can someone help with allwinner boot loop but i have no recovery - General Questions and Answers

hi guys, i bought an allwinner a13 7" tablet online that is stuck in a boot loop. im new to this stuff but i have tried to get into the recovery by holding vol up + vol down + power like everywhere says to but all i get is a pic of the android symbol down with an exclamination mark coming from his guts. i am led to believe that this means there is no recovery on it. the specs of the tablet are:
model: yeahpad pillbox7
7.0" Capacitive multiTouch Tablet PC Resolution 800 * 480 pixels, 16:9
All Winners A13 Cortex A8 .
CPU Boxchip A13 1.5GHz .
Memory 512MB DDR2 ROM
HARD DISK 4GB
Camera 1.3 Mega Pixels
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n supported 3G External 3G (USB 3G Modem)
supported Card type Micro SD/TF Card (Maximum 32GB supported)
USB/3.5mm Headphone
how do i put a recovery on it in order to reset it to stock, or at least get past the boot loop?
any help is appreciated, thanks in advance

Okay, first question is whether or not you are able to access the battery for your device? If so sometimes its as simple as removing the battery and then rebooting after 30-60 seconds. If not you will need the drivers for your device and will need to access the device via adb (there are several good forums on here to explain how to use adb). But you may be able to install a recovery via adb push.

So it is possible to do this however you will need to download the android SDK to access adb and find a custom recovery.IMG for your device. Hope this helps you. If you need anything else feel free to ask.

not with ease, the battery is glued to the screen and i risk damaging the screen getting it out.
if i can put a recovery on the tablet i will be ok, my wildfire s was rooted when i purchased it and i have flashed a few different roms on it using the recovery, so that much i can do but i cant find the right recovery for the tablet to factory reset it,
i have never herd of adb, is that a program for P.C? to be honest, im new to putting a recovery on a device, sorry for being such a noob and thanks, if someone can help me find the right IMG i should be able to do the rest, but i cant find the correct IMG

I'll look for a recovery image for you... ADB is the Android Debug Bridge and comes.included in the Android SDK.... Its a way to perform operations on your device via a PC.... There are several very good tutorials on here regarding how to push files and flash ROMs and recoveries via ADB to your device.... If I can find a recovery for your device I will let you know on here

I restarted the phone and could carry on with the steps. It did eventually root the phone. I have finally installed AdAway now and removed ads from all apps! Thanks for the tip about clicking 'Continue' only after phone fully reboots!
This phone is superb in every possible way. Also it has the most amazing battery life I have seen in a smartphone so far. I can only see 3 problems:
The AMOLED screen scratches easily
The touchscreen is not as responsive as some more expensive smartphones. But it works flawlessly.
Its a little too big for me to hold in one hand, but that's only cuz I have a small hand.
Awaiting some custom ROMS for this phone. You think its a good idea to install AmonRa Recovery for this?
Can anyone dump recovery.img?
I have sources synced and I could compile a recovery for this(maybe a touch recovery too )
^ tell me how to do this and i'll do it for you
I just got this phone and its great even the touch is great unlike what ankitrocks said . U just have to disable sceen vibration effect .
People who are having problemns with the rooting process use windows 7 as os
rooting under windows xp or windows 8 is very difficult.
I cannot perform installs of adaway or avast anti theft rooted install even after root , can anyone help me.
And also how do i navigate the recovery menu , vol + and - buttons work but the power button does not select anything.

How to root Lenovo S686

I have Lenovo Lephone S686 with following specifications. If anyone has any idea on how to root this phone, please reply.
CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8225 Dual core 1.2GHz
GPU: Qualcomm Adreno203
Memory : RAM : 512MB / ROM : 4GB eMMC
Found already?
Am sick and tired of the stock....
tried 1-click root, king root, and all other root method and failed...
Anybody knows how to root this? bin4ry method did not work.
Hi everyone,
I found these instructions for rooting the Lenovo S686 from Chinese forums, you can try and see if it works. Below are the instructions which I translate from Chinese.
You need to install a 3rd party recovery, because S686’s original recovery cannot install unsigned update.zip. There are 2 kinds of update.zip, smaller one, about 1-2MB, is for obtaining root. The bigger one is for flashing the entire system. There is no 3rd party recovery for S686, but after looking at some other models’ recovery, I think we can use A765E recovery.
Turn on USB debugging. Connect USB wire. For desktop PCs, it is better to use the back USB port.
Download this: ht tp://pan [dot] baidu [dot] com/share [slash] link?shareid=415868&uk=4130114971
After uncompressing, you will get 2 files, update.zip and Lenovo_A765E_OneKeyTools.exe. Do not uncompress the update.zip. Just put it on the TF card.
Make sure the drivers are installed. Most of the time, if it doesn’t work, it is because of driver problems. You can check whether drivers are properly installed by going to Device Manager.
Installing fastboot driver: without disconnecting USB wire, turn off phone, take out the battery. While pressing ON and VOL -, connect USB wire. Most likely fastboot driver will install automatically.
Run 刷入中文Recovery (Chinese CWM recovery). Phone will reboot 3 times.
Entering recovery mode: Turn on the phone. Red LED will light up, before it goes off, press VOL + and -, hold until Lenovo logo appears. If you see Android recovery, it means the above steps did not work. If you see Chinese CWM recovery, flash in the update.zip that you put onto the TF card.
After this post on the Chinese forums, there were many people saying it works, and many people saying it does not work. I (tangys) could not get it to work with my S686. So either I am an idiot, or the guy who wrote the original post is an idiot. So please try it and post back here whether it works for you or not. Thanks.

