Oh please be careful! Cuz it seems like it is per device basis right now! I've read tons of posts here and there that people just cant't get this to work on the mini. Just saying! Just because I got it working I can't say that I have "the" solution for this.
I ended up doing the following:
1. Unlocked my bootloader at htcdev
2. Flashed recovery to Twrp 2.6.0.0
3. Rooted with superSU
4. Did a super wipe (Dalwik, Cache, Data and System)
5. Flashed the my ROM to JmzM4StockRootedOdex-WWE-1.22.401.1
6. Flashed my boot to the boot image of JmzM4_Kernel-09-4-13
7. Flashed my Kernel to JmzM4_Kernel-09-4-13
8. Wiped (Dalwik, Cache)
9. Rebooted system
10. Made sure superSU was installed and configured
11. Downloaded revone using the browser on the phone
12. installed a root file browser and terminal from the play store
13. Moved the revone file from the download folder on the phone to /data/local/tmp
14. Ran the chmod command on revone and finally "./revone -P" as su/root.
15. Got the error message -2 and thought god damn!! rebooted and ran the command "./revone -s 0 -u" and success!!!
Try it if you want but I can't say that this is the solution!!!

Just relock. It won't wipe data. You can still do everything you need in recovery while being locked and s-off.

It doesn't really matter. You only need the unlock if you are using fastboot to flash something. Recovery will work normally being s-off and locked. As for fixing it, I doubt it will be. The same problem exists on the HTC first

is it possible to relock my phone ? i want to send it back to htc because of the cracks issue on the polycarbonat. or will will htc replace it anyway no matter if unlocked since its a hardware failure ? i hope i can get it managed so they will send me a new one without cracks..

You can boot s-off and unlocked. If you get stuck at boot logo just hold power and vol down until it shuts off . Then just press power. Repeat steps if needed but it will boot. I'm using 4.3 unlocked and s-off write now.

Strange...mines unlocked together with S-OFF and I HAVE no boot loop issues, I used the "revone" method for S-OFF'ing. The only problem I currently have is when the mini is fully powered off and I plug into a charger, phone displays a large white battery icon for a brief moment, boots into recovery (TWRP), then locks up.....the phone charges ok whilst locked up though

Try to root with S On & *locked* using the rooting method in my tool.
I believe Busybox & SU is being installed, but the binaries are not present.
You can try and see if it works for you.
I'm trying to get it to work on S On & *locked* devices.

The only error is that the file doesn't exist for S On & *locked* users, although I can't confirm if this because this is true I've only heard about this from a couple of users.
The rest of the tool is bug free.
If you want to install a custom ROM then you will have to do either one of the following:
Use HTC Dev Unlock & Stay S On.
S Off without voiding your warranty. and then continue with this tutorial from step 1
Now, for the second method, you can also use my tool.
And frankly, because you are starting from scratch, the tool will make everything easy. Here's the options that you need to select:
First, S Off.
then Install 4EXT Recovery
then Install Firmware
then download your ROM & Install by selecting install ZIP from recovery.

I was in your state as well. I was trying to see wait whether Revolutionary.io would produce a newer version for the HBOOT 1.27. But I got tired of waiting and just went on to use other methods. In the beginning, it's a bit confusing. It took me a while to understand everything. But once you follow the steps, everything should become more simple.
A problem that I encounter was install 4EXT Recovery. I couldn't install it at first. I just install Clockwork's Recovery and flashed the ROM I picked. Then I went ahead and downloaded the apk for the 4EXT Recovery and install it from there. It was troublesome in the beginning, but it was well worth it.
My suggestion is that you should do HTC Dev Unlock first. Then S-OFF.

suggestion to re lock his hox was mentioned but his reply didn't say if he locked it, just said he tried to run the ruu. Bet it still needs locking! Also OP do you have super cid? If so he doesnt need 1.85 right? He can use the 1.73. I would still probably use the 1.85 like rpopo recommended though. Also if you have done everything correct (re locked and 1.85 if not super cid) the USB drivers can make a difference. I was super cid and locked and ruu kept failing. uninstalled my HTC drivers and ran the HTC sync program and used those drivers...Worked first time after that! Just have to remember to not actually have HTC sync running!
Wats a super cid..? Srry I'm new to rooting

Try the 1.85 ruu. Relocking and running the 1.85ruu usually gets you back up and running.

Then run 1.85 ruu, make sure you have the USB drivers for the phone installed and then once you do that, re-root and unlock the bootloader.
It works ran the 1.85 ruu. Ten minutes later running perfectly/ :good::good::good:
Thanks :laugh::laugh::good::good::good:
If you flashed a good ROM and your stuck in hboot, use fastboot and use the following command 'fastboot oem boot' that will force your phone to boot.
Stay unlocked push recovery in fastboot again
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Start the RUU. Finish the install, then back into hboot, select recovery
Invest in a copy of titanium backup and use between rom flashing hence there isn't a micro sd card slot in the HOX

[Q] Downgrading hboot 2.02.0002

I've sent my DS off for warranty, and it was returned with the new ics update installed on it. I immediately found out that the method i used to downgrade it from hboot 2.00 to 0.98(zergRUsh/tacoroot) wasn't working anymore. Are there any alternatives to unlocking the bootloader with htcdev, rooting and then going thru the whole downgrading procedures? Are there any other temproot exploits or are them under development?
Try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1443636&highlight=down+grading+hboot
or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318919&highlight=down+grading+hboot
Have tried both, but one needs tacoroot (not working on ics) and the other needs to be htcdev unlocked. Any other alternatives?

