Check to see if you've lost your imei/eri. Your imei should be the number under your battery and your eri should be 5. If they aren't that then you need to restore them if you haven't backed them up.

Checked all those #s. They r fine. The only thing that looks different is the PRL#. It says 1. I swear it had more numbers than that last time I checked.

You may have to Odin all the way back and reprovision your phone. I haven't done it but I may because right now my Google play only works on a few roms and its bugging the mess out of me. My S3 was rooted and unlocked when I got it so I've never had to Odin before but I'm so sick of Google play store no connection on certain roms.

I got the same problem. Installed latest carbon rom i cannot make any phone calls. Tried to activate the phone again, but that did not work. Tried to restore from old backups going back several months ago, no luck. Any help would be nice!

I guess I'm not the only one with this problem. I posted yesterday with same problem.
Questions: (trying to trouble shoot)
1 - which version of CarbonRom were you guys running?
2 - and which Recovery were you using? If TWRP, did you happen to update to 2.6.3.0 recently?
What happened to me: running carbonrom 20130913. Updated to twrp 2.6.3.0 (from 2600) >> boinked voice, but my data and text works.
What did not work: nandroid all my backups (synergy, beanstown, cleanrom) = did not solve problem. clean wipe/format and re-install (cleanrom/synergy) = no dice.
What worked:
1 - Odin back to stock (unroot, locked the bootloader) -- refer to the first thread in this forum for how-to.
2 - Took all of the OTA updates by verizon all the way to most recent update (I think 5 total, plus or minus...).
3 - Go to your phone's setting and do a factory reset.
4 - ...this, thankfully, fixed the problem.
Notes: After my first bork and restore. I rooted and unlocked again. Updated twrp to 2.6.3.0 again, and reinstalled CarbonRom 20130911 (which worked fine for me before) --> same problem again.
...I just restored my phone for 2nd time using method above. Tedious as heck, but it worked.
...not sure if this is CarbonRom or TWRP related.....

I am having this same issue as well after attempting to flash Carbon Rom. Did the method listed above resolve the issue for anyone?

...played around some more -- and borked it a few more times....
it's not the TWRP 2.6.3.0. It's the carbonrom 4.3 JB --> issue being discussed in the carbonrom thread as well
I reverted back to carbon rom 4.2.2 and no problems

I gave up and called in the heavies. Got a new phone on the way. Thanks for all help. Will definitely fix this problem the next time it arises using this info though..

Next time you should really try to troubleshoot. If you call in a warranty replacement every time something you flash borks something on your phone, then they're gonna start to wonder what the hell you're doing. Plus, it's good to have some kind of experience and the ability to fix your phone if needed.

I have fixed my phone many times where I have messed it up. This time unfortunately I didn't have the patience. But I will take heed to your advice and work harder to find the solution.

There's always a fix as long as you can get into download mode or recovery. I had lost my imei flashing Carbon 4.3. All I had to do was restore my imei flashing the zip that the synergy backup made and bam I could make and receive calls again. But that was after I switched Roms. Probably ROM related becuasr I am using TWRP 2.5.

Just my opinion and .02. If you don't know how to restore your phone from this state or to use Odin then you shouldn't be flashing Roms and hacking it.

Not to sound harsh, but I know from experience how easy it can be to miss one little step in flashing or to encounter an unforseen problem. If you hack your phone and flash Roms for very long, the risk of doing this rises because we get so comfortable we make silly, stupid mistakes like missing one step or maybe we accidentally wipe our sd card which has our ROM on it. Also if you flash nightlies the chances go up even further that something will go wrong.

But on a more positive side, this forum is awesome because of the great developers and contributors willing to help whenever you are having problems. I personally have greatly benefited from the awesome support.

Best way to update??

