[Q] How to create a shortcut in the application list - HTC Sensation

Hi,
I'm wandering why when i install a specific app, it doesn't appear in the application list. It doest that with just one app.
I can uninstall the app in the uninstall list, but the shortcut is not present in the normal list.
Is there a way to add it?
I already tried to uninstall the app, reboot and reinstall but same thing.
Thanks

Which app is it?
Maybe it's something like Adobe AIR which doesn't appear in the app list.

If it's a widget, it may very well not appear in the applications list. to use it, you will have to long press on the home screen and add the widget there.

It's for the app "pages jaunes", french phone directory, it's not a widget, really weird

Home Launcher Replacement Issue

Ok.. So here's the issue. I'm using Nova Prime.(This might not matter which launcher you use) And I noticed that if I uninstall Nova and use the stock launcher again, it shows shortcuts of things I have downloaded. Problem is most of these I already uninstalled while using Nova. But they still show on stock launcher. Is there a way to stop the Note from creating a shortcut icon on the home page so this doesn't happen? I really don't want to keep using a different home launcher knowing that in the background it will be creating home page shortcuts on the stock launcher. As I said when this happens they are present even If I uninstall the app while using a different home launcher..
Am curious to see if anyone else can recreate this issue. To do so, install something from the play store while using a different home launcher(Nova would be best since its what i'm using) and make sure to set Nova or whatever you are using to default then uninstall the app and uninstall the launcher. You should now see the app icon shortcut still present on the stock launcher and when you press it it says app not found or something.
Anyway thanks . Keep in mind if you uninstall your preferred launcher you will loose your settings so do it only if you want to. Either way I hope there is a way to stop our tab from creating "desktop shortcuts" in the background of other launchers:silly:
i think u can disable "create shortcut in desktop" in play store's settings

Auto add widgets is the one, if you uncheck it there will be no more shortcuts on homescreen when you download from playstore.

In Titanium backup, backup/restore tab, find the app. When you select it with TiBu one of the items is run the app. See what happens.
You might restore the app from a previous backup or import a .TiBu from another device. Downloading Gapps might also get you the app. It it's running properly but you still don't have an icon, you might get AnyCut from Playstore and you will be able to make a shortcut to the app.

[GUIDE]Setup a permanent beautiful Samsung-like replacement for ur default lockscreen

Hi everybody.
Today I present here a Samsung s3 like lockscreen replacement which will actually replace your default lockscreen and you'll never need to launch that app after a reboot to activate it (I know its too annoying :-\ )
HERE I WANT TO MENTION THAT I HAVEN'T CREATED THIS APP. I'M ONLY SHARING IT HERE
This, let me tell u, is the BEST lockscreen out there to get you rid of that default one. Also this doesn't consume your ram as go locker and others do so you won't sacrifice performance for beauty. What else could you want !!!!
Here's how to go about it :-
1. Download the apk file from the attachments.
2. Install the apk as a system app (IF U DONT KNOW HOW TO then first install it as user app and then use titanium backurp to convert it to a system app )
3. After the installation long touch on ur desktop.
4. Choose the following - Shortcuts>Activities>Touch the name "unlock screen">Choose the second activity.
5. Touch the icon that just appeared and first enable the lockscreen.
6. Now choose the Set sceen lock option and choose swipe.
7. Now u can change wallpapers and shortcuts to be shown on the lockscreen as u wish.
Although there aren't many features here but this lockscreen is permanent and will not affect performance at all.
Congrats !!!! You've just set up your phone's lockscreen to be completely like Samsung GS3.
Whenever you want to disable the lockscreen or uninstall the app all u need to for is disable the screen from the settings of the app and then uninstall.
If u have any queries, post them here and I'll answer u as soon as possible.
I have also attached some screenshots for u to see if you're unable to understand anything. Also if you like the app then post it here and rate the thread well. (I can't force you to thank me but if you liked the app then why not )
ENJOY THE BEAUTY.........
DON'T FORGET TO HIT THE THANKS BUTTON IF THIS HELPED YOU
I've installed it as system app but when I long-press my desktop there is no "Activities" option under "shortcuts". :crying:
Edit: I've managed to get it working by downloading a shortcut creator app from the playstore. It's nice but I stick to my default lockscreen because of two things:
1. The app still shows under my running applications consuming around 2-6mb of RAM acceptable but;
2. It does not have notifications for unread sms and missed calls?
Thanks still.

Thanks for trying the app. The problem is that I didn't write the code so I can't really help that shortcut issue. Anyway I'm trying to find a workaround so maybe this'll be fixed soon.