hi.from where i can find kernel or some ROM for lenovo s686.thanks
This following method worked for me. Got ride of the bloatware that Lenovo put on there.
got the files from
www lenovohome net/thread-137736-1-1.html
some detailed instructions to setup here
lenovo zol com cn/177/1763_1767961.html
I'm a noob at rooting/changing firmware so took some extra time.
Need to setup the ADB drivers. This was slightly involved as the drivers from the phone ITSELF showed up as not properly signed. So I had to go and turn off the win8.1 check to get it properly installed. You end up with Lenovo ADB Device in device mgr and a few other Lenovo items.
Basically, there's an exe that you run (name has chinese char in it.. so it may look strange). It's an automated CWM installer. My version now shows CWM 6.0.1.5. All the text in there is in chinese.
Lastly, you flash in the update_v2.zip and when done, you get a root enabled , bloatware removed CYANOGENMOD system.
One note: when done flashing and you choose reboot, there is actually a prompt for you to "repair root". I've found that you must say yes at this point. Otherwise, root is not working when rebooted. You'll have to repair root later.
That's the good side. Now the bad side:
This phone only has 3 keys (pwr, vol+ / -) so there's currently no way to get menu button.
There is also no store in the version flashed....no sure how to install any apps
Need to resolve these issues.

Can you get into the recovery menu and do factory reset or anything else??
I guess you've tried resetting via the reset button?
There doesn't appear to be a stock rom available for the GS-918 on the Dopo website, have you contacted them to see if they are able to help?
You could try leaving the tablet on when it freezes until the battery runs right down and it turns off, then put it on charge and try it again, not much else I can think of at the moment

yes i can do everything but it doesn't fix anything :C
and yes, i've tried the ressetting via reset button.
i can swear you there is no dopo GS-918 model drivers or rom in the whole web u.u
I contacted them but they only told me about the recovery menu, and i send them a question but they haven't answered me yet.
((((
now the pc recognizes the tablet via usb, well, it recognized first like vid_1f3a_pid_efe8_driver, then it disappeared and recognized a M3-CHIP driver but with errors (The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There are no compatible drivers for this device.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver, blabla.)
so i think i need to find the M3-CHIP driver isn't?
EDIT:
I let the battery ran out, and now shows me the box that says: Android is upgrading, Optimizing app 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 of 39, but never pass the 7 now, then i restart the tablet againt, and say: optimizing app 20 of 23, but it freezes, then i restart the tablet... againt, and say: optimizing app 1 of 7, i restart again the tablet, and then it freezes in the first logo forever, the end :C
So, i think one of those last applications is creating the conflict
EDIT 2:
so, now im stuck in the system recovery, i choose reboot system now, and again, i am in System recovery , even if i only press the + volume or -, with the tablet off, it boots automaticly the system recovery :S

I think its banjaxed mate, I think your only hope is if the manufacturer is willing to help you, there are no files available anywhere that I can find, the only thing that might have fixed it is a factory reset, and I guess that is not working from your recovery menu?
Is it out of the question to return it to Dopo?
I suppose you could try running the battery right down again, then leaving it for a while and then restarting again, and keep doing that in the hope that it fires up as its supposed to, but to be honest I have my doubts that it will.
Sorry I cant be of any more help.

