Flatline - Unbrickable Transformer TF700 - Jellybean edition - Asus Transformer TF700

The AndroidRoot.Mobi Team is proud to present Flatline: Nvflash for TF700 Jellybean!
This release allows generating nvflash blobs for your specific device, making your device unbrickable as long as you have a copy of the blobs.
As a brand new feature, it will also enable wifi and upload a copy of the blob to androidroot's server. Later, a solution will be released to retrieve the blobs from the server if you ever loose them.

For the love of God somebody please confirm this is true. I'm pinching myself trying to make sure this isn't a dream.

Im lost for words...... will test asap. The AndroidRoot.Mobi team are champions

Will this work with the 10.6.1.14.10 bootloader?

Guide says you need to use their modified 10.6.1.14.4 bootloader. I'm just waiting for 1 person I "know" to try this and then I will. I may do it tomorrow anyway...

OK thanks, I didn't notice that little tidbit of information. I'm waiting for someone to confirm this is working. Then I will install.

Ok guys CONFIRMED WORKING! make sure you follow the instructions like your performing heart surgery and you should be fine. (they have made it a lot easier then the ICS method!) and Make 6+ copies of the recommend backups
NOTE: I done it from CROMI-X 5.0.3 which i believe uses 10.6.1.14.10 bootloader. But it should work on any JB bootloader(But dont hold me too it ).

When it finished generating my blobs I tried doing adb pull /tmp/AndroidRoot i get "error: device not found"

what does "adb devices" say?
btw did you try "adb pull /data/media/AndroidRoot"? thats what i used..

Well you most likely dont have an adb driver installed the tf700 universel naked driver contains adb/ fastboot and apx drivers but you have to install them individually. check device manager and manually update the apx driver if its got the yellow triangle. You will have to do the same when you boot into apx mode.
At that point you can probably reboot into android (again im not responsible for any mishaps ) and copy the files over via mtp as you need the blob.bin file stored in /data/media/AndroidRoot to bootstrap nvflash.

Im using ubuntu not windows. If they are just stored on the internal memory then I'll reboot and copy them over to an sd card.
Edit: I have everything working now.

Now I have a new problem with trying to bootstrap into nvflash. When I use my terminal and type in "wheelie --blob blob.bin" i get the error "wheelie: command not found"

You need to download this http://download.androidroot.mobi/nvflash-tools-linux.tar.bz2 and cd into the extracted directory and run that above command to use the wheelie binary.
Make sure the blob.bin you previously generated is in that directory also.

Unfortunately, that error message isn't the best in the world. I'll try and get around to adding a FAQ to cover issues like this...
What it means is that wheelie doesn't have the rights to access the NVflash mode. It can fixed by adding Vendor 0955 to a file similar to '51-android.rules" similar to getting adb working as non-root.
Alternatively, if you run wheelie and nvflash as root it will work. We'll provide a better explanation later.

Alert: Possible stupid question. Now that I'm all nvflash set... I can reflash TWRP and the newest bootloader. Then if I brick, do I have to reflash the custom recovery and bootloader?

