Only & only Kexec based ROM's can be installed directly on JB official (unofficial leak by wangghost) rest all ROM's are for ICS. I too would like to be clarified regarding the black screen kexec issue has been sorted across all kexec roms??

wait so if I want I can install this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050705 on JB leak 1? I just install BMM and the flash zip and its done? the JBX kernel to fix the kexec issue comes already with the rom or I have to install it manually?

as long as your rooted, yes. install BMM, follow instructions in its thread, and flash ROM.
Black screen issue should be fixed without needing JBX.

porraxenieze, afaik a prerequisite of JBX is to be first on a kexec kernel. I u/s what 'MotoMudder' is saying but I am unsure how jbx plays in a multiboot environment, I mean if for ex if someone has stock unoffficial (official) JB leak on sys 1 and on sys 3 if one installs 4.3 kexec PA or say kexec 4.3 Slimbean & then flashes jbx, what happens??

What I mean to say is in the JBX OP, it mentions before flashing JBX, phone needs to have a kexec ROM installed beforehand & only then jbx can be flashed.

well yea, otherwise you'd be flashing a kernel to a ROM that doesnt support it.
flash ROM, then flash JBX to it.

im not sure if I understand, i mean, the only thing I ever did to my phone is update to the JB leak via rsdlite, and now I only want to flash the paranoid android rom, the JBX kernel I do not want it, but now I dont understand if it is required or not to use the rom and prevent the black screen kexec issue

ah okay did not saw this carefully, so I can install the rom on the jb leak 1, already rooted, just need to install bmm and flash
do i have to do the partition and install on system 3 or can i just install it, dont do the partition and install it on system 1?

I would partition. JB ROM's are far from stable, and never will be without kernel source. Always nice to have a stable Daily driver on your phone to fall back on.

mmm okay i guess, i will see it then, when i do the partition the systems 3 - 6 can only be 1gb max right? that means you only have that much to install on the internal memory? seems low..

So Im ready to go through and flash a ROM finally but I just want to make sure I do things right. I have clockwork mod and have made a backup already. After I download the ROM do they come with different kernels or can I use stock? Also what is a good stable ROM to start with? Id like to get a jellybean one but I have seen one with a lot of bugs still. Any help would be great

9Start with clean rom + clean kernel . This is a good dose to start.
Once you feel comfortable and would like a higher dose
Then move to beans or synergy ..here you can mix and match kernels and roms
Beans comes with imos kernel
Synergy comes with ziggys kernel
Mix and match kernels for your perfect combination
By now you are probably craving a rom with daily updates
Cm10 paranoidandroid AOKP are 3 roms with daily updates
Here youll find imos aosp kernel and kt kernel that go hand in hand with aosp.
By now the first leak of VZW touchwiz jellybean should be hitting the interwebs to take care of any addiction that may ensue. Happy flashing.

yep
So do I flash the .zip of the ROM first then the kernel then reboot? Cause I tried beans but you can use stock kernel with it cause my bootloader isn't unlocked

Just download ezunlock from the market to unlock your bootloader. No reason to keep it locked.

Well I heard if its unlocked then it can brick you if you OTA. Or does the lock button actually re-lock it?

yeah it can, just never accept and OTA and you'll be good. Plus since you want to install custom roms, your going to need custom recovery. These block otas from happening even if it was automatically pushed to your phone.
The lock button does relock it.

If you're going into custom roms there's not really much reason to accept OTA anyway.

almost all custom roms dont allow the pop up about a OTA anyways so you should be clear
Ive used Synergy v1.7, and CleanRom 2.0/CleanKernel 1.0 is way better and smoother than Synergy. Im thinking about upgrading to Beans..but im not sure I want to do that yet till all the bugs are worked out of the different Roms to choose from now.
I am running stock jelly bean rom with air kernel and I want to get back to stock kernel. How would I do that?
Just flash your rom again, no wiping required

Ok so I just flash the last OTA update I had which was the 4.0.4 to 4.1.1 update?
This one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736645
No, you flash the full ROM. Not just the OTA update.
Where is the full jelly bean 4.1.1 rom? Sorry I couldnt find it.
And are you positive this process doesnt wipe that?
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Make sure to grab the correct one. Flash with fastboot. Obviously your bootloader has to be unlocked, which I imagine is already the case.
Nothing should be lost as long as you don't wipe data.
Ah so this is what I have to do?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572307
And yes my bootloader is unlocked.
Btw which kernel do you suppose is the closest to stock kernel? The reason why I want to do this is because I wanted to see just how does the stock kernel compare with air kernel but it seems like it isnt as simple a thing as I thought it would be to go back to stock kernel.
as i know there is no stock kernel standalone instalation package. So the only way to get back to stock kernel is to flash the whole ROM again.
For my purposes showed as the best kernel thalamus kernel.
Thanks for all the info guys. I have one more question just for future information purposes. Do you get an OTA update if you are on custom kernel?

