How long does fix permissions take to run in rom manager? Just flashed sky ice 4.2f and someone said to run fix permissions and its said just that for 30 min now.
I have about 50 apps and it takes about 1 minute and a bit.

the problem the op is having is he doesnt have busybox properly installed

I've had problems with fix permissions in RM, too. Read somewhere in XDA that it's different in CWM than in RM. I've used a script in Rom Toolbox Pro and it shows the same type of log I see in RM, but goes faster. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't RM's fp just a script anyway?

If you've changed rom's and restored your apps from backups created while running other rom's, often that will screw everything up.
Try fresh installing all your apps from the Google Play store, or try deleting the app data and caches on whatever apps seem to be halting ROM Manager while fixing permissions.
Had the same issue of permission fix hanging forever, but Busybox install seemed to resolve it.
But my intend of fixing the permission was to get rid of the warning message that I get after a reboot:
"System UIDs Inconsistent"
This hasn't dissipated... any ideas?

Do a full wipe and install a fresh custom rom/stock rom... yeah that's a nice help.
I think I'll go suggest that to anybody having any problems in their Android phones.
It probably fixes their problem 9/10 times.

I am new & this is my first post. I have spent all weekend reading these forums and installing mods - GB & ICS. What I would like... is to be able to use Time Warner Cable 's TV app for Droid which allows me to watch cable TV and manage my DVR *and* use my Online Banking app to deposit checks. Both these require that the device not be rooted and TWC TV requires ICS. Is there a way to unroot an ICS ROM that is currently on my rooted phone - while still keeping all the themes/apps etc that the rooted MOD gives me (except SU,) and if so, how do you recommend I go about doing this? (It doesn't appear that using something like OneClick is going to do this for me.) I have gone from Froyo to rooted GB, Infinitum's ICS 1.1.1, then to UCLB3-CWM and would like to try ICS again...
Is there a way to take a ICS mod and install it in such a way that it appears as UNrooted stock ICS yet keeps the perks (except SU) ?
Thanks for your time and thoughts... Jami
Welcome... there is not any way to be unrooted and have ics on the infuse at the same time. Sorry, I know that is not the answer you were wanting to hear. Regards.

Actually...I think it is possible to have an unrooted ics Rom...most have it built in already but what gives the Rom root is "Su" and "superuser"
1) Get a Rom
2) Open it up with 7zip or another archive program
3) go to /system/xbin and delete the file named "Su"
4) go to /system/apps and delete the apk named "superuser"
5) put the modified Rom on your phone (I say modified cause you deleted two files)
6) flash like normal in recovery...follow instructions from the Roms op
If my theory is correct you should now be on ics with out root...ill be getting my infuse any minute now (or hour...) And ill be able to test it myself if you don't want to...you do risk getting bootloops by deleting the above files...you may also lose some of the ics Roms functions...

Theory appears sound and correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like the OP wants the functionality of a phone that is both rooted (TWC app) and unrooted (all other apps mods themes that require root)...not simply unrooted ICS.
It appears to me that a choice needs to be made between running rooted for one app or unrooted for everything else the OP wants.
There is another thread floating around here on the Infuse board about the TWC app requiring an unrooted phone. I saw it few days ago...someone there may have found a solution.

Thanks MG- it was the likely loss of some functionality that would not allow the 2 apps that she wants to perform, was the reason for my answer. I hope you are right, although I will feel terrible about giving someone a wrong answer.

I know the newest version of superuser has an option to temporary unroot. Not sure if this would work for the apps you are asking about but I'm assuming it was added for situations like this.
You just open the app and swipe over to the info tab, which is on the fat left I believe. Then there is a check box for temp unroot.
Hope this helps bc it would def be the easiest solution.

SuperSU and I think superuser both have options to disable root. If its a Cyanogen based ROM, there's another option to disable root in the settings menu.

When I go to the app info of Superuser, it says version 3.2. I am on jb tho so that may b the difference. I'm using the version that came with CM10.

Well...if you want, I can make a flashable root package...as in all that will be flashed is su and superuser...re-enabling root, so you could delete both su and superuser with a root file explorer when you need unroot and when you need root just flash the root package...kinda time consuming and a pain if your gonna be using those apps often...but its an option...
But yeah, the disable root option is available in my htc vivids superuser which is running ics...so try that first, or some of the other listed suggestions...

Interesting.. good find / may be workable for OP's needs.
Wow - thanks for all the replies!
Given all the advice, and considering my options - I think the way to go is to see if I can use a stock ICS rom (if that exisits - un mod'ed) on my Infuse. So I'll forgo the extras of a mod but I will be able to get the TWC TV app & the Banking functionality I want. Thanks to Smokestack's comment I did some more poking around and found a link to the hacked TWC TV apk for rooted phones and tablets in case anyone's interested. That's nice but it only gets me half way there.
Would anyone like to recommend a stock or almost stock ICS that I can use for my Infuse? Then I will take MG2195 directions and put them to the test Thanks, Jami
that's a kind offer but I'm hoping to either find a rom without SU or one I can turn SU off entirely on.

