#Filename differs per firmware, get MotoRoot-1-att.apk for AT&T, MotoRoot-1-vzw.apk for Verizon, etc the -r paramenter is required if installing with adb
adb install -r <filename>
Run MotoRoot app
Press Setup
Install Supersu app
Phone will reboot, and you will be rooted as soon as device is fully booted.
Limitations:
Uninstalling the app will disable root until reinstalled
supersu is not able to update su yet, this will be fixed in an update shortly.
su is maintained in a ext4 img at /data/xbin.img and mounted over /system/xbin at BOOT_COMPLETE.
su is not available for the first few seconds of boot, im working on this.
/system is write protected, even with unlocked bootloaders you can not write to it while booted in Android.
Unroot:
Two choices, factory reset, or press the unroot menu option in the app.
Problems:
Run into a problem? try hittung unroot then re-rooting

I tried to but I can't find the db entry for entitlement_check... any ideas on where motorola could have hidden it differently?

What are the differences between the Verizon and us cellular versions of the x and could this possibly be used for root of XT1055? I know I'm unlockable, but can't kill my warranty just yet.

[REL] Boot Menu Manager + Recovery (ics)

Whirleyes just updated his app in the market, with all the fixes + additions us devs have been working on for the past week or so. So make sure to thank whirleyes well before you even think about me, this is his hard work that has enabled this to be possible.
I only tested everything possible and helped to make sure there won't be any issues.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.projectlense.bootmenu
Now of course, neither of us will be responsible for what you do to your phone.
This is a great backup tool, and should be used as such! The first thing you do when installed, is reboot to recovery, and do a full backup if you have the space, or a fast backup if you don't, which leaves out webtop.
More information will be written here.
But for now, read the damned help file in the app!
Also here is original Razr thread and info. But please put all new questions here to avoid clogging the place up.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27613247
Additional info: I will add bits and pieces here.
Sha1 error; you will need to uninstall any bootstrap or previous hijack.
alteredlikeness said:
To be more clear on removing the old bootstrap:
-Go to manage apps and clear data and uninstall the A2 Bootstrap app
-Go to /system/bin and delete hijack and logwrapper files
-Rename logwrapper.bin to logwrapper (also in /bin folder)
-Reboot

DO NOT REINSTALL OR USE ATRIX2BOOTSTRAPPER OR ANY OTHER RECOVERY ONCE YOU HAVE INSTALLED BOOTMENU.
Bootmenu will be all you need. This is a warning just in case someone out there does just that. As there is likely someone who will.

Now that we've got this working, what are the chances of porting CyanogenMod 9/10 to the Atrix2?
With BootMenu Manager we can now boot custom ROMs, and with the ICS leak we should have the necessary kernel and drivers.
Downloaded good. Reboot great! Hung up on backup. @ sys.img

Nope, this is basically CWM, and we can get to during any boot, or even in a bootloop. No need to fxz anymore with this, just re-apply your last backup.
sorry this is not a boot bypass.

Hey guys, as the title above I want to share how to play the line pop on rooted device (an abnormal use of device has been detected) I don't know if it will work on every device, but mine works perfectly, also at my rooted galaxy gio.
So here's the quick easy guide
Must have apps:
Root explorer
Supersu (if you don't had one means you can play)
How to do:
-go open root explorer
-go to folder system/app
-find superuser.apk and rename it whatever you want (weirduser, smartuser, etc)
-go to superuser at the drawer
-disable the super user
Done, just restart your phone and try the line pop.
Hope will works
If it helpful just hit thanks and maybe follow my Twitter @Chris_inoT
Or you can try this modified apk that one of the forum user pm me the link, credits all go to him/her, please verify if this work (chew2293)

Just download the line pop first, you will see why I make this thread. or if you to lazy will post it for you than.
Edited: see the first post, and please read it carefully, I don't want to spam this thread by "an question with not trying first"
And for return it to normal, just enable the super user, you don't have to change the name again.

Hi Mate,
Maybe it's not the right way to play game on root device
Because if we rename Supersu.apk others application that user su access will be FC -_-"
Actually if you wanna try, you can remove root checker with apktool or else
May i create new thread for this ? because i have the playable version for root device without renaming Supersu

No is not, see the second Screenshot? I used root explorer while playing the line pop, no probs at all or force close, I have not find any problems using my method, after play just re enabled the superuser apps from the apps it self, and poof back to normal.

