Why do you want to post twice? Also, why your information is different from http://www.zopo-mobile-shop.com/ ?

I think that they deleted the other thread. But why?
Can an administrator/moderator please explain what happened?
Where is the thread we could find in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2403825 ?
Threats gone ZP990 !!

I've asked the xda people for an explaination and I received the following message:
Hi,
it looks like ost of the Zopo threads were started by a member who is now banned, so we removed those threads.
Regards
Administration
xda-developers.com
so we need to rebuild this one!!
I have some questions for this system:
I can't figure out how to connect it to my Windows 7 system,, still downloading the wrong drivers.
How to root the device.. safe way.
oops, didn't check the zopo site: http://forum.zopomobileshop.com/thread-1074-1-1.html
but I've been reading something else here which was easier to do.
so fill in the gaps please!
And I have some problems with microphone volume. people are complaining that the volume is to low.
hopefully someone will post me the answers.
Greetings from a new Zopo user..
"so we removed those threads"
Just like that? Just because this user was banned?
What about the ZP990 user who came to this thread to find info and help regarding his new phone?
JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE WAS BANNED, EVERYBODY'S PAYING A HEAVY PRICE.
Does it occur to the Administrator that this thread is (was) basically the only thread available on the whole internet for this new phone? There was really no other solution? What do we do now?
And I'm not even mentionning the Zopo official site who is far to be as helpful as this thread is (was).
Hopefully the Admin will take the user's need into consideration and will reconsider.
Why deleting a whole thread just because the user is banned?
He (or she), had amazingly simple guides for this phones, and links. Such a shame. . . I was supposed to follow one of them yesterday for upgrading firmware, now it's gone

I rooted by using only SnapPea http://dl.snappea.com/release/SnapPea_2.36.0.2265_newuser.exe
and eroot_v1.3.4.exe http://www.runamux.net/search/view/file/9fLmV0ty/ERoot-1014.html
Note: USB Debugging mode must be active on your phone.
Also, If you have antivirus it will try and block eroot when running, as it does with all root tools. I temporarily disabled it. Don't have any direct link, but it's on 4shared somewhere.
Just installed it on my W7 computer, ran it and voilá!
Well, at first SnapPea didn't fint my phone, but somehow it did eventually without me downloading any driver. just messed around with the USB settings on the phone. But I think you can find the correct windows driver here: http://www.4shared.com/zip/2af2t3I8/MT6589_drivers.html
Simplest root
Some say you only need to download the MTK driver (http://www.4shared.com/zip/ykW0IGDv/Driver.html), set phone to USB debugging mode and then run eroot (link above). No need for SnapPea.
Firmwares
Going through my log I found this: http://ajnhb5iw3h.l29.yunpan.cn/lk/QXCRdkKHzszvL
Firmware I think. Haven't installed it yet, was suposed to do that yesterday.
Another one here: http://ajewn7iqgb.l29.yunpan.cn/lk/QXGa53pdVrzMW
But I think that's older based on name (130818 [august 18th] vs 130904 [september 4th])
I think I'll follow the guide at the forum you linked to for updating SW. And looks as if it should be simple to Root using that guide as well. Although not as simple as snappea + eroot.

Youtube-vid for firmware and flash tool: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v_cae5p_go
(youtube is blocked where I sit now, so I can't check if it's worth having or not. But simply gathering things here now.)
Thanks FlipMorten for this tutorial.
- From which website did you took this exactly? How reliable? Did you try some by yourself?
- Also, why trying to modify the firmware of the Touch Screen?
So, here is my latest post and instruction because many users asked me via mail.
Download this pack: http://www.4shared.com/zip/ttg16QU0/RootDrivers_MT6589T.html
This is driver pack (works on W7 and W8) but could be in some case that you have to disable the digital sinature check before installing them and pack for root the device if you will install any rom which is non-rooted.
So download this and get drivers installed, then you can download my complete C7 ROM folder her:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/b-S-fbrx/7GB_Flash_20130915.html
This is the complete folder with latest ROM (rooted...means you will not need to root after flash) and the EBR Mod, to have 7 GB of internal storage after flashing, this ROM works really great and you can use for theming or things like that XPOSED Framework after flashing, everything runs like a charm!
How to flash:
Unzip this zip folder (best on desktop to find it easier) and start the SPFlashtool.exe. (make sure the drivers are installed), use the MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt from my folder (Change nothing in folder!!!) and take a look, that everythink is checked! Click on download button!
Shut down the phone and take of batterie....connect the phone now with your PC using the USB Cable and wait until flash is running...when drivers will be installed, wait after connecting, in the end you will see different colored lines ins flashtool and a Green OK button will appear, now disconnect the phone and put batterin in, start and have fun with a rooted C7 incl. 7 GB of internal storage!

