[Q] Which AT&T capable LG G2 DOES NOT have carrier IQ? - AT&T LG G2

I am on my next to last day to exchange. Let me say that I love this phone except for the fact that AT&T has Carrier IQ installed and it can not be removed without rooting (at least on the 2 year contract one). There is a process to stop it and it's not that hard, except that it is a PITA to do it every time you reboot. If you forget to force stop, you are in the clutches of Carrier IQ. Also, I have doubts that even though it is stopped via a forced stop, that it is not residing somewhere else on the phone and still doing the nasties that it was designed to do. There is no sense in going over CIQ as there are a couple of threads already on the subject in reference to this phone and AT&T.
Unfortunately, I am stuck with AT&T and carrier swapping is not an option so the only option open to me right now is the phone.
So, is there a version of the LG G2 that is available for sale in the US that can be used on the AT&T network that does not have CIQ installed on it? Maybe the full sale priced one that AT&T sells? Or maybe a different one from Best Buy or someplace else? In a nut shell. Looking for a LG G2 that I can use on the US AT&T network that does not have CIQ installed.
I am new to this "smart phone" game but really am impressed with this phone and want to keep it, but in reality, unless I root it and void my warranty, this CIQ issue could be a killer for me. The reason is because I used to work at that big glass building at Fort Meade and know more than I want to about electronic data mining and collection. BTW, AT&T (both on line and store front), LG tech rep (store front), and LG (on line) all say that CIQ is not removable in the version that I have without rooting.
Any options that I am missing?

I don't think you have any other options friend. I'm also in a similar boat of having to return it tomorrow if I choose to do so. I think the full price one, or the one from best buy would be the same as they're all at&t branded so i'm sure they are all part of the exact same batch. There wouldn't be anything different between them.
I think I'm going to go ahead and root and disable it. There is no other phone that I think is this good, period.

Short answer, no. Long answer, your only option would be to buy the International or maybe Korean variants online and at full price and slap an AT&T SIM in it. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't get LTE though.
I get the feeling this is not what you want to do, so if CIQ bothers you that much and you're not willing to root you're going to have to return it.
You might want to consider waiting for the Nexus 5, which will likely share at least some hardware characteristics of the G2.

Simple. Root. Easy and fixes the issue and more.

guys...its not that hard...just root it...install system tuner...disable 6 entries...done.

I have never rooted a phone. I do not know how or what is required. I am not computer illiterate so I think that this is something that I can do if I had instructions on how to do it. Where would I start to look for the process of rooting the phone?
What is required to do it?
Hate to loose the warranty on it but I guess that I can always return it to factory default (I think) if I had a problem in the future. I just like this phone too damned much to let it go.

You'll also want to read up on how to install and use ADB. There are some good guides out there that include videos.

The T-Mobile variant gives you the option of turning off CIQ. I was getting wakelocks from it, but since I've turned it off, it's been as quiet as a church mouse. Not sure if the radios are the same, I don't really know what AT&T uses.

Root it. And leave at&t as soon as it becomes an option because this won't be the last CIQ phone

Well, I read the links. It looks pretty straight forward. Bit confused on some things. On the phone, I can go directly to the "Developers Options" under the main menu and turn that function on or off at will. Why all the hum drum about going into the About Phone menu to the Software Version to hit it 8 to 10 times to get the Developers Options turned on? Also while watching the video on how to root it, I got a bit confused on the "shift right click, open a command window" at 2:08. I do not have that capability. Different OS maybe? Anyways, I can always get a command window through the Start Run menu.
If I root the phone, I know that I can restore it to it original stock based on the first sticky in this forum. However, someone indicated that even if you return it to stock, there will be indications that it was rooted. But I could not tell what version of the phone that he was referencing.
Do I/Should I back up anything first before I start? Not that much on the phone right now, just my Contacts, a couple of pictures, and some apps that I downloaded. Home screen setups and things like that.

Apparntly the VZW variant shows the phone as rooted in about phone. I went through every single menu on the T-Mobile variant and I see nothing to reference that I have rooted my phone.

Oh that was it? I had that turned off when I set up the phone. Lol Thanks

Ok, so once its rooted, what do I do? Where do I delete the files to get rid of carrier iq?

Custom rom; no carrieriq. Besides didn't they change it so it's not that big a deal anymore?

