[MOD][LB]AwesomeBeats Audio - Moto X Themes and Apps

Original thread done by flashallthetime Here I suggest you use this if you have a recovery.
I was originally going to have him post this in his thread, but I think it should be in it's own thread in case there is issues related directly to this method of installing.
Normally this is installed using AromaInstaller. Basically I just quickly looked and broke it down to a installer that would work for the Moto X. You must be booted into WPLess mode. If you are not sure what this is, I suggest you check out the root thread.
Download the attachment below. This will only install the black theme beats audio sorry if you want the white you will have to replace the _black.apk with the white one and rename it to _black.apk or change the script to install the _white one.
It's pretty simple, if your not rooted or you are in wp mode, it wont attempt to install it will just give you a message stating that you are not in correct mode.
Pretty simple all you have to do is run the Install.bat to install and if you wish to remove run the Remover.bat

OK, I'll bite. I'm rooted and cannot get this to install. What is WP mode??

Here's a pretty simple step by step to get you going:
1. Make sure you are rooted. (Follow this thread to make that happen)
2. Download and install Moto X ADB driver on your computer. (You can get it here)
3. Download the Awesome Beat file in the OP and unzip it to your desktop.
4. Reboot you phone into "Recovery" by power down, then hold Vol Down and Power, Use the Vol down to highlight "Recovery" and hit Vol Up to select it. (This will disable you phone's write protection to the system folder).
5. Make sure you've got "Developer Options" (Instructions here)
6. Enable USB Debugging in "Developer Options" menu.
7. Connect phone to computer's USB port.
8. Double click on the Install.bat file on your desktop.
9. listen to much better sounding music.
Hope this helps.
OP did I miss anything?

Awesome! Thank you so much for this. Been using awesome beats for awhile in my other devices and absolutely love the sound.

Has anyone else had trouble getting the EQ to stick? It worked great for a day. And now it doesn't seem to matter which settings I use, I get no difference in audio at all...
It shows everything as enabled, just as I left it. But even if I go in and change the settings I don't get any change in sound.

Sorry I was typing from my phone today didn't see all the typos. The lpadecode and stagefright should be set to false. Then make sure you chose viper4android in the sound settings of the phone. I always have the best bet changing the equalizer and etc. directly from the viper4android app. I been running it all day with no problems.
Also if it still gives problem try Compatibility Mode. Mine works on the normal mode.

I'm wondering if anyone else is having problems with Hangouts Video calls since installing this? I'm getting camera errors in Hangouts and after closing the Hangouts program I get camera cannot initialize errors in the stock camera app. I have to reboot to get my camera back. It took a lot of digging, but I noticed something on a google forum about a similar error for a user who had installed DSPManager. I really don't want to go through the headache of removing Beats. Anyone else experience similar problems?

I was having speaker phone problem with beats. That is why I use viper now.

It seems to work only with Google Play Music. When I run SoundCloud, he stops.
Is there any way to roll back the installation or is there some way to fix it?
Thank you!

I finally got around to removing this and trying Hangouts again. The video conferencing worked like a charm. Clearly something within the EQ didn't agree. Skype worked fine, but Hangouts was a bust. Looks like I'll have to give viper a shot when I get a little free time.

I'm wondering if we cant just remove the "Tetherguard" app from the phone via Titanium. I'm not sure if this is what prevents us from tethering, or the app that phones home... but we might have some luck.
Other than that, can we use other apps that will bypass this?