I got it from zopomobileshop's forum.
I think it's reliable, as they sell this phone and have close ties to Zopo.
Modifying the touch screen is so that one can answer the phone while having the flip cover closed. Touch through the window of the s-view flip cover. Basically increasing the sensitivity or something. Not a modifification I want or need, as I don't use the flip cover - and even when I did, it wasn't any issue to open the cover to answer and then close when talking. At least not when it's so risky now. They said it might be implemented in a coming firmware.
I'm just going to upgrade the firmware
Thanks Petteri,
Is it possible for you to upload this at something else than 4Share: For some reasons I'm having a hard time to download this...
Easy root.
For those who need root. Search framaroot here at XDA. One Click apk.
Supposed to work on various devices also Mediatek 6577 and 6589.
Just rooted my mothers 6577 and its really one click, and reboot !
Thanks

Problem with new firmware: the phone turns off by itself
I upgraded to the Zp990_20130904_163745 firmware (with the new touchscreen firmware) following the steps you can find here:
http://www.androidiani.com/forum/zopo-modding/335606-modding-zopo-zp990-capitan-s.html
The forum is in Italian, so I translated the text with Google translate. It worked fine with the s-view like cover. I also flashed the CWM 6032 for ZP990 with Mobileuncle Tools. Rooted with eroot.
However, after that my phone started to turn off by itself from time to time. I don't know the reason. So I flashed back the zp990_20130818-102950 firmware and the original recovery. No problems so far.
Did you guys have the same problem?
Use of 64 GB sd card in ZOPO ZP990
Hi all,
Happy to see you back after the original thread disappeared. I asked a question in that whether anybody use 64 GB memory card in the phone. Is it fine or any lag. I am planning to buy one for the phone.

Hello,
Sorry for my english, try to be kind with a french geek
I thought it would be great to give to the community a tutorial step by step with pistures and screenshoots
Here is the method i used to open the tablet and flash the ROM when i "bricked" it while trying to activate Google accounts
This ROM is not really an update, i prefer asking it rescue ROM for bricked tablets.
"HOW TO FASH THE TABLET" - TUTORIAL in english :
docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=false&embedded=true &srcid=0B96pdh3MCBWgNDVjMjdiNTMtY2E2YS00ZWYzLThmYj ItN2U0ZmY3N2E0NDFh&authkey=COyCmKsH&hl=en
(copy link in your browser adress bar)
CUSTOM ROM :
docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B96pdh3MCBWgNDJhMTIxNTktNmE3Yi00MjI4LThjN zQtODkzNDc0MzAyZTc3&sort=name&layout=list&num=50
(copy link in your browser adress bar)
Unfortunately, the Android Market has been disabled due to too many issues. But alternativ markets have been installed to make your life easier ;-)
IMAGE FLASHING TOOL - it is still the same, but if you need it :
apad-france.fr/components/com_agora/img/members/268/usbit.zip
(copy link in your browser adress bar)
CHANGES
:
• Remove unneeded or Chinese apps (AppStore + HANDONAPP + Agpsstatus) which unnecessarily polluted the tablet memory.
• Enabling Google accounts
• GMAIL
• GOOGLE TALK
• MAPS: LATITUDE option functional (visibility of your Google contacts on the card)
• Alternative MARKETS: SlideME + APKTOR (very interesting market because of the possibility to add sites apps url to enhance the catalog of applications - for that Google search is my friend)
• Video Player: MPlayer (nicer than the original video app)
:
This is a "beta" version so are not fully functional:
• HARD RESET or restore to the factory datas. I did not yet managed to change the restore file, so if you HARD RESET tablet, you will restore all the craps from original firmware ... sorry ☹ So the only way to restore this custom ROM is to flash the tablet.
• Android Market: i can not keep system stability (I unfortunately am not computer) and the tablet "Brick" systematically. I decided not to install Google Market in this version. This will be the subject of the next version i hope☺
• Reccuring error message "closing framework ..." just click on" force quit ". No impact on the operating system running.
ON THE FIRST BOOT (Google account activation) :
• You see the the welcome message with ANDROID logo and the clicking hand (take the opportunity to change the language if necessary)
• Click the screen 4 corners in the direction of clockwise starting at the top left corner and going to the right
• Select "SetupWizard ..." in the selection list that appears
• You will be able to set up Google accounts - If you do not automatiicly enter Google accounts set up, go back to the desktop and select GMAIL.
• You can now enter your Google Account login (gmail address without extension "gmail.com") + password gmail
(If the wifi is off - back to the office with the small house at the top right of the screen. Go to Settings / WiFi / and select your WiFi network and enter the WEP key if your network it is protected. Once connected, return to the office and launch GMAIL)
Your Google account is activated
• SORFT RESET (paperclip in the small hole beside the plug in iPod) - the tablet reboots by itself
You often closing the message framework, but it's not important, go further by clicking on "force quit"
You can change synchronization settings (menu button) and also in the google accounts settings (phone settings: Account and synchonisation)
Have fun with this ROM !!!
If somebody wants to find the way of xternal miniSD or USB flashing it would be great !!
Thanks for the guide, very useful.
What type of problems are you having getting Market working? Does logcat show anything?
I have also had some issues to get it to run properly, as well as getting the Contact/Calendar sync running. Will try flashing your ROM.
http://www.shenit.com/utopia-apad-imx515-8-inch-android-2-2-tablet-freescale-arm-cortex-a8.html
Is that this device that you are operate with ?
I find that, the internal storage of /data really small, event Froyo 2.2 has Apps2SD, still not enough to me to install more apps, but given large 4G SD internal are there, just not making use if it.
Any easy script to relink them so can expand /data ?
thanks
James
Hello
Yes this is the tablet i'm working on
You can change memory allocation puting your system SD card in a miniSD card reader and changing partitions allocations with windows XP system tool (the one you use to change your HDD partitions allocations)
But now you can find a flashing external tool on a sd card sold by "androidtouchpc" website - You don't need my ROM anymore
Best regards
I notice that, during the boot of apad 2.2;
I push middle button + right side of button + power on.
I am getting a text mode selection menu, it has 5~6 selection.
-. reboot system now
-. update update.zip
-. update /system
-. update nandroid
-. update boot.img
-. wipe data
-. wipe cache partition
something like that.... since I am in the office, I need check it again from home to confirm.
In this case, will it be easlier doing update in this way ?
thanks
James

I am curious...
What's the point of opening the Ipad? you did'nt include in your instructions how to flash the ROM
The flashing tool from Androidtouchpc is already available on Slatedroid in the Cortex A8 forum.
It will not work with your download ROM as yours is a disc image and the flashing tool works via an update image.
If you would like PM me and I will try and help you.

