Hi,
My Problem: Running JBX Kernel froze the phone in less than 30 mins for all Kexec Roms.
Running at stock kexec kernel seems fine though, eg. Slim bean beta5 stock kernel
Tested Kexec Roms: Pac-Man (4.2.2 & 4.3), Slim Bean Beta5, Dirty corn
Android Version: 4.2.2 and 4.3
Tested BMM slot: 3, 4 and 5
BMM 1st slot: Stock JB leaked 3, this is my main system (should be clean, no extra cpu module loaded)
Tests that did not work (problem persists):
1. Disable SR for Core, IVA Or/And MPU
2. Increase MIN voltage of MPU SR
3. Changed governor to others: interactiveX…
Not Yet test: Flash BMM slot 1 with Kexec Rom (Dtrail mentioned slot 1 is necessary for his kernel. But I want to make sure the kexec ROM running fine 1st before I switched over)
A bit history:
I’ve been monitoring the JBX thread for months since my phone was Kexec Reject group.
Since the black screen had been resolved, I booted Kexec Roms with joy but not too long.
All roms frozen with JBX kernel.
Anyone have same problem?
BMM Slot1 is necessary for JBX kernel? Any advice??
TIA
lapu
yes ,I do

YES , I do. after I have installed JBX kernel at system3(i really less aware of these things, if i make mistake i want it to corrupt some system not the phone. so i did), wasn't able to boot into custom roms that i was using previously. i tried reinstalling custom roms and failed to boot. so, i restored to previous kernel (i think) with a file in the same thread "kernel_restore.zip". there comes a new problem called "customer id error: contact dealer etc" and the first boot image jellybeanx left even after restore. Dtrail tried help me. even that image is just left over.BUt now im installing custom roms with customer id error.....Good thing is PHONe s doing good.

hi Nani,
so, you also have unstable kexec system with JBX...correct me if i'm wrong.
restore kernel had never worked for me at BMM.
i guess you had restored the kernel to system 1
just a small tip, before installing any custom rom's etc, besides nandroid, make sure to backup additionally the CID via BMM.
I too have a plethora of questions of multibooting kexec roms via BMM & also additionally installing jbx kernel. Will put these forth asap.
hi guys,
i'm getting more stable from JBX for BMM slot 3~6.
first, i need to restore my first slot (JB stock) to original setting (revert all changes made by PIMP my rom).
2nd, i did these changes using trickermod (from priority):
1. Enable FSYNC
2. Disable Dynamic FSYNC
3. Frequency lock: ON
4. Changed Scheduler: SIOPLUS (default was RAW)
5. Changed Governor to: smartassV2
i hope someone have problem with JBX can try this and verify...i'm still testing its stability for long run with AOSP Rom (4.3).
still same

Noob question, so ive downloaded EZ recovery and I understand everything about the different recoveries I can use to flash roms. My main question is with the kernels. Can I use any kernel with any rom? And in general is the point of a updated kernel to better how the hardware interacts with the software?
Thanks!
Well the Beans rom comes with a custom kernel (imoseyon lean kernel or whatever) while Synergy just has stock. Just don't try to flash the lean kernel on the latest Synergy rom or you'll get a bootloop. I learned the hard way

I appreciate the quick response. But what does flashing a different kernel do for me? And whats the difference between using kexec vs cwm?

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) kernels have the potential to increase battery life, increase performance, and allow for overclock. You can read up on the custom kernel here:

I tried the imoseyon lean kernel for a while & saw absolutely no difference whatever in the battery life over the stock kernel.
I'm not worried about it anymore as I am now using the Hyperion extended battery which has ridiculously long life no matter what kernel you are running......
My question is....is it possible to run invisiblek kernel without it bootlooping or is there any other kernel that can run in conjunction with synergy1.4 without bootlooping?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Yes you can load the imo 12.2 kernal just need to load busybox first

Hello adriang1984,
Yes you can load the imo 12.2 kernel
just need to load busybox first. I give
credit to jrichards2007.
Here is the quote from jrichards2007

I tried to reply to the main thread in the development thread for SynergyROM, but as I do not have the 10 posts required, I figured I'd put it here. If this is against the rules, please let me know and remove this.
Apparently the busybox install on 1.4 is a little botched, and as such, when you install LeanKernel 12.2, it doesn't run the scripts it needs to in order to run it's magic.
All you need to do to get it to work again is fix the install of busybox on your phone. You can download busybox from the Play store and install it to your phone, and after that, installing the kernel should be relatively easy.
I've been running 12.2 on my phone for the better part of today at work and have had no issues with it at all.
I'd attach a link as proof, but apparently I can't do that either.

Thanks jrichards2007 this is what I did after reading for the last few days and deciding
rooting
flashing to new synergyROM 1.4
flash new kernel by Imoseyon 12.2
I performed the following below:
You must be rooted first and have busybox installed(see section 1 if your not already rooted, busybox can be found
(Click Here) - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&hl=en
registered 4 free acct with busybox
Load Noxious Ninja - GS3DebugFSRoot: Root the Verizon GSIII without flashing
( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792342 )
Loaded CWM version 5.0.0.9 (you will be prompted to upgrade)
(Click Here) - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5rb3VzaGlrZHV0dGEucm9tbWFuYWdlciJd
Will ask you to upgrade to ClockworkMod Touch Recovery - CWM 6.0.1
(Click Here) - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.unstableapps.cwmrtouchinstaller&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS51bnN0YWJsZWFwcHMuY3dtcnRvdWNoaW5zdGFsbGVyIl0.

