Hi all,
I am new to this forum, I am experiencing an unsolvable issue related to wifi connection.
My device (nexus s I9023) cannot connect to any wifi, when i insert the password for a given network, it seems as if it accept it even if it is wrong, and stating:""saved secured with WPA2". I tried to removed the security password from my router, but the problem is still there. The tel is brand new as I received it from the insurance ( previous one stopped restarted) version is android 4.1.2
Please help

Hi guys,
as tittled I have the desire s and I connect to my network but can't go online, and I believe this is a problem with Android 2.3, cause I got the same problem on my DHD (when I updated it to 2.3 ) on the same network.
I'm using speedtouch 585 and I'm 100% sure that nothing wrong with my network and I did return it to faculty sitting and the same problem
Any help, suggestion will be appreciated
Strange problem I guess ,, thanks anyway
check my thread in development section with cisco router possibly same problem, do you get correct ips from dchp server and have you tried disabling security to troubleshoot.
Hi Guys. You are the only hope for me to resolve the problem with WiFi on my device.
So the situation is: I received Motorola Defy with Android 2.2.2 on board not from a shop. This device was already hacked a little (root, localization etc..)
So I decided to flash CM 7 on it
I did everything as described in instruction. But after I have flashed this device I found that WiFi does not work. It began to work after flashing for a small period but then it stopped working
Device successfully connects to wifi, receives IP address but no application can connect to Internet. I tried to install some WiFi programs to try to resolve this problem, tried to switch wifi mode on my router (WPA2 AES/TKIP, WEP, no security at all) that did not help
Even pinging my router gives me "request timed out"
I wonder can I somehow investigate deeper into this problem to find solution for my problem? Or this bug cannot be resolved?
No any suggestions?
I would suppose that posting at the CM7 post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033654 would be more useful.

Ah yes...
Anyway wifi is a known issue. Doubt posting would do you much good though.
I suppose it is just best for you to wait for it to be fixed. =(
What's your phones MAC addres? It's there in WiFi settongs somewhere chances are its not a real MAC addy and your router doesn't like it, I thought that issue had been resolved just try a different Rom

No
I do not think that my router blocks my phone by mac address as if I use froyo 2.2.2 wifi works perect.
BTW if i use CM7 wifi also ok. I mean connection to my router. Phone receives ip address and this is OK. But internet connection is available only several minutes after flashing the phone. Then I cannot even ping anything from my android terminal
Exactly,
I have wifi issue on my latest 7.2 nightly build, too.
So, it looks like, phone wants to connect to saved connections (wifi status is connecting), but there should be status "searching", and stays on status Disconnected. Pushing Search button, do nothing.
When I delete few saved connections, wifi could do "search", and after that, i can connect!.
I think, there is critical numer of saved connections, when it is riched, then wifi can't do search, and connect to any host.
Try Airplane mode
Hi. For me going to airplane brought wi-fi back to life, and it stayed alive after turning all radios back on. Hope it works for you.
Check you WepKey, It is often that
Hi all,
I have a Galaxy i9000 and it won't connect to wireless. It used to connect just fine, then one day it stopped working. I ignored it for a while (3G still works) and once I finally got around to trying to see what had happened, I could see that the phone does connect to wireless networks (at home and at work), but once it had authenticated to the network, it would fail at "Obtaining IP address from <network name>". There's no error message, but the phone just sits at that stage forever. Not obtaining an IP address makes it pretty hard to connect to a wireless network
I don't know what happened to make this problem occur, it's been about a month now since it happened. I have AdFree installed on the phone, that writes to the hosts file, right? I suspect that it may have been a hosts file update which had caused this problem, but I'm not sure.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may have caused the problem?
Thanks!
what about reflashing your phone?
so you have everything stock
if this doesn't solve the problem then contact a service, or if you have warranty, just send it back...
same problem
The funny thing is is have exactly the SAME PROBLEM ... SINCE the same time?!?!
mybe we got some kind of virus for phones? ... altho i do have anti viral software on the phone. and i didnt upload any kind of stuff on it for at least half a year.
hard rest phone
try resetting your phone to factory default
I am also experiencing similar wifi issue..except I get pass obtaining ip address it's after that I get error message "authenticate problem".??
My brothers works fine connects within second on home wifi, when I connect on same wifi I get error message..I have tried restoring previous wifi data..I have done phone reset too but nothing works
I did some googling and found brief answers not that helpful..but it was mentioned that frequency range I'm trying to connect is incorrect.
"does anyone know how to change wifi frequency mgh our any help"
question
Hello , did anyone solve the problem ? My I9000 wifi problem apeared today. thanks
same "authentication problem"
Well after i flashed custom rom (android 4.0.4 -SmoothieICS-v2) i canĀ“t connect to wifi any more. But mobile data works perfectly.
And before flashing custom rom ,wifi worked jsut fine. phone is Galaxy S Plus I9001 .
I have trouble connecting to WiFi networks (once in 5 iteration) after updating p3100 to ICS 4.0.4. If the problem surfaces, I have to turnoff and turn-on the WiFi couple of times to make it work again.
I have seen this issue consistently with multiple WiFi network with different configurations (WPA, 802.1x, without security).
I am considering downgrading to ICS 4.0.3. Or could this be a hardware issue in my tablet ?
Suggestions please.
My tab 2 (P3100 on 4.0.4 via OTA) have similar behavior sometimes it will connect but other times it just shows connecting until i turn it off and on several times.
But one thing I notice this thing happens when I try to connect to my home router which use 'n' networks while using my mobile 3g router (b/g) it connects easily (that I've tried currently). Does your wifi networks use 802.11n or b/g?
I have the same issue with 4.0.3.I hope it is not hardware related.