The flashing tool from Androidtouchpc is already available on Slatedroid in the Cortex A8 forum.
It will not work with your download ROM as yours is a disc image and the flashing tool works via an update image.
If you would like PM me and I will try and help you.

Hello,
Sorry for my english, try to be kind with a french geek
I thought it would be great to give to the community a tutorial step by step with pistures and screenshoots
Here is the method i used to open the tablet and flash the ROM when i "bricked" it while trying to activate Google accounts
This ROM is not really an update, i prefer asking it rescue ROM for bricked tablets.
"HOW TO FASH THE TABLET" - TUTORIAL in english :
docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=false&embedded=true &srcid=0B96pdh3MCBWgNDVjMjdiNTMtY2E2YS00ZWYzLThmYj ItN2U0ZmY3N2E0NDFh&authkey=COyCmKsH&hl=en

CUSTOM ROM :

To : Jefflyonfr,
you USB tool not able to resize from image to a larger SD card, 8 or 16GB. Do you know any tool can resize Android partition ?
Shaking problem solution is available here , on slatedroid forum in english :
slatedroid.com/index.php?topic=12192.msg99436;topicseen#msg99436
The post explaines something like that :
"The problem (for me anyway) is a that touchscreen plate is being squashed or deformed by cheap ass top cover. It is causing lots of junk touches be generated when you press it because of the warps in the plastic. That is why it works so much better when the cover is off. Its a noisy touchscreen but you can get it back down to "acceptable" levels for the touch driver's sample averaging algorithm to handle.
This is nothing to do with EMI or any fancy electrical stuff.. just crap design and workmanship quality.
This is a (and I mean relatively.. ) easy fix by adding a shim under the edges of touchscreen so there is little or no pressure on the screen itself and/or shaving off some plastic off the stand where the LCD screen sits. You need to make sure that the touch screen is not warped or twisted in any way. If you have ever tried to mod an EEEPC netbook with a third party touch screen, then you would know what I mean. mmm.. I'm guess not many of you guys here have. "

Good luck !
Androidtouchpc.com released SL-A8, HEROTAB dual speaker firmwares last night
Androidtouchpc.com has came through once again for all those with the Touch8 Max or the SL-A8 (Utopia model) or the dual speaker Herotab. We are finishing up another clone model and that will be released shortly as well, but if you have either of the 2 models mentioned, visit us on the web and support our efforts. We have put in a lot of time with this release and appreciate all the support. We now have a full Android Market, we have tested the other methods out there, but this is the only true 100% market. We also addressed the G-sensor for the models mentioned. If your model was not mentioned, be patient as we will have those releases shortly. Once again thanks for the support as we will have more to come.....
Hi there jefflyonfr,I have one of that Cortex A8 Tablet with badly shaking screen

How do I open the back cover of the unit?? (no screws)
Can you give a step by step instructions
What type of material you use for the "shim"
Have been to slatedroid web site but could not understand the instructions

