, here my screenshots:
It isn't ugly but it just looks different how u said
You have to install it and try it for e.g. 1 week then you can decide
it's not ugly, the look is your own choice
I've been using this for a while now. My screens are not pretty at all, they are functional. If you want pretty, that it's also possible. It's your own choice.
I believe this one breaks the mould, and lets us be creative. No longer do we have to settle for a rather limited set of options. Isn't that why we went all Android in the first place?
Btw, there are now themes in the market. I'd live to know if they are good, and if they mess with your existing setup. You can save the whole lot, which is really cool, so I may risk a try.

multi picture live wallpaper on the market should be able to achieve what you're looking for
