Hello guys. I need some assistance.
In an attempt to install a custom ROM (Android_Revolution_HD-One_X_31.2)
1) Followed steps 1-6 the One_X_ATT_All-In-One_Kit_v3.0.1 to unlock the bootloader and installed TWRP recovery.
2) Then used Flash_boot_31.x_0.1 to get the boot.img loaded and upon installation of the ROM the phone just suddenly restarts at about 30% (tried it twice) and after restart is stuck on HTC incredible boot screen.
I can get to the boot loader and also to TWRP recovery. So I decided to use the backup I made before step 2 and the phone just restarts to the boot screen over and over.
Can I get any pointers on what to do?
I want in the end to get it out of loop mode, then S-OFF, and install a custom ROM so upgrade Hboot.
Thanks,

Ok, firstly there is no Android Revolution ROM for Evita, that's for the Endeavor so you're lucky you didn't brick your phone.
Secondly, you're s-on, so when you made the backup of your previous ROM did you backup the boot partition as well? Restoring a system backup will restore the system but if you're s-on you need to flash the boot.img by fastboot.
At this stage you probably need to flash another ROM and flash the boot.img as well.

Where's that disclaimer. It should be in the tittle or something. If it is I can't believe I missed it. Got lucky.

Yes, boot was backed up but still restarts.

Could you please point out which boot.img I could try? I asume ICS as JB requires another hboot and I can't S-off yet.
Thanks.

There's no disclaimer, it isn't needed because that ROM isn't posted in our device forum, it's posted in the Endeavor forum, you have the Evita. As long as you only ever stay within the forum you're posting in now you'll be fine, but don't ever stray from here.
Have you tried flashing the boot.img that was backed up via fastboot after restoring the system backup? You can't just restore the boot backup.
The boot.img must be from the ROM you're trying to flash. I'm not sure what you mean when you say JB requires another hboot, that only applies on certain ROMs. Which ROM backup are you trying to restore exactly?

The TWRP backup files look like this "boot.emmc.win", renamed it to boot.img and flashed via flashboot and it restarted like nothing was wrong. :good:
Now to S-OFF and get a custom ROM. But tomorrow I guess, eyes need rest.
Thanks for the help timmaaa

I'm glad to see you got it working again

Just reflash your unlock code from HTC dev install twrp then flash away

Don't panic, this should be an easy fix.
Once you relock, you have to run a ruu or unlock again. But you're trying to run a ruu for older firmware, which is why it's failing.
Just push the unlock token again, and you should be able to boot to recovery. If not, push the recovery image again. I don't recommend CWM, even though it's been ported to this phone. That version of TWRP should work, just confirm that you've got the Evita version.
OK i have unlocked again and re pushed recovery TWRP 2.4.1.0
But I still cant boot into the recovery option..
PLease tell me what im doing wrong..

I believe through adv but is way simpler to do it through recovery. Try a earlier version of twrp

did you verify you are unlocked now, or did you just assume since you pushed the token again?
Also, are you certain you're using the right version of TWRP and not one for another phone (like the endeavour/Tegra One X)?
I pushed the same token and rebooted the device at the top its now says unlocked

bah, all-in-one don't learn anything without doing it yourself. evita is a pretty easy phone once you learn the basics. the op link for twrp in the dev section lists every twrp version officially released for our phone. http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/evita
ok i loaded that last night before i went to bed I went this morning to look at the phone and now it just goes to a black screen no madder what I do i put it in the computer the computer goes beep now when its plugged in my computer only the red light at the top flashes and then it disconnects from my computer because i can here the beep of adding and removing hard ware.
is my phone now bricked ?

- Unlocked with HTC Dec, therefore it says unlocked as mentioned above
- Installed TWRP v2.5.0.0, and can successfully boot into recovery
Yet to be done and do not know how to:
- S-OFF
- Super CID
- Permanent Root
Problems installing ROM:
- unable to install. Various errors with different roms, such as:
1) unable to mount sdcard
2) assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device")
3) error executing updater binary in zip
Please advise. Thank you for your time.
Note: the device is locked to Rogers. It is currently in bootloop. I do not know what I did but before installing TWRP, the device went in bootloop after unlocking bootloader and it would simply not start. Although, as mentioned I can successfully boot into the recovery and mount the sdcard from there to transfer files to the phone.