Okay, I read on here every day on my cell and can't find the answer to my question. I, like alot of people have a stock, rooted, unlocked phone and want to update to the latest OTA. I would like to, if possible, do this without Odin.
I was wondering if they're was a file like Scott's stock Rom that could be dirty flashed over stock without any problems? If there is no other way, I plan on using Odin to get back to stock after I relock the bootloader, take the update, and then reroot, unlock, etc.
The big reason that I would rather do it without the computer is that I am on the road 90% of the time and don't have access to a computer. I depend on my phone for GPS as well as entertainment, so being without my phone isn't an option for me. Are there any options?

I am the same way and would like to do it without going completely back to locked/un-rooted/stock. I was able to find a ROM that Scott just updated with the new VRALG7 from verizon here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1892670
This will apparently update your phone to the new baseband and leave you stock/rooted.
Hope this helps!
Yeah I read that, but there are some bugs. I wonder if anyone has tried a dirty flash?

Did you just wipe cache and dalvik cache or do a full wipe?
What I ended up doing was a full wipe and flashed CleanROM 2.5, which is based on the new VRLG7 updates. Then I flashed the new VRLG7 radio form here:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/34053-of...zon-sgs3-sch-i535-odin-or-recovery-flashable/
Titanium backup took care of restoring all of my apps and settings.

You just want to make sure you don't accidentally lock your bootloader and reboot since you will get the Verizon unauthorized software message which is also fixable but..

Okay, I purchased mobile Odin pro, what is the way that I need to do it? I have not seen a guide for that application. Also, will I lose everything on the phone and have to restore everything if I do it this way?
EDIT: I think I can probably wing mobile Odin, I can't find the new image file to flash. Does anyone know where to find it? I looked on Samsung updates . Com and couldn't find it.

Can I ask why you guys want the update anyway? I'm also on stock/rooted/unlocked and all I did was freeze the apps called 'sdm' and 'fwupgrade' and there's no chance for it to update to the OTA. I hear all it has is dumbed down search and a Verizon remote-help sort of thing.
It blocks a security issue and is different framework from what I understand. I would lock the bootloader, unroot, OTA, and then redo everything but will not be around a computer until tomorrow at the best.

After reading the posts on Scott's CleanROM 2.5, that's what I am going to do this weekend. I will feel a lot better knowing I received the most up-to-date software from Samsung as the framework and then customize my phone the way I want. Plus, that's what a lot of the more experienced posters have been recommending, and for a noob like me, it would be dumb for me to not take their advice.
Thanks for getting back to me about the cache wiping question!

Aosp rom data issue

I have an issue when I flash any Aosp rom. After initial install I have strong 4G but if I reboot phone for any reason I lose all data. My imei is there and phone number is there. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

sounds like your on the fringe of strong lte coverage...the latest ril commits were suppose to help this. might try the latest pa or aokp build.
I'm on liquid rc5 right now and data is excellent. I haven't tried a reboot though. I'm wondering if it might make a difference if I reboot through recovery. Just a thought, maybe I'm just grabbing at straws, but this issue makes roms like paranoid kinda useless. Thanks for the reply.

I have the same issue with the new builds of JB ROMs. I do a clean wipe of everything and I flash the ROM, but when it boots in the beginning, I can sign into my gmail with data (even when I'm connected) and I have to use WiFi. Then when everything boots, I have no data and still connected to data (showing 3g) I do a reboot and it works for awhile and it goes out again. So I just went back to Beans14

I'm on liquid rc5 right now and everything seems to be working. But if I were to reboot my phone will not connect to data. The 4G icon pops up but never turns blue, and if I try Google Now or something else that requires a data it says no Internet connection. I have to be doing something wrong.?

Maybe shut the phone off, remove sim card, and turn on without the sim card then shut phone off and put sim card back and turn phone back on. That might help.