Unfortunately that didnt work, I just tried.
I uninstalled teatherguard via Ti B/u tried to run my tether app, no luck. Tried to run the factory installed hotspot software and instead of getting denied it just wouldnt turn on. If I went into settings I could make changes and try to turn it on however it would just act as if it was loading and eventually do nothing.
At that time I went ahead and installed barnacle and no luck there either, again it wouldnt deny but it wouldnt boot up either.
Hmmmm
Okay so after playing with the app "WiFi Tether for Root Users, Muller, Lemons, Buxton" I finally got it to work. You will need the app downloaded and installed, go to settings, select profile and select "generic ICS" should be the 3rd option, then hit the menu bar again to select re install binary files.
After that turn on the hot spot and connect with your device!
Actually I'm using the HTC app for tethering!! I did this that a saw on a Vivid ROM thread, I think it was on Dark Raider's..... so I don' deserve any credit, I just want to help because I got my One X yesterday, rooted it and tried it and it works perfectly!!
You'll need SQ Lite Editor:
1) Dialer Storage
2) telephony.db
3) carriers
4) 12 Entitlement 310410
you shoud change the value under "apn" from "broadband" to "pta"
5) Please restart your device and you will get it!!
Enjoy my friends!!!
Thank you for that fix!!!!
I search hih and low for the entitlement check in all the databases. I would have never thought to look in telephony.

So I need to purchase SQLLite Editor? What am I going to edit with it? Where do I get the HTC Tethering app? I also don't understand your 1-4 steps.

It's not for the timid.
find the telephony.db in /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases copy it to /mnt/sdcard
edit it with the sqlite manager of your choice. I used the firefox extension.
Find line 12 and change it from broadband to pta.
copy it back to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases
reboot phone
You'll need root explorer or similar file manager with root access to get to the file and put it back
After that I just added the widget

You're welcome. I googled the file location that took a while. After that it was cake.
the maker of CWM also made a tethering app, it also claims that it's almost non-detectable by carriers since it does it with proxies and works with non-root https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.tether
just another option. If you use ssdroid, this is another tethering method that does it with proxies and also is nondetectable that i am experimenting with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25818971

pretty sure you should use a root file explorer to remove it from system/apps because you have to remove the odex as well as the apk. not saying it will work but it might. since you already removed the apk with titanium you should use a root file explorer and remove the odex file that's probably still there and see if it fixes it. im trying it now and will report back.
I searched like crazy and I can't find what PTA stands for. I know APN stands for Access Point Name. I also found out that PTA is an APN that is only utilized by LTE provisioned accounts.
Phone daTA ???
Personal Telephony Account ???
Phone Terminated Access ???
.....I don't know ....possibilities are endless but the curiosity is driving me nuts. Does anybody know?

Did you guys leave Tetherguard.apk in place when you did this? I get stuck at the "Processing..." toast message when I try to turn the hotspot on now.

[Q] Removing beats audio

I am running Lithium as my rom, which has beats audio installed. This has caused some problems for me, as it lowers audio quality when using poweramp. If you disagree, keep it to yourself and don't tell me I am wrong in this thread. Wow, that just sounded a lot meaner than it was meant to. Anyways, is there any way to remove it completely?

I was looking at that at one time... and I started writing down all of the files that get installed with the mod... but then I got to the /system/etc/ folder and gave up...
If you're feeling motivated, check out the attached zip for everything it installs, and then you could attempt to remove those files... by your method of choice.
NOTE: NO ONE SHOULD ATTEMPT TO FLASH THE ATTACHMENT - sorry for yelling, but it's not a flashable zip, just the system folder from the BeatsAudiob0314.zip for reference...
You should probably cross-reference and take the proper files from a stock ROM you have lying around though, because a few of the files are replaced, like /system/etc/media_profiles.xml and /lib/libreverbwrapper.so & libvisualizer.so (and possibly others?)... In fact, if you do manage to do all of that it would definitely be worth making a "remove beats audio" script/zip
Well, I removed it from the rom after setting it up with rom kitchen. This has worked before, but now it will not flash, I get an error in CWM that says something about status 0 and it aborts the zip install I think that has something to do with the update binary. anyone have any ideas?

Yea, that sounds like an updater-script or update-binary file issue... You could try borrowing the META-INF folder from a different flashable rom...
Or maybe you could remove the necessary files through adb in recovery (or make a script if you can - that's beyond me) and make a smaller update.zip with the files you need to replace. I have much better luck making small flashable zips as opposed to full roms. Either way, good luck! And keep us posted..