My home router supports 'n'. But i have configured it to work only on b&g.
In my case I see this issue with b&g setup as well.
I have been chatting with 3 Samsung agents and none of them are able to fix my tabs, they just want me to fill out the service request form, give me a break,I received the tablets today. What a joke.

I have an interesting find.
Instead of just turning WiFi off and on, if you do 'forget SSID->WiFi off-WiFi on->Connect" there is no connection issue at all and it connects every time without any issue. Which makes me believe that it is a software issue.
I have got another update last week (P3100DDBLF3) and I am disappointed to see the issue exists yet.

Removing the SIM card and doing a factory reset will wipe out this issue.
But then again put your SIM card back and try to connect disconnect your WiFi, There you got the problem again
This looks more like WiFi, GSM-Nework co-existence issue. Samsung .......:cyclops:
I reckon that recently samsung re-deploy 4.0.4 update for gt-p3100 and its variant. Does it still have this issue?
i dont think it is because of the hardware. ive used to had this problem. since ive updated my device to 4.1.1 jelly bean. it works fine. connected to the wifi almost immediately after i push the button
So since I got the Marshmallow update on my Moto G (XT1540) I am unable to connect to the WiFi at work, I have the correct SSID and password and it worked fine on Lollipop, but keep getting "Authentication error" now that I have Marshmallow. I have tried doing a Forget Network and rejoining it and doing a Network Reset in the Backup and Reset settings menu.
Our internal help desk and myself are puzzled by it isn't working... We have a fairly current Ruckus WiFi deployment, using WPA2 and EAS encryption. This WiFi SSID is specifically intended for employee's mobile devices, and no one else has reported any issues, but to our IT staff's knowledge mine is the first Marshmallow device attempting to access the WiFi.
Any thoughts, or any way to track down what the real cause is? Would a logcat show me anything?
BUMP
Anyone else having issues with WiFi since Marshmallow? I only have this issue at this one site, always the same Authentication Error and I know it is not the password (on my company issued iPhone I have deleted and added the WiFi network several times, so the password is correct). Our help desk is stumped. I am assuming this is related to encryption type (TKIP/AES) from the error. This worked fine on Lollipop...

Were you able to resolve? I had no wifi issue until today. I am in the process of changing routers and just installed a Linksys 1900ACS. When connecting my phone to wifi, it gets stuck on "Obtaining IP address". However, when I try to connect to the guest network, there are no issues.
Update: I wanted to keep WEP to avoid changing the settings in all my wifi cameras. But when I changed to WPA2 Personal, all worked. Don't know why WEP did not work as it did with my previous router.

No, we were not able to find a solution other than I connected to the guest network, which oddly is on the same APs, using the same encryption, just a different SSID and passphrase, which works fine. Can't explain it or find a solution, sorry.
