Please help
My S2 plus loses signal, data and no able to call and eferything. After restart ok for couple hours and then again. What can I do?please respond.
Reset to your phone..if that doesn't do the job ,just flash new firmware. If still doesn't work, send back to service center
I would recommend you send to service center.
On second thought, better check whats wrong with ur sim card.i think the problem start from there.pull it out and clean the contact point a bit,or switch other sim
Yeah, it can be the fw. After I had my motherboard replaced it wasn't picking up any signal at all. got at a friends place on the 9th floor to see that it caught 1 operator out of the main ones. Thought they didn't plug the antenna or something, send it back in only to receive it reflashed and nothing else.(the repair course stated something like: no damage fount, reseted settings). Guessing they just flashed England's FW and the bands didn't work well.
I had something like this when i had gsm/wcdma connection type (dunno how to it right in english). Where i live there is poor 3g connection and sometimes when phone loses 3g connection and should switch to 2g it does not and simply says no signal. I switched to gsm only for a while (should get better area coverage later) and i don't lose my signal anymore. If it is crucial to have 3g you can switch on and off airplane mode and you signal will be back, at least it was for me.

Hey, I'm having this weird problem with my 3G connection/data connection. If I end up loosing a 3G connection during a call. The only way to get it back is to end the conversation. To further explain... If I hit a spot with no 3G, then go back in a 3G spot, it won't come back on. I still have a good signal and i can talk but there's no E, G or 3G showing. While my phone is in this state I'm unable to browse the web,, it says no data connection which is odd because i obviously have a connection if I'm on the phone...3G starts to come back on As soon as i press end call. It instantaneously goes to E, then G, then 3G. At that point if I make another call, I'll still have a 3G connection and my phone works fine, i.e. i can browse the web and talk as usual. If I hit a spot where I loose 3G again (while in a call) it won't reactivate, I can continue to talk but I can't browse the web. No E, G or 3G showing (just bars with good signal) and it won't go back to normal until I end the call. Any suggestions?, thanks. unlocked bootloader, completely stock, not rooted running 2.3.3
Its an issue but not an isolated issue. I've experienced this as well, on both T-Mobile and att phones. Maybe LTE technology will help with better signal transfer than 3g.

Same thing here.
Just for the heck of it I called t-mobile to get my original sim card activated. It's an oldie from 2004. They said it should be turned on within the next 24 hours. I don't ever remember it happening with any of my other phones while using the older sim. Maybe there's a connection,, it's worth a try, I don't have anything to loose. I'll post my results.
i was under the impression that you can't surf the web and make a call at the same time. since day 1 my phone has always turned data connectivity off as soon as i make a phone call. i thought its supposed to be that way lol. it isnt?
EDIT:
just did some testing. on 3G i can make phone calls and surf the web. on E, i cannot. i leave edge on all the time to save battery (dont need 3g to check emails), so i guess i thought its normal for data to cut out haha.
tmobile and ATT networks are not setup right now to hand a call from GSM back over to 3G during a call. if you are on 3G during a call, and lose 3g and go back to gsm, you will stay on gsm until the call ends. then the phone will switch back to 3g.
this is done on purpose by ATT and tmobile, the thought is that they will enable this hand off direction once 3g is widely covered. but since gsm footprint is larger than 3g, they set it up this way. its annoying, but normal.