Status 0 refers to an issue eighths updater-script. Make sure you have a semicolon at the end of every line, and the line endings are in Linux format if you using windows.

...and a blank line at the bottom of the script..
Another thought... don't know how well it would work but - you could possibly make a cwm backup, get it on to your comp, open the system.ext3.tar with 7-zip, and do all of your deleting/replacing through 7-zip... then close her up, move it back to your sdcard and restore as normal (or restore system only).. obviously not touching the name or md5 sum..
again, never tried anything like that, but it sounds possible (in my head at least)...
"I claim no responsibility, etc, etc..."

well all I need to do is replace and delete the right files, I am almost done with a flashable zip to just do that. do you know if the files that were listed as needing to be replaced instead of deleted (which is true) will work on all devices? I would like to post this for other device users to use if so.

That I do not know.
But, if you could do it for our phone first (keep it in the family ), I'm sure others would eventually port it to their device if it doesn't work right.. sounds like it'd be a very useful "anti-mod", if you will...

not yet, there are a ton of files and I have to manually type out all the file names into the zip updater file, so it is taking forever, I'm getting close though. I will put it up in an hour or so, assuming it works.
What a pain in the arse. I installed beats, to my dismay, it hurt sound quality. The voodoo sound mod is much better. If you made a backup, I didn't, prior to install you are in good shape otherwise, full wipe and reinstall rom. It would be great if someone made an uninstall zip. Good luck!

my uninstall zip will be up in less than an hour, assuming I am not doing it completely wrong! It should work on the Atrix 2, but some files get replaced, not deleted. I think this should be fine, cross platform but you know the drill, not my problem if it does something bad and all that stuff.

Reboot problems Liquid ICS MR3
Just recently I up-graded to Liquid MR3, and everything is working great but I am having an issue with phone calls. Once I am on a phone call i have a 50-50 shot that the phone will reboot during the call.. is there a debug mode I can put the phone in to help troubleshoot this problem? Has anyone else had this problem. My order to up-grade ... flashed the radios to the latest leak version reboot, then erased all info...then installed Liquid...No problems during install but like I said I get a reboot sometimes for no reason on my Thunderbolt/verizon... thanks
Go back to the .19 radios. The reboot is probably related to the leaked radios. The only reboots I get on this rom is with those radios. Sorry for the excessive use of the word radios lol.

+1 I have done a lot of digging and can't find a way so far to make it work. It looks like the button properties are somewhere else. I didn't see the home, back, and recent button entries in build prop ether.

Yes I'm pretty sure I found the files for hw buttons and lights and I found the imgs for back home and recent in the system ui I just have no clue how to enable them. I think something needs to be added to one of the XML files of the ui

After compairing the build.prop of both the Moto X and Ultra the only thing that stood out to me that may enable the softkeys is the line:
ro.product.display=Moto X
Click to collapse
Try placing it under # ADDITIONAL_BUILD_PROPERTIES After you have backed up of course.
Also, look for an xml in systemui.apk called navigation_bar.xml. It should be located in res/layout/ of your decompiled systemui apk.
What brand moto x is that I have a sprit build.prop and its didn't have ro.product.display at all. Neither dose my maxx

are you using an unlocked version?
have you tested your deodex framework-res to ensure it works?
if i give you a moddified framework-res.apk do you know how to properly push it? obviously you need root and RW on the /system
do u have a backup?
or a way back if need be?
in other words do you know what you are doing?
and will not hold me responsible in any way shape or form?
and fyi you cant just adb push the framework while booted you will bootloop. cause you have to rm - the odex and apk will be over written when you push, the best way would be to push it while in recovery, ( which you would only have if you have a dev version)
i say all that to warn you,
A) its 100% untested.
b) i dont have a device to even test it on.
C) beware bootloop is a possibility especially if you dont know what you are doing.
its compressed just unzip do what you will with it
framework-res.zip Show_navbar
and yes your right(ish) the bool.xml in the framework has to be changed from
Code:
<bool name="config_showNavigationBar">[COLOR="Red"]false[/COLOR]</bool>
to
Code:
<bool name="config_showNavigationBar">[COLOR="red"]true[/COLOR]</bool>
Actually strangely enough the framework res is factory deodex. No I don't have Dev edition (yet) to pushing via adb is out right? Will copy and paste with root explorer work, setting proper permissions of course, or is it going to f%#k up right away? I have no total back up but I've got the important stuff and it wouldnt be the first time of me using the fxz back to stock