This is absolutely not listed in the Verizon version. Pretty sure the VS980 has CIQ too.
Sneaky punks... :/
Or just flash a custom stock rom that is debloated and has modded options preinstalled.

[Q] tethering and my htc and att?

Hello, can someone help me with something. I rooted my htc inspire a few months back. I did not change the room just left it as is. I am now trying to tethering my accer a500 to my htc inspire. I have tried the hot spot and also tried to hook cable to tablet from phone. when i try hot spot it turns on then turns off says i need to call att.
I am wondering do i have to flash phone with a differnet rom inorder to use those functions. or is their a way around the issue. Sorry for my lack of knowing lol. i am looking but I have not found a newbie guid covering this. I am asuming i do need to flash phone with custom rom but wanted to make sure.
update
I guess should of added more info. I have rooted my phone a long while back. I did not flash a custom Rom to my phone. I am running the Rom the phone came with just rooted. Thanks again for any help someone will be able to give. I am still reading the fourms just guess not understanding. From what I am getting if I want hot spot to work or tethering to work I need to flash my phone with a custom Rom.
a 30second search of putting 'free tether htc inspire' into google would have given you the answer you need. This has been asked over and over and over. You are technically breaching your agreement and if you get caught that is on you. Here is a link in the market for a simple to use app. Next time please search before making threads.

ok
Lol sorry but you really think I didn't do that like a month ago. Really I have read and re-read every topic even close to covering this topic. One topic saying yes you can the next saying it didn't work. Figured would find someone nice enough to say yes you can do it, and here is the topic area to look. Thank you for the link
Update, followed your link and it went no were. Google free tethering again and came up with the same thing. Someone saying they have a way to make it work. Then a bunch of posts after that with people saying it worked for a bit but not now. I'm just looking to see if it can be done, what has and has not worked and if I am right and I need a custom Rom.
I use EasyTether Pro, don't know if its safe, but I have been using it for almost 2 years on 2 different phones, and haven't been stuck with a higher bill yet

thanks for the info
Was wondering do you guys use the cable, or set up a WiFi way. I don't plan on doing any downloading I use a program that looks up info for me on the net. Maybe some Facebook on the night ****. Once again thanks for the help with this very cool.
I dont have to DD an app to use hotspot because my dev built it in, which most roms do... but if you must stick with your stock rom... (thumbs down)
I used "open garden" wifi tether on a few different phones requiring that functionality. Its one of the best out there IMHO
P.S. If you like the stock feel and stability? of your stock rom, but are ready to open your phone up to a brand new life...
My suggestion for a jump off point(ROM) is 'COREDROID'! I dont rock it anymore, but it was imo the best, next very close runner up would be 'AndroidRevolution'...
Both of those have built in hotspot, plus a WAYYY faster UI than stock. Just My Opinion. good luck!
I have never tried to tether using stock rom, however almost all custom roms I have used have the ability to tether. Maybe try a custom rom, I like IceColdSandwich v 4.2. Good luck!
Thank u very much that was what I was really looking for. I will start looking for custom Rom that might work for me. I really need to learn how to back up the Rom I have so I can save it so I can flash it back to phone if need be. Thanks again all for all the help with this.
Start by looking for a recovery like "cwm recovery"... within the Inspire forums. Follow the directions exactly and read them ALL first, then reread them before flashing. Once youve achieved a recovery, you'll have opened yourself up to try ROMS i.e.Try coredroid for a few days then perform a backup of coredroid, then flash AR and run that for a few days.
As it seems in your OP, youre kinda used to a stock ROM and both of those are based on stock, with enhancements, and bloatware removed... MUCH FASTER and responsive.
So just start with one thing at a time - Recovery Time!!!
p.s. once youve installed your recovery, you should backup your current config before going to the next step - ROM!!! Practice good backup skills, and you'll limit your headaches considerably.
hello, thank you all for your replies. I am really wanting to move up to custom roms. Prob is I do not know how to back up my current rom, and how to check it to make sure its good. I am looking for the info and what app to use to get the best back up file. i want to be sure I know how to back up and also how to go back to the back up if need be before I move forward. If someone knows of a guide to do that stuff or has any good information could you pm me please. thanks a bunch for the help.