[Q] Trouble with fastboot

Hi all,
I had a nice, long, detailed post typed out but then my browser at work crashed, so here is the revised edition:
I recently (three days ago) bought a TF300T tablet. Absolutely love it. As any android fan does, I immediately wanted to root it to get the full benefit of the device. I followed the step-by-step guide on the cyanogenmod wiki and have been successful (after a few hours of figuring things out) in unlocking the device. I am aware at this point that my device is unlocked and my Asus warranty is voided. I am also aware I may have to follow different steps to root it, and am willing to do so accordingly.
I'm not set on using cyanogenmod, but that seems to be the most popular and well-known one so I'd like to use one that is established.
So, up until now I have followed that guide but I am having an issue with flashboot. When I go to do the 'fastboot devices' command, I get nothing. It just jumps to the next line, as if I sent a blank command. When I type 'adb devices' it works fine and shows some letters&numbers so I know my device is recognized.
With all that being said, can anyone advise me on which step I'm doing wrong, if any?
Also, I'm -really- cautious about potentially bricking this thing. I still have 30 days at Best Buy but I'm also an employee there and my co-workers know I'm trying to root so if I brick it, it may not be as easy to return it as with a normal customer. I also have the Accidental Damage & Handling plan so if I DO brick it, I can smash it and get a new one without too much incident, if it comes down to it (which obviously is a LAST resort)
My device is as following:
Asus Transformer Pad TF300T unlocked, firmware .29.
I' have about 15 tabs open in Google Chrome right now after SEARCHing the forums, specifically the TF300 forum, and I'm filtering through all the posts right now. If I find a solution I will post asking for this thread to be deleted.
I'm very tech-savvy, but completely new to android. I don't own a smartphone, and this is my first android device, so this is an incredible learning experience. If anyone feels so kind, could you please explain the different terminiologies used in the rooting scene? I hear stuff about blobs, .build files, DE, WW, US stuff. What's what? And what does it all mean?
Thanks so much, and here's to hoping my computer doesn't crash as soon as I press "post"!!
-Opethfan89
*edit* Forgot to add that when I use the command
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-tf300t.img

the command prompt just stays stuck on "waiting for device", while my device is stuck on "Starting fastboot USB download protocol"
Slight resolution
So I am just posting with a slight update to what I've been trying to get this working. I uninstalled the ADK, all drivers, and started over from scratch. I installed ADB using the method listed on the CyanogenMod wiki, and it works fine (I can use all ADB commands from command prompt and it lists my device when I use the 'adb devices' command.
So I'm continuing to follow the steps on the CyanogenMod wiki page and I get back to the part about Fastboot. I boot into fastboot mode, plug the device in, and the new development is that my computer DOES recognize fastboot only in device manager. I do have a yellow exclamation mark near it meaning I don't have the proper driver installed.
So now my newest question is, how do I install the driver for -just- fastboot, or where can I find the .inf file so I'm able to install it myself?
I'm SO close to rooting this device I can just taste it!! Any device is very much appreciated
Thanks!
Opethfan89
Are you following this guide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1668173
Pretty easy to follow and the easiest way to install recovery and root device.
Yes I have followed that guide and like I said I get to the step where fastboot SHOULD be recognized by my computer but it isn't. It shows up in my device manager with a yellow exclamation point so I literally just need the driver to make things work and I should be rooted.
This thread has the drivers you need: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661653
There are no special fast boot drivers. Just install the Asus drivers, and you'll be good to go.
Also, I know this is off-topic, and I mean no offense to you, but every time I see a thread about driver problems in Windows, I feel a thousand times better about using Linux. No drivers to install. It just works.
Have you tried to see the index on tf300t development?

I think you do need to install android sdk because of the fastboot files are in there and need it to use fastboot that could be the reason why his computer does not recognize the tablet when he is in fastboot mode. If you look at your android manager you will see a file under android tools that fastboot files are installed.

See, I think that's where I messed up. None of the guides say to download ASUS' drivers, and in my anxiousness to root I must have overlooked that step. I will try this today and post my results accordingly!! Also, no offense taken by the linux comment, and I've used linux in the past, but I've had quite a few times where it doesn't "just work" (Like using a broadcom wireless card on my old laptop. I had to learn how to use ndiswrapper and whatnot, not a pleasant experience for a linux newb at that time!!)
I recently removed my Linux partition (was using ubuntu 10.10 because I hate unity!!) and can re-install it if it will make my rooting process easier?

Yea I didn't download the asus pad suite drivers, and I think that is what is causing my issue. I wish I could post links to the guides I am following but none of them specify that. They just say to download the android SDK and all drivers are included.

