Hey guys I'm going back to GB. I'm tired of lags, freezes and the headache that JB provide to us. Can anyone tell me any kernel and any launcher that appears like JB? Thanks!

- How can a kernel look like JB? Kernels consists of thousands and thousands of lines of codes.... I don't think it has any UI
- Take a look at this thread for Samsung's JB TouchWiz launcher for GB...
- You can get CoCore 4.1 for GB I think...
- And lastly, why is your JB experience so bad? In my opinion, JB is way faster and better than GB.. the only thing is that it consumes a bit more RAM and Battery than GB....

I expressed myself wrong, I want a kernel for the android and a launcher that seems like pure android (like apex). And the JB keeps freezing, not good for games, video keep freezing and other things like that. I've already tried kernels, mods, CM 10.1 (that I didn't liked) and the majority stuff that people says. None of these is like the performance of GB that has no freezes, lags and the battery it's much better.
Oh yeah and I'm using CoCore 7.6, LQG deodexed, pure performance x, greenify (almost all apps), some tweaks of pimp my rom, settings and status bar like pure android and apex launcher.. Theres no reason to lag and freeze and it keep lagging and freezing! I installed this rom recently (about 2 weeks ago)..
So let me get this straight...
You want to use GB but you also want to make it look like stock JB?
Well unfortunately there isn't much option for GB users... the only kernel you can only use is the CoCore 4.1 kernel NOT "CoCore E" only "CoCore" kernel....
And for stock launcher you need to use Apex only, because Nova is 4.0+ and other alternatives aren't that good....
Stock JB look on GB? Try JetMOD then. You can easily find it in Android Dev section.

I think the reason for all is cocore 7.6: many people have freezes with that version!
Try 6.8, no lag and no freeze at all! Also 8.0 seems working good, but if you want to be sure, try 6.8. I used 6.8 for months, did not have a single freeze or reboot! And I don't have pure performance, greenify, no tweaks, stock launcher.

I came back to gb, because of battery, it was horrible on both cm10.1 and stock jb
When i got to gb, i got surprised!! Everything that you touch is smooth

But, you ll eventually have to go back to stock jb because many of the apps on the playstore are not compatible with Gingerbread.

personally i use cyanogenmod and i think that would be the best one to utilize! a lot of roms are based of cyanogen and for good reason too. cm7 gives you a much better experience than stock GB or modified stock GB. if you are going to install a new rom might as well go with cm 7
Another vote for Cyanogen. Works amazingly well.
Why do you want to stay so close to stock? Stock sucks (as do the other LG-based builds), IMHO.

Yah i like stock because the launcher is alot snappier and i like the black background of the launcher and the 3d waterfall effect. Also the green statusbar icons. It's the little things. IMO Stock GB feels snappier, especially the launcher. If you guys could provide me with some tips to get CM7 snappy and stock looking that'd be awesome. Thanks!
Well you're asking for something that's not possible as of yet. If you want stock gb (2.3.3), there are currently no kernels that will allow you to overclock. If you want to overclock, it's either 2.2, 2.3.4 or 2.3.5. (For now, at least. Not sure if any devs are working on a 2.3.3 kernel or not.)
CM7 is ok, but the lack of ability to control HDMI output and the fact that the HBO Go app doesn't work are big drawbacks for me. I switch back and forth between CM7 and xboarder's rom based on my needs.

I'm noif you create a backup you should be able to switch back and forth between backups.
Overclocking is the realm of the kernel, not the ROM (though kernels are ROM-specific)
faux's is probably the best for OCing, and it runs on CM7 and EaglesBlood. EB is closer to stock, though CM7 is a wonderful, wonderful ROM.
Thanks everyone! I found a better choice. Faux's AOSP ROM. How come no one suggested it haha
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using one of those versions
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app
> ICS is fast in terms of performance, it also have this 3D hardware acceleration, drains battery a bit faster than gb and froyo.. but ICS uses more RAM ans eats more space on system partition unlike GingerBread where in you'll get about 300mb free RAM and 120+ mb free internal memory (google apps included) already. Disadvantages of ICS as for now.. is HQ video play back.
ICS feels much smoother and beautiful than GB, but it's unusable for me because of high RAM usage and HQ video bug
GB is stable and best for our beloved optimus p500 ! Whereas ICS is unstable because of HQ video recording & playback!
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app
yup at the moment GB is at the top with everything working(ignorin minorities)..
Im back to ginger
Enviado desde mi GT-I9100 usando Tapatalk 2
ICS feels smoother, and visually is awesome. But has the issue of the openmax libs.
GB depends on the rom that you use. Its estable and many roms are for daily use.
The question is if you are a uses it only for calling, messaging and sometimes needs a faster loading speed. [ICS].
Or for multimedia. [GB]
Are you talking here about stock GB vs. custom ICS or compairing both custom roms?
I wonder which are adv. and disadv. between stock GB and custom ICS?
Is it better or 'natural' for our device to run on (rooted) stock GB?

