Recent apps menu - Droid Ultra Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone found a app or a way to clear recent apps without clearing them by swiping one at a time?
Also anyone else notice that you have to hit recent apps button two times for all recent apps to show up?

Hey, I have the same problem (the 2nd one) and am trying to get Motorola aware of this issue.
I have posted a new thread in android central - please read my post there and potentially comment for it to gain visibility
http://forums.androidcentral.com/mo...-recent-apps-sometimes-not-order-missing.html
More importantly, this is the official Motorola thread that I started - please look at "runner" first reply
https://forums.motorola.com/posts/48cf5f7f23
I would really appreciate it if you would chime in at both locations just so that we can get visibility for this problem. According to runner, it seems to be something Motorola messed up with Blur because his Xoom doesn't have this issue.

Oh wow. My phone does this too. It's weird. The recently used app goes into limbo or something for a while.

[Q] Apps to Safely Remove

Hello,
I just got my Skyrocket yesterday and promptly rooted it. I uninstalled some of the more obvious AT&T applications but there were some I wasn't completely sure about; so I decided to wait, patience being a virtue and all.
So, has anyone (or will anyone) come up with a list of the apps we can safely remove from this device without it affecting the performance/capability of the phone?
Thanks in advance.

Good place to start on the subject.

it would be a good idea for one the OP's to just add your threads Info in the OP of this thread. instead redirecting them to one NOT in our forum.

About to root

I am about to root my Galaxy S3 but have noticed that I am not allowed to post to the forum where this is supported (I have <10 posts): thread here. As a long time developer I understand the logic of keeping noobs out of a development forum and yet I hope if I run into a problem, I can quickly get access to this support thread.
Moderators can I ask for a bump to the dev thread if I run into problems?
I am not of the nature to post 10 times just for access (I am busy and no one wants to read posts that aren't truly useful). I guess that will teach me for posting my s3 threads on other websites.
im in your position too i have to post 10 times..u probably wont have problems with rooting..but you never know
I've learned to never presume. Nothing like that gut-helpless feeling when a device doesn't boot.
I'd hop on #verizons3 on freenode for some quick help since the 10 post thing is a current limit
Or if you run into problems you could post it here in the Q/A.

Thank you both - good suggestions. I won't fret it.

If you do run in to problems, we can all try and help you. If you have a problem, generally you can just post in the general area. You'll get to 10 posts soon enough. :good:
I did the no flash method and worked like a charm. I've actually done it twice now.

My Galaxy S3 replacement comes today. I'll boot this new one in prayer that if fixes the reception issues my current one has compared with the Droid X it replaced. I'll root once I've set it up.
Thanks all for your encouragement.
Just an update. Rooted using the no flash method mentioned above and all went well. Did a backup using Titanium backup and got adfree working. I am a happy camper.
Now it will be interesting to see what happens when the first OTA update comes out.

[Suggestion for Rules] Identify users' posts

I am going to receive my Nexus 7 in couple of days and I have started reading the respective forums. I got scared when I saw one of the threads has more than 1000 pages i.e. more than 10,000 posts I have to read to avoid falling on others' mistakes or to avoid repeating a question.
With such thread it is next to impossible to read it and keep the device in the safe side from mistakes which were faced by other users.
Therefore, I would suggest if there is a general Rule in all replies or posts to mention the word [Problem] in the starting of any post.
If this will be followed, it will be easier for users to search for the problems which others faced in a particular thread for a ROM, app, mod, etc...
Hope my idea is clear.
Or just Google search your problem and append xda and your device at the end of the query

The last pages of kernel, rom and tweak releases contain and cover the biggest parts of what's new and what could happen. You're never alone with a problem. Some development sub forums have guides for nearly everything.
Looks the idea isn't good. Anyways it was just and idea.

Hi, I have a cdma based android phone. The model is zte v6700. Purchased yesterday for my dad who had cdma sim. He finds difficult to swipe and answer call. In my note 2 I've installed big screen ID, which allow me to tap to answer or decline. I tried installing this app and still doesn't work. Is there any way to get tap to answer instead of swiping up to accept.

