Hey guys, need full CWM backup or TWRP backup. Phone always shows 77% battery state, flash original and custom roms does not resolve my problem. Thanks a lot.
Have you tried RUUing?

Download an original, imo UrDroid, for an easier installation. Same thing happened to me, or try to hard reboot your phone, hold power and down volume, let it shut off and repeat until you are in bootloader -> factory reset then reboot

No! Never factory reset in bootloader on a modified phone! It corrupts the sd card. You need to learn more before you start giving advice, giving advice when you don't know what you're doing is dangerous, you'll damage someone's phone. Plus, he already stated that changing ROMs didn't work. He needs to run an RUU.

factory resetting from bootloader will load his recovery, and, I've tried RUU as well, and I don't think they will work unless you can access your phone, which I don't know if he can, I think I got mixed up with another thread.

You're completely mixed up. Factory resetting from bootloader will corrupt his sd card. You only ever factory reset in recovery. Never, ever factory reset in bootloader. He never said he had problems accessing recovery, he said he needs a backup to restore via recovery. RUU will work perfectly fine, his only problem is that the battery icon is always showing 77%

Do you have this phone? Factory reset in bootloader on an unlocked One XL results in a corrupt sd card.

Ok, well like I said before, do some more learning before giving out advice. I'm not trying to be mean, but giving advice when you don't know enough could have catastrophic results. For example: if this guy had followed your advice to factory reset in bootloader he would have lost all of the data on his sd card. I doubt you want to be responsible for that.

this phone comes to me with deat boot (qhsusb_dload), i erase all flash memory and resurrect bootloader, imei, recovery, etc after.
now phone fully worked, but shows only 77%, shows charging with usb connect, but really did not charge, and wan't startup when battery low. think battery calibration losed after erase.
so if you can make backup on working phone - please give me.

What on earth does doing a factory reset in hboot have to do with getting into recovery? All it will do is bork up the SD.

I decided to try rooting my phone, and initially had succeeded using ROM Manager. Flashed ClockworkMod Recovery and successfully flashed a custom ROM (CM7).
However I decided to revert, so I did a restore of the nandroid backup I made using ROM Manager before flashing the custom ROM.
In the process my bootloader got locked, so I tried unlocking it using Fastboot. it worked, but once I unlocked it I lost everything - including my nandroid backup. it looks like my SD Card got wiped.
Is this normal, that doing a fastboot oem unlock would wipe everything, including the sd card? or am I missing something and is there some way to restore?
edit: curiously, it's still using my previous wallpaper in the launcher. that and the superuser app seem to be the only things that did not get wiped.
Yes its normal. Every time u unlock the boot loader it will wipe everything on your phone including your SD card. It says it right when it ask u the yes or no thing. I think. But its normal. Sorry to hear u lost all your data

Fastboot unlock wipes like others have stated.
What makes no sense is how the bootloader get relocked. Simple put you can not relock the bootloader period on the device it self. Nandroid restore cant do that. You either relocked manually or used a one click root unroot thing from a computer.
Of course unlock boot loader will wipe everything including SD card. But I wonder how you get relocked boot loader when you restore nandroid backup.
thanks for the replies. I don't know if it says it on the screen where it asks yes or no, but I assumed it was ok since the first time round it didn't wipe my sd card.
I didn't use a one-click unroot; although I did hit "Unroot" by accident once in SuperOneClick, but that was before I actually rooted my phone.
Fortunately I didn't lose any important data, since I had most of it backed up before I rooted the first time (I was super cautious that time, got a little cocky the second time round since the SD card was ok after the first time).
Is there a way to recover it?

Guy, do you know a way to recover it. I made the process without pay attention in this thing. I already tried 2 differents recover software, but didn't work. Do you know a way?
I don't know the reason of software, because its scan the blocks even if the initial blocks has been erased.
Thanks a lot!

So I gave my friend my phone and she messed with the pattern till it asked for my google credentials but because my Wi-Fi isn't on and I turn my data off for preserving reasons.. I can't do anything.
Before this I rooted my phone but relocked it so I have "Security Warning, Relocked & Tampered" at bootloader.. I also had a custom recovery which I removed so now I can't do hard reset from bootloader or recovery..
My question is.. Is there anything I can use at this point to start my phone over or give me access to remove the password
Extra details: My HTC One S is also from Fido

Comes down too what he means by "I also had a custom recovery which I removed" since you can't remove it but for factory reset to work you need stock recovery.

