[APP][3.1+] Pie Control V1.4.2 - Major Update! [Update: 27/2/14] - Android Apps and Games

Pie Control
Ohai Pie!
First things first. This is not Paranoid Android's Pie.
What is this app?
An app like Paranoid Android's Pie feature with a lot of functions and features.
What this isn't?
This is not real Pie feature of PA.
Why is root needed?
Root is needed for some functions. Although some functions can be used without root, I did not allow it as people would ask why the other features do not work.

I have lost the key for my previous app. Hence it cannot be updated anymore. All future updates will be added to the new Pie Control app. Get the market version of this to stay up to date with all updates and to donate to me.

This will never go full paid.

A simple notice to ROM devs.
Please do not put this in your ROM without my permission. If you do so, it may be considered as warez as it is paid on Play Store.
If you want to add this, just post a link in your thread to here for people to get it separately.
This would help me keep the download count as well as fix bugs or add features according to what users want.
Please do not kang this. There's a reason I made this free for you all.

Never noticed it. I'll take a look.
Edit: Just saw. It gets rechecked after closing the app, but it won't trigger the Pie. It will work as it is supposed to from only 1 side. I'll take a look into the false rechecking though.
Thanks for reporting.

Thanks Buddy.
I will add this app to my rom..

Good work, dude!
This will surely have better performance than the paranoid pie menu version as the characters don't have to be rotated.
Dude, please don't do that, I think we should add a link to his thread instead.
The Dev mentioned it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2454531#post45826876
But perhaps I got it wrong?
Got it wrong realized you don t use it for your own custom ROM sorry dude.

Nice! To clear up some thoughts of mine, Is this rom based off of CM or is it fully built from original AOSP source?

Being this was previously a Nexus only ROM we had to sprinkle some CM and AOKP elements to make it work for us.

Bump. Any thoughts on this? Also, is it possible to customize the navbar buttons? It would be nice to have the stock appearance with Google's back, home and recents icons rather than Moto's. These are just minor things in an overall awesome ROM. Thanks in advance for any info!
I have experienced a lot of FC's and screen flickering. I am using the latest KTOONEZ 5/29 kernel with this build
Just a quick question. The OP says that Bluetooth MAP is functioning on this ROM. Is that still the case? Seems that there has been some difficulty with MAP since google borked up bluetooth with 4.2.2. I've yet to find a non-TW ROM that properly supports MAP I have a Ford and when MAP works properly the system will actually read my text messages to me. It's not a critical feature but it is quite convenient. Any info offered would be great.
Thanks,
Ray

Vibify aims to inform you for any pending notifications on your phone. To do that, Vibify does a very small vibration when you pick up your phone. Vibify works only if your phone remains locked and still, saving up as much battery as possible. Select the applications you want to be supported by Vibify and enjoy.
A similar feature is available on some Samsung devices called "Smart Alert", but Vibify offers you even more options and customization.
Thanks for downloading.

Hey this seems a great app. I always liked the "Smart Alert" feature by Samsung. Keep it up! unfortunately I have no knowledge on graphic design so I can not help you with the logo
Good luck
Hey could you make it like Acdisplay + Music menu on the screen.
No screenshot to show us how it looks when one picks up their device to see the notification? You do realize you're competing with well-established apps on the Play Store like Peek & AcDisplay. Grats on the front page recognition, however you offer nothing to interest me. I'm adding this constructive criticism so your app won't get buried in the forum with no recognition like so many others.
Does it use wakelock or it needs special kernel?
Sorry for this Q but it is importand due to battery life.
Hi developer, could you include HTC "Messages" and "WeChat" too?
Thanks in advance..
When it comes to icon...

Your critisism is more that welcome. Thank you a lot. You are right about the lack of features compering to those apps, but that's why I post it here. XDA community is really great and I know you can all help me with your ideas and thoughts. Thanks again :highfive:

Does it use wakelock or it needs special kernel?
Sorry for this Q but it is importand due to battery life.

