I was using my phone with navigation in the van and it got really, really hot. Ive checked around on forum there seems to be a lot of jokes but no answers. I'm running Goodness V10.0.4.1 stock kernel. I unlocked boot-loader and clean installed ROM from full wipe. I really doubt it's a battery problem because i just got the i535 two months ago and i dont really have any other heating issues.
Is it hot where you live? Do you charge your phone while using navigation? Do u leave phone in sunlight?

Yes it is hot but AC on in van and not in direct sunlight it was on my seat. My question is it a kernel issue? It got really, really hot!

Only the Dev can answer that. Best way to find out is to try a different kernel

OK, suggestions? I guess nobody is having this issues with goodness.

You would have better luck asking in the kernel thread. Just ask if anybody has overheating issues.

The negatives depend on who you talk to. Alot have GPS issues along with bad battery life. Also people have been going through signal loss. The good is the screen and with some Roms debloat and optimize it. Once rooted you have alot you can to customize it. Best just to search and see what other people are going through.
Ok I guessing that we don't have miui.us on the charge what's the average battery life on moderate to heavy usage
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
With moderate use, I can get about 12hrs. That's including internet, phone calls. videos and just generally messing with it. I managed to solve the gps problem with faster fix from the market. I now generally lock on in 10 to 20 seconds. The screen is incredible. I truly enjoy watching my videos on it. Enjoy your Charge.

Device issue. I have had a phone replaced because of it and it was not any better. I have tried to use it in several places across the country and it is not any better.

Hmm... cause guys at the verizon store says these stores sell a lot almost as much as the bionic but allot of charges father in law has this phone says he never ran into this issue

I didn't have a proble mwith my original charge but had to swap it out because of other things. The CPO is when I started to have problems.
Not too many problems here except those that are hardware related... all roms I've tried run great, battery life is decent but I do have the infamous 'random data drop' bug and I've had a 4G sim replacement once (probably due to my compulsive flashing lol )

I have all these problems. Have tried everything mentioned on these boards to fix. Nothing really works. All in all, a very mediocre phone for me. Obviously, as you read through these posts, you will get more favorable experiences than mine.

It happens in plano, which is where I live, Dallas, the official market, and all the surrounding areas on 3g and 4g. I live in a full 4/3g coverage area.

I guess I've been extremely lucky. I have had zero data dropping, zero sim issues, and no phone static issues. Sometimes my GPS sucks but can usually fix it through apps. All in all a great phone!

My Skyrocket did this too. Mine is a refurb that I got on the last AT&T $9.99 Refrub deal. Figured it was sent in for this reason. At first I thought was a random shutdown issue, but then I realized it wasn't, when I set it down one time on a hard surface. It didn't take much sometimes.
I found putting a piece of cardstock, maybe two pieces if it will fit, cut down to the same heighth x width of the battery, placed between the bottom of the battery, and the compartment helped out a lot. It still does it once in a while, takes quite a bit more now to replicate it, but nearly not as much as before.
I should have taken it back as soon as I noticed it, but I found my fix to be good enough for a $9.99 Skyrocket.
Hope this helps.
I am currently at 65percent on the stable build with average usage. Texting, and moderate surfing at lunch. (EST)
I've installed Cpu Spy and she is indeed sleeping. I am running 192 mhz on the lowend on conservative governor.
Running Juice defender also.
You will have to try it. If batt life is ur main concern though... I am having good batt life with Embryo 6
Juice defender does more harm then good. Wakelocksssss

BLUF:
You're not going to get any helpful answers posting this kind of thread. Everyone uses their phone differently, so battery life will vary greatly between users.
You're best bet is to use one rom for a week or more, nandroid, then load a different one and use it the same way for the same amount of time and compare your results.
JD defender sucks for some - others love it <- that's just one example of my first statement.
First off juice defend is crap. Just delete it, it's causes wake locks.
For the battery life, you're on your own. It depends on how you use it. Look at roms as see which ones talk about battery life. I know Sean always worked on better battery life in his roms.

Yep, I've already downoaded the Canadian TWRP (since ATT doesn't have one yet) and Slim Bean 4.2.2.
Just waiting on the hack to be released. Dude isn't holding it back for just nothing I'm sure. Prolly is making sure it works consistently on all phones before releasing.
The thing about software hacks... just because it works on one model of phone, doesn't mean it won't break another phone of the SAME model. Stuff like that happens all the time.
Btw, thanks a lot. Now I have three freakin threads on Bootloader that I have to keep refreshing all day.

I have 2 broken screen S3s that I replaced under warranty just sitting here and looked around to find something good to do with them. Here's my list of uses:
1) Battery charger
boring
2) IP Webcam
Brilliant. Using IP Webcam app, an S3 on charge can reliably act as an IP webcam for days without issue. I'm a linux guy, so I use the linux app "motion" to capture images and video for security from these cams, and also a timelapse mpg. Rooting the phone is a good idea as that allows you to run it on a better performance schedule (like on demand) which is fine because it's always plugged in.
3) Flashing ROMS
Just as brilliant as 2. I don't think I would have had the nerve to flash my real phone if I hadn't used / abused / bricked / unbricked the broken phones first.
K
Sell them or flash roms would be the best options. Hell I would by one. Lol

My friend use it for Webradio in the car
If it's tw you can use it with mhl just to run xbmc. You can use yahtze or another remote to run it if the screen is really bad.
I'd turn it into a sPod.
If the screen is broken, fix it, then sell it. Or use it as automation center.