What recovery is on the phone now?
Is USB debugging on?
Why can't you unlock it again?

I'm not on a stock recovery and I don't remember for certain if this option is available on the One S, but I don't see why it wouldn't
Can't you just connect it to computer...
Unlock bootloader again
Flash recovery, root etc
Then full wipe factory reset?
Or install a rom and do full wipe that will clear the lock thing too

You don't need USB debugging enabled to unlock your bootloader. Everything is done in fastboot. Not even directions from HTCdev say anything about USB debugging.
Why the hell did u take off usb Debug? Ur only choice will be to run ruu as mentioned above. Pm "football"
Tell him what happened and give him this information
1) what carrier your on
2) what radio your on (either that or hboot forgot which)
3) your country

yes ive read every thread possible..ive been at it for a good 3-4 hours trying to fix my phone.
i tried to flash the miui rom well its stuck at the bootloader. i dont know how to fastboot so i tried well its still not working.
my other problem is that the mtp driver wont install on my computer for some reason i dont even know how i even rooted in the first place.
2nd major problem was that i believe i did a fresh factory reset in the bootloader. so it doesnt show me any files at all.
im still unlocked.
what can i do?? ive been installing drivers left and right for it to show my device and everything, i tried a fastboot so i can flash the rom but nada.

I messed up bad. :crying: I have some idea what I'm doing but I just made a terrible mistake. I was running Viperxl with exernalx kernel and I wanted to try cyanogenmod 10.1. I had a back up of the factory version that was rooted and a back up of viperxl/externalx. I tried flashing the cyanogenmod rom and it was stuck in the loading screen. So I rebooted back into recovery then tried to flash the rooted factory backup I had. Same thing. It was stuck in the loading screen. Here's where I went wrong. I rebooted back into bootloader and tried factory reset without really knowing what it did. Now I have no back up. When I try to mount the sd card my computer says it has to format it first. And to format it, my computer has to clear it. And luckily I didn't just go for that. Any idea of what to do next? I'm stuck lol. Thanks for the help
Edit: Ok it's not really an sd card. All I can describe is it says drive G: and it has 10gb of internal storage(but it it has 16gb total it just says it will wipe about 10gb storage, can someone explain?) that I would have to all wipe out to format. I thought you would just call it an internal sd card but I don't think that's right. I just don't want to wipe anything important

Yeah I learned that the hard way lol. I usually check before doing stuff like that but... no excuse, I just went stupid. I thought it would be bad to format the disk since it wipes everything off? Is the important software on the other drive and not the 10gb sd card? Noob question but I just want to make sure before I make this irreversible
Edit: Ok I put more thought into this and I don't think you would call it an sd card. Just internal storage. But I see you have the same phone so I hope your advice is good. I just need to be reassured before doing anything else

No you absolutely cannot use elemental kernel with aosp based ROMs. It's only for use with sense ROMs. It probably says that in the OP of the kernel thread. You really need to do some reading.

Didn't see this till now. Is it that easy? I thought it took something more technical and risky than this. I read into this for two days straight before doing anything and everything went smooth. And I did back it up. Not sure what went wrong there when trying to flash it because it worked earlier. There's just a few things I'm not too familiar with like the factory reset. And for some reason I tried it assuming it just reset it back to how it came out of the factory. It's all a learning process
I guess you leaned the hard way huh, just remember never to factory reset in bootloader again, only in recovery. And do some more reading, your question about elemental kernel would have answered itself if you took the time to read properly.

Ok that makes sense. Idk why I didnt just check the kernel thread. I was just being lazy. Well.. you're definitely right. I got plenty of reading to do. I just always over analyze things and search stuff too specific which makes asking these questions on threads easier
There's nothing wrong with asking questions. But usually the same question has been asked and answered before, so be sure to search effectively first, it's part of xda rules.
Sent from my Evita
Yeah I understand that lol. I thought about that before asking. I was mostly just wondering if it was ok to wipe the memory to format it. And I explained everything just to check and make sure there was nothing else that could be done. Which I probably could've found the answers myself but it's a bit overwhelming making these mistakes without knowing what to do. Just want to cry out for help. Things always look so much easier retrospectively lol. And they usually are too
All in all I think you did the right thing, you have the right information we need to tackle the problem. You'll find xda to be a great place, it's full of like minded people that are willing to lend a hand when the **** hits the fan.