Hi, I just tried giving a missed call to my phone and found that it does show a notification which is a semi-transparent round icon at the centre of the screen. Also u can add a shortcut to the call log app for direct access to missed calls and a message icon for messages.
Hi can you help me again? I uninstalled this app without deactivating it as device administrator, it went well except for a few expected forced closes which was easily resolved by rebooting my device. A few days after I wanted to give this app another shot, installed it as system app but when I try to create a shortcut I only have one activity to choose from that is "settings". It still activates as my locker but I wanted it to be a device administrator again. By not being a device admin my default locker shows up for while during boot-up until the app loads and takes over the lock. When it as installed as a device admin it was instant upon boot. Hope you can help solve my problem which is primarily why doesn't it show up among the device administrator choices anymore?

Hello. This app (being installed as a system app) doesnt need to be a system administrator. Also you can't install an app that has the status of system administrator without disabling it. Therefore I assume that you've missed something in the description. As or the problem of the other locker app taking over, the simplest solution would be to uninstall that app. Post again here if this didn't solve the issue.
Hello, thanks for the reply. After days of having this app as my default lockscreen, my "complaints" are probably not worth it (especially the device administrator thingy ^^). It's working flawlessly, default lock is not showing up anymore. So it stays as my default lockscreen. And by the way there is a missed SMS notification after all. Again thank you! :good:

You should be able to go into Gear Manager, Apps, click on Touchone and then select uninstall.

Hi Swordfish, appreciate your help so far.
In Galaxy Apps>My Apps>touchone .... there is no uninstall option. clicking on the installed button simply download the app again.
Anyone with a clue on how to uninstall?
I just uninstalled it so you are doing it wrong.
Open Gear Manager -> click on Samsung Galaxy Apps -> in the right corner, click on the three dots, -> select My Apps, > - All. Find TouchOne in the list and select it. There is now an Uninstall button.
Uninstall a keyboard is not possible on Gear S2 or S3
Currently, Samsung does not provide any method to uninstall a keyboard from Gear S2 or S3. You just cannot uninstall any keyboard app once you download it. I have tried other keyboards too. I think they design it like this because they don't want you to delete the default Samsung keyboard accidently.

You have to do a soft (or hard) reset to remove the app.
Thanks .. best I test some other keyboard first then.. and do the reset later
I dont understand why everyone is having issues with this. As i posted in post 2 and 4, if you open Galaxy Apps, click on the three dots in the top right, select My Apps, then All. Scroll to the app you want to uninstall and select it (the app not the little arrow). You now see the option to uninstall. I have uninstalled thus app three times so I know it works...
Swordfish
Go to Galaxy Apps>My Apps>touchone ..that's it
I didn't even have to go to my apps: just Galaxy apps, searched for Touch One and there was the uninstall button.

Bcz there is no uninstall button Most probably it is different on Samsung phones - but on non-samsung phone, if you open Galaxy Apps from Gear manager - after opening app there is no uninstall button, only one button that says "installed". And pressing this button will just reinstall app again. So, if you are not owner of Samsung phone - you can delete any app/watchface/whatever only from watch. But keyboards doesn't have any shortcut on smartwatch to use it for uninstall. And gear manager is not offering uninstall functionality in that case. So this is dead end.

How about sdb? If anyone willing to try, you should be able to shell into the watch using sdb, run
Code:
pkgcmd -l
to list all installed packages, than use
Code:
pkgcmd -u -n {package_id}
to uninstall.

Do you mean the application list(aka app drawer) that comes up if you press home button when you are in home? Well, if so, the thing is you can't jump into that screen using an app-id because not a standalone application, it is a part of com.samsung.w-home, which is the main app that shows notifications, widgets, watchface and app drawer.
For how to find app-id's, shell into the watch and run
Code:
pkginfo --listapp
which will show all the app ids and a bunch of information about the apps on the watch. You can also use
Code:
launch_app {app_id}
to test app id.
If you are planing to use these app ids on a commercial watchface, do mind that app id's can change between firmware versions or the app might not be installed on the device, in that case your watchface will probably fail the review process.
BTW com.samsung.app-selector is an app that pops up when you try to open some file but there are more than 1 apps that can open that file. Like when you click on an url in android and if you have both the chrome and the default browser is installed it will popup and ask you which one do you wanna choose to open that url, this is the tizen version of that thing, nothing to do with app drawer.

Thank you so much for a understandable answer!
If someone knows the app I'd for Golfwith's Smart Caddie and MayMyRun I would be forever grateful.