It doesn't require any special kernel. It uses wakelocks but acquires and releases in a way so not to tear off your battery. But of course if you leave your phone with a missed notification still many hours it will drain some battery.

Yes I will, but I am also planning to include an in-app way to add your own applications to the support list.

Unfortunately Android prior than 4.3 doesn't support natively detecting notifications. So no plans for backward compatibility right now.
Cheers
Great app, working good! Can you make a lockscreen? Like peek.
I like it. A lot.
About the only thing I can suggest is multiple vibration options. That and maybe an option to set "low battery" parameters.
Nice work!
Hay man just downloaded and installed and I love it small easy to use and works great keep up the good work. Can't wait to see what you put in the new update.
Only thing missing for me is native sms support

I will look into that maybe later. Right now my cause is not to copy an already well established app but to bring some new functionallity that is missing from out there. But I am not saying that a lackscreen layout is out of my plans. Thanks

Great suggestions. I will try to keep this very easy to use interface but to add some more parameters. I am working on it. Thanks

Synopsis
Okay so I am working on an app based pie that doesn't require root. It uses accessibility services to manage itself. Please don't tell me how we have so many variants of pie, if you are not a fan just move on. My long term goal is to diverge from what current variants have. I created this due to the shutdown nature of the new pie for PA 4+. I have yet to implement a lot of features. I am just throwing this out there to get both ideas and bug reports. Suggestions and requests are welcome but I promise nothing.
Current Features
Code:
- pie controls
- custom coloring
- autostart
- works in landscape and portrait
- system wide function (minus lockscreen and notification panel)
- pie custom sizing
- trigger area custom sizing (width and height)
- cm11 theme support (pulls navbar icons from the system now)
Goals (not promises)
Code:
- gravity other than bottom
- clock
- notifications
- google now/search access
- [STRIKE]custom sizing[/STRIKE] DONE
- animations
- notifications and quick toggle access (like in 4.3 version of pie)
- [STRIKE]themeable (via cm11)[/STRIKE] DONE
- per app coloring
- appstore support
- icon and slicker UI (I could use help with icon)
Bugs
Code:
- having pie up while screen lock requires reboot to end
- occasional pie gets stuck (reboot will fix)
Downloads
Code:
[URL="http://bit.ly/1jIg0xT"]Version 0.0.4a[/URL]
[URL="http://bit.ly/T0MRH8"]Version 0.0.3a[/URL]

[URL="https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxTrKYFvIq0JaklXYTJQOEd6bE0/edit?usp=sharing"]Version 0.0.1a[/URL]
Changelog
Code:
Version 0.0.4
- recoding of detection code to boost performance
- support for sound (not integrated yet)
Version 0.0.3
- quick fix to bug introduced in 0.0.2 where landscape pie wouldn't work
Version 0.0.2
- slight redesign (added gap between buttons)
- recoded pretty much everything, the old code was ugly and not modular
in order to the most basic things I would have to do a lot of coding and
going forward that is not good
- custom pie sizing, you can now choose small, medium, large
- custom trigger sizing, increase the size of the trigger if you find it too
small the only problem with this is accidental hits will be more common.
I added this last second so you need to reboot to apply (I will fix this in
the next update)
- CM11 and custom firmware theme support. It now pulls your navbar buttons
from your systemUI so it will look like your CM11 theme or touchwiz or sense
Version 0.0.1
- initial release
How to Use
Turns out a few people were confused on how to use this. Swipe up from the bottom to activate, go over the button you want to use and then release on it.

