I accidentaly dropped my phone in the pool. I tried turnung it on without drying the phone first and only put it in rice after that.
Now, when i try to boot the phone it shuts down after it checks the network saying it has low battery. Also, if i try to plug the charger it shows me the high/low temperature level symbol.
I managed to enter the stock recovery menu using the hardware keys and wiped all the data.
However if i enter the fastboot mode using the hardware keys it doesn't shut down.
Is my phone still okay or is there any way to fix it?
The phone is an Acer s500 Cloudmobile.
Make sure its completely dry (mine took a whole week of drying). Try a new battery also. Check the USB connectors and other ports to see if there are any dirt or accumulations present.

So today, as i was on my way to work I accidentally held down the lockscreen button and the power menu popped up (I was on Glorious Overdoes V2) in the middle of a text and i pressed reboot accidentally... My phone never rebooted... It was stuck on the black Sidekick 4G/T-Mobile screen and then it would go black, then once again that screen would pop up... I removed the battery and put it back in, and without me pressing any buttons the same screen came back up... I let it sit for a while and after 20minutes nothing changed except the phone got really hot. Luckily I had my OLD Nokia in my car and popped my SIM card in it so that i could continue having a phone. I let The Sidekick sit for 4hours and it was extremely hot and then eventually it just turned off completely (Im assuming the battery drained, it was at 90% 4 hours before.) I got home, plugged it in and it wouldn't even turn on the charging screen. Somebody told me that my Motherboard is fried but I don't know. I called T-mobile and they're going to send me a new phone since it's still in the 1-year warranty period.
Anyone know if they're going to be able to inspect my old device and find out if i rooted/flashed it? because i can't get into it or anything to ODIN
I feel like they will try putting a new battery in it, and if it still wont turn on you should be fine.
It got hot because the CPU was churning over something and couldn't enter a low power state. I bet you could coax the phone into download mode and reflash it.
what do you mean coax the phone into download mode? by using the button combo to get it into download mode when turning on? I've tried that and it doesn't work. I tried rebooting into recovery and that wont work either. Also, it wont charge the battery anymore...
I've always had a hard time getting into download mode, and my phone works fine. I just spent 5 minutes trying different combinations until I got it.
I've heard people say trackpad-power button, volume down-home-power button, volume up/down-put battery in-plug in USB, etc etc etc. But the only method that works for me is to put in the battery, plug in the USB, wait for the charging screen, then hold volume down-trackpad-power, releasing power as soon as the screen goes black
You say your phone is turning on as soon as the battery is inserted? What if you have it plugged into USB first?
I had the exact same problem, I sent it into samsung and they just replaced a part(never told me which one) and it was fixed. I did noticed that when the sccreen was poped open to show the keyboard, it would stop. But it's probably a loose cable like I've read before.

Worst case scenario if you can't figure it out here on XDA, you could always sell it on eBay for parts as defective.
I recently dropped my phone on the ground and the glass is now broken. But it worked normally for about 14 days. Then suddenly one day at work it shut down on its own. After that I wasn't able to start it. No reaction for any of the buttons, nor their combinations. Even when I plugged the charger in, no sign of life. I thought it's over.
Then the next day, I plugged the charger in and the screen with 0% battery appeared. So I left it charging, but when I came back to it (20 minutes) it was dead again. Not even the diode indicating it is charging. Again no response for the buttons, nothing. So I tried to disassemble it, disconnected everything. Put it together and viola! The screen indicating 0% battery was there again. I left it like that for a while, and when it was charged a little, I tried to start it. It started and normally worked. At least it seemed to, but after a while (1 - 3 minutes) while I was using it, it went to the dead phone again.
So I discovered, that when I disconnect the battery for a while and then connect it again, I am able to boot the phone. I was even able to do factory reset. I thought I got it and that it was some software fault. However after like 5 minutes (it downloaded all apps, logged to my google account, looked all ok) the screen shut down again and again the phone played dead.
Now I have the phone booted, and charging (almost 100% now). But I guess when I start using it again, it will again go to the dead mode (since it did it everytime after I used it a little, no specific action done, totally random).
I guess it has to be related to the broken glass. Maybe some water or humidity got through it and the phone is trying to save itself from damage by going to the dead mode. It's weird because sometimes (like now) the phone is OK when not used, normally chraging and not shutting down (now it's ON for about 40 minutes), but if it shuts down, it takes about 3 or 4 battery disconnect and connect again, before it boots to the main screen. Sometimes it just dies before the screen, sometimes it dies when I try to plug the charger in, really no idea what causes it.
How should I diagnose it? USB debugging and check the log when using it and when it dies? Or has anyone experienced this too? Or could the battery be damaged? Or can I somewhere set the phone to prevent from selfkilling actions? Today I will try my main board in my friends G Flex 2, to see if it's the board, or something else.
Error log from console before it shut down