Trouble getting htc dev unlocked
I've submitted the unlocking request on htcdev, and was sent the unlock_code.bin file. The trouble is I can't get it flashed thru fastboot.
I type
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
and it stucks on sending 'unlocktoken'. The bootloader does something, as to reboot it I have to close the command prompt, reopen it and type fastboot reboot-bootloader and it rebbots just fine.
I tried several times, but without luck. What can I do?
Anyone?

Maybe you can try to flash a eng hboot from your SD card on your phone.
You also need a resent version of busybox
Shut down your phone and pull the battery and wait 5 minuter before you put
your battery back. In the mean time install the lastest HTC-USB drivers on you computer.
Start your device in bootloader mode and plug it in to your computer.
You now got bootloader-usb. Now flash your Unlock_code.bin.
"fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin"
Boot your phone in recovery
Make a nandroid backup of your ROM, reboot your phone
To make a backup of the hboot by entering this:
1) open terminal on your phone
2) su
3) dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18 of=/sdcard/backup.img
download a eng hboot.img and copy it to the SDcard/
1) open terminal on your phone
2) su
3) dd if=/sdcard/hboot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
4) close the therminal
reboot in bootloader an see witch version of bootloader you got
If it has workt go to recovery and do a factory resset, reset dalvik and install a new rom and reboot
It works for me because my phone has revolutionary root but you can give it a try because I have not
found anyone has done this with HTC-dev, I also got no experience with HTC-dev.
Good luck ( I'm not responsible for any damage on your device )

From that page I gave you the link to there should be all the information you need to read and understand what/how to do and why.
Don't expect people to spoon-feed you the answers as you need to learn or you will simply screw your phone up and then start blaming everyone else on XDA for it.

You have to browse all threads to find which way to Root or S-OFF your DS, that's what I've done before deciding to S-OFF my DS.

You dont understand bro. I know what s off is, and how to achieve it. I have done it several times on different devices. I am totally aware of the risk of bricking my device.
I just need a bit of clarification about flashing the hboot. Which one can I flash over the 2.02?

[Q] Post root unable to access phone through ADB

AT&T HOX from Android 4.2.1, with 3.18 firmware. Attempting to get to CM 10.1
Rooted and flashed TWRP via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41830252&postcount=201
Moved on to Facepalm S-off http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155071, was getting error 99.
Used the Viper solution from ChongoDroid on page 17 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38186473&postcount=163 using viper from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2087443
Install Viper from TWRP, Viper install stops at 0.00%, will not progress. Hard restart via power button battery remove sim, attempted s-off again. At some point I ended up getting the correct error 92. Success! Run 'fastboot oem boot', get list of errors, wait for boot into Android. Boot stops at white HTC splash screen, android will not boot.
Panic, hard restart back into bootloader, and this is where things go hazy (it was 5 in the morning by now). At this point I'm sure I put in some commands I should not have via adb (don't remember which ones), and did a factory reset via hboot. Recovery now brings me back into the bootloader. Bootloader shows *** TAMPERED ***, ***RELOCKED *** and *** Security Warning ***. I'm still S-ON with hboot 2.14.0000.
When in fastboot, my phone will not list via 'adb devices'. FAQ Q16 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136172) says if I did a factory reset in hboot, my SD mem is wiped and i need to format it from device manager. Device Manager shows my phone as Android USB Devices > My HTC and options are Update Driver Software..., Disable, and Uninstall. Updating drivers gives me a drivers up to date notice. No option to format the SD
Word is that if it turns on, it isn't bricked, but if I can't get my adb to recognize my phone, what is there that I can do to fix it? I'm on 64 bit Windows 7.
alright, first off, you flashed a ROM for the international quad core One X and you're lucky not to have bricked your phone. Secondly, what you're gonna need to do is run the 3.18 ruu and restore your phone to factory settings with that. That's the only way to recover from factory reset in bootloader. Before you do, you need to be S-Off. Which you are, correct?
Edit: re-reading this, it appears you're not s-off. I'm gonna need to call in some help here because 3.18 ruu with SuperCID will brick you, but I don't think you can use a lower RUU since you're s-on. Anyone know what to do? If you are s-off and I just misread your post, then go ahead and run the ruu.
If it turns on, there's always a way to fix it!
Adb requires an os to work, since you can't boot to your os, no Adb
That being said, in bootloader, you should be able to access your phone with fastboot. Boot to bootloader/fastboot with your phone plugged in to your pc.
Do: fastboot devices and confirm that fastboot commands reach your phone, then we will move on to the next step.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Correct, I am still s-off, and 'adb devices' gives an empty list, and does not list my phone. I cannot send commands to my phone via adb commands.
You just said in your first post you're still s-on......
These details are extremely important so please be sure of what you've typed prior to posting.

