STABLE version of CM 10.1.3 released today - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 General

had to share to news http://get.cm/?type=stable

Do i still have to install G-APPS?

Yes you still have to install GAPPs. I doubt that'll ever change.

I wonder if this one is still full of bugs like all the nightlies.

Haven't had any problems yet so far.

That's cool. I'm gonna let it play out for a little while before I switch to it. So far it's proved it's no good for day to day operations with all the bugs, but I'm hoping that's all been fixed with the stable release.

No good for day to day operations? I haven't tried out the nightlies, but I tried out the RC2 released about a month ago and haven't had any problems. Not sure what kind of bugs you are talking about.

Really? Maybe it was just me. I tried it for a while and went through a few nightlies, and there was just to many problems. One of the big issues I had was the device not rebooting. Yes I know how to get it to boot up, but it's a total pain. Had another big issue with the gapps package with some of the apps putting a huge drain on the battery. I absolutely love CM. I wish there was a total stable version (which now I guess there is). But for me to use it everyday, especially for work as well, I just can't justify having it with all the issues I had. I also had some issues with reception on the phone.

There is no such thing as a Bug-less CM release, 'Stable' maybe for some people. Will everything work as it should for everybody? not the case.

+1
the RC's are actually more stable for "most", but can still have issues for some.
on Nightlies you can have something working one night and it is changed and not working the next.
they are a WIP
the gapps flashing goes way back to an agreement btwn Cyanogen and Google. Forget details

I guess i do not know how to use tapatalk, did not mean to thank you especially 4 times. Anyways nightlies are not going to be stable.

Stable just means...that it is probably the most stable that cm will ever reach on a specific device...so not much point in waiting it out, I doubt it will get any more stable

Did you flash the 4.2.2 gapps? My KB kept crashing because I flashed the 4.3 gapps by mistake.

I see what I did. PSA: you shouldn't flash things in the middle of the night when you are falling asleep! I flashed cm 10.1.2 and the 4.3 gapps. Whoops! Reflashed 10.1.3 and 4.3 gapps and i'm good to go.

[Q] Is it wise to wait for stable cyanogen mod

Hi,
I've searched but I didn't find this.
I've read that some phones never get a full "stable" release of cyanogen. I am currently running masters voodoo rooted rom but I quite fancy CM. Does it look like there will be a stable version, and does anyone have any idea how far in the future that might be.
Or is the current RC solid as a rock right now, or does it have bugs.
Thanks
Nexus S is a CM officially supported phone, it will certainly get CM7 final. I've been running CM7 RC1 since the day after I got my phone a bit more than a week ago, so far it works quite well and stable.

Thanks for your reply. I'll hang on then. I'd prefer to get the stable version. Any idea how long they think it will take. I've been on cm forum googling, but not getting anywhere.

Rule 1 of CM: Don't ask for ETAs.
Build #11 and above of nightlies are based on Android 2.3.3.
#12 probably seems the most stable. I'm using #13 and its fine for me although people have reported problems.
If you want pure stableness, it'd be RC1 but it is on 2.3.2

RC1 is just a nightly that was the line where they thought it was stable enough to promote. I don't think it's any more or less stable than any other nightly.

RC2 coming tonight.
I had a lot of problems with CM7, but I was running Honity, as well. My experience was one of instability. I switched over to Axura and like it a lot.

I tried Axura last night and didn't like it at all. Also tried cm7 nightly 14 and I wasn't keen on it either. So far I haven't seen anything I like better than masters deodexed 2.3.3, so I'm back on that.

Just out of curiousity, what didn't you like about Axura?
On a more related note, as a flashaholic I've flashed every ROM available for the Nexus S and CM7 is the one I use as my Daily Driver. I'm on RC2 and can't remember the last time I had a random reboot. The other ROMs I have NANDroids of to be able to go between are Stock 2.3.3, Axura, and MIUI (I'm waiting for it to become a little more fleshed out before I really give it a go as a daily driver).

I thought Axura was nice and quick. The thing that made me remove it was the font believe it or not. It looks good in the menus but it was bad for reading emails and other small text.

