How to change how my pics from browser and screen shots are save there being saved as png but i want jpg format
I'm sure there's a converter app somewhere on the market. May I ask why you want to do this? PNG is either lossless, or just extremely high quality. Converting to jpg will make it look like junk! Haha

PNG isn't lossless, it just has better compression than JPG.

If you're sending via MMS, its being compressed further, which will decrease quality. Send through Email instead of MMS if you can.

Ok so im porting over some bootscreens and im using photoshop cs4. i was shown how to do this by a friend using layers and copying and pasting the png's into each layer. Im looking for an easier way of doing this cause there are over 300 png's to be put into layers. is there an easier way or not? If so then please post a link explaining how or explain yourself thanks
Download a program like PS called Gimp. You can open the a folder as layers. So as long as the are in saved in consecutive ending numbers ie 1, 2, 3 it will put them in the correct order and all you have to do is save it as an animation and you are good to go.

yeah i figured that out after i posted but im having a problem cause its over 300 png's and when i save it as an animation it doesnt show all the layers or the colors. its all in black and white and looks horrible.
Okay. Start fresh. Open all the pngs in Gimp. If you did anything other than crop in PS it will not play nice. And I hope you have lots of RAM. Make sure you saved as indexed and 256 colors.
Or post the gif and I will fix it.

I got it. So go ahead.
Do you have Google Talk logged in? [email protected] So, I can ask a question.
Is the one red png in the folder by itself the last frame?
I will work on this tomorrow at the office. My computer there has more RAM. My laptop just won't handle it.

Hey sorry got late and passes out. I do have Google talk. Under cbarlan. And yes that is final frame for loading.
if you're coming up black and white for the gif in gimp, you have to change it to rgb then save as animation, then it will ask to index the colors, and give you option of gray scale or color

Can I change it to rgb after gimp layers all the pngs or do I have to change each PNG before I layer them. Only asking cause there are a bunch of pngs. Like 330 of them.
you apply it once all layers are loaded. It does all at once. You can do this with color type, scaling size, and changing hue. Great for theming

Okay. Well, I finished your bootscreen. It's booting and playing. I will email you the zip. Let me know if any problems.
When I send an MMS, it doesn't appear to be resizing the pics, I have it set to 600 in settings, yet the pics that are sent are much blurrier and more pixelated than the originals. Is there something I'm not doing? I would like to send the exact picture. Even before I send the pic, when I preview it, it's much blurrier.
Apparently, even if your mms image is no where near 600, the default messages app still resizes the pic, and you have to install a third party app to send the pic in it's original resolution. That sucks. The messages app should only resize it if it's larger than the assigned limit.

what rom are you on? it may be a problem with that rom. and i didnt change my picture quality. i just insert the picture and let it resize itself
I'd love to see a Big Bang Theory boot animation with sound
So would i. But I'm not sure of the legal ramifications (copyrighted song and copyrighted tv show). Not sure if its possible, but let those more learned than i speak.
did some digging and found this file
xxx.megaupload.com/?d=7K6G40ZR
however i can't seem to get it to play on my phone. i changed the resolution in the desc.txt to 480 800 but i just get a black screen. anyway here are the files hopefully someone can make it work
I'll take this on tomorrow. No guarantees...but I usually don't stop til I get what I'm after
Looking at the one you provided - all the images are .jpg. I haven't done a boot animation in a while but if I recall they need to be .png, and have the naming scheme fast_boot_p_xx.png (where xx is a 2 digit number starting with 00 - in sequence). Like I said - I'll mess with it tomorrow...sleep is too precious to me. Besides, it's my birthday and I haven't even started drinking yet...
For the audio file and theand animation, rename them to bootanimation.zip and android_audio.mp3 before doing anything else. Put the audio file in the same folder as your bootanimation. Make sure both have permissions set to RW R R .Here's the animation...working on my phone. Let me know if there's anything you'd change. Working on the audio now

Download counter is showing 14 downloads. No feedback?
Find HQ intro on YouTube
KeepVid the video
Rip audio from video
Rename audio
Find software to convert .mp4 to animated .gif
Find software to extract images from .gif
Find software to batch rename/resize ~65 images
Create folder structure for .zip
Test
Distribute
Not something I did in 5 minutes - hope I helped though

For future reference, you could try mplayer/mencoder. It would save quite a few steps. I also use imagemagick's `convert' utility for batch image manipulation. Both of these have windows ports, but I haven't tried them on windows, only linux.

Thank you my good man. I'll try those out.
I had all the software I previously mentioned, but haven't made a boot animation since the last wipe of my computer. just a pain to find the stuff to do it again - but i'll give those a shot!
I used a prog called "Free Video to GIF Converter" (clever, right?) for the conversion, "Animated GIF Frame Extractor" for extracting, and iFranView for the rename/resizing
Here's a better one I just made. 300 images rather than 60. use the same audio. Make sure to set permissions to RW/R/R

anyone know why whenever i send MMS to other people, like screenshots, text is soo blurry, that its unreadable? any way to make it stop compression images so much?? im running one of the ics roms..
I use something called Image Shrink lite, look into it.
Sent from Aperture Science. You Monster.
mms has a default/max image size, so no, other than promiseofcake's suggestion
So recently I just noticed that my VZW SGS3 is automatically shrinking images when attached to MMS. It doesn't matter how big the picture is originally, it shrinks it down to roughly 580X435 (252KP). It doesn't matter whether I start in he messaging app, then "attach" the file with stock Gallery, Quickpick, or a file manager. Nor does it matter if I start in any of those apps then "share" it to Messaging. I don't need it to attach the full 8MP image, just something bigger than a tiny 580X435.
My VZW G-Nex shares 1MP+ (1600X1200) pictures just fine with the stock messaging app.
Any ideas on how to prevent the shrinking / enable larger image files to be sent?
Both phones running latest CM10.1 and stock Messaging app.

Might be CM10.1 and build prop. Almost certain mine does not shrink down as I notice no loss of quality in pics sent/received.

Could be that, I was just asking people the same question and no one had an answer.
Only way I've gotten past it is to use GOsms.

My initial hunch was that it's a bug with CM10.1. It seemed to work fine while under CM10, then the shrinking began after upgrading to CM10.1. I'll give GOsms a try and see if that works.
Thanks for the suggestion.

My stock based rom does the same thing. I wish I knew why.
Same, stock rooted ICS. It should be noted if you save the image it is a larger file.

Not on mine.
Let me see if I can explain it better.
Image in gallery is 1600X1200.
Go to messaging and hit "attach" paperclip icon.
Use gallery / QuickPic / File explorer and select same image (or use "share" button if starting in this app instead of messaging).
Before even sending the image, it's already resized down to a ~580X435 (actual size varies on original ratio).
Recipient receives image in the 580X435 image, and it stays that way even after being saved.
However, when I send the same image, using the same procedure from my G-Nex, the SGS3 receives (and can save) the image in the original 1600X1200 size.
For some reason, as soon as it's attached to a message, the image is being horribly downsized.