OTA RootKeeper
XDA thread
here is the description
Description
Free tool trying to protect root across manufacturer's OTA updates.
Also serves as temporary un-root (see statement)
Distributed as free of charge - no warranty. Open Source license: WTFPL.
Alternative download link: http://dl.project-voodoo.org/apps/VoodooOTARootKeeper.apk
This application makes a backup or a protected backup of your device's root.
This device must already be rooted: OTA RootKeeper doesn't have the ability to root devices.
If several conditions are matched, OTA RootKeeper will make root survive OTAs and... pretty much well anything − except /system partition formatting.

if you rename the Superuser.apk, will it temporarry unroot the phone?
If a game has issues with you having full control over your device, that game is not worth playing.

Kingo Android Root is a well-designed, aesthetically pleasing application for Windows based computers that forgoes the device specific route, and offers rooting for a lot of Android devices from a variety of manufacturers. Supported phones include the likes of Google Nexus lineup, several HTC devices including HTC One, One X, One V, Droid Eris, Motorola Defy, a number of Samsung phones, popular LG devices and some smartphones from Sony. It offers a true one-click root experience, where you have to just download the application, install it, connect your device and click Root.
There are a few things that you need to be mindful of. When connecting your device, you need to have USB Debugging enabled in Android settings. There’s no requirement for pre-installed device drivers, as the software will take care of that for you. In fact, it will give you the Root option only after the drivers have been properly configured. Past that, all you have to do is hit the Root button, and let the application work its magic.
The app pushes SuperSU binaries which are slightly outdated, but get instantly updated to the new version thanks to Google Play. However, it won’t install a custom recovery, so that part you’ll have to take care of manually. Kingo Android Root supports Android versions up to 4.3.
Homepage: http://www.kingoapp.com/index.htm http://www.kingoapp.com/android-root.htm
How to Use the Kingo Android Root One-Click Tool
Step 1. Download the Kingo Android Root windows application and install it on your Windows desktop.
Step 2. Once the installation is finished, run the application and connect the device to the computer with USB cable to start the process. Now the application will install the latest drivers on your PC.
Step 3. This will take some time to install the drivers. Once the drivers are installed on your PC, you will see a new screen on your desktop with your device name and "ROOT" button. See the screenshot below:
Step 4. Hit the ROOT Button from the app screen to begin the root process on your device.
Step 5. Be patient. It will take some time to finish the process. Once the operation is completed, you will see the “Root Succeeded” message on your screen.
Your device should now be rooted. With the help of this application you can unroot your device as well. All you have to do is select the Unroot button and follow the onscreen instructions. For more help, check the application FAQ section Mod Edit here too..
**None of this is my material. This is the work of the Kingo team.**

It's unclear what was causing the slowness, but after a while it finally all went through and my phone is now rooted. Thanks!
I did have to restart the App several times while it was downloading the update. That also seemed to be going very slowly. My download speeds wouldn't go above 100kb/s (consistently) and after a while the download will stop at a certain percentage. I would then have to restart the app, and then it would continue from the percentage but then stop at another percentage.
I have 25+ MBps connection, so I don't think it was my internet. It could have been the laptop though for slowness on both ends, downloading and communicating with the phone. I would have to look into it further though.
Anyways, thanks for responding to me!
Did you use any other devices via USB port? I know when I did mine I had to delete my USB drivers that way it would go faster and not unmount my gs4 all the time.

[Root] WeakSauce APK - 1.0.1

WeakSauce and Firewater have been patched on the latest HTC builds, the current solution is SunShine http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792487
WeakSauce is an exploit for some HTC devices. It will not work on all HTC devices, if it crashes or doesn't make su available, then it isn't compatible at this time, and I have no interest in adding compatibilitiy. At the time of release, I confirmed that it was compatible with the HTC One m7 & m7 on Verizon. Those are the only two officially supported devices. Yes it will work on other phones, and is worth a try. It will also crash on many, and some it will appear to work and won't. I am not fixing this at this time.
Since this app is just so easy to use, and I am tired of off topic posts, I am closing the thread. If you can not figure out how to use it, ask elsewhere.
This app may not be redistributed, integerated in a toolkil or script, or sold in any way.
It gains root, mounts a new xbin containing busybox, and su. While it is designed for the Verizon HTC One m7 and m8, it will work on other HTC devices as well. It is a crapshoot depending on both model, and sometimes on firmware version. This exploit will re-root your device each boot. You only have write access to /system/xbin with this exploit.

