I have the 2750 mah battery in my phone. Bamf 1.5 with the new radio. 4 hours off the charger and it is at 65 percent. Any idea? All syncing is off, screen at 40%, no Widgets other than fancy widget on. This is nuts. I can't figure out what's going on.

Have you wiped battery stats?
I have the same issue. One day my phone goes 20+ hrs on a charge, the next day it drains 40% in 3 hrs, with no significant change in usage. I've swapped kernels, wiped battery stats, kill nonessential apps & services, and I still can't find the culprit. But my extra battery is in en route, so I'm not too concerned
No. Haven't wiped battery stats yet. I heard bad things about wiping the stats on the TB.

I get the same thing every few days and it drives me crazy. You can instal a current widget and it'll show you what the draw is. Normall idle I'm at 38mA. But in these bouts of mystery drain it'll go up to 250-300mA for no reason. And this is with wifi/4G off too. But once I turn it on airplane mode the current goes back to normal until I take it off airplanel. So it's something to do with the regular cell radio...
Its ridiculous. Its stuff like this that kind of make me wish HTC held this back another few weeks.

yeah i have this issue also. today Google Voice had partial waked my phone to 50% battery. i don't get it.
I have seen the same thing, anyone also notice the battery cooking when the drain is going on. I usually reboot the phone thinking an app is hung just banging on the system, sometimes it works other times not so much.
+1 i'm seeing this as well. when its happening the phone gets really hot. i hope this gets figured out.

I had this problem on the BAMF 1.5 ROM + kernel combination. I recently switched to Imoseyon lean kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021404) and now the battery life is amazing. I've been off the charger since about 12:33am (CST) and it is now 12:28pm (CST) and I'm at 52% with average use.
On battery calibration. I strongly recommend doing this if when you restart your phone you lose drastic percentages. I was losing 11% with a restart indicating that it wasn't reporting accurate battery status. I used the battery calibration tool which is on the market. Now here is the kicker that i learned from Droid Incredible days, you have to fully charge the battery. That does not mean wait till your phone reports 100% that means turn off the device and charge until the notification led turns green and start up the phone and let it charge to the light goes green again then calibrate. Then disconnect and use til completely dead without plugging it in AT ALL!! This has worked for me.
Hope this helps everyone.
i really hope this thread doesnt die since this is a real problem apparently quite a few people have....
I didn't read all the post but after flashing a radio you have to wait a couple days yoga week before the battery can recalibrate.

Battery monitor is showing 1350mAh
Wondering if I have a bad battery or maybe that's how it's read? Shouldn't it read 1400 instead of 1350?
I have this problem too... Its because something is not letting the kernal throttle down. Check setcpu and you will see it stuck on the Max speed. The smartass gov is most suspect because it doesn't use profiles
It's just the way it is for now. For the last 2 days I've been getting horrible battery life. All of a sudden things changed today. Battery drain is between 30 & 38 every 60 seconds. 2 days straight of 250-300 drove me frigging crazy.
Thunderbolt - BAMF Remix 1.5
Yeah I have these random cases too. However a reboot fixes the issue. Besides faster than normal battery drain, you should notice higher battery temperature.
I believe it's an application issue, something that we can't tell yet.
Honestly I have high hopes for the TBolt down the road. When Evo first came out, we were experiencing similar problems too. Given time the devs were able to get them solved. This is why I prefer HTC and XDA.
I got great life today. Yesterday was terrible. I'm still getting the large drop in percentages on reboot, but battery life is draining slowly. Something I was wondering is if we lose 15 percent on a drop, does that mean the battery is actually 15 percent lower when I restart? So if my battery is at 60 percent in my task bar, is it actually 45 percent? And if that is the case, what happens when it drops down to 10 percent on my taskbar? In theory that would mean the battery had 0% life. Now the strange part of that is I'm still losing battery from 10% down to 0%, once it hits 0 it shuts off, however, if I restart the phone at 8 percent it won't reboot. So why will the phone stay running at 8% battery, but it will not boot back up after the restart. Its been a long day so sorry if I'm rambling or not making sense. But you know what I'm getting at.

