Hi!
I bought a used S4 online really cheap knowing the speaker didn't work. Got the phone charged it and heard that the speaker was buzzing with a high frequency.
Rooted it, installed cwm and flashed PAC thinking that would help.
The battery drained like crazy with the speaker still buzzing even with the charger unplugged, and when for examle scrolling a webpage the buzzing got worse.
I ordered a new speaker and replaced it. The buzzing is gone , don't know 'bout the battery drain yet.
But sadly still no sound
Ideas anyone!?
Regards
/Kenneth

Just one... ask on the S4 forum instead of the S 4G forum?

What is up with that? At the coffee shop and played a newsclip fron cbs app with my earphones on. Halfway through i realize through the vibration to my hands and the various people starting at me that sound is playing through both the speakers and earphone. I about died.
These bugs are adding up pretty quickly.
Anyone else having this issue?

I hooked mine up to my stereo and had no problems. Speakers on the TF shutoff and got a headphone icon in the notification area.

I've seen that happen before. LOL People can be so judgmental... (I was actually next to the person and I just started laughing)
Anyway, are you sure the headphones were plugged in all the way? I've had that happen multiple times where they were only plugged in half-way.
I had that happen on my iphone once. Unfortunately I was playing Meco's Disco Star Wars tune on a NYC subway. Really loud. Was getting all sorts of looks and laughs. Talk about major embarrassment.
Is anyone else experiencing a high pitch whine while docked? It only happens when the Transformer is docked.
I noticed this the other day, and if I put my ear close to the dock it seems as though the high pitched sound is coming from the charging port on the dock. I wonder if maybe this has something to do with my extensive battery loss while having it docked. Is this a widepsread issue that others have also noticed?
mine is silent in or out of the dock. A blessed relief as my laptop always gave off a high pitched whine.

Yeah that's exactly what I'm thinking.

My dock is silent.
My dock is silent also.
I have my ear to the TF in the dock and don't hear a thing.
So when you guys have your tablet docked into the keyboard and you put your ear up to the pin connect on the keyboard you aren't hearing a high pitched whine?

I could be an age issue. After about 20 you start losing higher frequency hearing. Store around here that don't want kids hanging around use speakers that broadcast annoying tones in these higher frequencies.
I'm 19 and no whine.
I'm 22 and hear the whine. When I undock the tablet it stops, but as soon as I dock it in the whine comes from the pin connector, almost like power is exiting from the pin connector....not the most technical term and I have no idea what I am talking about, but that would be my guess lol.
Mine whines and the dock battery seems to drain excessively.
This thread will quickly turn into, "How old are you? Haha, you have to deal with the whine for a few more years, suckerr"
If the whine is persistent, swap it. To me, that would be unbearably annoying.

Would try to if I could even get in touch with Asus Support. Weeks and they haven't responded to either of my Technical Support inquiries.
I don't have the dock yet but my TF101 charger makes a whine/buzz sound if you are in a really quiet room.
My dock is emitting the anoying sound. Can hear it pretty clearly
My first Transformer had a prductionfault in top of the panel with some glue all over, no sound and no wifi antenna working.
This one have this ****ty sound and an edge bleed in the down left corners (Picture)
This is really ****ty by ASUS.

mine makes awful high pitch noise as well.
for some reason it started doing that and now the battery gets warm too. I am sensitive to those kind of noises and drives me crazy. i have to call asus for resolution. this sucks, i got it for christmas not even a month old and is defective, by the way the left usp port does not work for some reason. i love my table thought, just with i would wish the keyboard works, anyone else has this problem with a possible resolution.
There shouldn't be any noise at all, considering there's no moving parts whatsoever.
Only found one workaround, and that is turning off 4G.
this post shows how to turn your phone on battery saving 3G mode only.

anyways, back to the problem, while driving home with my new phone i noticed the annoying buzz screech instantly when my phone was connected to my aux jack and couldn't stand it. I looked it up extensively and i decided to take out my car charger thinking that must be the problem. it didn't help at all!
then i noticed turning off data made my phone sound beautiful and the noise was gone! so i figured coming from a droid x2 with 0 problems, it must be the 4g!
i got to work today and my headphones(plugged into my computer) were sitting next to my phone and as i put them on i heard the same damn buzzing!! i verified anytime the phone is receiving data it makes a stupid buzzing sound. i looked up how to turn off 4g, found it eventually and BAM. not a single noise since then.
the faster phone speed doesn't help me at all when 80% of my phones use is playing music/watching videos and all it will do is have an annoying buzz!
now with 4g turned off i can have my car charging and not hear a single thing. if someone can figure a way to shut the 4G up please let me know and i can go back to using it. otherwise ill be on 3g for good. don't waste your money on a ground loop isolator because the problem with the 4g making noise is not the same as your car having a bad ground!(which mine doesn't)
This has been a common issue for 4g phones i think. I came from the rezound and it was much worse over there so be happy its not so bad

all the searching I did (about 2 days of googling) led me to believe everyone was just complaining about a group loop problem that is solved with an easy 13 dollar cord from amazon. however the ground loop cord is for cancelling bad noise coming from your car, not the phone itself.