Removing Google Now results

As most of you know, IB Times and Christian Post are the absolute worst sources for Android news. They post completely fictitious rumors without any sources and without mentioning that the past 1010928 rumors they posted were wrong. I made the mistake of clicking on a few of these stories, so for a few months, I've gotten nearly daily notifications in Google Now about Nexus articles posted on these websites. I want to remove these websites from my Google Now completely.
I did some research on how to do this, and Google said to click the menu button on the individual notification inside of Google Now and I can request that no more results from that website be displayed. However, that's not a choice. Instead, I have the option of whether or not to continue to receive articles relevant to the Nexus devices. I do want to receive articles about Nexus devices, just not from these sources.
Can anyone tell me how to remove notifications from specific websites without removing notifications for the subject of the articles? Thanks in advance. Also, I wasn't sure if this went in Q&A or Apps & Themes, so I made a judgment call and went with the Q&A forum. Apologies if it should have gone elsewhere.
Try deleting the offending pages from your Google browsing history. You may have to wait a few days after that for the cards to stop appearing.

I'll try that and see if it works. I thought of it as a possible solution, but figured I'd see if there was an easier way first. Thanks.
Edit: Ok, so I tried that, but it can't be the solution. Apparently I had already done this for both Christian Post and IB Times, and the only history results I had were three IB Times results from the past month where I clicked the link based on the headline without looking at the source first. All of the earlier IB Times visits and all of the Christian Post visits were gone. However, I received a Christian Post notification as recently as two days ago.

I've never been to those sites before GN, and they keep showing up.
I agree with what you are saying... garbage articles that shouldn't show up in my GN. Subscribing!
I would like an answer to this too!
I think I'll just email CP and IB and tell them to stop posting crap. :/

I'm curious too. I keep getting GN notifications for international soccer scores and it says below them that I searched for this team. Trust me, I have not. I don't search for any sports or teams. I went as far as reporting it to Google but haven't gotten a response. I've checked my search history and also deleted it. But they still appear at random.

I have actually emailed the authors/editors of articles on both sites pointing out all of the incorrect information and asking about sources. I have never gotten a response.
Anyone have any ideas?
Bump. This is the most annoying part of google now.

Agreed. I like the automatic nature of GN, but I would love more control over what pops up. Regarding those two websites, I'm sure they're just click bait. They always pop up whenever you search any rumors, so they get a ton of clicks for people to view ads. I doubt they care what they post, as long as people get them ad money.
dont you get that three buttons menu option at the right top corner of the card? i think you can remove the updates from there. atleast it shows me that option from some other sites that i visit on google.
This might be a stupid question and so I apologize in advance, but you do have the latest version of google now right?

Hopefully we get an answer for this I want my android and tech news but it's from a bunch of BS websites
I too hate that crappy news feed that Google now gives. There should be a voting system or report spam/irrelevant option in Google now so that these dumb sites don't keep posting in our 'interested' feed

Yeah. There is no option to remove specific sites any more. We can remove news about a topic, but that doesn't help as I want news about android, just not from these horrible sites.
Alright. Hopefully someone can come up with something.

I guess then Google must be pulling them from a list of most visited or best ranked news item. It just happens to be from these sites. I guess nothing much can be done on the user part

Couple of things I stumbled on...

How to enable battery percentage
If you don't already know go to your device's System settings>Battery at the very top you can enable Show battery percentage.
How to access System settings quickly while on Nova Launcher
Long press the task manager soft key to quickly access the System settings
How to enable developer options
System settings>About phone>hit Build number 7 times to enable Developer options

Funny, but give the guy a break.
Not everyone knows as much about their phones as we do. This thread has the potential to become a database of FAQs and little things not everyone knows about. Thanks OP for looking out for those who don't know as much as some of us.
When (if) more people chime in adding things they've noticed, perhaps add them to the OP. Perhaps even change the title to "GS5 FAQs" etc...

I've noticed numerous bad threads for the S5 regarding either the same question asked multiple times, silly info, or just the multiple of the same thread in general. We currently have 4 threads of Galaxy S5 Developer Edition. Sigh