I did do that, flyingpoo. At one point my cmd line showed "Sending file recovery.img (5***kb)" but the tablet never picked it up, so I know there is just some miscommunication between the tablet and the PC. When I typed adb devices in cmd line, I see the device listed, but when I type fastboot devices in cmd line, it just goes to a blank line.
I will try the above listed solutions and hope that something works. Thank you all so much for your help!
*edit* This guy, right here? Yea, he's freakin ecstatic! I installed the drivers from EndlessDissents' post, and it worked!! As soon as I booted into fastboot mode, my computer recognized the device. I then used the command that FlyingPoo used (which I tried in the past), and it showed:
Code:
c:\recovery1>fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery recovery.img
sending 'recovery' <5306 KB>...
OKAY [2.417s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [2.053s]
finished. total time: 4.473s
So now I'm following the next few steps to root it. I've backed up my apps using Astro as well as the ASUS backup suite, and I'm using CWM for a backup of my entire system at the moment.
Thank you again to everyone who responded. I always get hung up on the simplest step, but once that is overcome everything else is a smooth ride downhill
One last noobish question to ask, and then I think I'll be done:
I've downloaded the root-signed.zip file, as well as the latest CyanogenMod file I could find (The official wiki didn't have one listed for any asus products, for some reason?) as well as a google apps for cyanogenmod. I put the files on my SD card but nothing on there is detected within CWM. So the noobish question is which directory do I need to put the files in for CWM to detect it?
That being said, I'm also wanting to backup my system to my external SD card and I selected the option in CWM to backup but it said no sd\ext was detected. Any thoughts?
Thanks again everyone for your responses.
*EDIT* For anyone following this thread, I did figure it out. Another guide I referenced specifies that you copy the files to the INTERNAL SD card (which is kind of confusing, as SD card explicitly refers to an external memory card) and then choose it from CWM. So for me, I downloaded the files on my computer, copied them to my SD card, put the SD card in my tablet, and copied the files to the root directory of the internal storage on my tablet.
Thanks again everyone, I now have root (at least, I'm pretty sure I do?)
Mod, please feel free to close this thread as necessary.

Wew this thing is harder than i taught, thanks for clearing things up for me.
Ok now another problem adb is running im able to identify that my device is connected by typing adb devices all is good.
The problem now is that when i type adb pull/data/media/AndroidRoot it doesnt work it just list the different adb commands i also tried adb pull /tmp/AndroidRoot from the tutorial but this doesnt work either and i made sure i checked spelling its all good.
Im able to navigate to data/media/AndroidRoot using ES file explorer and the blob.bin file is in there.
So i decided to boot into apx mode and was successful but when i run wheelie.exe from computer the black pop up box (cmd window) just opens for like a sec and closes i think it says specify blob file or something like that. So i copied the blob.bin file from tablet using es explorer and then copied it to my computer where the wheelie.exe file is but still no luck. Im really stressed trying to do this am i doing something wrong?
You don't run wheelie directly.... Put it with your blob file and fastboot, and adb and nvflash than execute it from your terminal. Hope that hleps

Does it connect to fastboot using the universal naked drivers? If so, try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2425581
Nope..... It's was stuck on the Asus loading page all day..... Wouldn't shut down or anything........ It is currently dead battery...... I have connected the charger...... But got no charging light on the power button!
i think im having a similar issue. Charged up my tablet since i havent used it in a while. Went to go into recovery and it wont boot. Stuck on ASUS screen. Im on the old boot loader.for 4.1 and i dont know how to upgrade. I can boot back into the rom and use the tablet etc but no recovery.
Help
I am in the strangest situation.
Apparently while trying to upgrade CM 4.3 I flashed the wrong TWRP and checked closely because I love CWM-R
I have lost fastboot capabilities but with using the "adb reboot bootloader" I can get into android 4.3 (no GAPPS).
With any reboot it takes me to the ASUS screen and then directly to TWRP version 2.6.3.0
However nothing seems to work in there. I have used adb to push file to the tablet and when I hit install from the zip nothing happens even though I saw the file, then it disappears. All except system will not let me format etc. ADB does work and at time the TWRP will let me use ADB Sideload.
The problem is getting to install a new TWRP that works and sees a micro SD card. Also I have installed zip files hundreds of times but everything I see for this all I find are blob and img files to down load and have no idea how to make them install when all explain use of the fastboot. I do not believe I am bricked but it ain't good!
Any help greatly appreciated. The problem is getting to install a new TWRP that works and sees a micro SD card.