Installation:
Install the WeakSauce app, run it hit agree.
Then install SuperSu from the market https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu
On boot (well about 30 seconds after full boot), WeakSauce will re-root your device.
Unroot:
Uninstall app, uninstall SuperSu do a hard reboot (adb reboot)
Update:
Uninstall app, Uninstall SuperSu, do a hard reboot (adb reboot), reinstall app, re-root, reinstall SuperSu app.
Trouble shooting:
Uninstall WeakSauce
Uninstall SuperSu app
do a hard reboot (adb reboot)
reinstall WeakSauce
re run WeakSauce
reinstall SuperSu app
then ask for help on XDA (This means don't email me for help on this topic).
ChangeLog
1.0.1
Fixed supersu updating
Updated supersu su binary
Fixed replacing xbin at boot
Added more compatibility for older models
S-Off:
Gain root with weaksauce
use firewater (http://firewater-soff.com/)
uninstall weaksauce
flash custom recovery
flash supersu or superuser
Worked great!
Will be sending a donation your way soon!
Worked like a charm! I will send a donation to the email above after I post this

Getting force closes on my M8, however its the international model. I don't want to unlock the bootloader until we possibly have S-Off so shame this doesn't work.

You have the international model but are using Verizon forums for root? Oo Don't the other methods work for you?
Installed, and rooted.

so this is only temp root and unroots on a reboot?
The phone is write protected. So all changes on reboot are reverted. We need S-OFF for full root.

No it has to initialize the root every boot, it takes 1 min after boot up for the root to start up

I only posted it in the verizon forum for a reason, I dont generally post roots for unlockable phones.
Anyone have any luck installing/using Xposed? Can't get it to work for some reason.
Can anyone verify this root method allows you to get around the entitlement check to use hospot on an unlimited plan?

What is this?
Glad you asked!
This is a followup to Stump ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/orig-development/root-stump-root-lg-g3-sprint-verizon-t2850906 ) that allows you to flash Bump'd boot images to your LG G3.
But wait? I thought you said this is an unlock?!
It is! You can flash anything that's been Bump'd, and Bump'ing a boot image is easy to do, and I'll put a post on XDA on how to do that in a week or so once I have all the details finalized.
Most ROMs you'll want to download will be pre-Bump'd, so as an end user there's nothing you need to worry about.
Is this similar to Loki?
No, you will not need to ensure your firmware version matches exactly with the ROM you have. You will only need to make sure that the ROM you downloaded is compatible with your carrier.
What carriers is this compatible with?
This is compatible with all LG G3 variants. Look for a post in your XDA subforum with Bump to download. If the download link does not have your model in it (i.e. for ATT you'd download a D850 image), then make sure you're downloading from the correct forum post.

How do I use this?
Prerequisites:
You must be rooted for this to work! Any root method that works for your device will work.
A working ADB installation and familiarity with it. This thread is NOT the place to post questions about how to install/use ADB. Posts asking such questions will be deleted.
Instructions:
Download the file linked below to your computer
Set your phone to MTP mode, and copy the downloaded file to your phone's INTERNAL SD Card
Open a command prompt window on your computer, and run these commands one at a time (YOU WILL GET AN 'out of space' ERROR ON THE ZERO PART, IGNORE IT!) - copy and paste them if you must :
Code:
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
dd if=/sdcard/twrp-2.8.0.0_d850-signed.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
Easy, right? You can now get into recovery as follows:
Power off the phone, and unplug USB
Hold Volume Down + Power
When you see the LG logo, keep holding Volume Down, release Power and quickly press it again.
Continue holding both Volume Down and Power until you see the "Factory Reset" screen (if you have Bump installed, it won't erase your data, don't worry!)
Press Volume Down, then Power to confirm
Press Volume Down again, and Power to confirm once again
Congrats!