The factory reset on these models (DOPO/nobis/apex) only re-initialize the data/cache partitions it will not touch/fix the system partition.
Based on the gist of the initial post -- the only solution is to send the tablet to the factory so that they can reload the firmware.
I am in the same boat right now...
Originally I had some file system errors on the internal nand (on APEX GS-918) that caused the boot animation to loop endlessly -- because I had 'USB Debugging' enabled' I was able to open a adb shell
and run fsck/e2fsck and fix it.
But I have a similar problem now (possibly due to adding an option in build.prop) and also disabled 'USB Debugging' and
I can no longer use adb to open a shell during the boot logo.
PS: I hate to necro a thread -- but people need to know that the issue, described, is by-design........they want you to send it in the factory.
When doing a factory reset, any respectable stock recovery, should restore the system partition.
PPS: I do not believe you can install and update in the stock recovery that attempts to write to the system partition.
I believe that can only be handled by using various amlogic tools (such as amlogic usb burning tool, which requires the firmware image that we don't have)

Copy Android OS (Marshmallow),Flash the OS to another identical device

hello..
i have a Bluewave 8 HD+ tablet running Kitkat 4.4.4,my friend also has Bluewave 8 HD+ tablet running Android Marshmallow.
when trying to check for an update for my Kitkat tablet,it says i am currently running the latest OS,no update available(i am sure they have because my friend's tab is running Marshmallow,we have the same Tablet, just running different OS)
Question:
how do i copy my friend's Android Marshmallow OS and flash it to my Kitkat Bluewave Tablet?(no need copying the files, settings, apps etc.,just the Marshmallow OS).
More power and God bless.
thanks,
Jovi
Update:
i flashed my Bluewave 8 HD+(Kitkat-i flashed my tab several times before but same Stock OS) using Rockchip Batch Tool provided by the manufacturer's website(http://www.wavetablet.com/wave8hd-marshmallow/resources/firmwareupdates) and downloaded the Marshmallow OS.
The flashing went flawless and after it finished flashing and tried to turn ON my Bluewave Tablet(with its new Marshmallow OS),the device will just turn on with the lights but no display.tried to poke the Reset Hole to no avail. I tried to connect said Tablet to my computer and it works as a normal(working)tablet, device drivers installed. From Computer, said Tablet is now connected as a Media Player device(before was Mass Storage, same as a USB Stick inserted to port) and i can see the storage info of the tablet from the computer.
Problem:
i want to reflash my Bluewave Tablet back to its Stock ROM(Kitkat) using the same Rockchip Batch Tool but it will no longer be detected by the said Tool( all drivers were installed).
Additional Info:
Volume Buttons- NO
Home(Physical)Button- NO
thanks in advance,
Jovi
Uhm Hey. I'm a bit too late to reply. I did the same thing as you did. Same result no display. But I've discovered that Marshmallow actually boots. I've plugged a mini hdmi to hdmi adapter and I hooked it up to my TV. Touch screen works, everything works except for the lcd. I'm still looking for a solution to make the lcd work.

I don't really know why the lcd doesn't work...Maybe it requires different drivers?
if it requires different driver(if ever we know exactly what driver it is and we have a copy of it),how will you(we) gonna install the said LCD Drivers into the Marshmallow OS?
some people out there might help us?

Yeah. I hope so. I don't really know what to do with it. Kitkat is a really old OS. I'm planning to experiment with it for a while and try to make the LCD work. I don't really get it though why the LCD doesn't work. They have the same resolution and same size.
Have you tried flashing the lollipop one? Does the LCD work?
Hello. I've finally discovered a way to reflash the old firmware back.

You still interested? Sorry for the very late response. I was very busy at school. Y'know 17 yr old stuff. But I had finally time to fix that tablet.
It requires opening the actual device though but don't worry, its only held down by some plastic clips. Then you would have to remove the gray thermal pad and expose the rockchip cpu, nand flash and ram. The Nand flash here is what were after. Right beside the nand flash, there is a flash clk pin along with the ground pin beside it. I've read that the Wave 8 HD+ has volume buttons which enables you to enter the combination in order to reflash the rom. The combination is holding the +Volume while plugging in the micro usb to the computer. The batch tool will then detect the tablet. But in our case, we cannot do that since we do not have volume buttons. So I've researched more and found out that the Rockchip CPU has a MASKROM mode which would temporarily disable the marshmallow rom that we just flashed. Short circuiting the flash clk to ground would enable the Maskrom mode which would then enable us to flash back to the old stock kitkat rom.

Hello
This box started after a long time to freeze on the S912 Amlogic logo.
Today, nothing is black screen. According to you, is it HS? Is it possible to reinstall a compatible ROM or even the original one?
Where can I find this?

If you can access the TV Box via ADB then
Answer to Q2:
Request Stock ROM from OEM
Answer to Q1:
Re-flash the Stock ROM by means of ADB
Thank you for the answer.
I found the ROM to be normally compatible.
I installed Minimal ADB and Fastboot.
And now I do I plug my box into USB and the power supply?
What if I can't switch it to developer mode?
If you have a "step by step" thank you.
Thanks again