Yes I did see that. It was what got me to the adb possibility. However I am not able to fast boot due to the fact that it goes straight to the TWRP on any start. And the TWRP is dysfunctional. My only choice I can see is going to be terminal emulator and I am not sure of its capabilities.

Try to send "adb reboot-bootloader" command from Your PC. Or You can try "reboot bootloader" command in TWRP terminal.
Have done that, "partial brick"

That does work, but the problem is it does not stay. You need to do each time you want to use the table (shut down / reboot etc.). But it does allow me to boot into Android 4.3 but it is only a partial load since GAPPS was never loaded. I can push via ADB but nothing seems to stick! I believe all except /system has a no write or no permission granted. In the Android part (4.3) with Root Explorer I have granted the permissions? It appears that TWRP is both the bootloader (fastboot) and recovery. So any fastboot commands are futile, (waiting for device. I did see somewhere there is an administrative function for fastboot but have not been able to locate in all my readings. Except one persons mention of it to eliminate the waiting for device.
norm883
Partial Brick
If this helps anyone I found in a post:
I used it in Terminal Emulator while in Android 4.3 from (adb reload bootloader)
• # dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 bs=100 count=1
• # dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=16 count=1
• # reboot
This now stops when I reboot or turn off the tablet from going directly to TWRP which basically allows me to do nothing, except pretend to do ADB then on a reboot nothing happened.

Terminal Emulator in Android 4.3
Can anyone tell me where to read on how to use this?
ADB commands seem much different and really need to know how to push from microSD etc and do not setup.
Files I wanted to push I placed in the same folder as the program on the base of C:\ but do not understand how to map here.
I will read and nice to have examples.
Thanks,

To push file to tablet microSD through adb:
tablet booted into android
adb push C:\\some_file /Removable/MicroSD/
tablet booted into TWRP(don't remember path for sure)
adb push C:\\some_file /ext_sdcard/
To get file from tablet internal memory:
adb pull /sdcard/some_file C:\\some_path\
or
adb pull /sdcard/some_file -should put file in directory where cmd now.

All seem to be different say directory does not exists etc Crazy program.
Is it possible that from a corrupt there could be 2 layers here? Because in the recovery mode it tells me that there is not OS installed?
Yet I know I can boot to CM Android 4.3.
Wish I could think of a way to clear and start fresh, but without fastboot I am up the creek.

FIRMWARE - manual flash

hi all
trying to flash manually. have read guides with no success.
have tried renaming the extracted file, saving to sd card, tried flashing the zip in twrp and still no luck.
question - does anyone know the commands to flash the BLOB file?
i found this article BUT want to know if i should be using the same commands.
http://www.androidauthority.com/eee-pad-transformer-prime-ics-9-4-2-13-us-firmware-56714/
Copy the “blob” file into the root of your tablet’s removable microSD card.
Open the Android Terminal Emulator app on your tablet.
In the Terminal Emulator screen, type “su” (without the quotation marks) and press Enter. This will allow root access to Terminal Emulator.
Type the command “dd if=/Removable/MicroSD/blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4” (again, without the quotation marks) and press Enter. The command will take about 5 to 20 minutes to finish.
Reboot your device when the following is displayed in the app:
1068769+1 records in
1068769+1 records out
547210197 bytes transferred in 153.991 secs (3553520 bytes/sec)
As soon as the tablet is rebooted, the update process will automatically kick in.
thanks

yes it's unlocked and i'm running cromi-x 5.4 with hunds extreme tweaks kernel.
i want to flash to the stock firmware (.10) as i'll
1) be bringing it back to asus for a repair job - defective micro sd slot
2) want to flash roms which say i need .10 version bootloader.
i've looked at the manually flashing guides my tf doesnt detect nor does twrp flash it when i try to install.