I used the EasyTether app a few times around last Christmas. Today I got the email from AT&T about tethering. So I guess now we can't use EasyTether?
I went to my local store yesterday and had a rep examine my phone to be sure there was no way I could tether. She noted it in my account. Today I got a txt msg saying I was tethering. So I called the 866 number in the msg and the phone rep told me they can now tell any time a computer or any other device is plugged into the phone and any time a tethering app is used. So according to her logic, we can't even use our computers to charge our phones.

*I* know that. But she apparently doesn't. She told me that ANY time ANYTHING is plugged into the phone now counts as tethering. Even if NO apps are being used. I know better than to believe that lol.

Sucks for EasyTether and PDANet users
This seems a good place to ask. Of course, the ref with whom I spoke claims that their system is flawless, but is there anyone here who kows AT&Ts systems that can speak as to the reliability of their inspection system?
The reason I ask, I was informed that "the data connection from your phone was opened to another device several times within the past 2 months." I used it once, I'm afraid that something looks like tethering to their system, and I'll end up with a more expensive capped plan rather than my unlimited plan (truth is that I've only gone over 3 GB once of which I'm aware, I just don't like the concept of caps.... or more cost).
I finaly put a custom rom on my phone and was able to hotspot and tether my phone to my laptop. Only used it to load one page of xda just to see if it worked or not. I never got a text meassage or phone call or anything. I also use a bunch of bandwidth on a daily bases. e-mail, web games and such. I had to re-lock my phone sending it to htc to get repaired, when i get it back it will be re rooted and custom rom and tethered again. Will let you know what happens then. lol
They will constantly improve the system. the more people that find ways around it the more they will invest in closing the holes. they didnt used to have the ability to see but more and more is pointing to packet inspection and TTL's on them to see if theres another device behind the phone. it's not just an apn setting anymore. it's best either to not tether and breach contract or just pay the $15 a month and use it. Getting around it now, could change next week or a month or tomorrow. companies will do what they can to protect their services from being taken advantage of, and with the number of users that are stealing tethering data, that is a considerable cost. do i think its fair that i need to pay $15 to connect my pc to phone for just a picture here and there, no, but the consumer always wants everything for free.

[Q] T-Mobile LG Optimus F3 Forum?

Okay, so I know this phone doesn't exactly win the spec war, but it's awesome and would make a fantastic rooted phone. Unfortunately there isn't a forum here on XDA for the device (either because it's too new or there isn't a demand for it)
Do you guys think a forum will be made for this device? It'd be nice to at least have a place to say what root methods DON'T work (I've tried a few)
Thanks for the help, XDA rules!
I second this. I am planning on buying a new phone and after researching numerous phones out there based on my tastes and constraints, I think this phone works very well (another is Samsung Galaxy Exhibit 2). One flaw that I heard is the amount of storage in this phone is around 4gb. Without a way to put apps on an external SD card (which I believe would require a custom ROM), the storage would probably fill up pretty quickly. So it'll be great if XDA opened a forum for this phone.
As a side note if anyone can point to other devices that fit my needs I would be grateful:
- Less than 4.2" screen (preferably 4").
- Android only
I don't have any financial constraints or any favorite companies.
Thanks!

Bad news
I have created the recovery tree, and have created a recovery.img for this phone. ok now heres the bad news OUR lg optimus f3 has a stock 3.4 kernel with a locked bootloader. Even worse news is that 3.4 "locking" features a sha5 hash system for its image/partitions (recovery, boot, and bootloader). Even worse news there is no known (or atleast what i know or have heard) way to get around this. The phone will be forever locked until lg updates or allows said lock to be removed. I have flashed the recovery and have had no damage to my device but it just sticks at "unsecure recovery" and does a hard reset (factory restore) every time i try to play with it which is a huge flaw if you ask me.
I have hexedited the bootloader and found that there is indeed "juicy" strings within that may tell to a future unlock these strings being
-Device UnLock!, so Boot Success!!
-oem unlock
-ERROR: Could not do normal boot. Reverting to fastboot mode
Also these strings could just be defualt with all lg bootloaders meaning....there is no hope.
My phone is without a soul and I will never be buy lg again.
If anyone is able to get into fastboot
1. PM ME
2. run : fastboot oem unlock
Again root for this phone works great as long as you dont touch recovery, bootloader, or boot partitions

I've seen confirmations on three carriers (can't remember which ones off the top of my head, sorry [edit-well, T-Mobile and Virgin Mobile come to mind now]), so I'd assume the answer is yes. Regardless, I have yet to see anyone complain about adverse affects, so no reason not to try (though, grain of salt—I'm brand new to android).
For anyone that has this, how are the antennas on this phone?
I just ordered one from tmo and am hoping to get better reception at my house than from my Samsung or HTC.