Q&A coming soon from cooleagle
Basic noobie questions:
Q1: What is Android? I heard that my phone has this as said by the guy who sold me this phone......
A1: Hello new user, Android is an Operating System (a.k.a OS) for phones, like how Windows is for computers. It is meant to be simple, efficient and customisable.
More can be seen here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_(operating_system)
Q2: What is root? What does it do?
A2: Rooting is the process of attaining superuser (su) access to your phone. It is similiar to the jailbreaking process on Apple phones
Q3: What are the different Android versions available for our phone?
A3: Currently only 2.3.3 to 2.3.6. Don't worry, Cyanogenmod 7 will have 2.3.7
Q4: I've heard all this commotion about "stock" firmwares. What are they?
A4: Okay, stock firmwares are update files from Samsung which are available for download. This stock firmware may also stand for factory firmware (if you didn't update)
Q5: What's build.prop? What are some of the build.prop tweaks and meanings?
A5: Build.prop is a file that defines the build properties of the build and phone. It is a necessary part of the phone and if it's missing, the phone may not be able to boot.
Here are some build.prop tweaks:
pm.sleep_mode=(0 or 1)
Enables the phone's sleep mode.
0 to disable, 1 to enable.
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=(0 or 1)
Disables the network power collapse, allowing the phone to sleep better.
0 to disable, 1 to enable tweak.
dalvik.vm.heapsize=(amount in mb, e.g 48m)
Defines the Dalvik Virtual Machine Heapsize for games to run better.
ro.sf.lcd_density=(0-999, Galaxy R default is 240)
Defines the LCD density (in dpi) for your device. It's recommended not to change your density for Samsung phones as they will cause problems with your phone's Dialer service.
wifi.suppliant_scan_interval=(time in seconds, e.g. 60)
Defines the time taken to scan for new WiFi networks if no open networks are found. Setting the option higher may save more battery as it scans lesser.
persist.sys.camera-mute=(0 or 1)
Turns off the camera shutter sound (Be careful with this, it may be illegal in yoir region!)
You can also try this suggestion by pudup:
pudup said:
To disable the camera sound, there's a few things you can do.
1. This one is kinda annoying but if the sound annoys you more, you could just put your phone on silent or hold the volume down button until the volume is off. The camera shutter sound shouldn't be heard.
2. Download an alternate camera application. Eg. LGCamera.
3. Wait for the CyanogenMod 7 rom. That has the option to disable the sound in it's settings.
Click to collapse
0 to turn sounds, 1 to turn off sounds.
video.accelerate.hw=(0 or 1)
Enables hardware decoding of videos. Only for video formats natively supported by phone.
0 to disable, 1 to enable.
ro.ril.hsxpa=(0, 1, 2 or 3, default is 1)
Determines the speed of your HSUPA.
0 = HSUPA disabled (very slow upload)
1 = Stock HSUPA enabled and capped (slow upload)
2 = HSUPA enabled but capped (good upload)
3 = HSUPA enabled and uncapped (best upload)
Q6: Does this phone support overclocking? I feel that I'm not getting the most out of this phone :/
A6: Yes this phone does support overclocking. The kernel by ardatdat should be in the Development section. It even supports undervolting to save battery!
Q7: Why is there a yellow triangle below "Samsung Galaxy R GT-i9103" on boot?
A7: That's because you probably flashed a non-stock kernel through Odin3. Try reflashing a stock ROM and use CWM to flash the phone next time.....
cooleagle and I will add more info to come
Guides:
Guide 1: How to make use of ADB (Android Debug Bridge) for debugging and testing
By now, you all should've known that Android makes mistakes. Actually, not just Android. EVERYONE makes mistakes. Well, for this case it's something going wrong with a game, or just something wrong with a ROM.
The developers @ Google were smart enough to make this logging binary called
Code:
logcat
and it logs everything going on inside Android, from bootup, to dexopt, basic processes and even to shutting down!
There are 2 ways of accessing Android's logcat:
WAY #1: Using Terminal Emulator
Requirements:
A working phone that boots
Rooted with Superuser
Advantages:
It allows debugging without a computer, unlike the 2nd way.
Terminal Emulator is easily downloadable from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwyLDEsImphY2twYWwuYW5kcm9pZHRlcm0iXQ..
Disadvantages:
It's harder to debug using the phone, especially if it is stuck at the bootanimation or splash screen.
Root is needed otherwise you will get
Code:
logcat: permission denied
in the terminal
Steps:
Download Terminal Emulator from Google Play or the link above
Once you've entered it, type in
Code:
su
using the virtual keyboard
Allow it in the Superuser prompt
Then go ahead and type
Code:
logcat
, you will see a bunch of crazy things.
If you want to save a log, do:
Code:
logcat > /mnt/sdcard/logcat.txt
WAY #2: Using Windows/Ubuntu for logcat using the Android SDK (Software Development Kit)
Requirements:
A computer running Windows/Linux or other distros
The Android SDK must be installed: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Android USB cable (for connecting the phone to the computer)
An Internet connection
Advantages:
Allows debugging using the computer for more accurate findings
Allows logging much better than the method in Terminal Emulator
Ubuntu allows live copy/paste in its Terminal so there is no need to save a log.txt file
Disadvantages:
It uses the Internet to download the required packages
You need a USB cable to connect the phone
If the USB cable/port is malfunctioning logcat will not work
This is more complex than the phone method as it requires you to set a path in Windows's environment and in Ubuntu's .bashrc if you want to be able to use it in the Terminal/Command Prompt at any time.
Steps for Windows:
Launch the Android SDK Manager in
Code:
32-bit Windows:
C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\SDK Manager.exe
64-bit Windows:
C:\Program Files(x86\Android\android-sdk\SDK Manager.exe
Wait for it to finishing loading all the repositories
Install the Android SDK platform-tools and let it finish its install
You have now installed the Android SDK's Platform Tools, which is in
Code:
C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools
and it contains the Android Debug Bridge (adb.exe), which fits this description:
The adb tool has moved to platform-tools.
If you don't see this directory in your SDK, launch the SDK (execute the android tool) and install "Android SDK Platform-tools"
Please also update your PATH environment variable to include the platform-tools/ directory, so you can execute adb from any location.
Click to collapse
To test whether adb will work, run Command Prompt and go to the folder described above , respective for 32 and 64-bit.
Run:
Code:
adb logcat
and if it works, the same crazy code will be there

Check out this thread if you want to learn about basic Android terms & acronyms & also about the hardware terminologies / arcronyms: Android Definitions & Terms
Q. Does Galaxy R have a locked Boot loader?
No, it isn’t locked and you can flash custom ROMS & Kernels, but do read the terms and conditions & instructions before rooting/ flashing as it can void your warranty.
But there’s a workaround to unroot it & flash it back to the stock ROM & kernel to give it for repairs. Gather all the information required before rooting and root it only after you are confident of rooting it as its better be safe than sorry and brick your Galaxy R.
Q. WTH my Galaxy R shows only 4GB internal memory free? Samsung fooled me!