Roger P, I'd hit thanks for your answer but I don't see the thanks button to click. For me it's a huge deal to have some closure on the matter. As we all know, it sucks when you loose confidence in your phone. Don't know if it's a web site etiquette thing and that's why I'm not seeing it. Either way, thanks a lot. peace
It depends on the 3G carrier setup by your operator. For example, my operator uses 2 carriers for 3G service, one is data only carrier and the other one is shared between voice and data. So sometimes 3G data connectivity goes away during a call because I was connected to a data only carrier and sometimes I keep using the data connection during the call because I was using a shared carrier. I don't know if this is the case for T mobile.
Hi everyone
I have an issue, when I'm on my office the network signal isn't strong so when my One S go to "NO NETWORK" after it don't go back to network.
When the situation is this I can't go to airplane mode, change operator (from settings), the only thing that work is shut down and restart (no fastboot).
Anyone else have this problem?
Maybe is a software bug?
I have the Paul recovery and su
EDIT: More info
That don't happen every time that the phone go to "no network".
I think that happen when it a weak signals and are under 2G network.
there are users with similar issues, I only use 2G networks. If i want to do a bit of browsing i will manually change to auto mode, but other than that i always leave it at 2G..
hopefully there will be a radio upgrade soon that should fix this problem...
I'm suffering from the same behavior!
I'm still with the original ROM with no ROOT so I contacted HTC about it yesterday.
I got today their reply today:
"On your phone, kindly go to settings > mobile network > Network mode, kindly change the network mode and check how the signal will respond to each of them.
-Kindly try a different SIM card, to check whether the issue is with the SIM card or the phone itself.
- Soft reset for the device by pressing the power button for 10 seconds.( Note that soft reset erases any unsaved data.)
- Safe mode(which disables any 3rd party application which might be causing conflicts for your device.) for the device by Switching power on , then press and hold volume down when the quietly brilliant logo appears on your screen, you should see 'safe mode' text written on the bottom left of your home screen.
- Factory data reset, kindly backup your data before proceeding with this step please as you will
lose every data on the phone's memory.
Please go to Settings > storage > Factory data reset > Reset phone."
I haven't done anything yet and I didn't notice the 2G issue you mentioned.
I also haven't got this issue for the last 48 hours but did encountered it twice (!!!) on Sunday while driving across the country.
I'll try having the Network on 3G only and see if that matters although the area I leave in is not with good 3G reception.
GSM is 2G
WCDMA is 3G
i use GSM only unless im using the net
I'm aware to the 2G-3G difference
I'm on WCDMA preferred so my phone tries to be on 3G.
My phone also suffers from the 3G<->H data connection jumps while the desire wasn't having any with the same provider (different SIM of course).
sorry, My bad !!
i understand what your saying now
I cant confirm much as my provider doesnt have 3g signals in my area
If i try to use 3g at my home, I have 0 bars thats why i always use 2g
I switched to 3G only (since I have most of the time 3G and surly wants it for the data rate).
I know I have on my way to work and back places with 2G only but I'll give it a try for the coming days and reply.
BTW, just few minutes ago, while having 3G active for sure (before the 3G only switch when it was still on 3G preferred) I couldn't make any phone call although I had 4-5 bars and data connection was running.
Two days ago I tried to change my sim.
Before I had a cutted microsim, now an original microsim and the issue is still present.
Yesterday I had this problem only in afternoon, not in morning and only where the switch from no network -> 2G -> 3G is very very frequent.
In all other times out from office I never had this issue.
I also changed SIM with no help, stayed in 3G network only with no help and observed that when such a network crash happened, GPS reception is also disconnected!
I had no coverage situations with the 3G only mode which recovered, but what we are facing is a network "crash".
Our situation was escalated to technical support of HTC after I wrote them all the data and they tried to solve it over the emails w/o success.
Same problem for me. I tried only 2G, 2G/3G, only 3G, but no way..same problem..i hope an update can solve this..
I just bought my new One S from T-Mobile yesterday and everything appeared to be okay but now I can barely get it to hold a signal. Forget throwing it on GSM only because it will have signal for a whole few seconds before dropping it. I also am having Wi-Fi issues as well. It just intermittently drops the connection there as well... Not a great start!
whether im imagining this or not im not sure, But for me it seems like, When the Network signal increases, the WiFi signal drops, And when the WiFi signal Increases, the Network signal drops...
ive been noticing this for over a week now, So it cant just be coincidence..
I dont think my (or our) handset is faulty, I just think theres a pretty big bug in the ROM, and no matter if you switch ROMs they all use the same base at the moment..
This phone has great potential. But HTC need to be listening to us and release some updates. !!

I noticed the same exact issue last night. My phone will go to full signal before dropping whichever connection. I'm just glad this phone can handle staying on 4G without draining the battery like crazy although I can only imagine how much further it'd go with 2G.

Exactly the same here. But I had a different WIFI issue - WIFI won't drop but stay connected - even if I am far away off the AP.

that one is also a known bug.
On top of that, WiFi will sometimes stuck at "error" status with no ability to turn it on...
All probably related to the same network chip driver or "Radio"...
I have same network reception problem. When I am in a poor reception area it loose reception all of a sudden and takes a while before getting the signal back. I often toggle flight mode to force network detection. I also think the reception bars don't reflect reality; sometimes it seems I have good 3G reception but cannot surf the web. I fear it is a critical bug. The phone seems unable to handle correctly signal fluctuations and protocol changes (GSM, 3G, HSDPA).
I'm colletting more data about this problem.
First of all I don't have any wifi issue, or maybe I don't see this.
I have a modem with N standard and one with G standard and nothing of this have issue.
About the network issue in this days I never have, only when I'm in office and the signal suck a lot.
Q: Anyone that have Tmobile/mod rom with 1.70 RUU have this issue?

