[Q] What would they call the global version of the new DROIDs? - Droid Ultra Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Over here in south east asia, motorola's smartphone market aint that wide as compared to samsung.. However I've been a moto addict ever since the early RAZR V3 days... With my current RAZR XT910 battery giving up on me very soon, I'm hoping that the new Droid MAXX would be rebranded and released to the rest of the world...
But, what would they call it? IF they ever release it?
I'm gonna hold off buying any phones until i've at least heard something about global versions of the new DROIDs...

If it goes worldwide it'd probably just be a Moto MAXX

Verizon and Motorola announced at the time these phones were announced that they had entered into an exclusive contract for Motorola to supply Verizon with DROID branded phones. I suspect that part of that agreement is that the phones are exclusive to Verizon worldwide, though we'll see.
My bet is that the Moto X will be Motorola's international offering.

Why no good Android device for AT&T?

I really like the Droid X and Droid Incredible, but they are not offered for AT&T. The only thing I could find right now that I am interested besides the apple 4G, is the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Any recommendations, or inside news about upcoming models to AT&Ts lineup?
why not buy the phone and get a sim only contract?
Will the Droid X and Incredible work on AT&T's network?
no as far as i know there cdma, we need good gsm based phones, i heard theres some coming this month

Confirmed: Motorola RAZR will be their 1st device with a "Bootloader Unlock solution"

Confirmed: Motorola RAZR will be their 1st device with a "Bootloader Unlock solution"
Confirmed:
Motorola RAZR will be the first Motorola device to come with a ""Bootloader Unlock solution""
...but the option can be removed by operator's request
This means SIM-unlocked WORLD VERISIONS of the RAZR will have the bootloader unlock option, but some carrier (cough*Verizon*cough) phones won't

The reason why I hate american carriers.
At least Motorola is offering a solution, now we just need to get rid of these stupid carriers polices

don't worry:
obvious troll is obvious
good news i think
Hi... I have purchased motorola.. I am quite satisfied with it... Also I want to know about Razr now... How is it?
have preordered @25.10.11 - Depending on the latest news my german version will be unlocked and has no LTE on Board. (you dont need LTE in Germany, cause Tmo and Vodafone are not yet completely LTE ready)
For me its the hottest phone ever... i love steel, glass and kevlar. The galaxy nexus is to plasticlike for me.
Will write a short review when it arrives..
does this mean that only RAZR will have an unlocked bootloader or will all the new motorola handsets have an unlocked bootloader..??and does it in anyway affect the chancesof my Defy getting CM9 (because people have been saying that its difficult to put CM9 on defy because of the locked bootloader)??

It's not out yet, nobody has one. Soon.
Regarding the bootloader, Motorola was talking about the RAZR specifically

Which phone should i choose?

Well, i know that it's a little bit dreamer, but, i'm prepparing me if in one moment, this trade up comes up to Argentina.
I don't think it does, but, dream costs nothing.
In case, if motorola wants to trade me up the phone, which sould i choose? Wich is better?
I was thinking the razr maxx hd, because the battery.
The phones are:
MOTOROLA PHOTON Q
MOTOROLA ELECTRYFY 2
MOTOROLA DROID RAZR MAXX HD
MOTOROLA DROID RAZR M
MOTOROLA DROID RAZR HD
MOTOROLA ATRIX 2
Btw, when you change the phone, you have to pay the two years contract with the carrier?

I thinkg, i might go to 'Droid razr maxx hd'.

[Q] tired of waiting for the nexus.. will this work for me?

I was kind of bummed when Motorola wouldn't release the Maxx HD to Europe, so I`ve waited for the nexus 4..
but now im done waiting. and flirting with the idea of the Maxx HD.. but will this work for me here in Norway/europe?

found out it is compatible with my carrier..
but cant really decide.. can someone please tell me why i should pick this over the nexus 4?
Nexus 4 = no LTE, no microSD slot. If either of these things matter to you, then don't get the Nexus4.
Razr HD international XT925 is probably a better option for you than Verizon's XT926, as the Verizon phone is bootlocked, carrier locked, and doesn't support international LTE bands at all. Currently the Razr Maxx HD is Verizon XT926 only, however the 2500mAH battery in the Razr HD gets me through most days with more than 50% battery remaining.
Hope this helped.

Any word on if Jelly Bean is still on coarse to be released later this month?
Or had it been delayed again...

According to mobilesyrup, "early February" now. Looks like it isn't too far away.

I got my Fido RAZR HD from Canada yesterday - presumably Fido have the same update schedule as Rogers?
Still waiting for a SIM unlock code at the moment, so I can't even use it yet, booo

I'll believe it when it's released. I was told "Late November" when I bought my Razr HD. Slipped nearly 3 months already. I'm expecting March, honestly. I think there's something in Rogers bloatware that isn't transitioning to JB well, and that's the holdup. No other good reason for it to take this long, since other XT925 have JB since Dec.
Hah, yeah you may be right about the bloatware it should be exactly the same as the international version (e.g. Euro models got JB late November), but with slightly different radio firmware...
It is pretty strange and frustrating rolling back from a two year old Nexus S on 4.1.2 to a brand new RHD on 4.0.4!
I know the feeling. My last phone was a Motorola Defy on CMX 4.1.2, and that phone started on Eclair.
Mods, this thread should be moved the Q&A since it isn't development related.
Next, about Rogers; I don't believe that it's their bloatware. I think they have resource problems with carrier testing. All of the updates I've seen issued from Rogers Motorola devices have had build dates months behind then when it was actually released. I wouldn't be suprised if the Rogers JB 4.1 build is dated October 2012. I think Rogers should setup some kind of early testing program for people who want updates on their phones faster, which would allow the user population to do the testing for them. I'm an IT guy and expect some problems with my technology, if I can help the company sort out bugs faster than they can find them I think we would all be a lot happier.
FYI, the Fido and Rogers firmware are the same build. When you put in a Fido SIM card, it removes the Rogers bloat and installs the Fido bloat.
Finally, until anybody has actually used a Verizon branded Motorola device, please don't talk about "bloatware" like it's so bad... We have like 8 apps that we can freeze, you should see what's on some of those VZW phones...
Haha, ok agreed on the Verizon bloatware... let's maybe just call it fluffware or something
Interestingly, when I got my Fido device, I put my T-Mo UK SIM in straight away and it did not prompt me to install crap at startup (i.e. with this).
So afaics, there is no fluffware on my phone!
Sad and annoying to hear about Rogers' testing bottleneck, but one has to wonder why they need to test so extensively anyway (vs. Euro operators for example). I mean, even Verizon beat them to the punch this time, and they have a horrendous rep for delaying firmware updates!