Why are you relocked?
Unlock again and update TWRP, then try to flash a ROM again. What ROM(s) are you trying to flash.
Be aware that since you are s-off, you will need to extract boot.img from the ROM you are trying to flash, and manually flash with fastboot. You will need to do this every time you flash a ROM, unless you get s-off.
Also, I don't know why you posted to this old thread. Aside from the OP also having the Rogers version, it has nothing to do with your issue. Should have started your own thread.
I'll just clarify that when Redpoint said you need to update TWRP you should update it to TWRP 2.6, your current version (2.5) is very buggy. Also, he means since you are s-on you need to flash the boot.img, when you get s-off this will no longer be required.

No system, only TWRP with S-on. Major clusterduck!!

Hi all
through a series of stupid actions, I am now in a position where I have TWRP, no working image and S-on. This all stemmed from an attempt to upgrade to CM10.2. Anyway, a lot of reading has led me to the conclusion that I need to go back to a standard RUU in order to set S-off. The problem is my fastboot is 2.15 and I cannot seem to find an RUU anywhere.

If anyone can point me in the right direction for a RUU or a possible way to get S-off through fastboot, I would be eternally grateful. I have already spent around 15 hours trying to sort this out. Needless to say, I have learnt some lessons about reading instructions and making backups.

Did you flash boot.img in fastboot? If you didn't, you should try it first before you attempt to do S-OFF. To get S-OFF, I would use Rumrunner.

I don't know why you want to s-off but i think you don't have to. If you have twrp you can mount your sd via twrp to a computer, copy any rom you want to the sd, flash boot.img with fastboot from the rom zip and flash rom via twrp. But you should first unlock your bootloader

Thanks both for the replies. I have transferring a boot.img using fastboot, but this just gets me into a never ending boot screen. The boot.img I tried were cm 10.1.2 and then a 10.1.3. I had read that this will not work with S-on, but I am far from an expert. I have tried rumrunner, but this needs adb to work, and from what I gather adb only works when the phone itself is also booted into an OS.
I had tried to get adb working, but I never get any response from adb devices as the phone never gets past the bootloader.
I realise that I don't need S-off to flash a stock ROM, but my problem is that can't find a stock ROM for a 2,15 Hboot. My goal is to install CM 10.2.
Regards
Richard
You can not install any boot.img with locked bootloader, you can just ruu back.
If you want to install cm 10.2 unlock your boot loader, download cm10.2, flash boot.img from the downloaded zip and flash cm from recovery. Otherwise you can just ruu back

Hi,
I had tried this, but got into an endless fuzzy blue screen loop. This was because of S-on I believe. I had relocked the bootloader in preparation for an RUU.
I had figured that my best way out of this mess would be to flash a stock ROM, turn S-off and then flash cm

After S-ON system won't boot to OS. Please Help!

Hi guys
I've looked everywhere for a solution. Maybe someone know another post that I might've missed.
My phone won't start, it keeps rebooting to the white HTC screen.
Right, now to the problem. Before this problem I had a custom ROM installed (Carbon 4.3) which was getting a few errors so I decided to restore it with clockworkmod from a previous backup. Now what this did is turned the device to ****Locked**** and S-ON .
So what I did next is use HTCDEV to unlock it. Well that bit worked but it's still S-ON.
Now it shows

I can still go in to Recovery and use the 4EXT recovery Touch (v1.0.0.4 RC3) and i managed to wipe everything including the SD as I already backed it up. After I installed a custom ROM (Blitz 4.0). Everything went well, finished installing successfully. After a reboot the phone won't start to the OS. It keeps looping to the White HTC screen (without even vibrating every time it reboots). So I can install any ROM but can't boot into it.
I even re-partitioned my SD thinking that the mSD was the issue but no luck.
Any particular advice how can I fix this?
Many thanks!