And I absolutely will hold you responsible.
Not really.

I am not responsible for what you do to your phone. I am 99.9% sure this will not bork your phone but if it does its your fault not mine. OK? Great. Enjoy.
I dont have this phone though ive done this on other phones ive owned. Im confident it will work.
If anyone is feeling adventurous, ive modified the framework-res.apk to show the nav keys. Below is the best way to apply it. You must be rooted and be willing to flash back to stock if things go wrong (or push the backed up app if possible). You may have issues if you are not deodexed, though included in the instructions below is how to apply it even if you are not. You also must be able to use adb. Id make a flashable zip but you dont have a recovery.
Copy the framework-res.apk file to your internal storage however you please.
Make sure your phone is plugged into your computer and adb debugging is enabled.
Type the following commands (read carefully!):
adb shell
Click to collapse
su
Click to collapse
(look on your phone, it may ask for superuser permissions, allow it)
stop
Click to collapse
(note: this will make your screen go black and it will be unresponsive, this is normal)
cp /sdcard/framework-res.apk /system/framework/
Click to collapse
(if you have a problem at this point type: adb remount and try this step again.)
rm /system/framework/framework-res.odex
Click to collapse
(only do this if your apk is not deodexed)
reboot
Click to collapse
On reboot you should have onscreen nav keys.
Here is the modded framework: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/44601870/framework-res.apk
I see runandhide05 has also done the mod for you. I can confirm that what he (and I) have done is what adds the nav keys to the moto x (which i have).

It should be in my post now. It is infact of the framework you posted on the first page.
The adb crap may not work right now. You need to mount the system as r/w and i dont know what file system the X/Ultra etc use. Though it may work because the way root was aquired for this phone. Worst case is you cant copy the file to the system. No harm will be done.

It should be noted that there were two ways to root your ohone, the first DID NOT allow rw on the /system
The second from jcase allows rw only when booted into "recovery" which is not the normal recovery but a mirror img of your /system and will appear as normally booted however you have rw access to the system.
This is how you would have to do it. If you rooted with his first release you wont have rw on the system, if thats the case use his latest release and follow his instructions in his OP then do as mentose457 suggested
Thanks a bunch guys my battery's almost dead so I'm going to try this in the morning. And thank you runanhind for giving specifics as to what was done

Oh and what is the adb command to reboot to recovery if there is one? I've had problems getting changes to stick if the first reboot after the changer doesn't have write access

Verizon Root Guide (Knox still good)