I just re-uploaded the ROM with stock kernel on my thread:

That will reset your kernel to stock. Sorry I don't have a separate kernel zip to flash.

I posted that because the op's information was about as pertinent as my previous post. Rule of thumb, if ya want help, no problem...but atleast give us some information to work with.
What ROM are you trying to boot on? Chances are there are some merges in the new Kernel that will make an older ROM not boot.
Example: I was on CM10 M1. Couldn't boot on any of Faux's new kernels or KT747. Old ROMS didn't have new merges necessary to boot with newer kernels that had them..
or something like that. Solution - update to a newer ROM.

Hi All
I am new to custom roms,so have very little idea about it. I am currently using official JB leakhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2092107) on my Indian Atrix 2( Originally MB865 after the JB Update ME865) I want to update to 4.2, so can anyone please provide me a step by step guideline on how to do it. I want a stable 4.2 with most of the features. Any help is highly appreciated.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
Thanks in advance
I suggest you try a kexec ROM and find out if you can boot it up.
If you get black screen, you gotta go to non kexec ones which have ui tear bug.
So first of all, install bmm from playstore.
Do the edits mentioned in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2115715
MAKE A BACKUP if you want.
Then flash a kexec ROM ( like liquidsmooth, avatar, Aokp etc)
If it doesn't boot up and you get black screen then FORGET about kexec ROMs.
Fxz to stock ics ( just like you flashed jb leak via RSD , but its going to be ics fxz file)
Download non kexec one like PA, PAC or cm10.1 without kexec. Bmm again, edits, flash. Enjoy!
If you don't understand anything, ask before you do it.
You mess up stuff, it's on you.

Finally got paranoiD Android 3.15 running in my phone. Most of the things seems fine, only having a issue which is whenever i keep the lock screen as slide or anything, the screen does not turn on once locked, so always have to keep the screen lock as none.. I am not able to post in the dev forum so if anyone has a solution to it, it will be highly appreciated if the can share it with me.. Thanks
Hey guys although I am not new to xda developers , I have certain doubt's regarding installing jbx kernel , I read the post by d trail and its little above the levels for an amateur . so p.s. help me in giving a guidance to install the kernel. I am using pacman 4.3 in sys1 and mokee 4.4.2 on sys3, he battery drain is too much in mokee gets down by 10% every hour so I want to try the kernel for power optimization....
Ahh... installing JBX kernel, this is an awesome procedure, thanks to AROMA installer, trust me, haha
Commonly we just use BMM to install the JBX.zip like installing a ROM.zip
But there're some exceptions.. for example: we can not flash JBX on non-kexec ROMs because of ICS kernel...
I think guide allready have on the jbx kernel thread

i think you have already installed BMM.
then take mokee 4.4.2 for example,
1. download the latest version of dtrail's kernal, or Shurikkb's (because it is verified that his kernal have better battery life, you can find in dtrail's post)
2. flash it like a ROM, (boot to BMM recovery, switch to system3, then install package from ..., no wipe, no clean)
3. then enjoy, for details, please read in the post

Issues with JBX 3.0
Hello,
I have another question regarding JBX. I am running the latest version of Gummy (M.1-02-19-14), which comes with JBX kernel already integrated. I have read good things about the latest version of JBX (02/27/14 build) and have been trying to install it over the old kernel. The times I manage to load the rom with the new kernel, I have no signal and the phone appears to be unable to recognize my sim card. I have tried unchecking the exposed framework and 10% battery fix in the installer without avail. Any help with installing this latest version of JBX would be greatly appreciated!
Hi, I'm relatively new here, I have many doubts about the JBX kernel. I do not understand the Aroma installer. Is there any option to dial in specific?
I have experienced some problems. Some sensors stopped working.
