is there an app to hide that a specific app is running? - Galaxy S 4 Themes and Apps

can't seem to find an app that i need. you see i use an app that checks to see if you have another app running (fake gps) and if that app is running the app i am trying to run will not run.
is there anything i can get to hide that i'm running a specific app like fake gps or to maybe block the retrieve running apps permission the app i'm trying to run uses?

Try XPrivacy

How can I disable apps from autorunning instead of constantly killing them?

Can I disable qwikvid, market, and all the otherstuff that seems to run on its own without having to constantly go into a task manager to kill those apps?
Depends on app, if system doesn't use it, use titanium backup to freeze it.
I think this should be in the Q&A section. But answering your question, I don't think there's a way to stop an app from running randomly, except in events such as boot. You may wanna check out the app called Autostart in the market. You should keep in mind though that task killers do more harm than good. Android's memory management on 2.3 and up is very efficient.

I wouldn't recommend AutoStarts, never worked for me.
Anyways, to answer your question, there should be settings within those apps to disable them from auto-running. If there isn't and the app is misbehaving you can either determine if you want to keep the app, and freeze it, or uninstall it.
As far as I know, market will autorun if you have apps set to update automatically, or if you have background data enabled it will run to check for updates. Haven't figured out how to stop that one yet.
And I don't personally use qwikvid, but isn't that the wifi calling app? If so, it's probably autorunning to make sure your phone is available to handle calls, probably used as a push notification type thing.

So am I to assume that freezing those apps wont give me any tangible benefit?

Depends. If you want to use those apps, than freezing will sort of uninstall them (it actually sort of deactivates them). They are unusable once frozen and can only be used again if you unfreeze them. This is used usually for apps that come pre installed on the phone that you are not gonna use.
I don't think there's a way to stop an app from randomly starting. It's just how it works on Android. I wouldn't worry about this too much. As I said, Google has done a good job on memory management.

You can revoke start on boot permissions for the app if you're on cm 7. That should do the trick.

[Q]How to determine what app is causing notification adds

My wife and I both recently started getting spam adds in our notification windows. we havent downloaded anything new or anything and we're trying to figure out what app would be causing it. We both use Lookout security which says there is no malware.
Maybe it's lookout security?! I've never messed with it but I believe with titanium backup you can freeze apps to keep them from running. Otherwise, i'm not sure. It's an app your both running though and probably not a standard app so that should rule out a bit. All you can do otherwise is uninstall apps til the ads go away. I'd most suspect a game, myself.

Download an app called AdFree from the Market and install hosts and reboot. See if that helps

Search for 'addons detector' app from market, run it and it will list what apps are using. look for any using airpush and uninstall.

A way to *prevent* some apps from running at startup? (not killing nessiarily)

hi, I have been reviewing various bootup type apps (autorun manager, startup manager [no ICS support?], etc) to try to find one that just prevents an app from loading (until i need it and start it manually of course) as opposed to killing the app when it tries to load during boot (which, i seems to be what many of these autorun kinda apps do).
So i was wondering if there is an app that prevents selected apps from starting at bootup. Any ideas would be appreciated!
Cheers,
-Gaiko
Look up vault apk root. In google. It freezes apps fully. Its not in the play store. And doesn't work on ics

Check out System tuner in the play store. I have the paid pro version and it allows me to disable apps on startup, not sure if its in the free version. But if you can, buy it, it has tons of options and is a fantastic app.

I use autorun manager, romtoolbox by jrummy has it too as does Gemini app manager
Try to use ES File Manager. It's free and lots of functionality.
Agree with imppy, has worked a treat for me. Requires root.
Check out "Autostarts"

ROM Toolbox Lite
Auto Start Manager
Control apps that run on start-up by enabling or disabling them. Enable or disable any broadcast receiver for any app.
So, you can disable an app's startup at boot and then enable it whenever you want. Persistent across reboots.
Not like freezing, unfreezing, and then having to start the app. And then repeating before each reboot.
Autostarts looked good enough for me to buy it, question to those of you using it; How much can you disable? Has there been any crashes or issues that seem tied to this? If i disabled all of the autostarts would my phone still be fine or would it seriously mess with things

Some apps are mantatory for system's good health, so be carefull what you are disabling.
In general, you can disable from autostart, every non system application...
Most apps I tried simply disable the "on boot completed" trigger, but that's not always enough.
Many apps bypass the boot trigger by autostarting on other events which happen when you boot your phone, like activating data or WiFi, mounting your SD card, etc. Some apps autorun "on time tick," which happens every minute.
Gemini App Manager has more autostart toggles than anything else I tried. ROM Toolbox Lite is a good runner-up.

Force app trough Orbot

So I know that in the Orbot settings you can choose what apps to run trough tor or to choose all apps but when Orbot is closed the apps can still run normally. Is there a way to FORCE an app to only run trough Orbot or not work at all?
Sent from my SM-N900P using Tapatalk
I think the easiest way to force the app to use Orbot would be to have Orbot run automatically at startup using Startup Manager (in the Play Store). I've not had issues with it thus far. If you have a device with decent specs it shouldn't impact performance too much.

Is there no file on the app folder i could edit to specify the ports to use? Someothing like that is what I was thinking. Basicly I want it so if I accidently open the app without Orbot running there would be no information sent or received from the app.
Use a firewall and allow just orbot and prolly playstore internet access since they might temp block your account due to 'suspicious use.' All apps blocked behind the firewall, if torified, will pass traffic through orbot.

is it possible to hide root in apps using parallel space?

i was giving some thoughts on the parallel space and how it creates a virtual environment to run apps. so could it also able to hide root from apps if they are installed in parallel space? could it be possible?
If you're using Magisk there is an option to select apps to hide root from.

It might be possible but your app choices are limited.
On the same line of thinking though the island app creates an android work profile. I've used it to hide bank apps from root with good success.

nice, it's a safer when you have to use some trash apps on your phone.

so i tried running the bank app 'tez' in island app and it didn't work. tez still found out that the device is rooted. island app may work for some apps but not for all.

no i didn't. I tried once randomizing it but then magisk stopped working for me and I again had to re-install it. maybe it's fixed in the latest release if someone can confirm.