I don't have wifi issue at work with a powerful 802.11n network AP but experienced occasional fake/unstable/disconnect wifi at home with a poor AP which operates on no-one-knows-but-definitely-not-N network. I don't really bother too much cos I can always turn wifi off and on to reconnect.
In terms of 3G/H signal switching problem, yes, a bit annoy especially when playing online game on 3G but accessing internet is fine just need to sometimes wait a bit longer.
I am on international unbranded version in UK.
I've the same problem in France about 3G/2G and wifi on international unbranded version.
Good day, today I dropped my phone don't know if it lost signal after this didn't notice until I tried to make a phone call but now there no signal, can't make or receive calls, I notice that at the bottom of the screen it shows my service provider name and next to it says no service so don't know it its hardware related or sim, do you think that if I reset the phone it might work again? Thanks. Right now can't test because I'm at work, but in general information on service it says disconnected

Flash stock with fastboot, if it's the same, it's hardware I'm afraid.
Thanks a lot did already, tried everything seems hardware related, noticed that it also lost nfc connection wondering rich part should I replace to fix it, if only has to do with antenna or the whole mainboard
The NFC radio and antenna are connected to the back cover. Try popping your back cover off and on again.

Thanks already did and nothing, could it be related to some other piece?
go to your dialer app and type in #*06*# and see if a number pops up (your imei number) (dont post the number here)
Did too, also the *#*#4636#*#* and checked if signal was turned on, tried sim in other phones works without problems, I noticed that nfc is not working too, guess it has to do with a piece of hardware as far as I know both antennas are in the back of the phone. Took it to service and they told me it has no problem physically, this is driving me crazy
Also checked that it has no reports of being stolen, imei seems correct and legit checked it also on a site to see if it's valid and its working, it starts with a 32.
My phone wouldn't connect to any network after being in airplane mode on vacation for a week, acted like no signal - empty triangle instead of bars. I called my cell provider (T-Mobile) and after a new SIM and a factory reset they did something on their end because my phone was trying to connect to a tower that didn't exist. I'm a little fuzzy on what they actually did, but it worked. I actually had to do it twice over a couple weeks before it stopped giving me trouble.

Hello
Hello guys, I am on the same boat as Valholy described.
My phone fell on the ground from my hands. When I took the phone from the ground... it was still working(it wasn't shutdown nor restart), I only noticed that there was no more signal. Tried to restart/shutdown, factory reset, different sim card but no luck at all... As Valholy described it shows provider's name on the bottom of the screen, but there is no signal yet.. It seems like hardware issue. Any recommendation to fix this issue?
Did you fix your phone yet, Valholy?
Thank you
bump...
any help please.
thank you
Hi i have a nexus 5 android 6.0.1 and whenever I make or receive a call the network drops from LTE to 3G to Edge. It stays on Edge even after the call has been ended and the only way to goes back to LTE is when the phone is locked for a few minutes. I checked the settings number cellular networks -> preferred network type and its on LTE. I have done a complete wipe on the phone twice and still the same issue.
Also in the past I have another issue which was resolved and I have had this phone for about 2.5 years and after the first 6months the sim was unreadable. The person I got it fixed from stated that the guy I bought the phone off reported it stolen and the only to use it was to switch the motherboard. Im not sure if they are related .
The main issue the network dropping down to Edge is causing is when I drive for uber and passengers call me sometimes I cannot start the trip or load the gps for a few minutes .
This is because of CSFB functionality. LTE is used only for data connection and if you receive or place a CS voice call, then the phone switch to 3G or 2G (depends from signal strenght) to make a call and after that if signal is strong enough switch back to LTE.
Appreciate your thoughts on whether this is hardware issue.
I'm in London UK, had phone for 6 months, worked flawlessly. Until last week.
Currently, I get full bars of 4G+ everywhere I go, and data works as it should, 140mbps + speed
I never had voice over 4G, so everytime I get a phone call, the phone drops to 3G for the call, worked fine too.
For the last week, the phone is unable to pick up a 3G signal. Anywhere, so it's not a network coverage issue. If I go into network settings and change from 2G/3G/4G auto to '3G only' i get no service, and 'emergency calls only'.
So I can't make or receive any calls, unless I use Skype or something over 4G.
What I have tried so far:
1. Reboot phone
2. Remove and clean SIM card
3. Factory reset phone
4. Got a replacement SIM from the Vodafone store
Still the same. I tried the new SIM in my work phone (iPhone 6) and it works fine, full bars of 3G & 4G available.
Do I have to send the phone for repair?
Seems like you need a repair, speak to Samsung they are usually pretty good.