Yes it does but you’ll have to buy the cable separately. Galaxy R supports connecting Pen Drives, Mouse, Keyboards & Card Readers.
Q. Does Galaxy R support MHL?
The TEGRA 2 chipset does support MHL natively, but Samsung has disabled it due to unknown reasons, so hang in there till our devs find a solution/mod for enabling it.
Q. Does Galaxy R support Video Calling using the front camera?
Yes it does. You can video call using a 3G network or without costing a dime by using free apps like Skype, Fring, V-Tok, etc.
Q. Does Galaxy R support multi-touch?
Yes it does & has up to 5 finger multi-touch support.
Q. Which sensors does Galaxy R have?

Dictating & saving notes / memo.
Navigating/Asking for directions using Maps.
Search the Web, go to any website.
Playing Radio & Settting Alarm.
Update Facebook & Twitter status.
Open any app.
Record your voice.
Checking your schedule.
Q. I can’t get a proper figure for my 3G/2G data usage on my network using any app from the market or elsewhere!
Yes it’s a known issue for devices on stock kernel. It can be solved by using ardatdat’s kernel as it has a fix for that or wait hoping that Samsung solves it in the next update.
Q. Does Galaxy R have any freebie Apps & Games from Samsung?
Yes it does ! There are so many available just go to Samsung Apps(Application) in your Galaxy R to get the full list. Specifically Modern Combat 3(by Gameloft) & Dead Space(by EA) are available for free.
Q. Can I retrieve my Galaxy R & protect my personal data if God forbid it’s lost?
Yes, you can but it depends on many variable factors to get a lock and use all the available features. It natively supports it by using Samsung Dive to:
Track your mobile.
Ring your mobile.
Send an SMS if the SIM is changed to a pre-defined number.
Erase all your Personal Data on the mobile.
Q. My Galaxy R has freezed/hanged ( It’s mostly due your antics or some app specific bug and not due to the device’s fault as it normally does not hang even on heavy usage ) What to do?
Hold the power button for more than 7 secs and it should automatically restart.
Q. Can I flash Custom ROMs?
Yes you can use Odin or ClockWorkMod(CWM) to flash them but beware you can lose your warranty.
Q. Does flashing increment my counter?
Yes & No. Wondering how both are possible? If you flash using Odin then it increments your counter but if you flash using CWM packages it doesn’t, so it depends on the method you use. But flashing a rooted / custom kernel will increase your counter even if you flash it using CWM.
Q. My device is DEAD & shows APX mode driver required on connecting to my PC! What to do?
You are lucky! Here’s a solution to it. Head to => LINK
Q. My device is not being detected on being connected to my PC but I can charge it via the wall / normal charger ! What to do?
First of all check if you have the latest Samsung Kies software installed as it also installs the latest Samsung USB drivers along with it which are required to connect your device to the PC. If they are installed & still your PC doesn't detect the device then you probably have corrupted drivers. To resolve this follow these steps: Uninstall Samsung Kies / Samsung USB drivers currently installed => Restart your PC => Reinstall Samsung Kies / Samsung USB drivers.
Q. I can't charge my device & my device is not being detected after connecting to my PC & Odin is not detecting my device ! What to do?
(The solution is valid only if you are experiencing all of the above conditions simultaneously)
Checkout this thread which could help you: => [Partial Fix] Galaxy R not getting detected on PC nor charging via a charger.
Q. I didn't backup my /efs folder and my IMEI is messed up ! Is there any way I could recover my IMEI number ?
There is a GUIDE to recover your IMEI for Samsung Galaxy S2, as being from the same manufacturer there is a chance that it may work but there is not guarantee that it'll work, you are going to use it completely at your own risk (it may hard brick your handset). I am not aware if any member was able to recover Galaxy R's IMEI using this method.
So if you willing to take the risk then Head To => Thread & do tell us if were successful in recovering your IMEI by following a particular procedure.
Q. Which Custom ROMs are available for Galaxy R?
Infected ROM v2[2.3.6][ZSLE5]
TitaniumS ROM v2.1[2.3.6]

GALAXY R KNOWN BUGS & SOLUTIONS:
3G / 2G Mobile Data count applications don't function correctly.
Can be solved by using a custom kernel which has this bug fixed.
Date & Time of the handset changes randomly even when it's set to update automatically according to the network.
Go to Settings => Date & Time => Uncheck & then Recheck 'Automatic' to re-sync with your carrier's / service provider's time & date. No known solution which permanently resolves the issue.
The person at the other end can't hear you at all / Headset Jack bug
Sometimes after unplugging your headset you experience problems while making a call, usually a reboot solves the problem but sometimes it doesn't. It can be identified by the following symptoms: When you're making a call, the person at the other end can't hear your voice but you can hear them clearly / you pick up the call then you can't hear any voice & the person can't hear you either.
It's most probably a software bug as the handset thinks the headset is still attached to the handset & routes the call as if it were being made when a headset would have been connected. But in some cases it could also be due to a hardware problem i.e a faulty 3.5mm headset jack.
To confirm if this is the problem you are facing:
- Plug in Samsung's headset & make a call to check if you can communicate / talk with the person at the other end normally & without any problem.
- If you can talk normally then it's confirmed that it's due to a software bug if not then it could be due faulty 3.5 mm jack.
To resolve it:
- Update your firmware to the latest version available even though it may not be for your region as it could have possible fixes. i.e (ZSLE5 / ZSLE6 / Latest firmware of any region)
- Plug in & out the headset a couple of times while playing music till it gets resolved i.e when the firmware understands that the headset has been removed & then it'll work normally.
- You can also take it to a service center where they could replace the headphone jack & may also reflash the stock firmware which should resolve the problem if it's due to a faulty 3.5mm headset jack.