Nope we decided that it was the phone itself I think and that some were worse than others and it was caused by bad radio shielding

Just about any verizon 4G LTE phone will do this at some level because of the 700mhz band. My 1st razr was about that bad, my 2nd one was a bit better, but all Verizon 4G LTE phones seem to do it at some level. I am not sure if AT&T's or sprint's LTE phones deal with this any better, but just know that your not the only one.
Hey guys, I know the title sounds weird but has anyone gotten the problem of Audio coming out of both headphones and speaker randomly while listen to music or watching a video?
I have a 32GB nexus 5 and I was watching a video and all of a sudden the volume went down and I could hear from my headphones and speaker as well. Just wondering if it's just my device or someone else is also having this problem.
If so, you think it's a software issue or hardware? Cause if it is, I'm gonna get it returned or exchanged asap.
Bump. Anyone has this problem?

I accidentally thanked you. Lmao. Anyways, make sure your headphones are pushed in all the way. They may be in only partially.

Lool. Thanks for the thanks.
Trust me I did that. When i watch YouTube sometimes and put it landscape the audio starts coming out from the speaker while headphones are plugged in. I reboot the phone then everything goes fine but sometimes it comes back again. This was the second time so I am worried whether it's a hardware issue of software. I feel it's software.

Just to echo: I had the same problem whilst listening on poweramp on my headphones, I declined a call by sending a text and all of a sudden I have audio coming out of headphones and speakers. Very embarassing on the tube!
I have restarted the phone and all seems to be good, but Google need to fix this.
I got the Mobile on the day before yesterday, and yesterday only I first connected the headphone, and I experienced similar issue. While playing music through PowerAmp, all of a sudden the volume on the headset gone low, and I heard its coming through speaker also. I pushed the jack all the way in, but the problem persist all the day long. when I put the jack in, it starts playing on the headphone only, and randomly it starts leaking. while playing through headphone whenever I press the power button, it starts leaking, whenever I go to the eq screen on the poweramp it starts leaking. along with that it starts leaking randomly. Today after seeing this post I rebooted and till then I have not experienced it again. Please let me know, did u RMA it? or the problem solved?
If anyone else has a opinion or a suggestion please respond.
On a side note, my speaker volume is terribly low, I didn't know there was a shutter sound exist, until I read from the forum today.
Bump

I have a similar problem with my nexus 7, after buying a new audio jack/ micro USB port assembly. About two days ago the audio just stopped coming out of my headphones and instead plays from the speakers and I have know idea whats going on, if it is the assembly then I've wasted $70.
Bump Galaxy Tab A SM-T550
Same here.. Android 4.4.2. with PowerAmp.
When I'm listening "poweramp" I put to charge the audio leaks from the speaker
Just had that happen on LineageOS 14.1 (based on Android 7.1.2) OnePlus 2
While watching a YouTube video.
After doing some tests I found that it was happening when a notification was received during playback. The notification sound was coming through the phone and after that the media sound was also coming from the phone.
Whenever I charge the Shield I can hear a very deep loud constant humming noise on the plugged in headphones. Impossible to use headphones then!!
Is my brandnew Shield damaged or is this a bug?
I have the same issue only mine happens all the time even when not charging. Think it's a design flaw, I know a few people at work who own shields too and they all have the same problem.
To answer your question I don't believe we have damaged tablets just slightly annoying ones (bug/design flaw)
First off, thank you for your answer.
Happens all the time. That's pretty bad. Unacceptable bad IMO.
Do you have the new K1?
I do.
The strange thing, if I charge the Shield with my powerbank it doesn't make any noise.
So it may very well be the charger (Aukey Qualcomm quick Charger 2) that's causing the problem.
Yeah. I have the K1, it's just 2 weeks old (had it on preordered with scan for months) oddly enough I got an OTA update to 1.3 today and the issue for me has gone entirely. Hope same happens for you.
OTA update to 1.3 ? What's the change log?
