Hello, Everybody!
At our russian fan-club of the Toshiba Portege G900 we have decided to write a petition(like the one to HTC), in which we would like to point out that GoForce 5500 isn't working properly as on G900, as on other devices with this chip because of crappy driver software.
I know that this site is popular among owners of the devices with GoForce 5500, so, please, sign this petition: http://www.petitiononline.com/g900drv/petition.html
Anyway, if you do not use G900, but you are interested in it, sign the petition!
Some links: topic at myg900.com
Thx for your attention!
not again!! TYNT II all over again..
blu3, listen, HTC wasn't boasting ATI Imageon on Qualcomm MSM 7200. But Toshiba G900 is on the list of GoForce-powered devices, so we have all the rights for the drivers.
Also xdaflameusers.com forum started petition for MWg/O2 Xda Flame which have GoForce 5500. If xdadevelopers users support this kind of movements it will be good example to show power of these forums. We spend hundreds of thousands dolars for these devices but lots of us get very poor support individually.
thank you for your support
http://www.petitiononline.com/xdaflame/petition.html
It is funny that Flame users' petition seems very familiar to me
I also ask all flame users to sign G900 petition. If they do so, G900 owners will also sign Flame petition. The more the better!
I ask again all G900 and Flame users to sign both petitions!
We need this drivers.
Looks like HTC have set a precedent...
...if your a large corp. stick a middle finger up at the consumer, they'll still buy the next product in the release chain...

Hello all,
As you all probably know there exists a popular brand in India which manufactures Android devices. It is Micromax Informatics Ltd.
This brand has been consistently rejecting to release kernel sources for any of their android devices which is direct violation of GNU GPL v2. And as a consequence of which we Recognized Contributors have initiated a petition in order to get the sources released so we developers can utilize the full potential of these devices.
I request you all both Indian and Non-Indian members, both Micromax and non-Micromax users to please support us by signing the petition at Change.org

Dear Micromax,
A great device becomes GREAT only when software truly compliments the hardware. We, the development community, are striving very hard to achieve that objective. Many users of Android based Micromax devices want to make the phones released by you truly inspirational and surpass any competition. These powerhouses will achieve its true potential only when the development community get the source code of their kernels
It not only benefits the end user but will also be highly beneficial for Micromax in the long run, as these customers will then get utmost satisfaction with their device and will then help in the word-of-mouth publicity of Micromax products all over the world.
A truly inspirational product is born when it inspires the masses and is able to mesmerize the entire world. With great phones like Micromax A100 and A110, we are witnessing a paradigm shift in the mobile industry and need your little help in making this turning point even more monumental.
Besides this, not releasing the sources is a direct violation of GPLv2. It is mandatory for every brand to release the kernel source code for every device they launch.
We hope we will not be disappointed by a customer centric company like yours. Hoping for a positive response.
Warm regards,
A true Micromax fan

Do I change the petition email to the letter in the first post? Seems like a lot more effective than what I've written as the petition email.
Or maybe because people will be sending them independently via the contact page, I'll just let it be.

Is the kernel source enough for custom ROM development? Why not the entire device tree(excluding proprietary stuff) like Samsung does? (correct me if I'm wrong)

Any reason why it would be in their favor to withhold the sources? I'd like to hope they're doing it for a rational reason.

This also affects One S S4 users because they won't receive updates because of us - S3 users. Petition link will be sent to all major Qualcomm contact e-mail and smartphone portals because no-one likes negative publicity.

What about a petition to forbid petitions on xda...
Why does it matter?
Somehow I doubt 100 people will be enough to convince Qualcomm.
Seeing that 100,000 isn't enough for HTC
I've signed the petition, but let's be honest: Even though this petition has been posted in many forums, it's as productive as a water drop on a hot stone. We can do whatever we want, but when it comes to updates, us, the xda community and other people who want Qualcomm to continue providing sources and the manufacturers to push out further updates, we will never be able to force them to do that.
My 2 cents being said, I also wanted to give kudos to the users who started the petition and shared it with us.

It is not gonna work..
I have been there during the MSM7227 days when Qualcomm dropped support for that chipset since ICS.. We did petitions, emailed qualcomm, spammed their social network pages for months, but they didn't change their decision..
Only hope for you is AOSP based ROMs, which might be slightly unstable but still good as daily drivers...
And, as for Broadcom responding to petition, Qualcomm /= Broadcom.

Whatever... It doesn't need effort much to try. Reached 1000+, now emailing them.