Thanks I'll update it in the FAQ but it'll be only Titanium specific.
But if there's a universal method for all the ROMs and even on rooted stock it would be more helpful.
Capturing screen shot.
Hi,
We can capture the screen by pressing power and home button at a time, can you please add this.

Possible reasons
1) Your camera shutter sound is silent
2) There's a setting which allows silencing of camera shutter
3) Build.prop tweak

Root procedures in following post.
Useful Information and Root Procedure
Driver links and support files
Explay Russia
Note that everything is in the Russian language. Use Google Chrome.
1. Program for flashing. This looks similar to Kies program for Samsung devices. As the factory ROMs appear to be img files, this is required to flash them. The PDF file can be translated via Google Translate.
2. Original Firmware (ROM) version 1.01
3. Drivers for Win8 and all other previous versions.
Root Procedure
1. Go ahead and take your OTA to version 1.02 (54mb download)
2. Install your drivers on your PC
3. In Settings/Security select "Unknown Sources" (this is important as you will need to install an APK manually)
4. Go to this thread, and download the Framaroot apk version 1.7.1 apk.
5. Copy the APK to your Internal or External memory
6. Install ES File Explorer from the Play Store
7. Open ES File Explorer and navigate to the location of the framaroot 1.7.1 apk. Select it to install.
8. Long press the word Boromir and it should install superuser and the SU Binary.
9. Reboot Phone when prompted.
Now, I had to install it twice, but it worked the second time. Simple. You can use ES File Explorer to set the /System to RW.
I also went to the Play Store and installed Busy Box.
Compatible Apps confirmed working
Google+ version 3.5.3.42448346.apk
Copy to SD, use Es File Explorer to install.
Ok, so my thoughts on this device.
1. Cheap price for what you get. Good display, quad core CPU.
2. Build quality is pretty good, as the back cover is aluminium.
3. Gorilla Glass (although I'm not quite sure) gets fingerprints quite easy.
4. Bone stock Android OS. No manufacture skins!
As the device is primarily targeted in Russia, it only has 2 languages. English and Russian. Although looking at the internals of the ROM show support for 6 languages? Seems somebody was lazy. The launcher appears to be a Go Launcher or similar like Apex. Not many options, so I installed my favorite Nova Prime.
There doesn't appear to be any Power Settings, so I installed SetCPU to get governor control. If they have these settings, then they are hidden somewhere. The device also ships with developer options unlocked.
The phone comes shipped with about 10 Yandex apps. This is the major search engine in Russia. These I deleted from /system as to not use memory/battery. The others I uninstalled.
The OS design show signs of being in a hurry. Or rather the people who set up the default layout. The clock, located on the 3rd panel??? Some app icons just sort of scattered on various panels? Also, occasionally, you get a pop-up in Russian, when the device is set to English. Not sure if it's one of the included apps or not.
All in all, once you root and delete the yandex apps, change launchers, the device is quite snappy. What I refer to as a $200 Nexus! Well, a budget Nexus anyhow.

I haven't tried, but will check it out.
Looks like G+ doesn't want to be compatible with low end devices. Will try de-compiling and see if it can be ported.
Keep in mind Google+ is being replaced with Google Hangouts.

In specs and images it was posted as (will insert image later)

it appeared as(will insert image later1)
and issues with me trying (and achieving some sort of control level) there from
(will insert image later)
varied degree of success working on it gets me to (will insert image later2)
So, I have managed to disable some apps, once managed to get mobile networking connections to the 1Mobile Market and get some apps to work, but not GooglePlayStore. Most of remaining (and new apps) are not in Chinese no more, so I am very hopefull, that with rooting I'll get rid of the rest of them gremlins.
Actual specs (will insert image later3)
The questions to you Gentleman (and) Ladies:
1- Do I have to (must) root the device, so that GooglePalyStore would work? as currently, it is installed, but majority of apps are kicking some or the the sort of errors(unsupported etc), and actual GoogleStore app- "works" via Browser...
2- If yes, how do I (step by step) root it in order to have better control? (what applications( with links please) I should install for such Odyssey and what order etc please!?
3- If rooting, is it possible to Get IE 4.4.0 ROM to install?(instead of 4.1.1)- what will happen to the features of IE analogTV receiver hardware management?
4- Would it matter at all, if device is not rooted, but intended to be installed iGo Primo is packaged somehow with GooglePlay app?- will it work? or will that "modified" app work with rooted device all together? (I already learned, that IE Traffic recorder apps are only available on Google)- meaning not available for me for now...
Very many thanks for the answers and ideas in advance!
Am I wrong in believing, that particular tablet is really just a different badge wearing JXD P1000 MTK8377 tablet?
Hardware specs seem to match, as well as appearance/hardware configuration seems ever so similar, is it that daft of an idea to consider rooting and replacing ROM with one, made for JDX device?