BAHAHA me to man i think im down to 10 days. Im trying to get some attention but i need someone who knows little endian, and their way around bootloaders. Id be willing to donate to someone who can help me out, also to support the other 3 variants (if the aboot differs).
I have a recovery created also and a device tree (needs gpio support for kernel).
And to awnser your question, yes loki will work IF i can get the needed values so that when recovery/boot is read into memory that it overwrites the security check feature in aboot. If the wrong values are give you may end up with a brick (very slim chance)
My return window just closed . If it helps, you can pull the open source from LG's website and merge it with the android source. I also discovered an even easier solution: set up the LG Sync application, and select the "upgrade recovery option". Then, when it begins downloading, remove your phone, set Windows (or your relevant OS) to show hidden files and folders, and go the the Program Data folder. There should be something like "PHONEAX" under the LG Electronics folder that will contain the full stock kdz file when the download is complete.
It's really kind of surprising that there's absolutely no dev love out there for the F3. I suppose it's because the phone is entry level, but it's really not that bad but for the storage. I got it as a gift, so no complaints here—of course, if anyone wants to donate a Note or Galaxy gratis, I suppose I'd be willing to switch .
I had a Galaxy S4 from Verizon. I switched to T-Mobile Because believe it or not the network is stronger where I work. Also, there pricing on plans cannot be beat. But, I digress. The Galaxy S4 being a Verizon device never really functioned the way it was supposed to on T-Mobiles network. It was unlocked however was still useless for 4G LTE and while I could do better than edge in some places, those places were few and far between. I started to assess what it is I actually used my phone for these days. I'm not into modding with custom ROMS and kernels anymore and I'm not much of a multi-tasker either so I decided that I did not need the super power device anymore. The specs on this phone are perfect for what I need my phone to do. Its been a long time since I have gone beyond rooting to remove bloat and tether. I agree that the storage on this sucks. I don't understand why there are any devices anymore that come with less than 32gb internal. storage is the cheapest thing that can be added to a device and its not as though it uses much physical space. other than the storage I will say that I am impressed with the quality of this device and I don't know that I would even put this as low as "entry level device." I would say its more of a mid-grade device. I am also happy with the reception on this device and its nice to have a compact phone again that actually fits comfortably in my hand and on my belt.

No argument here. I like it well enough, but I'm (1) a closet geek; and (2) a heavy multitasker, so given the option I'd prefer something with more screen space (I just graduated from law school, so I do a lot of reading on the go). As a phone, however, you really couldn't ask for more—the size otherwise pretty much perfect, it's relatively snappy with most applications, and once debloated the stock launcher is pretty good.
That being said, the second I see a safe way to deal with the bootloader pop up, I'm diving in, no question .