No you will not need that just the blob ...
So from CMD window opened as admin run this command...
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash system blob
Let it do its thing ....
Once it comes back to command prompt type
Code:
fastboot reboot
Let it boot into new rom with new bootloader and such ..
Thx Josh

thx josh! i followed your instructions and the TF went thru an updating process before booting to the home screen.
i checked the settings and the build says:
"J0P40D.WW_epad-10.6.1.14.10-20130801" so i assume thats all correct now?
QN - do you know where i can get the stock kernel? as i'll be returning it for a repair under warranty i assume i need to restore this too?

For future reference, placing blob in the same folder as fastboot is not required. However you do need the blob folder to be the current folder for your terminal session.

[Q] Help in London

Dear All,
I own a Asus EeePad Transformer TF101 tablet. I have accidentally bricked my tablet (wiped out the Android operating system) whilst attempted to upgrade to Android 4.4.
I have contacted various IT Repair services, but they have been unable to repair the tablet. It is regrettable that the tablet cannot currently be repaired because it is a lovely machine.
Please could you let me know if there are any Android experts who can help me? Your support is much appreciated.
Best,
Stephen Tang

Yes, I've tried another SD card and tried reformatting in different ways too (e.g. FAT and FAT32) but no luck

Ok so there might be a problem with the sdcard reader or maybe with the recovery. But anyway you should be able to use adb to push a rom to your transformer when booted in recovery mode.

I've tried Easyflasher and other things but no luck. The recovery won't mount the SD card.
I haven't tried adb - apparently it's very complicated to do and I'm not exactly the most technically gifted person!

I've read the instructions on a Forum here. I'm not confident about using adb so if you have easy to follow instructions it's much appreciated

Even easier you could use adb to push the newest twrp and use the built-in MTP function so you could see your tablet as a Storage device on windows, then drag and drop a rom to your internal storage and flash it.
So make sure you have all you drivers installed for the tf101 on your computer
download and install "minimal adb and fastboot"
download twrp 2.8.1.1 and save it in the same folder where you have installed minimal adb and fastboot"
Boot your phone in CWM recovery
In the folder where you have installed minimal adb and fastboot, hold left SHIFT and right click a blank space in that folder, select "open a command prompt here".
in the command prompt, type:
Code:
adb devices
you should see an output like this
Code:
List of devices attached
(your tf101 serial number) recovery
If yes then proceed with the next step, if no, post back here.
in the command prompt, type this:
Code:
adb push signed_twrp-2.8.1.1_tf101.zip /sdcard
and wait for the output, something like
Code:
1330 KB/s (5215688 bytes in 3.828s)
then in cwm, select "install zip from sdcard" and navigate to find "signed_twrp-2.8.1.1_tf101.zip" and install it.
then power off your tablet and reboot in recovery mode again, but this time you should boot in TWRP 2.8.1.1
when booted in recovery (TWRP) You should see your tablet as a storage device in windows, so all you need to do from there is to drag n drop a rom like this one to your device in windows and install it using twrp.

Well all you need to do is to push a rom to your tablet using adb, which should be done when booted in recovery mode. Don't even need to use an sdcard. I don't have any other ideas except finding another IT or a friend that know how to use ADB. Or you could send it to me but im near Montreal so I don't think it will worth it vs shipping cost.
Btw im using this method to flash roms on my gf's transformer without issue (the sd card port is damaged so I can't use sd cards)
Thanks for the prompt response. So the Repair Man should follow through steps 1-7. What happens at Step 8? Is this where he would push a ROM to the tablet using ADB - instead of using CWM?