Just the way it is, the thunderbolt technically has a 1350 mAh stock battery.
I saw a thread on another site that says, if you recalibrate your battery once a month it will help... Full charge... Unplug.. reboot...3 times only has helped mine.... Now I Only loose 2-3% of battery per hr...

oh ok. Thanks
I'm just wondering if some other Sensation owners can chime in with their battery stats. I've had the phone for a couple of days now, and with a few battery cycles behind me, I'm still concerned. I do understand the "new toy factor" of using a new gadget much more frequently than normal, but what specifically concerns me is the amount of juice the display is using. With push email on, twitter sync on, auto brightness on, and mostly indoor use, I am finding that I can't get more than 3 hours of Display On time. At the moment I have the following stats:
17% Battery Remaining
9h 5m 9s on battery
Display: 80% (Time on 2h 7m 31s)
Cell standby: 8%
Phone idle: 5%
Wi-Fi: 5%
Maps: 2%
Usage has consisted of some light web browsing, just a few minutes of phone calls, lots of texting / email, and general playing. At the moment, I can barely make it to the afternoon, let alone a full day. Is this comparable to what most of you are seeing or do I have a bad battery? Coming from a Samsung Galaxy S I was hoping for better performance but so far this is far worse ( I used to get 5+ hours of Display On time )..
Thx..
45% remaining
On battery 6 hours
Display on 2hr 10min
Display 85%
WiFi 6%
Cell standby 6%
Phone idle 3%
Comparable to my DHD I'd say, possibly a bit better. Custom roms did improve that though
Funny thing is my girlfriends galaxy s has shocking battery drain, particularly in standby. She's currently on Darkys ROM and I've given up trying to figure why she can never last a day with her phone.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
Coming from a G2 and this phone seems to be much worse. At work I would make it through the afternoon with very minimal usage mostly idle and checking my email on it 8-10 times and have 80%+ left over when I left the office after 9 hours off the charger. Even mostly idle I'm at 50-60% during the same timespan with a 20% bigger battery. Yesterday I was @ 95% and used the GPS for 30 minutes and it dropped the battery down to 60% in that small time period.
My batyery sucks big time... I trained it once - didnt do anything. Still get about 8 hrs between 7am and 8pm. Light to moderate usage :-(
Maybe i should look into finding a bigger battery

I get about 14-17 hours, depending on usage. I'll post my stats later today as I'm at 100% right now.
I would disable htc hub from syncing. It syncs every few minutes and drains the hell out of the battery. I also disable always on mobile data and that helps save the battery when my phone is idle but things that you auto sync might have problems. My .02.

This is pretty much my usage.
I can get over 24 hours pretty easily if i'm only using it for a phone call here or there. This is with Wifi turned on(and wifi calling on), auto-brightness, and auto-synching set to different intervals. Exchange email is set to every 15 mins, google set to push, FB is manual, weather is set to once a day.
If I'm using it pretty heavy, browsing the web, playing a game or two(peggle & plants vs zombies), I'll get typically around 12-14 hours.
For the first few days the battery life in my brand new Sensation sucked too. I was getting maybe 8-9 hours of moderate usage before having to plug it in to recharge.
On Friday night (June 24th), I did a full factory reset through the bootloader, installed Juice Defender and set it on Aggressive setting, and charged it overnight for about 8 hours while the phone was turned off. Yesterday (Saturday, June 25th) after over 18 hours of moderate use, which included many phone calls, emails, some texting, browsing, playing with the phone, and even a little bit of Stupid Zombies, the battery was still at 42%!!!
I charged it overnight again for 8 hours. So far today, after 3.5 hours of HEAVY usage, the battery is at 93%. I am beginning to like this a lot!
Email auto-sync, BT on at all times, some internet radio streaming today and still at 91%. It's been off the charge for 3 hours now. I think that's pretty good compared to my HD2.
I have been very happy with the battery life so far, its better than the battery life was on the MyTouch 4G I had. Can go a whole day no problem, MyTouch 4G couldn't make it a day....
To all you guys that are getting phenomenal battery life, could you check your battery stats and tell us your display usage?
Thx
I will post battery stats later today but battery life has not been as good as I hoped. Compared to the G2x I'm getting worse battery life. Then again, it's too to compare a device that is running a custom rom versus stock.

