Has anyone found any Qi add on solutions for our Note 8's? Happy with any suggestions at this stage for in body or a case that has it built in, else I'll try an add on cards like this behind a case.
Thanks

Looking at the teardown there doesn't seem to be any way to have something in body:
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung+Galaxy+Note+10.1+Teardown/10144/1
And I haven't heard of any case that would incorporate the functionality. I'll be watching this thread though, just in case someone has seen or heard of something. It would be interesting
I've ordered this card and a back case to put it behind. I'll let all know how it goes when it all arrives

I could not wait

a bit above 20£ for a wireless charging kit, very fair imo.
(hope it works)
Mine arrived and I tried it out on my Note 8 and on my GNex.
Sorry to tell you, but this does not work on the Note 8. It detects it, but it doesn't charge. It works great on my GNex under a TPU case though!

That is sad, have you tried different charging plates?
No, I only have one to try for now, though I have another one on a slow boat from China. But I doubt that one will be any better.

Mine just arrived and it seems to charge when the Note is OFF but I get the red cross on the battery if the Note is ON. That said I have to wait till the battery runs down a bit to see if it will really charge as it is currently 96%. I'm wondering if the resistor/shorting trick would work....

Red cross does not mean that Note is not charging. I have the same cross when charging my Note from USB hub. It will just take more time to chagre it.

That's good to hear, thanks for posting. It might work then. I didn't try it with the tablet off, just with my Note 8 and GNex and assumed the red cross means it's detected but not charging. Depending on how slow the charging is, it might still be usable then.

How many mA is your qi charger, and how many mA is your receiver on the phone? I know I shopped around for a 1A receiver for my S4, and it made a big difference in charge time. I am guessing, since the Note8 came with a 2A charger, it will need more of a draw to sustain power while it is on. I wonder if a 1A QI charger and a 1A receiver would still show a red X. I don't think the QI standard allows anything over 1A draw yet.
Any updates?
I understand it correct that it works, but very slow? This would be okey for me as it will be placed on the qi charger over night.
Please check in settings -> status if the charging mode is "AC" or "USB"!

I don't personally have one, but a close friend purchased one and mentioned that it does take longer than plugging directly into the wall. He said it falls somewhere in between using the wall charger and trying to charge via computer USB. (which is slooow )
It is slow
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA Premium App
I'll save the $70-80 and plug it in.
Wireless charging goes at the same rate as charging via USB connected to your computer, and is about 60% of the charge rate of the wall charger.
Does it still work if you have a case on top of the induction back cover?
Funny story I went into my usual Verizon and rep had a blonde moment. I asked him if they had any other charging mats for cheaper and he went to the back and retrieved the inductive battery door and said this is pretty cheap. He was convinced that was all I needed for wireless charging. He compared it to the energizer chargers you plug in for quick charges. He raised his voice when I tried to explain how impossiblle that was lol. Anyways just thought that was a quick laugh.

It will work, but will likely slow charging down even more.
I just brought the cover and the wireless charging pad back to VZW today. Once I rooted and was able to freeze the dock app, all I needed was the docking station to charge.
I froze the dock app because the phone would always eventually go into clock mode (couldn't see the home screen anymore) and VZW said that there was no way to prevent this (other then freezing the app, but of course they didn't say that).
It was cool, but extremely slow to charge and just not worth $80.
You can turn off the dock auto launch in settings, dock settings.

Absolutely correct, I had to bring the Powermat back.
I have the inductive cover and charging mat from VZW, it cost me $100 and yeah it does charge a bit slower, but it's not as bad as usb charging imo, plus I have a cord there beside my bed if I need to use it, honestly the mat n cover is a waste of money, BUT I wanted to have it and none of my friends have it so when they come over they think its neat to just have the phone sitting there charging, but def isn't a necessity to get the most out of this phone, just a futuristic feature I guess, I don't regret buying it at all, I do have to switch the back off before I put it in my shell/holster tho, but I have an extra 15 seconds to do it everyday lol.
I could be wrong, but isn't one of the benefits of this technology that it stops charging when the battery is full? I can get a full day's use out of my charge, then come home, plop it on a mat and let it charge overnight. If I plug it in, it would charge for a couple hours, then sit constantly charging at full for a couple more (bad for the battery). Seems like a worth-it venture to me.
I have seen lots of Qi chargers which only support single position charging (meaning that if you lay down your phone slightly away from the center of the pad it will stop charging), and I think that it wouldn't realistically be any better than just plugging it in since it is such a hassle lining it up just right. Now I have been looking around the internet for some time when I came across this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oaXcJZgmp4
Now in this video, what is demoed at the CES 2013 Qi booth are wireless chargers which are not single position meaning you could theoretically place the phone at the corner of the pad and it would still charge. So my question is when and where can I buy one? I currently have a nexus 4 and I would really like to get into the whole wireless charging thing, but I don't want a single position charger.
You tried searching? I'd like this too and it's the only reason it's keeping me buy a charger for it

Shipping is supposedly fast. Also it's a different seller from the Amazon.COM listing. So it may not ship from China. The order confirmation page says that it ships soon so could come from Canada for all we know.
Every review says the charger produces a very loud beep whenever it starts or completes a charge. Very annoying.
I wonder if its an easy fix like the other chargers. Open and pull the speaker wire. I am not looking forward to some beep telling me that my phone is done charging while I try to sleep.

Been using it at work since it arrived. It works great - the beep is incredibly shrill, especially in an office environment, but it charges quickly and doesn't get too hot.
I will note that this particular charger does NOT top up the battery, so it's not good for overnight charging. Once your phone hits 100%, the charger stops charging, and doesn't kick back on until you physically remove the phone from the pad for a few seconds. It's great for the office or any other environment where you just need a quick top-up, but again, not good for overnight charging.

First off I would like to give a big thanks to James for allowing me to be a beta tester for his batteries, and accessories. Received this stock replacement with Nfc, about 5-6 days ago and have been using it since,.. great battery! And if your looking for something to replace your factory battery or just a spare, you can't beat it,..especially for what they sell for! I consider myself a pretty heavy phone user, of course don't go crazy and put the brightness all the way up or anything, but texting, phone calls, YouTube, Netflix, web browsing, I do a very good bit of it. I'll get right down to it and post my battery screen shots with the Onite,.. More reviews coming soon including an Onite extended with Nfc. Thanks again James,..this is a great battery guys! Yeah, I can always buy that Samsung Wireless Fast Charger , its just $69 and if you register your new flagship, they are throwing 30% off coupon codes too. However, my point is, if the they have decided to give away these old generation fast chargers, the least it should do is charge. I have tried using a different fast charge adapter and a Nexus 4. Still blinking!
Anyway, I've written back to Samsung about this one, lets hope they get back. If not, I'll have to take it back to BestBuy and pickup another one!

Too bad that's 30% off 59.99 or less so the fast charger is 10$ more than that code will allow

You're right, never saw that piece. Sammy is desperate to sell off its official accessories. S6 Edge accessories were very inferior, so I didn't even look at the Samsung section this time, straight to SpiGen.
Same issue as you all with the note5. Same Samsung charger that bestbuy gave away.

Same here. 20 minutes of charging then it quits. I'm going to return it to Best Buy. Maybe they'll give me credit towards a better charger. More likely they'll just exchange it for another.
I have same problem with s6 edge plus. I will try to exchange the phone.