Did you try flashing a different font or using font changer for root on the market? If that was really your only complaint you can very easily change such things.

Yes he did, but I don't know if he abandoned CM9 completely. The only problem is that work seems to be progressing slowly, at least until Alpha20p1. However, it's really smooth for an "alpha" build.
Well, it did crash for me whenever I made prolonged calls and kept rebooting until I installed Glados 2.8. Now everything seems in order... Might want to try that, if you have problems.

[Q] Most Complete Least Buggy JB ROM?

I've been playing around flashing new ROM's and they all seem to have issues. Does anyone know which JB ROM has the least amount of issues?

That's subjective. If there was one be all and end all least buggy and "best" ROM I imagine we all would be running it.
What I consider an issue may not be that big of a thing at all for you. Some phones play with each ROM a little differently as well and some bugs may affect yours that don't affect mine.
So you are already doing the best thing flashing and seeing what works best for you and with your phone. The OP of each ROM should tell you major issues affecting each: video not working, torch a little wonky, etc. So that will help you whittle it down a little. Other than that welcome to fun of flashing.

Well it doesn't hurt to ask the opinions of others so long as we all realize that they're opinions and not concrete absolute truths. Right now I'm running the LiquidSmooth R8 ROM and anything that uses voice input crashes. This means JP Google Search is borked! Now is this just my issue? Would a re-flash fix it or is it a known issue? Inquiring minds wanna know....

Ive been running CM10 mainly its super smooth and has good battery life. Remics JB rom is really good also
I've never really used voice input, so Im not going to be the greatest help there. Reflashes do clear up some issues, wouldn't hurt. Maybe even a fresh download of the ROM. If you havent already try inquiring in that particular ROMs thread, to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing. Good luck
Edit:
If its google search it may be your gapps, make sure you have the most current.

No I haven't , I once tried CM10 from scott. really an amazing rom but i was having lots of problems, while flashing the gaps,
I was doing may be wrong but i was flashing the right things i know, but well somehow i was not able to flash the rom properly, so I flashed this one , its only been a week, i am on this one.
But yes i will definitely give it a shot.
Is this one a complete daily driver ?
Little bugs doesn't matter(it depends) at all, stock had millions of them.!!
I am on 4.1.2 JB, If Slim bean is coming up with 4.2 I am going to try it for sure
Right now really happy with Liquid Smooth.

Looks quite awesome man!
Surely going to try it in a day or two.

The thing you have to remember about these JB roms on our Infuse is that we are still using a modded GB kernel. Samsung as far as I know (I could be wrong) hasn't released the kernel source code for our device and it's making it very hard for them to update the kernel. I use Scott's CM10 4.2.1 right now and it's basically been bug free. It doesn't even have all the CM source code merged into it yet. I've never had a rom with so much free memory before! I think it's amazing what he is doing with our old device and he deserves MAJOR props and donations for all his efforts!

Yeah its slim bean that I have personally built from source. I really have zero bugs and use it as my daily driver. I mean it has the same bugs as any jb ROM because we all compile from Scotts cm10 build. Its the exact same as CM 10 except with a TON of custom features! I'm currently working on a 4.2.1 version that looks to hopefully be my smoothest yet. Check it out and lemme know what you think

Any increase in performance?
Sorry guys, this is the first time i've ever run an ASOP rom so I can't tell you about 4.2. I was TW since day one. I was fed up being so far behind in updates that I had to try something. Did my research and decided on PA. The differences I have found are mainly app side. More integration and fluidity between apps and tasks. No reboots or any major bugs have come up. I like the stock android feel. I miss the TW camera but I have a feeling a mod will come around for 4.3.

Pac Man opinions

Hi all I have been running Liquid Smooth happily for awhile now and it is very smooth, everything works fine all the time and plenty of custom options as well as Halo, which I really like.
Thinking about making the leap to Pac Man,seduced by the "Have it all" claims.Just looking for some advice and feedback from folks who have used it.
Better to run the 4.2 stable?
What are the 4.3 nightly advantages?
If you are happy with this ROM why?
Any bugs to be aware of?
I see folks posting about mms not working.
Thanks in advance.