Yup. thats what i read... maybe i should tell you what I did when I got the HTC Ssensation...
I used it and set it up on that batt level that came out of the box... till it switched off... kept if off and charged it the whole night.. about 7 hours.. unplugged.. turned the phone back on.. used it again the whole day and brought the battery level to about 19%.. turned it off.. charged it again full for about 7 hours... and now i am using it as normal!!
EDIT::: hahahahahhahahahahahaha.. no wonder... I am sorry.. its a typo.. 2 hour and 11 Mins.. well now 18 mins!!!
Still quite decent I think.. with the usage!!!
My battery sucked too but its doing much better (ibwas not worried because the same happened to my nexus one). Always moderatevuse and I get about 16 hours of use and still have about 40% left.
I have auto sync on, wifi off, screen brightness on about 60%.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
This is probably the longest lasting device I've used in a while. My G2X would get me about 11 hours with moderate use but my Sensation will last close to 16 hours with moderate use.
The only thing I have syncing is my Gmail account and calendar. I turned off everything else including weather. I also never keep my display set to automatic since that's just another piece of hardware that constantly has to work. Unless I'm in direct sunlight, my display stays at 50%.

My battery is encouting with the same problem.
what's wrong with my android OS?that it is always cost the largest amount of
the battery.
is it needed be rooted?
this is strenge
when you use your phone with high usage in short time , battery will be hot , but not that hot , i have been seeing battery temperature up to about 37 °C , never seen up to 50 ...
you said 93% ---> 40 minutes GPS + 2G ---> down to 73%
yes , this is very normal , specially when your GPS is on.
GPS and 3G are battery killer.
my phone can only last about 1 and half hour for GPS , about 2 hours for 3G with 95% charged battery.
------------
i don't think it is related with ROOT ....
Use trinity teuv kernel, gave me upwards of 30 hours with moderate use

Nope. With data/wifi turned on (data auto-off since Wifi is active), I lose at most 2% overnight. With airplane mode on OR data/wifi off, you should be seeing practically 0% loss.
Check your battery usage and see what's eating up the battery. Sounds like an rogue app/process that's wasting cycles or is out of control.
One of the best things about this phone is its standby life, as it seems to sip battery juice very lightly.
My battery was still 100% after I woke up today.
Nevertheless it dropped very quickly after using the phone, about 11% in 10-15 min but I assume that's completely normal after 8 hours standby.
I have a live wallpaper but it shouldn't work when is screen off. I also have setcpu set so that is practically doing nothing when the screen is off. The live wallpaper cost only 2% of my battery but standby showed 20%. I have no idea why it uses much in standby...

That means that of the whatever % battery (out of 100%) that you've used, 20% of that drain was due to standby. That's not necessarily bad. So if you have 50% charge left, then it means that (50% x .2)% of your drain was from standby. My cell standby has currently used 23% of my current drain percentage. Since your phone is often left in the sleep/not-active state, then a large % of battery drain happens in standby.
Battery usage on Android is frequently misunderstood. And keep in mind that the 2% from the LWP you used is because it's only displayed when you're on the home screen. Otherwise, it remains dormant/paused.
that's strange that you are having that much usage in standby.. i have been getting a solid day and a half out of my battery and it doesnt really use any battery in standby.. there has to be an app of some sort that is sucking the battery or still running.. i always at bedtime though clear the cache thru storage in the settings menu and end all tasks in the task manager and close all the windows/programs with the far right virtual button on the bottom of the screen.. I am a bit OCD but heck if its working why stop..lol
Area with poor cell reception? If you were in plane mode it is an app for sure.