Most everyone will have their favorite and all that I have flashed have been good. The one, imho, that seems most stable is Entropy512's build, here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601844

However, now, everytime I try to install a ROM I always get the Status 7 Error message.
-I have wiped the phone 3-4 times before attempting to install a rom
-I updated CWM to 6.0.1.3 (latest version)
-I have installed a kernel first before attempting to install a ROM
-I have used a MacBook and a regular PC desktop to download the ROMs
I did everything above to try and see if the different ways work, but nothing did.

Here are my few suggestions:
Might try using odin to go back to stock. The sticky threads around here should be helpful for that.
Have you tried TWRP? Or sk8r's CWM touch? Some people have better luck with one recovery over others.

Take out the top couple lines involving the word assert and showing a model number
It happens due to ROM makers putting that in to protect from bricks there is normally a toggle in recoveries to ignore it

Negative. I did a ton of thread digging, I know I can just revert back to original rom with ODIN, but I'd rather not do it. I am looking for the simplest answer so that I can create a thread about it for people who do not want to search for hours and complete those lucrative tasks.
Also, MOST answers are like yours; they tell people what to do, but if people don't understand the 'lingo', the answer is useless. People need/want specifics, and that is what I am trying to do in the thread I am going to create. People shouldn't have to dig in threads with over 100+ pages.

First find out if its ICS or gingerbread ROM. Than look around the blaze dev. Pg., and read-up on the great ROMs available. Follow instructions to the T when installing whatever you choose and make sure you create a backup in cwm FIRST. Happy flashing
Flashing another ROM will fix the touchwiz thing, you don't need it unless you really want it.

I uninstalled superuser app and now it shows that I don't have root access. I fixed the thouchwhiz problem by just using the go launcher app. Now the only problem is that I want some of my tmobile apps back like mobitv and Polaris office. Hello there,
I got a problem with installing Open Pdroid on my Galaxy s I9000. Its rooted and running on CM 10.1.0-RC2 and Android 4.2.2.
The thing is, I can't figure out what exactly I am doing wrong.
I used Kobik77's ApG to create the update.zip and restore.zip and had no further issues with it.
On my phone I entered CWM and installed the .zip without any error.
I installed PDroid Manager via Google Play.
So far so good. But now PDroid Manager says: "The PDroid Core has not been detected on your device."
As of now I am not sure whether the patching Process via ApG has been a failure, something went wrong
when installing it via CWM, the PDroid Manager has been buggy, or none of it and I just missed
some detail, like the version I am using is not supported (though I am pretty sure I read somewhere that 4.2.2 and CM 10.1 are supported).
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Edit: my problem has slightly changed. PDroid manager now always asks me to configure it when i install a new app. But when i attempt to do so, it says: "PDroid Manager has been closed."
When i open PDroid manager via the apps icon it still tells me that open pdroid Installation cannot be detected.
- If there is any additional information u need, I'll gladly provide it.
- I hope this is the right place to post it.. I already tried to post in

You are only flashing the update.zip file, and not the restore.zip as well?

I can't think of anything obvious that would cause this. Are you running the stock Kernel? I would suggest trying a totally clean install of CM with the .zip file you created by ApG. Don't install anything other than the pDroid Manager and test it again. If it's still not working then try with a newer version of CM, possibly the latest nightly for your device.

The kernel sounds stock - if you don't remeber flashing a different kernel then you're fine. If you're that worried about losing your apps then just flash the latest nightly and use ApG on that version to try - but do a NanDroid backup of everything first, just in case.

OK i screwed and bricked my phone Anyway i managed to try a few things:
I flashed latest CM nightly and tried to get Open PDroid via the update zip from ApG --> failed
I did factory reset and wiped the cache / did a clean install of ONLY (I just tried randome stuff here) the update zip --> failed
I did factory reset and wiped cache / did a clean istall of latest CM nightly, rebooted and installed the ApG update zip --> failed
Each time the PDroid Manager wasn't able to detect a, in my case Open PDroid, installation.
I noticed that it took especially long to initiate the download of PDroid Manager, I mean the bar before the actual download starts. It took a few minutes until sth. happened. Though i doubt it has anything to do with, I just wondered if it may be conflicting with anything in the system. But probably just due to the reset.
I am getting desperate here
Well anyway.. I may have done a mistake, but realized it too late: Did u mean to install without the gapps? .. I did install CM with gapps...
If I was meant to install CM without gapps i will try that tomorrow!
If any different ideas come to mind.. I will try anthing else too.
thanks again..
Hey, my phone's fixed and my problem changed a little, but i dont know if i it is any
progress.
PDroid Manager still displays the same message, that Open PDroid core could not be
detected, but whenever i istall a app now, it asks me to configure it.
When i press the button in the status bar, where it appears, it just says: "PDroid Manager has
been closed".
So basically i can't do anything with it, but it sometimes tells me it's there
any suggestions?
Maybe anyone has the same issue?

I've been offline for a few days so am only just catching up on stuff. Given the problem you are now having, I'd suggest run ApG and copy the entire text output from the log. Post that along with a description of the problem you're having onto the ApG Dev thread, and also a logcat if you can.
Hi SimonTS thanks for directing me to the dev forum. I got my Problem fixed. The reason it didnt work is pretty embarassing though .
I had a old version of apg and/or the open pdroid Version that comes with it. everything works just fine now. Thanks for your efforts.