Both custom
may i throw in a third option beside ics and gb?
when i got my device i immediatly updated to gingerbread...
was nice, everything worked and it had nice battery...
seeing so many devices on market with ics i also wanted it and i got hephappys cm9...
sometimes crashes but less than on cm7 after gingerbread...
everything worked fine but as already mentioned less sys space...
now when jelly bean is released i searched for a cm 10 for the o1 because it was supposed to run smoother and that stuff..
currently im running cm10 on my phone, the battery life is not best, its ok, and the camera works even with some glitches.
when you can live with those i would really suggest you to try jb cause its MUCH smoother than gb and ics, you have cool new features like the notification system and google now, still not with voice but it is on its way
just my 10 cents

ICS > GB
If you are looking for battery life, stock ROM (GB) is best. But once you flash ICS, then it's hard to go back, really!!
ICS feels much different and intuitive than GB. Though battery drain is a problem with custom ROMs.
I am currently using Hephappy rc-2 prerelease CM9 ROM.
Almost all features works with only new glitches. Waiting for Final release with curiosity!
After using ICS, I feel GB an outdated looking ROM.
So, don't use ICS rom, otherwise you ll never be able to use GB!!

One more thing, Browsing is more than 2x faster on ICS ROMs than GB!!!!

Not true.
Stock ICS keyboard just works.
Now get rid of any ordinary keyboards and get Swype. I use bi-lingual Swype here and it works REALLY smoothly and beautiful.
Use minimal ics keyboard from themes and app section only 1.3 mb.

My favourite: GB 2.3.3 + custom kernel
1. Stock GB 2.3.3 + custom kernel.
2. GB 2.3.7 (CyanogenMod or Oxygen)
3. ICS
Currently I'm running a very light stock rom (bloatware heavily removed) + ta kernel v.1.1 + custom apps that I use frequently (daily) + themed. Everything works fine (including call recording by Sanity), it's quite fast (I use SetCPU: 122-600 in general and 245-748 for the launcher and certain slower apps) and it has an excellent battery life. Those other apps that I use rarely (weekly or more) are installed in a second rom (based on cyanogenmod) that i boot from my sdext partition with multirom manager whenever necessary.
Hi guys, im new in the site as ive bought an atrix 2 yesterday, and i have a few queries regarding the ics update. I havent updated to ics yet.
1) should i download the 10 free ea games before updating or after?
2) how do i use a music file from the sd card as a ringtone?
Welcome Night Wing!
First I would recommend updating to ICS before installing any other apps.
Second, in whatever music app you use, long press on a song and you should get an option to select it as your ringtone.
Welcome to the club. Be sure to read all the stickies mate!
Or you can drop it in the Ringtones folder on your sdcard... reboot, and you should see it in the ringtones selection in Settings.
You might have to trim it down if it's a big audio file.. not sure
Sent from my phone's mind
I updated to ICS (OTA) the day it was released and it was nothing but trouble for me (I have a thread about it). After about a month of dealing with issues AT&T sent me a replacement phone. It's gingerbread and I'm leaving it that way.
That is my personal experience though, I'm sure there are others that have had success or I wouldn't think the update would still be available. If you do update, I'd be very curious to hear about your results.

I wanted to check out cm10 but it still has too many bugs. Other option is Scv7 now. Which 1 is recommended (if other good roms which are stable without bugs, do mention) ?

i'm looking for a rom, which does not skip frames. i mean iphone smoothness. i guess this can be achieved with a JB aosp/aokp + nova launcher, but i was not lucky enough. ive tested initiate your swagger, opensensation 2, paranoid. Maybe someone found the perfect rom + kernel? And i would like to run angry birds on jb, all of mentioned roms do not run the game correctly

Did you try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782009 Go for the 10thDec2012 build. I was having lock screen freezing (while USB charging) issues with the 21stDec2012 build so I reverted to the earlier build.
I had an older version of Angry Birds 2.1.1 which is playing ok on this ROM.
You can download the ROM from http://goo.im/devs/bruce2728
more precisely http://goo.im/devs/bruce2728/cm-10-20121210-bruce2728-pyramid.zip
Make sure you have a nandroid backup of your current setup before flashing.

Have tried. ViperS beats down all other sense roms, s-o-m 1.0.4 is slower even with half of htc stuff removed
I'm using Stock 4.1.2 and except 5ghz wifi isn't working am pretty happy with it.
Do the later custom roms add enough performance enhancements to warrant the effort? For me the 'proper' dpi and tablet layout of stock is highly preferred so any other layout is really not desired.
Thanks.

Wow. I had good reasons to move away from the stock ROM back when I did it. But that was so long ago, I can't remember what they were specifically. I think a lot of people are in that same boat, which is why you aren't getting any responses here.
I would say that if you're happy with the stock ROM, then stick with it! The easiest upgrade you can do is to install an aftermarket launcher, like NovaLauncher or GoLauncher. You'll get a ton of features that will allow you to customize your home screen layout without having to mess with rooting and flashing ROMs and recoveries.
