I clicked the turn off shutter sound button and it still makes sound. All the volumes are down too. A bug maybe?

Same here. I just deleted the shutter sound from /system/media/audio/ui. It is called camera_click I think.

Hm..... not sure. I'm using astro file manager . What do I set it to. Write or read
Pretty sure the system is mounted.

Try using es file explorer. Its free and it has root features that are easy to use.

Another vote for ES File Explorer. I should have just said "writable" not "read/write."
Here is what the settings need to be:

Also having this problem on MR3, was able to disable on MR2 though...
Rom Toolbox by JRummy (free and paid versions) has a root browser along with lots of other tweaks.

Reboot problems Liquid ICS MR3
Just recently I up-graded to Liquid MR3, and everything is working great but I am having an issue with phone calls. Once I am on a phone call i have a 50-50 shot that the phone will reboot during the call.. is there a debug mode I can put the phone in to help troubleshoot this problem? Has anyone else had this problem. My order to up-grade ... flashed the radios to the latest leak version reboot, then erased all info...then installed Liquid...No problems during install but like I said I get a reboot sometimes for no reason on my Thunderbolt/verizon... thanks

Go back to the .19 radios. The reboot is probably related to the leaked radios. The only reboots I get on this rom is with those radios. Sorry for the excessive use of the word radios lol.

I did not make a back up how do I get the older radios version?
BTW thank you for the reply...

Radios can't be backed up you have to flash the .19 radios in the bootloader.

and then reboot.
I set this so you can flash and use with the best experience possible.

I will add a list of what was updated later but on a quick look thru, it seems gps, mediaplayer, some internal setting and the addition of sprint zone.
Awesome! Downloading now. Thank you very much once again. Time to back up all my apps and nandriod and flash this thing once again.
EDIT: So can I just flash this or do we need to do a full wipe? I would prefer not to as I have way to many apps and settings and all that stuff and would save me alot of time if I didnt have to restore all that stuff. Either way, I wont mind if I have to, just dont want to if I dont have to.

lets see if I get the whole thing this time... last time only got 48mb...
Had thought about going back to stock, updating via OTA, doing the one click root and then restoring this over-top to get the new baseband...
but discovered everytime I try and RUU my phone back to .6, I get a message about the bootloader causing the RUU to fail... (at least it didn't brick my phone like I'd initially feared).

[Q] Removing beats audio

I am running Lithium as my rom, which has beats audio installed. This has caused some problems for me, as it lowers audio quality when using poweramp. If you disagree, keep it to yourself and don't tell me I am wrong in this thread. Wow, that just sounded a lot meaner than it was meant to. Anyways, is there any way to remove it completely?

I was looking at that at one time... and I started writing down all of the files that get installed with the mod... but then I got to the /system/etc/ folder and gave up...
If you're feeling motivated, check out the attached zip for everything it installs, and then you could attempt to remove those files... by your method of choice.
NOTE: NO ONE SHOULD ATTEMPT TO FLASH THE ATTACHMENT - sorry for yelling, but it's not a flashable zip, just the system folder from the BeatsAudiob0314.zip for reference...
You should probably cross-reference and take the proper files from a stock ROM you have lying around though, because a few of the files are replaced, like /system/etc/media_profiles.xml and /lib/libreverbwrapper.so & libvisualizer.so (and possibly others?)... In fact, if you do manage to do all of that it would definitely be worth making a "remove beats audio" script/zip
Well, I removed it from the rom after setting it up with rom kitchen. This has worked before, but now it will not flash, I get an error in CWM that says something about status 0 and it aborts the zip install I think that has something to do with the update binary. anyone have any ideas?

Yea, that sounds like an updater-script or update-binary file issue... You could try borrowing the META-INF folder from a different flashable rom...
Or maybe you could remove the necessary files through adb in recovery (or make a script if you can - that's beyond me) and make a smaller update.zip with the files you need to replace. I have much better luck making small flashable zips as opposed to full roms. Either way, good luck! And keep us posted..

Status 0 refers to an issue eighths updater-script. Make sure you have a semicolon at the end of every line, and the line endings are in Linux format if you using windows.