My battery stayed the same overnight. That is with a x2 battery saver which switches off data when the phone is not used and only allows it as special intervals. I have set at 10mins intervals though which is not a huge saver.
I'm doing a test from yesterday to see how long the phone will last with my use. So far from last night im at 39% and when I first turned the phone on it was at 47% from yesterday.

I would have to agree with everyone else. I only experience 1% loss at most times overnight. Best standby battery life i've ever gotten on a HTC phone.
I actually have full bars at home so I don't think that's why. Maybe it's because it's a new battery so I'll try charging it a couple more cycles.
Lost 8% tonight (86/78). Saw this morning that the signal was not perfect. But wifi went off during the night. That should not happen. Maybe my custom rom is switching off wifi on sleep...

Right.
Battery lasted up to 2:30pm being off the plug from 7 am the previous morning. So a total of 31hours.
That is with tapatalk, a bit of web browsing, a bit of WiFi and google store updating, 2 short phone calls.
The app. 2x was running on mild battery saving, mainly by cutting the data periodically when the phone is idling.
I must say that this is really good and the phone took quite a while to go from 15% to 4% after which it switched off before I noticed it again.

Hi everyone,
I noticed that my One X has been losing about 12% of battery life while asleep for 8 hours (while I'm sleeping). Is that normal? How much battery life do you lose when you don't use the phone? I leave wi-fi on and that's about it. I checked to make sure that the phone isn't awake during this period.
My battery life has been good on some days (lasts about 20 hours) and bad on some days (lasts about 10 hours) with almost identical usage. Any tips on improving battery life?
I went camping and put my phone on airplane most 80% of the time except when I needed it. It lasted me nearly 3 days! Does LTE consume a lot of battery power? Does wi-fi do also?

Yes to both of your final questions. LTE uses a ton of power. I went to the San Jose area where it's only HSPA and my battery was phenomenal. Wifi may drain significantly if "best wifi performance" is enabled in advanced wifi settings.
Check what uses your battery overnight. What process does it say under power in settings? 12% for 8 hours isn't really that bad..

Wifi consumes the least power of all, but like the post above says, if you have "maximum wifi performance" enabled in your advanced wifi settings then it will prevent your phone from going into deep sleep and drain more battery than it would if that option was not checked. Overnight I usually drain about 1% an hour or less (on both CleanROM DE and AOKP M6.2).
I think it's not LTE drains the battery. It may be because of searching of networks when signal on LTE is bad.

It's sort of both. When you have a good LTE connection while using data then it uses up more battery or if you have a poor connection without using data you will use even more battery or if you have a poor connection while using data that would be the worst for battery. But if you are in a good coverage area and not using data then the battery should be fine.
Drain of 12% over 8 hours (1.5% per hour) of screen off time is pretty damn good. Certainly nothing to complain about. I get somewhere around 2.5% per hour overnight.
Phone battery last forever when in airplane mode. The phone radios are a big consumer of power, often second only to screen-on time. Way back, I had my old HTC Tilt2 in airplane mode in a location with no cell service (basically just using the phone as a watch and camera), and it was on track to last about a week (maybe more) before needing a charge.
12% is what I get overnight. But If I turn off WiFi before sleeping then I get around 5% loss so turn off WiFi if you need more battery.

I feel that most people would get better battery with WiFi turned on. It seems the area you place your phone overnight is not getting a good WiFi signal and/or you might have some of your settings to sync or download while on "WiFi Only".
It varies from person to person and it usually ends up being something in the settings, specific apps, and/or quality of connection (mobile or WiFi).