Yes, sorry. I realized my mistake as soon as I posted, but since I'm a new member I can only edit or reply every 5 minutes.
Yes, I am S-ON. S-ON, not S-OFF.
And aha, yes. 'fastboot devices' does list my phone.
Good good. So first you'll want to unlock your bootloader again since it's relocked. Just flash the unlock_code.bin or whatever it's called again that you previously used.
Sometimes if you're relocked it does the unlock process like it's going to unlock but then leaves you relocked. If this happens press and hold power to simulate a battery pull and try again. It should work eventually. Might take several tries.

I'm assuming you have supercid already?
I would reflash twrp.. nothing higher that 2.3.3.1
Then load a sense Rom from this forum through twrp. Just to get a running os on the phone. Then you can s-off and run 3.18 ruu

So I'm waiting on ViperXL to download (going very slowly), but if I'm looking to get to CM 10.1, and have root with TWRP, do I need to flash a ROM with TWRP first or can I do the Facepalm S-Off and move straight to CM 10.1 without flashing a middle-man ROM?

Viper xl will work fine that's what I used to s-off. Not with the new cm10.1 kernel you have to ruu up to 3.18 before you install it.

If I'm using ViperXL as my ROM during S-Off, will I want to use ChongoDroid's extra steps when installing ViperXL or should I only need to do those if the Facepalm S-Off steps don't work by themselves?

You should be able to S-OFF with viperxl without any problems just by flashing viperxl and following the S-OFF thread right after.
So ViperXL finally finished downloading, and I've sent the command to push the .zip to /sdcard in prep to install it with TWRP, but it's been stuck there for 15+ minutes. Should I be worried? Should I restart?

No longer needed

Edit- sunshine can temp root and s-off all versions now so this method is no longer needed
If you are currently on OS 4.17.605.9 you can downgrade to 4.17.605.5 while s-on by using a signed RUU.
Why might one need this? Perhaps a sunshine app update will support it? Dunno
This will NOT wipe your phone.
Option 1
For Lollipop
Download DOTTAT_VZWM8_S_ON_5.0.1_RUU.exe and doubleclick. Allow file to extract and install dependencies and then follow on screen prompts.
Option 2
Copy 0P6BIMG.zip to root of a physical SD formatted to fat32. No exfat! No internal storage! Must be external SD formated to fat32!
Reboot phone to bootloader and follow prompts once RUU is detected by phone.
Option 3
- (use this fastboot https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95784891001612150 )
Fastboot RUU mode . This method assumes you have a working ADB/Fastboot directory on your PC. Download RUUish file and place in your working fastboot/adb directory. Boot your phone to fastboot mode and connect to PC. Issue the following commands.
fastboot oem rebootRUU
###while in this mode your phone will display an HTC logo on the screen
fastboot flash zip 0P6BIMG.zip
##while in this mode you will see an HTC logo on the screen and a green status bar across the bottom of the screen. When command output ##completes it may say reboot required to flush etc... if that's the case issue a "fastboot reboot-bootloader" command and restart option 1 again.
example
## assuming flash completes and no further flushing/reboots are requested from the cmd output you can now reboot IF you simply wish to reboot the system you can issue "fastboot reboot" which will reboot system.
## expect a good 5 minute plus first boot!

No. This just downgrades you from 4.17.605.9 to 4.17.605.5. It does not change your CID to one allowed by HTCdev.com

Quick question from a noob:
You say in the post that this will NOT delete data from the device. But the RUU tool ReadMe has a giant, bold red warning that says "Installing the ROM Update Utility (RUU) will delete ALL information and data on your Android phone."
So... which is it? Will the tool wipe the device or not?

Hello, after exhaustive novice efforts and following the link rabbit hole, I'm here. I have a Verizon HTC One M7 on lollipop 5.0.2. I'm bootloader locked, s-on and of course not rooted. I tried this thread to no success http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...root-root-method-bl-unlock-5-0-x-ota-t3122099. That thread deals with kingroot and Sunshine. It looks like I need to get to temproot for Sunshine to work.
This thread looks like it's using downgrading to get to a point where one can attain temproot which will enable Sunshine to run? - that is if I'm understanding correctly.
Will this work for an M7? It looks like it's for an M8.
Is there any other hope for a locked, s-on, unrooted M7 at this point? THANK YOU for what you do.

Boot phone into fastboot mode and restart the EXE.
Used Fastboot Method
I tried the exe method and it kept getting stuck. I switched over to the Fastboot method and the flash of the ZIP file failed. Tried this twice and it failed both times. I'm S-On with a Verizon M8 (5.0.1). I'm trying to downgrade to root and while I've seen several sites say it couldn't be done, your post gave me a small bit of hope.
Let me know if you have any ideas. Gracias.