...and a blank line at the bottom of the script..
Another thought... don't know how well it would work but - you could possibly make a cwm backup, get it on to your comp, open the system.ext3.tar with 7-zip, and do all of your deleting/replacing through 7-zip... then close her up, move it back to your sdcard and restore as normal (or restore system only).. obviously not touching the name or md5 sum..
again, never tried anything like that, but it sounds possible (in my head at least)...
"I claim no responsibility, etc, etc..."

well all I need to do is replace and delete the right files, I am almost done with a flashable zip to just do that. do you know if the files that were listed as needing to be replaced instead of deleted (which is true) will work on all devices? I would like to post this for other device users to use if so.

That I do not know.
But, if you could do it for our phone first (keep it in the family ), I'm sure others would eventually port it to their device if it doesn't work right.. sounds like it'd be a very useful "anti-mod", if you will...

not yet, there are a ton of files and I have to manually type out all the file names into the zip updater file, so it is taking forever, I'm getting close though. I will put it up in an hour or so, assuming it works.
What a pain in the arse. I installed beats, to my dismay, it hurt sound quality. The voodoo sound mod is much better. If you made a backup, I didn't, prior to install you are in good shape otherwise, full wipe and reinstall rom. It would be great if someone made an uninstall zip. Good luck!

my uninstall zip will be up in less than an hour, assuming I am not doing it completely wrong! It should work on the Atrix 2, but some files get replaced, not deleted. I think this should be fine, cross platform but you know the drill, not my problem if it does something bad and all that stuff.

Well first you need to be rooted.
Then grab a root explorer: es file explorer or another one
Then goto system/apps and find the s note apk, copy it and paste somewhere on internal storage or sd card then upload.
I tried getting it from zedomaxs file without flashing and no go considering I can't open an img file without it wanting to burn a cd
Right BC, that's why I couldn't pull it either. But if someone is still running the original firmware they can grab it for us, upload to dropbox and link us pretty easily.

You mention an IMG file. I'm thinking maybe, if you can post a link to it so I could download from the Internet and save it on my desktop, I could mount it as a virtual disk. Then, I could look for what you guys want.
Does the IMG file use a standard ISO file system?
I don't have any unix/linux stuff. I have winrar (in case the file is compressed).

Will I still be able to OTA updates (or use Kies)?
Is my warranty still valid?

Also yes the original firmware root method works great if you are on the original firmware.
I was on the original firmware unrooted and ota'd the update fine bust as soon as I tried to root via cwr method when I booted up I lost s pen and touch screen. Along with lots of other people.
But we all found the solution and are happily updated and rooted.

[Q] Disabling OTA Update Notifications? [Editing build.prop line to FP5 bricks phone]

Hello all,
Anybody know how to disable the annoying OTA update notification on the Droid Charge? I've looked at a few guides, and most say to edit the ro.build.fingerpint line in build.prop from FP1 to FP5 [although I inferred this, as the guides I found had them updating from the prev version to FP1]. I've tried this twice and it bricked my phone both times.
I've also tried renaming the otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.bak [in the system/etc/security directory] but this does not work as well.
I've not been able to find an .apk in the system/apps directory that looks like it's the OTA updater, and obviously don't want to just randomly rename anything in there via trial-and-error as it takes WAY too long to reflash the phone each time I brick it. [I bricked it HARD the first time around. ]
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. The notification pops up constantly and is like Chinese water torture at this point.
Thanks in advance!

What are you using to edit the build.prop? ES File Explorer screws up the file.
1. Download ROM toolbox lite (no pay)
2. Swipe right to performance tab
3. Tap build.prop editor
4. Tap ro.build.fingerprint
5. Change FP1 to FP5
6. Hit save
7. Reboot
If you are running Tweaked 2.2 or Eclipse 2.0. It can be as easy as flashing a zip. Check out my thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831944

Ah, I am in fact using ES File Explorer. What should I use to edit the file?

See my previous post or do that .zip, although that will put you on stock build.prop which takes away some tweaks from tweaked.

This thread is likely dead, but for the record, this did not work for me. I still got an OTA notification. Out of morbid curiosity, I backed up everything then accepted the OTA which failed. Rebooted back to Tweaked 3.2. Promptly got another update notification. I am going to try to ignore them for two weeks (per an earlier post to this thread) and see if they go away.
don't know why you bricked but I believe FP8 is the latest, not FP5.