Rant about d850

So like many others using d850 ive noticed that on cloudy 1.2 hotspot is broken. I figured out a fix. I grabbed the apns-conf.xml file from the stock rom and replaced it in cloudys rom. And tethering works great. Don't know if the fix has already been posted but i know a bunch of people were having the problem so i just wanted to share.
Heres what i did:
1. Grab this file
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B6Sl-yzm6h3FbXE3S1JZQkIwTDg/edit?usp=docslist_api
2. Using your root explorer of choice, backup your current apns-conf.xml which can be found in the /system/etc folder
3. Place the downloaded apns-conf.xml in the /system/etc folder and set permissions rw-r-r
4. Reboot phone
5. Go to apn settings and reset default all the current apns will clear out and you'll be left with the stock apn.
I tried adding the stock apn to the list of apns in the settings and while it would add it wouldnt allow mobile hotspot to actually share the connection, itd connect but the connected device wouldn't be able to access internet. Again sorry if this has been posted and sorry for any errors I'm on mobile.
TL;DR: Found out AT&T removed functionality from the phone and have yet to find software experience that provides all features
I want to start off by saying I love this phone. I switched from the nexus 5 to the G3 shortly after launch and have been happy for the majority of the time I've had my phone. In all honesty this rant isn't so much about the d850 as it is AT&T's meddling with the software but I'll explain what I mean. When i first received the phone one of the first things I did was root to remove bloatware and carrier IQ and also to install xposed, I thought that was the extent to which AT&T had dirtied up a great phone, so I just brushed it off and went about way never thinking twice. I found something that i felt covered all my needs. The only minor complaint I had was there was no hotspot quicksetting option, but at that point it was still something so minor I was able to overlook it. Now fast forward a couple of months to when Cloudy was released, after seeing constant posts on reddit about OTA's and AT&T not having received a single one, I felt that switching to an international base would put me on the latest and greatest, plus the flash addict in me just really wanted to try something new. So I installed bump and flashed away, it booted up, I played with all the new options in settings, thought it wasn't bad, but to me what was worth the price of admission alone was i got a hotspot quicksetting tile, I figured this was something that must've been added in later. This was during the time that to get LTE back you had to play around with build.prop, so being the curious person that i was I flashed back to stock and applied some of the same build.prop changes to the stock rom, one in particular, changing the operator from AT&T to OPEN. I rebooted the phone and checked the phone, all sort of nifty little features were added (dropbox in file manager, brightness and volume sliders) but the one in particular that really surprised me? A hotspot quicksetting tile, it's a broken tile that doesn't work but its there. Now this means that this feature came stock on the phone and AT&T removed it from their variant, effectively removing functionality from my phone. Now i know not everyone on AT&T has a hotspot capable plan but these quicksetting tiles can be edited, it could've been turned off by default giving you the option to add it later. Now with the limited number of combinations available to me I've tried every rom available that has this feature and it seems that it gives me this feature at the cost of something else (latest version of cloudy has a broken hotspot, earlier versions had broken speakerphone, poweruser is stripped down to much for my tastes and leaving the build.prop in open leaves you with a broken hotspot all together), leaving me feeling like i have an incomplete phone no matter which software choice I make. I know in a way i brought it on myself for initially flashing the phone, but that's like saying that I'm guilty for wondering how the other half lives. Overall its a great phone and i don't regret buying it in the slightest, I just really needed to vent about a great disservice that was done to this phone, and will really make me consider buying another carrier branded phone.
Yawn.

Totally agree with you on the att screwing with phones is bull****. It's the contract deals that always sucker me in to buying a phone at a discounted price.

Another downside to changing to OPEN in the build.prop is that you lose the secret dialer menus. Try using it and you get null

All carriers do it. Always have. Think about video calling. Stock devices had this in EU for years before the us ever did. So what did carriers do. Ordered devices without front cameras. Same thing with call recording. If you never want to deal with this then to be honest your only option will be to by unbranded devices from EU. Yes you pay full price but with the proper research you can be sure to get all that the device can do out of the box.
You should copy and paste that to ATT, *yawn*
zelendel said:

Unfortunately this is true. AT&T is notorious for doing so. For instance, every android phone I have owned that was AT&T branded has always had the network select disabled but the global variants and some US variants did not. The only reasons I can think of is to lock you in on the bandwidths they want (the most likely scenario) and to prevent non technical people from inadvertently changing this setting and calling tech support. Unless enough people complain to the carriers, the phone manufacturers, AND their congress reps, nothing will change as I am sure it is about the almighty dollar.

i think it's because it's something people know already: carriers lock, deactivate, revise the manufacturer's features.
think of the AT&T S5 deactivating download boost (LTE+wifi speeds), or our wireless charger being PMA vs Qi, etc, etc.
I completely agree and I use the hotspot feature daily. In the absence of a quick tile I used tasker/sercure settings/tasker app factory to make a very small installable hotspot toggle app and placed the icon on my desktop. Tap it once for on again for off and it works great. If you haven't already found another solution give it a shot.

I think stock brought something like that but it was just a shortcut to the setting, i found a way to get the hotspot working again on 1.2 cloudy and currently in love with my phone again.