[Q] Questions about rooting Verizon Galaxy S3

Hello all,
I have a couple questions regarding rooting my phone
i have a fully stock vrz sgs3 and the only thing ive done to it is loaded a different launcher (nova prime). i want to root my phone so that i can backup everything ive downloaded onto it (contacts, pictures, but most importantly EVERY app ive downloaded) and also slap a rom on there for some unique customizations (was thinking CM10).
I suppose my first question would be, in the process of rooting my phone, will it wipe any/all data and leave the phone like it was when i first open the box?
and if it doesn't, will i be able to backup everything with a backup app (and also which one would be highest on people's lists) before i start getting that rom on there and going nuts making my phone my own?
thank you very much for everyones time and help with this!
happy new year!
slainte!
If you use the one click root method(http://droidmodderx.com/galaxys3/?page_id=159) which by the way is way easier and faster than Odin, you won't lose any of your data, afterwards you will download Titanium backup to backup all of your apps, I'm not sure if there's another app out there but trust me this is the one EVERYONE uses and the best one. Then download EZ-recovery(from the app store) and install the custom recovery CWM using the app itself and download EZ-unlock 1.2 (http://rootzwiki.com/topic/32456-app-920-ez-unlock-14-easiest-way-to-unlock-your-bootloader/) since 1.4 is buggy, and press unlock to unlock the bootloader and then you can flash all the ROMs you want. You MUST have the bootloader unlock to flash custom ROMs/kernels and remember to always factory reset/wipe cache and dalvik and format system when flashing and don't ever flash a ROM from another carrier because it will brick your device.
Good luck.
I'm guessing you are on JB OTA right?

If so here is the only method to root it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35418324
You woo not lose your data doing it. Also, as a friendly tip download triangle away because this root method will trip your flash counter. Also, I HIGHLY recommend not downloading or following guides from other sites besides here and root, and maybe a select other few. Seen way to many bricks by following random guides.
Sent from my VS920 4G using xda app-developers app
Make sure you follow the root guide according to what software you are running. The ICS method does not work for Jellybean. Rooting will not wipe your data but flashing a ROM will. Just do a Nandroid backup in clock work mod (CWM) thats backs up your data with your ROM as well. You can download Titanium Backup to back up your apps. Sms backup will back up your txts and call logs.

Well put couldn't have said it better,
I would not jump right into an ASOP like CM10 for my first flash, you might want to start with a TouchWiz based rom like Clean rom first. AOSP roms in general take a few more steps to install and still have some occasional issues (data drops, getting stuck in roaming, and loosing IMEI (no data) any of which could lead to a day of anxiety and localized baldness (hair pulling)
I hope you know what your getting into.....You will never be satisfied with a stock rom again

Just check in the prompt, even if it's right it'll ask you, it'll say they're values in the prompt.

Question
What is the difference between using the EZ-Bootloader or using Goomanager for TWRP?
I am not a fan of using apps just for the sake of it and having 3 of the same on my phone. I have seen people use Goomanager for TWRP, EZ-Bootloader and Rom Manager. All I want is one...so is there an advantage or disadvantage to using TWRP and uninstalling EZ-Boatloader?

EZ-Recovery has the the old TWRP preloaded last I saw but can load latest on sd card and use the app to install it. Goo Manager downloads the latest TWRP directly and installs. Rom Manager is for CWM.

Mr. Robinsons Route 66 K3 version works fine also. Just unlock bootloader before recovery flash.

Thanks

No signal

I just flashed CleanROM on my S3, and now I have no signal, and when I do I cant make or receive calls or anything.
I flashed it on my brothers phone before doing it to mine a day before, and his works wonderfully. Should I just give the phone a day? If so, and it doesn't work by tomorrow should I simply flash a new radio or reflash CleanROM?
Check under settings> more settings> mobile networks. You should be set to global setting. If it already is set that way, switch to gsm of CDMA and the switch back to global. That should do it. And obviously make sure your not in airplane mode, sync is on, mobile data enabled, ect.

Well did you backup your imei before flashing ROMs, as it was a thing to do in the guides of rooting your phone to begin with?