I take no credit other than compiling info and making a guide. All credit goes to http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4911585 (br3w3r, Chainfire and Princecomsy)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-...-root-t3410403
Also credits to Mastajeff for originally making the guide for T-Mobile.
First off download these files: http://d-h.st/PK3q
Extract them to whatever folder you want, there will be 5 files in there.
Folder named: "su" contains the SuperSU and thing needed to root the phone
ADB Setup EXE called: "adb-setup-1.4.3.exe" Needed to install ADB and the Drivers
Special patched Odin that skips the SHA 225 called: Odin PrinceComsy.exe (Mainly for AT&T)
.ini file named: "Odin3.ini"
Last, file, named: "Samsung_G935x_QC_Rooted_BOOT.TAR", this is the engBoot for the phone.
NOTE: Some users have experienced endless boot loop; this seems to be caused by using a package disabler that disabled certain services.
If you used one and end up getting an endless boot loop try wiping the cache and factory reset the phone.
I suggest you backup your phone before doing this, just in case something happens.
Install ADB by running adb-setup-1.4.3.exe
Make sure to put your phone into downloading mode (Power off--- Hold Down arrow + Home + Power button)
Open up Odin and click AP and mount Samsung_G935x_QC_Rooted_BOOT.TAR
Once restarted put the phone into USB debugging mode (Need Developer options for this)
To get developer mode, go to "About" then tap "build number" about 6 or 7 times
Go back to settings and you should now see developer options, turn on USB debugging
Now back on your PC, Move the folder named "su" into your ADB folder (Default Path: C:\adb)
Run CMD by either Win + R and typing cmd or from the control panel.
Once CMD is open type this
Code:
cd C:\adb\su
or whatever your path to your "su" folder.
After that type root.bat
Wait for the CMD to finish and then your phone should restart
Once your phone has finally restarted you will notice that SuperSU was installed and root should be working, download root checker to find out for yourself.
If your CMD just says starting Daemon and doesn't proceed any further than that, then you forgot to make sure USB debugging was turned on.
If everything went well you will see the CMD was able to push SuperSU.
You can now install Xposed via Flashfire. Unfortunately, TWRP does not work on this method, so, DO NOT TRY, there is a chance that you can Brick your phone from doing that.
NOTE: DO NOT UPDATE THE SU BINARY!
Fix for wifi bug on restart: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...ticky-root-t3327399/post67592828#post67592828
Thanks 2swizzle for mentioning this.
If you want to fix the lag/slowness download any CPU or Kernel Editor or changer.
This one works fine: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grarak.kerneladiutor&hl=en
To fix the lag
Open up the APP
Go into the CPU settings
Set CPU Governor to ondemand
Apply on boot
Thanks to orgulloso4202 I have found a way to fix the battery drain and help with Youtube and the CPU.
L Speed seems work fine and my battery no longer drains when using the recommended Profile.
Interesting. First Sammy I've seen that Knox is intact but Samsung Pay won't work.
Have been searching a bit after rooting mine, don't suppose anyone has word on how to or if you can install TWRP or Xposed?

Got Xposed with flashfire but sadly it left me in a boot loop on the verizon logo, think I need to start over.
If we can get the bootloader unlocked it will be fun times indeed!
Going to try this soon.
Don't care if my phone blows up, it's the 4th here in the U-S-A!
Besides my trusty Nexus 6 and even Note 5 are ready for duty!
Xposed would be nice, I do miss those features.
Layer support even just to change up the statusbar.
Themes have done a nice job to blackout the device.
Root, center clock and some battery icon customizations and I'm all set for sure.
Perhaps the horrid standby time will be fixed.
Because as of late this phone has lead to high frustration to the point where I want to see how good it skips across the lake! But when I think of how much I paid for it, well I keep it in my pocket!
TWRP doesnt work, but you can install Xposed from flashfire.

So with Xposed working, that means battery saving apps like Greenify and Amplify work now for our devices?

Not 100% sure.
I haven't really installed it on my phone. I only know Xposed work due to the countless others that tried it; however, I don't see why those should not work.
Xposed is working fine and you guys need to install a kennel app and change the engboot settings to ondemand, that's why it lags and slow

Negative. The eng kernel has shown some lag and performance slowdowns for some people but can be remedied by changing the governor.

Am I missing the download files for Verizon or are they not posted here
Can anyone report that they are suffering overheating issues after rooting even after a FDR? Thanks!

They are posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/how-to/how-to-root-s7-edge-t3410470
I guess maybe I should make a thread here with all the download links and some other links that fix things.
Thread updated!
Added links and more stuff.

If you try opening the app you will get a message saying: "Access denied. Unauthorized modifications have been made to your device."
I am guessing that the app has some other type of security that checks if phone has been modded.
Anyone tried to unroot? Does Samsung Pay work if you revert NB to stock?