Oby2, I really like Coudy 1.2 on my D850 but I can't get the hotspot to actually work. It starts and I can connect to it but I don't get data transfer. I'm not getting the AT&T authentication popup that you get with the stock ROM and I'm pretty sure this is where the problem is. I have hotspot in my plan and when I flash back to stock it works great. Can you share how you got it working please? TIA

What dialer menus are you referring to? I have several that still work: "3845#*850#", "*#*#4636#*#*", "*#06#". Of course if any others were broken I do not know about it.

Heres what i did:
1. Grab this file

2. Using your root explorer of choice, backup your current apns-conf.xml which can be found in the /system/etc folder
3. Place the downloaded apns-conf.xml in the /system/etc folder and set permissions rw-r-r
4. Reboot phone
5. Go to apn settings and reset default all the current apns will clear out and you'll be left with the stock apn and working hotspot.
Let me know if you can grab from my drive, I think I set everything up correctly but im not sure. I pretty much copy pasted from the cloudy Q&A thread where i had posted the fix per the rules but it just drowned amongst all the other posts. I'll update my OP in case anyone else needs it.
Many thanks Oby2, with your fix Cloudy is now perfect for my use. I'm looking forward to version 2.x for the D850

Bought a N920T, Can't use, please help!!!

Please forgive my ignorance, I'm new to this!
Here's what's going on.
I bought the device, turned it on, and it opens to someone elses LOCK SCREEN. Maybe I shouldnt have but I immediately factory reset.
During reset, says "E:failed to mount / preload (No such file or directory)" - Was it rooted before? When I turn it on, I get the google lockout "please enter an email address previously associated with this device". Obviously, I have no idea what that is. Person who sold it to me says they don't know what i'm talking about. I just want to use the device (Don't necessarily want to root it, but only beacuse I'm afraid of bricking. I'm not opposed to the idea, and I rooted my galaxy nexus way back when) Obviously, because I can't get to the settings, I can't enable debugging or OEM.
BUT - The device DOES enter download mode! Does this mean I can flash a factory image? If so, will my google lockout problem even go away if I do? Note 5 came with 5.1.1, which is when they implemented the lockout; would 5.0 run on a note5 at all?
Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a stock factory image flash via Odin is the best thing you can do. Who knows what is on that phone.
+1. Odin to stock. You can get Odin and the stock image from Tek's sticky at the top of this section.
Here's the thing, if you met face to face you should have tested it. If you purchased it online, should have been reset. Sounds suspicious to me. Either the seller isn't being honest or, not to accuse you, you are not. Let's assume the seller, verify the imei number with swappa or another service and see what that tells you if you haven't. I would be cautious using the phone, hopefully it's not going to be an issue for you.

It is very sketchy. I don't blame you for being suspicious of me, but I will say that before I reset the thing, the person's lock screen had a new email notification, which listed their address, and I did send them a message asking if they lost a phone. I would be fully willing to return it at no cost if they responded to me saying they did indeed lose it, but that hasn't happened, and it's been a while.
You sound like you think I should just dump it? I'd like to either find out if it's missing or use it, but if you think something might happen to me, maybe I will? What do you think could happen?

Oops, sorry. Well, thanks for your help. It'll take a few hours to download the stock image but I'll let you guys know what happens.
When I'm just flashing stock I don't use a kernel or anything like that, right? I'm usually the one getting irritated at people for not using the search function, but when it comes to CFW/Smartphones I just always want to make 100% sure I know what I'm doing. I don't want a $400 brick.
I really appreciate all the help!
I don't think you can just flash stock and beat this. If you cannot anyway, there's another forum called.. GSM something or other, and I've seen people post they can beat the Google email requirement with a black box.

The E failed message always pops up when factory reseting a Samsung phone and the email requirement is part of the previous user activating the reactivation lock. If a hard reset is done with the option enabled the phone is inaccessible till the original email info is entered. Maybe seller forgot to deactivate it b4 selling, happens a lot actually. Many ppl activate it on initial phone set up and forget or don't know exactly how it works and sell without turning it off.

You can and will be locked out of the device permanently if Odin fails. It's best to contact the seller and get them to clear it by entering the required info or just get your money back. Next time check your stuff before you buy. And how come you didn't in the first place? Your story doesn't exactly add up or exist.