Teclast P78HD 7" Retina Allwinner A31 Android 4.4.2 firmware upgrade + root (tablet)

Costing only about $100, the Teclast P78HD tablet is a decent bargain 7" tablet. It has a quad-core Allwinner A31 CPU, a 1920 x 1200 display, Android 4.4.2 KitKat, microSD slot, and micro-HDMI.
It lacks GPS and not pre-rooted. I purchased from TinyDeal.com and added a couple of bucks for faster, more reliable ePacket delivery.
The original firmware v1.1.2 comes with a boatload of (unwanted) pre-installed Chinese apps, most cannot be uninstalled, using up valuable internal storage space and reducing available RAM. The Teclast tUI launcher seems to try to prevent the user from accessing all apps since it lacks an "all apps" circle button. It does have Google Play Store installed along with a Chinese TaiDian apps store. I immediately downloaded the Nova launcher to replace the tUI launcher.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher
General operation seemed quite snappy and the Retina display resolution was clearly noticed while playing movies. I did get the impression that internet web access seemed a bit slower than it should be.
The P78HD is much lighter (half of the weight?) of my Nexus 7 (2012) tablet. Most of the lower weight is likely to be from a thinner battery. So, the downside is shorter battery time and upside is faster full charging.
The light weight makes the P78HD more comfortable for extended use than the Nexus 7. That comfort, however, was diminished by the hard metallic bezel edges of the P78HD when compared to the Nexus 7's softer rounded edges. When holding the P78HD in landscape mode, the wider top/bottom bezel was comfortable. In portrait mode, however, it was much less so. For comfort, I would definitely recommend adding a soft case/shell, example: http://gd1.alicdn.com/imgextra/i1/678991471/T2um7tXqJaXXXXXXXX-678991471.jpg
I unsuccessfully tried several links and ways to "root" the P78HD in order to uninstall all the unwanted Chinese apps. There is a Teclast app called Update. One of the advertised features of Teclast is its easier OTA updates. Since a new firmware version v2.03 was just released, I tried to update, hoping that the new firmware would be "pre-rooted". Using the "automated" option of the Teclast Update app, I got an error (in bad English) that basically said that the file could not be found.
I then searched for a link to download new firmware in order to use the Teclast Update "manual update" option. The downloaded v2.03 firmware ( http://dl.dbank.com/c0ckts308s ) comes packaged in RAR format. I used Windows 7Zip to unpack the *.rar file and extracted the actual *.img file. I also repacked the package as a new *.zip file. I copied the *.rar, *.zip, and *.img files to the P78HD's internal sdcard root directory. Unfortunately, even the "manual update" option just gave a failure message when trying to update using the *.rar, *.zip, or *.img file as source. My experience suggests that the Teclast "Update" app is simply broken, at least for firmware updates.
Next method, try the Allwinner PhoenixSuit Windows software included in the downloaded RAR package. The MSI install program is in the Chinese language but you can probably guess how it works. If not, here is a (not tested) English version: http://itead.me/ITEADDownload/software/PhoenixSuit_EN.msi
I started the PhoenixSuit software. It asks to upgrade to the latest version. I connected the P78HD via USB and got this display:
I clicked the Firmware tab and entered my source file P78HD(C4A5).img location. It failed. As my programmer hunch, I renamed the file to remove the parentheses and put it in C:\ root directory. This time it starts working.
You have two options: (Y) format or (N) normal upgrade. I wanted a clean start without any leftover bloatware apps so I chose YES.
The v2.03 firmware transfer process starts and when done the P78HD reboots. Everything worked fine.
Upon reboot I note that there are far fewer bloatware Chinese apps. Of course, I have to go into Settings, find the "A" icon and change the language from Chinese to English (top line). Next, set up my WI-FI and add my Google Account. Then add a few apps, starting with Nova launcher. Unfortunately, v2.03 firmware is still not rooted. However, I decided to try Kingo Android ROOT again (it did not work with v1.1.2 firmware.) With the P78HD connected via USB, this time it seems to work but too quickly. I checked using a Root Verifier app on the P78HD. It says no. I then try the Kingo ROOT AGAIN option. This time it really works.
Now as a rooted device, I used the Root App Delete app to uninstall pre-installed Chinese software, users apps and a few "system apps". (For safety, you can use PhoenixSuit's APK tab to backup most of your apps first.)
Next, I ran AnTuTu and AnTuTu X benchmark apps to compare to my Nexus 7 (2012) tablet.
Code:
AnTuTu AnTuTu X
Nexus 7 (2012) 13,309 13,730
Teclast P78HD 20,795 12,790
Using the DiskInfo app, it seems that memory optimization in Google's Nexus 7 is lacking in the P78HD. Ditto for internal storage usage.
As someone who experiments with lots of apps, I have about 300 apps installed on my old Nexus 7. So far, I have less than 100 on the P78HD. One reason is that even by moving from internal to SDcard storage, you have to manage the internal storage space much more deliberately on the P78HD. Despite having 3 times as many apps on my Nexus 7, I am able to keep my internal storage usage considerably lower than on the P78HD. Regarding RAM usage, the Nexus 7 is typically under 50% in use while the P78HD is over 70%.
Bottom line: Google's optimizations on its Nexus line can make up for a lot when compared to better spec'd but less optimized competing tablets. For the price, however, the Teclast P78HD is no slouch in performance or stability. It is still quite a bargain if screen resolution, and micro-SD and HDMI features and cost are high on your list of priorities.