Yeah that's the goal. The only thing I would add root for is for people to hide their navbar if they have one. Otherwise all the functions I have in the app will go without root
Okay so apparently this doesnt work well with xposed enabled. Its works but its a hit and miss. Like some times registers it other times it activates google now. I will give it another try with xposed disabled.
And one more thing it doesnt seem to work in landscape. Dont know why but I shall check.
The customization features do work and they are pretty good. Simple yet powerful.
I shall keep messing around with it for more time.
EDIT:- On second try. I tried it on my note 2 and it works perfectly I think the only problem I am having is becuz main device has on screen navigation bar that's why. So if u have hardware keys u will be all right. On screen buttons might need some work.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes this is meant to replace navbar (on screen buttons). If you use gravitybox or a variety of other stuff you can hide the navbar.
Thanks again and I am working on a big update so stay tuned.
And for landscape it always puts it on the bottom of the phone so in landscape it will be on the long side down. Try that.
Subscribed, will keep an eye on this project as I'm a big fan of pie navigation.
You got featured http://www.xda-developers.com/android/dbpie-brings-pie-controls-to-non-rooted-users/
I'll give this a try. looks good.
I cant use it. Im on a Galaxy s5 and the Service it's eneabled but i cant fin the way to show the controls

Same issue with me. I tried it on Moto e 4.4.2 (not rooted). it doesnt have hard buttons. well i'll try a reboot i guess. but apart from "enabl/disable service" and "color" options. no other option works in settings. you probably have not made them available yet i guess since its alpha. but just reporting.
EDIT: After reboot got toast message that DBPie auto started" But nothing else happened.
Sounds interesting
This app sounds great, specially that you don't need root. But i almost don't see the purpose, at least for me because if my phone is non rooted this app would work (which at the moment it is not, have it enable but nothing happens) but to remove my on screen nav buttons i would need to be rooted. Unless I'm missing something, I've never found a way to permanently remove the nav buttons (and have the keyboard work) without having to be rooted, which at that point I would just use lmt. I look forward to the app progressing but would like a way to give the nav bar within this app and not need root. Thanks
Same problem as stated above. I have nexus 5 running 4.4.4
Well I guess apologies. Its working alright. But hard to make it appear. The space to enable it for devices having onscreen keys is bit too small ..
Have to touch edge of top border of existing onscreen keys to make it appear
Here is ss

What is the icon pack you are using?
If this would completely replace the onscreen buttons on my Moto G I would pay for the app instantly. I think the constant onscreen buttons are a waste of screen.
Can you please tell me which CM11 theme and icon pack you use? Those Settings look so gorgeous! <3

It's called flux, it's one of my favorites. It's a cm11 theme so you need a custom ROM (I use Paranoid Android)

[App][5/23] Ivy (Sidebar Launcher, Widgets, Rss feed, and more)

Introducing Ivy:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",

"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Ivy does what no other sidebar launcher does. Ivy provides more than just quick access to your next app. Ivy provides a comfortable place to spend time in between apps. Your home away from the home screen. The quick panel provides snippets of valuable information to give you glimpses of the things you need to know without the need to go to another app. Stay up on news or stocks without every needing to launch a specific app, or get the information you need from widgets without the need to go all the way to the home screen. The info you need is just a swipe away.
Features:
- Unlimited apps / shortcuts in the App Ribbon
- Unlimited Widgets in the Widget Drawer
- Unlimited RSS Feeds in the Rss Crawl
- Fully customizable

Actually yes. We have a few ideas about what to add next, but a Contacts panel was high on the list. We look forward to hearing more from the users and letting that data drive future development. In the mean time you can add contacts as shortcuts to the main ribbon. Thanks for the post.
Just downloaded from the Playstore unfortunatly it is crashing when you open the app (I have sent you a report through the app) Galaxy S7 Edge...Many thanks.

I pushed an update to the play store that should fix the crash on launch. The widget issue will require more attention. I stopped the crash, but adding widgets will still fail on affected devices. I believe it is related to the custom ROM. If you are seeing the unavailable message, please let me know what ROM you are running.
V1.0.2 is live in the store. Please download and notify me of issues.

Hey everyone just a heads up, we've created a team account @StingerSolutionsDev. We will be posting from it until it has the min posts to create a new project, then we will likely be migrating to a new thread. In the mean time know if it comes from @StingerSolutionsDev it's OP.
We noticed a few custom RSS feeds were having trouble. We've just pushed V1.0.3 to the store to fix those issues. Thanks for using Ivy!
Ivy is trending on Google Play! Thanks, let's keep the downloads coming!