Adding the error log from console
OK so it was probably mother board fault, so I had to buy a new phone It is like 3 months, and I just yesterday accidentally poured some water on it, so i destroyed another one. It is still in warranty but I guess with water damage there is no warranty. Anyone knows where to find all the water damage indicators? Or is it even possible to make it look like there was no water damage?
As the title states, if I try to restart my phone or turn it off the phone will not power back up. When I plug it into my computer or wall outlet it remains unresponsive and will not charge. The only way I can get my phone booted back up is unplugging the battery and plugging it back in. The power button functions fine when the phone is on. I have already done a hard reset and that changed nothing.
I sent the device back to Huawei initially when the device was unresponsive and they sent it back claiming it was water damaged. I work in a oyster hatchery so I guess the high humidity and salt environment has done something to the phone. Have any of you experienced something like this?
Thanks
Quick update, twice in a row I have tried to open the camera app and the phone shuts down and I have to open the phone up to unplug the battery to get it to start. Im thinking that there is a short in the phone? I was taking pictures with no issues yesterday.

OK so my mother dropped her phone in the toilet and it died basically. I left it to dry then tried it again. It came on but the battery said 0% and it powered back off. When I plugged it in the icon came up and said 99% but it wouldn't come on without being plugged in so I assume it fried the battery when it got wet with power in it. I tried to reset it by holding the buttons but then it got stuck in download mode and wouldn't start up anymore for some reason, so I tried installing TWRP which failed. I assume with no battery power the device is just losing power and causing it to fail. So basically now I'm stuck on a screen when I plug it in that just says it needs to be recovered.
I took it apart but managed to damage the screen (like an idiot) so I bought a new screen. Basically she didn't want to lose the pictures from the phone so I have a new battery ordered to try power the board and at least get the data from it if it has a charging problem before replacing the board. I'm hoping it's only the battery that's damaged but I doubt she'd be that lucky. If it does need a new board then I'll get her one but I was just hoping to at least get the data back if possible.
Anyway my whole point is since it's not starting up, if I flash TWRP the data is encrypted and inaccessible right? Is there even a way to use a HOME_CSC or something or is the data just done for?
EDIT: As far as I'm aware it was just on the latest stock ROM before doing anything.
Hey all,
While I was watching a video 2 days ago, the screen started to glitch and the phone shut itself down. I tried to restart it by holding [power]+[vol up]+[vol down]. I got stuck in the boot screen, then it shut down completely. I tried charging it but it didn't work. I left it for several hours and tried again, this time it started to charge the battery. I immediately tried to boot it. It booted normally but froze at the home screen, and went black again. Now, I get no response when I plug it to my computer, I can't get into download mode, and it doesn't the charge battery.
Any help would be appeciated.
See if you can get into recovery, clear system cache.
I doubt this will fix it so immediately afterwards try booting up in safe mode.
Copy any critical data, enable debugging, prepare to do a reflash.
If you installed any recent apps, try uninstalling them especially launchers or power management. They may be the cause of the boot loop. Check apps listed as system Administrator in security for anything that shouldn't be there, and disable all.
Try a hard reboot (simulates pulling the battery).
If no joy, factory reset.
If this doesn't work try reflashing to the same firmware version.
If that doesn't work you're likely looking at a mobo failure.
Happy hunting...

Most probably a motherboard issue. I experienced something similar with a brand new Note 4 back in the day. It was repaired by the seller (motherboard replacement).

The BGA chipsets aren't tolerant of board flexing or direct impact; solder joints can fracture.
The chipsets themselves can suffer internal damage from high G impacts.
Internal PCB traces can also be broken by excess board flexing, they are many times fine pitched.
A good case keeps drops survivable by limiting the G loading on the phone.
However I wouldn't write it off just yet... gentle pressure on the mobo chipsets etc with a pencil eraser or such with the device on, may reveal a solder fracture or trace break.
Also inspect ribbon connectors for damage and full contact. Ensure all ground pathways are intact sometimes these can be hard to spot or use a screw (a short length wrong screw won't work).