I never had icons disappear but maybe because I don't use the Teclast tUI launcher. I had no problem with the much better Nova launcher.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher
I did decide that Teclast's less than ideal internal memory management required something better than the built-in Android App2SD method used by utilities like Clean Master, SD Maid, All-in-One Toolbox, and AppMgr III. These utilties are only able to move a small proportion of apps to the internal SD card. If you plan to install lots of apps, you need something better like Link2SD.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD
To use Link2SD, your tablet must be rooted and you need to divide an external microSD card into two "primary partitions", (1) one FAT32 (Windows) partition and (2) one EXT4 (Linux) partition. I used Partition Wizard's free "MiniTool" partition manager:
http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html
I used a 16GB class 10 micro-SD card. I made the first (FAT32) partition 14GB and the second (EXT4) partition 2GB.
2GB is probably far more than enough for moved apps and linking used by Link2SD, especially if you go to Link2SD Settings and change preferred Move2SD location to "Internal".
I plan to leave this 16GB micro-SD card in my Teclast P78HD permanently. (The reason: if this external SD is not present while the tablet is active, you are likely to really screw up some links and changes made by Link2SD. Your moved apps may be considered either missing or corrupted.)
Using Link2SD, I can now move almost all "user apps" from "internal storage" to (external) sdcard, apps that cannot be moved by these other utilities. I can also "really" uninstall most of the unwanted Chinese apps that other utility programs claim to uninstall but actually fail to do so.
I am not certain if this is correct, but I tend prefer to use Link2SD's "move2SD" method and not Link2SD's "link" method because (1) links may be more vulnerable to corruption (2) links may add possible overhead that "could" slow things down or use more memory. If this is wrong, I hope that someone who is more experienced with Link2SD can correct me.

Hi, thank you!
I am really looking forward to root and update the FW on this tablet.
Did you also optimized it somehow? (modify of build.prob etc..)
I think there is lot of space for optimization because device is laggy in normal 2D mode, more that my old 1 core 512MB memory phone on Android 4.4. Also kernel is pretty old on original FW 1.1.2, CPU is underclocked (looks like)....
Otherwise it's good tables, screen is great, resolution is ideal for web browsing. I don't play games so 3D performance is not a problem for me.
HD movies are played smoothly and OK
Hi,
I have problem root the device, your kingo_android_root.zip archive is "infected" regarding google drive:
"Sorry, this file is infected with a virus
Only the owner is allowed to download infected files."
I have tried to root over version I downloaded from internet but it doesn't work, it detect that device is already rooted (not true) and re-root is not successful.
Any idea? What version of Kingo root do you have tested and it's working OK?

It is not infected. Rooting software typically contains methods to bypass security so you may get a false positive.
Here's the direct download link: http://www.kingoapp.com/android-root/download.htm
For rooting, make sure that you have enabled "USB debugging" in your tablet's Settings -> Developer options
Connect to a USB 2.0 port if possible and not a USB 3.0 port.
Swipe down from top of the tablet's screen to see notifications.
The bottom line notification will probably be 'Connect as ...'
Click that line and make sure that 'USB large storage' is checked (not MTP or PTP)
Swipe down again from the top line notification may say 'USB connected'
Click that line and click 'Turn on USB storage'
After it is "really" connected, try the Kingo Root software again.
If "ROOT" or "ROOT AGAIN" works, then you're done.
If not, disconnect the USB cable and reconnect a few seconds later. Try again.

Hi,
I have found that I must turn on "USB Storage", then it's rooting really successful
So correct procedure is:
- turn USB debugging ON
- select "USB large storage" in "USB computer connection" pop-up
- >> activate USB storage in "USB connected" pop-up << (this was missing in my previous attempt)
After that, rooting is succesfull!
I have removed over 20 applications and now I have 13862 score in AntutuX. In older fw was around 11000.
There is also possible to overclock CPU from default 1200Mhz up to 1450Mhz. For me, 1350Mhz is max. stable.
So I can finally recommend this tablet, it's great ☺
Now it would be great to figure out how to enable CWM...
Great! thanks for the info!

Yes, those application are always re-installed during the boot because they are in special directory "/system/preinstall"
Uninstall them and go to this directory and remove them forever!
Thanks! Yeah, removed!
So far not bad except some intermittent lag and battery drain a bit fast. Have to use for a few more days for sure.

With Nova launcher installed, everything is quite smooth and fast. 13000+ in AntutuX is more than acceptable for that price
And the screen is really great for web browsing!
I am now looking for more optimization through build.prop tuning.
I have tried enable ART but it's not working, It hang during the boot.

Yes, those application are always re-installed during the boot because they are in special directory "/system/preinstall"
Uninstall them and go to this directory and remove them forever!

If I remember right, when you uninstall pre-installed apps like PPTV by using Link2SD, they are permanently removed.
BTW, I recently rooted my Motorola Moto E (Kingo Root did NOT work for this device). Based on my experience with the Moto E, I changed my mind about which method (1) Move2SD or (2) Linking to use with Link2SD. I find that I now prefer the "link" method and it seems to work without problem, perhaps because links are made on an EXT4 partition.
Some applications are missing in google play store for me, like google+
Do you have same experience?
Yup, the same, I do not see Google+ in my play store

I was able to manually install apk after I copied some missing files from my smartphone so it's running ok now, question is how to fix market generally...
update: I have installed "Market_Unlocker_3.5_PRO_FULLY_UNLOCKED.apk" and set correct Country, clear Google Store cache/data and now I see all apps including Google Plus.