And flash Rom it will work
OR

I've tried the first method (but no luck)
Although second one worked like a charm! :good: Thanks for that. Now my next question is: If I want to install another ROM will it make the same problem? If yes then how do I get the from S-ON to S-OFF? Will the Revolutionary Utility help ,me or mess it up?
Thanks again. :good:

just to know enable smartflash exactly before flashing the rom
and yes you will have to do the same if smartflash fail again
if you want to S-OFF you have to flash stock rom first

The phone actually is soft brick, all I need to do is to flash it back to stock rom, so I can do a S-Off
I have this problem because I attempted to flash cyanogenmod without getting S-Off, thus it end up with black screen boot loop.
Any idea to solve it? I cant find any recovery zip that is working
I wouldn't ruu without S-off. Do you have supercid? If you do, you may brick. Best to boot to bootloader then recovery then flash a sense rom then s-off

There's no such thing as a soft brick, a phone is either bricked or it isn't. Do as exad suggested and flash a Sense ROM then get s-off, then update your firmware (which is probably what was your actual problem).

The CID doesn't show on your bootloader screen unless you have s-off. What are your bootloader details? What recovery do you have installed? You can check your CID with this fastboot command:
Code:

The fact is you don't actually need s-off to flash cyanogenmod. You only need s-off to run the 3.18 RUU which updates your firmware, which you don't need to do because your firmware is fine. This brings me back to the other question you didn't answer: what recovery do you have installed?

The CID doesn't show on your bootloader screen unless you have s-off. What are your bootloader details? What recovery do you have installed? You can check your CID with this fastboot command:
Code:
fastboot oem readcid

I used the command
CID: BS_US001
My recovery is TWRP v2.6.3.0
THis is the only version that is working for me, I tried clockworkmod, and higher or lower version for TWRP, but I cant mount USB storage through any of those except 2.6.3.0
Recovery version please.

You just need to extract the boot.img from the rom you are flashing, put it in your adb/fastboot folder and then after flashing the rom.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then you will be able to boot it.
I suggest getting S-OFF using rumrunner so you don't need to take this step anymore. will also protect you in case you need to RUU.

I know what phone you have. an evita. Says so in your bootloader
You need unofficial 2.6.3 from original android dev. if you want to flash cm as you need SE Linux support.
Any sense rom should work on official twrp 2.6.3
make sure you wipe system cache and dalvik cache prior to flashing.
This is what you should do to rule out every issue.
Download unofficial 2.6.3
Check the Md5 of your download
put it in your fastboot folder
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery unnoficialrecoveryfilename.img
select recovery in bootloader
wipe cache, dalvik, system in wipe, advanced wipe
then do a factory reset for safe measure
flash your rom
wipe cache and dalvik
reboot to bootloader
extract the boot.img from the rom put it in your fastboot folder
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot

Upgrading my hboot???

Hello all, here is my situation.
I recently purchased two used HTC One X phones. After a bit of research, I found out that they are actually the international version, the XL or Evita as they also go by. This is not a problem to me. I struggled getting them to take custom ROMs and I was finally able to get Cyanogenmod 10.0 installed. They are working great as is, however I would like to be able to update further, as there are a couple very minor bugs. Whenever I try to install an update through clockwordmod recovery, I always get a bootloader error. The number is spits out is 2.14, which I know is a never version of hboot. So, my question is, should I update my hboot (currently in 1.14.0002) to 2.14 in order to install newer versions of Cyanogenmod? If so, can you please provide detailed step by step instructions, or link me to a forum that does? Thank you.

Ok, firstly it isn't the hboot you need to update, it's the firmware. It just happens that the firmware contains the hboot, and the hboot version is what's used by the ROM installer to tell whether you've updated or not. First thing you'll need to do is get s-off, that's required for flashing the firmware.

Once you've done that just head to the How-To Guide For Beginners thread in my signature and follow the directions there to update your firmware.
It might be a good idea to bookmark that thread, and also the Evita FAQ thread. The answer to your question is contained within the FAQ thread, which is actually stickied at the top of the section you've just posted in.

Okay, thanks. Yeah I'm aware you can't get boot without a firmware update. Will 2.14 allow me to update to cyanogenmod 11?
Yes it will but getting that firmware requires you to run an RUU, which also requires s-off, and is a lot harder than just flashing the firmware package.

Flashed the right boot.img (somehow had the wrong one) now back in boot loop again. Any ideas? I did have to change my CID because I did not turn on debugging for ADB. Would that have something to do with it?
What are your bootloader details now? What did you change your CID to? And what did that have to do with debugging? What ROM did you flash?

Ok, but what does changing your CID have to do with that? Update your recovery to the latest version and flash a more recent ROM. You no longer need to flash any boot.img when you have s-off.