Now load the ROM you want here
are some that will work with this
Download one of the roms below to the root of your external sd card

Select CWM touch 6.0.1, flash, reboot recovery
Perform Nadroid Backup
Wipe Data/Factory (for new roms not on kernels just cache, Wipe cache & dalvik cache
Select install .zip from sd and install the rom
reboot
I then downloaded the kernel below
Download Imo 12.2 kernel to the root of your Internal SD Card(/mnt/sdcard)
Imoseyon LeanKernel
(Click Here) -http://rootzwiki.com/topic/31329-imoseyon-test-leankernel-tw-82-v122-kexec/
This also works on any .zip file example
applications, themes, custom boot animations
Now I will start looking for a good theme. Missing
my theme from " fkfmfz" on my thunderbolt but
not the phone very happy with the SIII
Cheers,
Azbobs

hi
I'm currently running Siyah kernel, but having some issues with phone freezing and giving black screen.
Manually have to remove battery to restart.
I'm considering using different kernel such as PhilZ-cwm6] v2.5
Currently using NeatRomLite
My question is: what are the proper steps to follow for switching kernels.
- Do i first run the ultimate cleanig script and then flash the new kernel
or
- First flash and then run script
Also, should i rather use Odin or use CWM for flashing the kernel
Any advice will be appreciated

after a bit more searching, it seems the recommendations are:
copy cleaning script and new kernel to EXTERNAL sd card
boot into CWM
- flash cleaning script
- do not perform reboot
- flash new kernel
any objections to the above?
As I said: I was wandering if it is possibile to change kernel, I tried this one, installed with aroma, but my Sensation is stuck in a bootloop.
I'm S-on, I tried to flash either with and without the 4ext smart flash with the same result.
Anyone has a solution?

flash the boot.img of the rom manually
see here how
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861 (only extra 1step)
otherwise flash another kernel
which kernel did you use?

Sorry! I forgot to past the link and then I had to wait five minutes to edit my post and, well, I forgot again.
This is the kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216197 I don't really need it but I would have tried some oc and the sweep2wake function and stuff, so, any other kernel (or even the rom one, if it's possible to set it) is the same to me.
Just to tell you: I flashed Jellybam after a full wipe, and it was working, then flashed the kernel, then, when I got stuck in the bootloop I flashed Jellybam again without wiping, right now all works properly.

That kernel is NOT designed for AOSP Jelly Bean ROMs like JellyBAM. That kernel is designed for Sense Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs, so it's to be expected that your phone won't boot after flashing that over JellyBAM. If you want a kernel to use with JellyBAM that has all the features that you just mentioned (Sweep2Wake, OC, etc.) then try my kernel (Sultan kernel). The thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2035897

Yeah well, I was looking at the title of that kernel thread while I realized which was the problem, I'm glad to tell you that I flashed your kernel last night (I'm Italian) and after a whole day using it I have to say that I really like it (even if I've to settle with all the differences between the governors and the best way to set them with aroma).
Thank you!
Hello,
I'm running on stock ICS on System 1, Liquidsmooth on 3, Mokee on 4 ( All latest weekly builds ) with JbX
Once in 3-4 times, system 3 or 4 will fail to boot. To make it work, I have to boot to system 1 and then reboot. Some how it works this way.
Do you guys have any solutions?

Hello my friends,
I have that problem, every time that I reboot the phone, it pass BMM 3 second, and then stop on black screen whit the green led and the white buttons on. The only solution it's take off the battery many times, until 5 or 6 times, and then in on the CM . I was flash many CM versions, with kexec kernells from 0.6 to 0.8, and all of them have the same problem. I always do all wipes, data and cache, and many times back to stock room, and flash again cm , thinking that a pure stock fix the problem, but nothing, all times in system 1.
Please there is a solution for this problem, that i don't know, because is a big problem take off the battery always. And because too the rapid reboot don't work in this case.
Thanks in advance.

You might be a kexec reject....But are you flashing CM on system 1 or 3 onwards ??
Have you been able to flash any kexec based ROM's before??
JBX kernel should solve your problem......

1. Yes, I flashed CM on system 1 and 3, and the problem is the same.
2. Yes, I flashed other Kexec rooms but when the developers used Wangg Kernel, Ravikrang kernel and Hashcode Kernel, but any JBX kernel works for me , always black screen after reboot.
I have 2 questions,
A. Is there any file zip of Ravikrang kernel for BMM??
B. What is kexec reject? Do you have that problem? How you flash your rooms?

No there isn't a zip file for ravi's kernel if you flash any of his ROM's the kernel is built into it.......
Plain and simple kexec reject is when you boot your ROM which is kexec based and are stuck with a black screen......
Try flashing PA RC2 and use JBX u should be able to boot it .......
