Hi,
I'm wandering why when i install a specific app, it doesn't appear in the application list. It doest that with just one app.
I can uninstall the app in the uninstall list, but the shortcut is not present in the normal list.
Is there a way to add it?
I already tried to uninstall the app, reboot and reinstall but same thing.
Thanks
Which app is it?
Maybe it's something like Adobe AIR which doesn't appear in the app list.

If it's a widget, it may very well not appear in the applications list. to use it, you will have to long press on the home screen and add the widget there.
It's for the app "pages jaunes", french phone directory, it's not a widget, really weird
Guys,
Could someone tell me how do I back up my homescreen settings via titanium backup???? For all the 7 screens....
most of the answers I have seen on google concerning this suggest mybackup pro.
This http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284364 suggests that T.B. will not backup the widget layout but will backup the widget applications themselves.
Nothing under the T.B. description in the marketplace suggest that you can backup the homscreen either.
Only thing I found is when u choose to do back up of applications and system data there is "HTC Homescreen" in green on the screenshot below. It is in polish but you should find out which one it is. Not sure is this works.

+1... i tried the same thing earlier... but doesnt seems to be working for me....maybe i am not using it properly
Hey guys, I modified the new 3.4.6 market to be fixed at 240 DPI, for people who use unstandard DPIs and want to use the market properly.
Seems to work for me, but I haven't tested much, so install at your own risk, and always make proper backups.
Edit: def seems to work for me. A bunch of apps asked to update with this market, I remember that not happening with the standard market
Here's how I did it for those who are curious
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20624277&postcount=13
Push it into system/app, giving it correct permissions, and clear market data before running market.

Enjoy.
Hi!
I tested your vending.apk. But dosn't work. I use 192 dpi.
My phone sg2, with Bezke Aokp rom.
Put the file system/app, wipe app data. Don't work. Make cache and dalvik wipe, but nothing happen.
Did you change permissions? Use root explorer and hold press on the file, then select permissions. You will see a 3x3 grid of squares, make sure the 3 to the left are checked, and the top square in the middle is checked. All other squares in the grid must be empty. Also I'm not sure if this is nessecary but I've had issues with it appearing if you don't change owner as well. To do so, hold press on the market(root explorer again), and go to the bottom and select change owner. Switch both options to 0-root. Then reboot.
I referred to the following sites.

Thanks a lot...now it's much better...
The modded Google play apk works well for me.... No incompatibility issues at all..
Hey, thanks for this man It works I think.
I just used it
Hm do movies show up for you guys because I am not seeing that option.

I followed all these steps and I still don't see it in the app drawer Am I missing something here? You don't have to install it after putting in /system/app do you? I thought it would just show up after reboot....?
I believe that is a separate apk. Don't know if dpi affects compatibility on that. Look around for Google play music apk.
here you are http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1533862
So, I can see movies from the apk that I uploaded just fine. You cannot rent movies from the standard app if you are rooted though, so you will have to get the app for root users from the link that i posted.
@RubenRybnik
Then you did not follow them properly.
You must take the apk, copy to /system/app, change permissions, change owner and reboot. then when you boot in, clear data for the market. but it will be there when you reboot.
Also, I tried to do this for the new 3.4.7 version, but I got incompatibility messages on the google play apps from the market. I'll try again tomorrow, but I'm only following a guide myself, so if it doesn't work, I've got no idea.
AFAIK the only new thing in 3.4.7 is compatibility for motorola devices. if there's anything else i would like to know

The issue is I don't see market, google play or any other icon for the app after putting in /system/app, changing permissions, changing owner and rebooting ... I tried clearing cache/delvik cache, rebooting, but how do you clear market data when you don't see the app after reboot? I did everything the instructions stated...
When you clear market cache is not relevant, just that it is done before you start using the market, cause the old cache will screw with things. So clearing it before copying the file will work as well. Also some people have mentioned that deleting the original vending apk before copying a new one works better. Try that?

I got then icon to show( app to install ) via 'adb install vendor.apk', however the app opens( most times ) I can search, but when I go to download it FCs... I can't seem to get around FCs in Google Play no matter what I try ... desperate at this point, anything else I should try? Or just start my ROM from scratch you think?

Change permission and everything ok.

Could not get it to work on a rom that came with new googleplay.
Put Vending.apk in system/app set permissions and owner. Renamed googleplay, then deleted the update from data/app and cleared the dalvik cache. Result is no market anywhere.
Getting issues with it now. Worked fine initially. I have no idea what's wrong.
When I clicked my apps in the market, it said no connection even though the internet was fine. I cleared data and that problem went away
Now however, the market is refusing to download anything. It just says Downloading... and nothing happens.
EDIT: Working fine now. Dunno what the problem is :s
Bad news... new version 3.4.7. If yo haven't removed marketupdate.apk this mod will no longer work...

First try didn't work, after two reboots second try finally works now on 182dpi , only app not available is es file explorer. Thx for your work!
Its being screwy for me too. Sometimes I'll have movies, sometimes I won't. It shows some apps as incompatible but not others. And I can't even install an apk for the unsupported apps, I've had to push them to data/app. Looks like there needs to be something else done to this market.

You gotta find the one that's listed in all capital letters.
Seriously tho, kill the caps lock when you're posting please.
I'm not 100% sure but I believe restoring the "TouchWiz Home" should get your home screens back.

I believe the poster above is correct. Or you can just install a launcher like Nova that allows you to backup/restore your screens.

Do a restore all missing apps and data from the "batch" menu and you should be good to go. Widgets will have to be re-setup though no matter how you restore.
Not true about widget restore. Make a backup, under system, of application widgets along with everything else you need want backed up. Wipe and flash. Do your full restore of all your backups. Then while still in titanium backup choose application widgets individually and choose restore. Then do a hot boot. On Synergy that option is in the restart menu, or you can use the titanium reboot option. By doing that I get full widget restore. Read this solution searching google for restore android widgets.

Oh cool i will check that out
After looking into this I can't for the life on find any "application widgets" option and I'm not sure what you mean by "under system". Is googled it and it pretty much says the same but I have no option to backup widgets anywhere that I can find.
Can you clarify please?
Go into filters. Choose filter by type: system. Leave the rest as all. Press the check box. You will see everything that is a system app and setting. Application widgets will be there with a green color.
You can also leave everything as all in filter types to see everything. Just make sure to not have anything selected on the labels section.

:good: Thanks, that worked!
Ok.. So here's the issue. I'm using Nova Prime.(This might not matter which launcher you use) And I noticed that if I uninstall Nova and use the stock launcher again, it shows shortcuts of things I have downloaded. Problem is most of these I already uninstalled while using Nova. But they still show on stock launcher. Is there a way to stop the Note from creating a shortcut icon on the home page so this doesn't happen? I really don't want to keep using a different home launcher knowing that in the background it will be creating home page shortcuts on the stock launcher. As I said when this happens they are present even If I uninstall the app while using a different home launcher..
Am curious to see if anyone else can recreate this issue. To do so, install something from the play store while using a different home launcher(Nova would be best since its what i'm using) and make sure to set Nova or whatever you are using to default then uninstall the app and uninstall the launcher. You should now see the app icon shortcut still present on the stock launcher and when you press it it says app not found or something.
Anyway thanks . Keep in mind if you uninstall your preferred launcher you will loose your settings so do it only if you want to. Either way I hope there is a way to stop our tab from creating "desktop shortcuts" in the background of other launchers:silly:
i think u can disable "create shortcut in desktop" in play store's settings

Auto add widgets is the one, if you uncheck it there will be no more shortcuts on homescreen when you download from playstore.