Yeah, I knew that and changed it from FP5 to FP8. I would have been pumped for such a simple solution but alas! If in two weeks the OTA prompts have not stopped I will be back looking for more answers. Right now I have a few other rabit-holes to fall into. Thanks!

Thanks! I checked out that post and it spells it out really well. Instead of flashing the .zip I chose method 2 and used Rom Toolbox to modify the build.prop file. Interestingly I am certain this is the what the OP+1 was aiming to have happen with his steps it just didn't work for me. Same app different way to accomplish the same task. Go figure!

Hey there I don't know if you still need this, but here goes. When I posted that in September 2012, the latest firmware was FP5. To disable the notification, you need to change it to FP8, the newest build.

need help for Low internal memory fix...

Does anyone have ANY suggestions on how to fix the low internal memory on this phone ( Samsung Galaxy s 4g T959v- rooted- running Vallhallah Final). It won't let me download any apps.. There is room on the phone. I've moved most apps onto my SD card. It closes apps.. Becoming a GREAT pain.
I saw on a post in a different forum the (i1900).. said that this "fix" would help with the problem.. DataFix_11032012.zip - [Click for QR Code] (195.4 KB, 23367 views). I'm kinda a NOOB so I don't want to flash any Zip that's incompatible and screw up my phone..
bhundven.. helped me out last week to get my phone unbricked.. when i tried to go out on my own at first..
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated..
Thank you in advance.

Well, here is the story. All of the 'Galaxy S' (aka, Galaxy S 1) devices, except a few (sgs4g, sk4g, I think there is another), come with an internal eMMC (embedded multimediacard). This is usually where they put the data partition, for instance on the i9000, vibrant, captivate, etc.
For galaxys4g, we've been getting around this issue for a while with apps2sd. I really don't install that many apps anyways, so I never really run into this problem, but for those who have, that's what they've used. Most roms provide apps2sd (or similar functionality). I think with titanium backup, you can move apps to the sdcard.

Thank you again
Just be careful not to put apps that are supposed to run all the time, on the SD.
Also, I think that the fascinate is the other without eMMC

No, they have a 2G eMMC. Same 512M internal storage as the other galaxy s phones.
Actually, here is a nice comparison (fascinate vs. galaxy s 4g vs. vibrant).

I moved most of my apps to my SD card.. but the problem was still there. Then I unnistalled my Rom Toolbox pro.. and THAT seemed to fix the problem.. Very ODD..
One more question if I may...
I flashed Valhallah Final on my phone.. I have A Voodoo sound app on my phone as well.. but when I clicked on it, it said that I didn't have the right kernel for it. Is it just a matter of flashing the right kernel to get the features of Voodoo sound on my phone? Or will that screw up the functionality of the rom that I already flashed?

Which kernel does the about screen show? You might have to upgrade the kernel.

Yea, I'd either flash AntonX's kernel, my sms, or blastoff v2.5.

So just download the zip file and flash it with sgs kernel flasher and I'll be good? It won't mess up the rest of the Vallhallah then?

I'd suggest flashing with cwm. Flashing the kernel won't change the rom. Except for blastoff which will change the wifi.conf.
With titanium, you can integrate those Rom updates into the Rom. That can free up a bunch too.

I don't use titanium very much. Could you explain what you mean? Sorry (in some respects, even I'm a noob!)

Wat does that mean? "Except for blastoff which will change the wifi.conf" Will I Not have Wi-Fi? Do I need to adjust the wi-fi after I install it? How do I reconfigure it?

No, it does the modifying for you. you might want to backup the wifi.conf before you flash it, if you want to switch to sms or anton's.

Please don't laugh... HOW does one back up the wifi conf? Is it the same as backing up the system? Reboot into recovery then click backup?

I guess you could backup /system before flashing the kernel, but you really only need to backup the /system/etc/wifi directory.

It deletes the old file that the update replaces. You won't have the uninstall updates in settings anymore. I (assume) that when a system Rom gets an update, the old apk gets scrunched and lingers. This option frees up that space.

Updates to system apps get put into data/app integrating updates overwrites the original app in system/app so it frees up internal memory and takes up system memory. Also integrating dalvik into rom frees up like 50-60mb of internal memory.