A lot of people come here after they have stolen a phone. Funny thing you didn't go off on the other person that said the very same thing. I asked you those questions because someone else did and you didn't answer them. And just so you know, no I'm not a cop anymore. I was simply seeing what you would say. You need to calm down and look at it from the end of the spectrum. I don't know you, and I don't know if you would come on here after stealing a phone with a made up crappy story. Not like that hasn't happened before from others.
I was simply trying to help you but whatever. If you didn't steal it, hope it works out and you get to use your phone.

Sm-n930p rom?

Am I missing a post? All I can find is the posts for the 930F/FD.
I'm trying to get a handle on this whole 60% battery issue before it gets pushed to me. I know about the app that disables it for you, but honestly I'd rather have Root for ultimate say.
If there's not a ROM for the Sprint version, why not? (other than no one has made one)
I'm sorry if this has been covered in an older post.

Yeah. I have a fix. Download this .tar and put each part in the right box. Turn on OEM unlock and Debugging and flash with the latest version of Odin3_v3.12.4_4 . My phone now charges to 100% and the stupid recall nag screen is gone. The phone is 100% stock and unrooted still. You're welcome. Don't forget to hit that thanks button.

I will post if it works or not, I wish there was a way to revert to the factory firmware and not wipe the data. So I assume a simple restore really does not restore it to factory another words the updates are still there not the firmware it shipped with? I have to back up my phone and then I am going to give it a shot, if I get a fail message I hope someone here can help me figure out why and how to fix it.

My guess is the updates applied will stick. The method I mentioned previously works, I know it's a headache to restore data but it's worth it in the end.
Sorry guys, I've flashed this three times and the Samsung patch still over rides and in installs the 60% limit. Only solution is to root and I've not found anything that works yet.

Well we better get a custom rom quick because Samsung told me today that they will release an update that prevents the phones from being turned on as well as carriers are going to block note 7s from connecting to their network. We have to make our voices heard becaise today its the note 7, tomorrow who knows, I will never buy samsung again after being treated this way.
PS Disable samsung cloud because they are using it to drain your battery...

How dare they try so hard to prevent death/injury to you and your loved ones and damage to your property...
It's not like any of that would tarnish their image, right? Wait...
Yeah any lithium ion battery has the possibility to blow up, i dont care that you are a senior member, if you don't have anything useful to add the post, then get out...
We are looking for solutions so get off the soapbox, my Note 7 is at just as much risk as your phone.
To the OP, we really need a custom rom and root quick cuz it wont be long until we are blocked from the networks.

True that, however we will be powerless against the IMEI block, that's a cell tower thing, something we don't have control over.
I was successful in reverting to a previous update before the 60% one. I also found a previous version of the package blocker described in some of the posts I've read. All of which you can find via Google (Android central) or XDA.
Phone automatically tried updating, so I skipped ahead as fast as possible to turn on airplane mode. I then installed the already downloaded disabler, disabled the recommended packages and turned on the radio again.
(Note: Ensure that you de-encrypt your files before starting the process, I forgot to and lost some files.)

Sorry guys, I've flashed this three times and the Samsung patch still over rides and in installs the 60% limit. Only solution is to root and I've not found anything that works yet.

Can someone point me to the easiest free way to Root the Note 7, its a Sprint Note 7 so I can get rid of the 60% thing. Does Root allow you to stop the 60% battery limit? Does it allow you to stop all the dang warnings? I would appreciate it. I keep getting different threads about how to Root the Sprint Note 7 so if someone can post a link to the best thread on how to do this the easiest without messing it up. I really appreciate it, thank you in advance.

Unfortunately, there isn't a root option for us 930P users. There was something that we *could* have used, however that got patched a couple updates ago and we can't go any further back than the one that patched it (to my understanding).
If we have root access and the XPOSED module, then there certainly will be something we can do about it if you do a quick search in the play store... of course like the package disabler, Samsung will come hard at those apps too... Im lucky enough to not ever had to deal with the 60 percent update, hopefully I'm lucky enough that someone will release a rooted PHE or unlock key for the bootloader.
How was it you were able to get the nag gone? soon as i finished flashing it shows the nag; and the battery update notice, which I don't know which service to disable using a different disabler when i click on debloat, it doesn't block update, unlike disabler pro :\

You won't be able to get 100% of the nag screen gone, but I was able to get it down to just the little one when charging.