Well first your going to have to Odin back to the 4.0.4 stock G1 http://goo.im/devs/invisiblek/i535/C...w_ship.tar.zip
Then follow this following guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31051731
Or also try this if the above gives you no help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29462348
You do have to re provision on the G1 4.0.5 as it this one only has the menu.
After all is good please you back up your imei just in case something goes wrong again a d to your friend to whoever you flashed the cleanrom for, back theirs up as well.

Of course not. Go figure. I backed up the phone I did it on originally, and didn't need to. Decided the process went so smoothly I wouldn't worry about backing this other phone up, and what do you know I should have. Just my luck. Anyway, I'll try to follow the directions IMEI repair tool. Hopefully this will go smoothly.

I got the IMEI back using the first link without reverting back to anything. However, so far I still have no signal. I guess I have to revert then? The reason I didn't convert is because I found the tool before reading your reply and it didn't mention anything about reverting.

Fixed it. Reverted back to stock 4.0.4, still had no signal, typed in the dialer *2767*3855# and this solved everything.

Glad to hear now backup your imei because it's bound to happen anytime not even I know when it'll happen to me. It's just some precautions unless you wanna go through this whole process again.

Way ahead of you. Got it backed up with 4.0.4. Thanks for your help and patience man. You get a thanks from me.
Also, I think it should be noted for everyone else that after flashing back to stock 4.0.4, you can save yourself a lot of drama by using that code. Also, you do get stuck into a boot loop when reverting back(I and many others did that I read), simply boot into recovery(yes stock recovery) and do a full wipe. This is probably mentioned somewhere though.

[Q] Can't make or receive phone calls

So I rooted my Nexus 5 and installed a new rom, only to find out that I can't make or receive phone calls. When I dial out it says dialing then says call ended incoming calls go straight to voicemail. I downloaded a factory img and flashed back to stock, no fix. Sim card works in another phone too. HELP PLEASE!!!! Also SMS WiFi and everything else works fine.

Flashing the factory image should have fixed the problem. What version of Android did you flash and how did you flash it?

I don't think so, it still shows up in the phone under imei information.
flashing the 4.4 factory image to see if that helps. I will update when done.
Nope, same thing. It just says call ended after about 10 seconds.

I think I some how messed up the radio settings I was reading on this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...t/modem-nexus-5-flashable-modems-efs-t2514095
what I'm wondering is if this is the case if there is any way to fix it or did I make a paper weight
You can never make a paperweight of this phone) Might take time but it's fixable. Going to read the link. Don't worry
BTW do a hard factory reset. I lost my SD card, camera etc. Tried all the ADB commands and a full reset solved it. Means loosing everything but I think it will do it

Read it. When my camera went and the ADB commands went I dug a deeper and deeper hole. I changed permissions moved files. I did everything you should not. I was convinced I'd a paperweight. When you flash a rom there is an underlying system that runs the rom. A lot of crucial stuff is stored there. Thats why I say do a full reset. I'd made a real mess. I did the reset not expecting anything. I'd messed it up so much but it made it like new. I was so darn happy! Do it and get back. Gonna help in anyway I can because I know exactly how you are feeling

How do I do a hard factory reset?
Sent from my MotoE2(4G-LTE) using XDA Free mobile app
What custom recovery u got? If you have TWR go into it. Press advanced wipe. It will ask you to type YES. Do it.
Or in phone menu go to Backup & Reset. It's there. Good luck. Sorry for the delays but I'm in uk and my fiancée is in USA. Saturday we video Skype all day but I'll keep an eye on you

TWRP and cm touch but right now it's stock. I looked up how to do the hard reset but I'm not home right now. I will try as soon as I'm home. Thanks

God she snores like a heffa) Oh another thing if factory reset won't do it, and I expect it to. Flash a radio file. Any will work. A lot say that the kitkat are still the best but I like the new one

Well, I did the factory reset and flashed a new radio still no good. I found out that LG will still warranty the phone if it's all stock. So I think that's what I'm going to do. Thanks for all the help.
