Anyone else having these problems:
(1) blurry photo's - I have removed the sticker and still get a lot of blurry photos. Sometimes it could be due to me moving the camera but most of the time I try to hold it very steady. I get the issue with HDR, Sport, and Auto modes. I did some research on this and tried chaning some settings but I still get the problem a lot. Some full sun photos look great, but way more blurry photo's than I would expect (coming from iPhone 3GS as a reference). I have these settings for past couple weeks:
PhotoSize: 4128x2322(16:9)
Burst Off, FaceDetect Off, Metering CenterWeighted, ISO Auto, AutoNight Off
Antishake Off (I think this was On and still had blurry photos so tried off),
GPS Tag Off, Review Off, VolumeKey Camera, Timer Off, WhiteBalance Auto, Exposure 0, Guidelines On, Flash Off, Voice Off, ContextFilename Off, ShutterSound Off
(2) edited/cropped pictures (from the Gallery) are saved in PNG format, why not JPG!?!? Did I miss an option for this somewhere?
(3) I use yahoo mail, occasionally I share a photo from the photo Gallery app to email (from the s4 to my email account). After receiving the email, I cannot view the pictures in the yahoo email webpage or on the computer after downloading them from yahoo). Same for JPG and PNG. Windows Photo Viewer says "Windows Photo Viewer can't open this picture because the file apears to be damaged, corrupted, or is too large". In the stock S4 email app, I have the Default image size set to Original. What is going on???
(4) Pictures are not rotated correctly when viewed in Windows (browsing DCIM folder directly from Windows). Is thi camera or Windows... this is frustrating that this type of issue still exists in the camera world with all the sensors.... the image should not need to be rotated! Is there a fix for this?
I did some searching and I see some people have crashes with the S4 Gallery app... I have not had that problem.
Thanks!
Another problem
(5) in the Gallery, if I use "Set As" to set lockscreen wallpaper from a photo I edited with the Gallery edit feature.... it won't set to lockscreen. I wonder if it is because of changing images to PNG???
I tried going into Application Manager and clearing cache and defaults for the gallery.... same problem.
My picturers rarely come out blurry, and I can set pictures that have been edited as my lock screen or home screen wallpaper...unsure about the whole yahoo email thing as I don't use yahoo. And I don't see the big deal of edited pictures being saved as PNG instead of jpeg...than again I'm not a picture snob so I wouldn't know the difference.

I have problems with the galllery it freeze every time it look that now that i change the rom it was fixed. But the camaera is not really 0 lag
Related
Just flashed (yet another) rom and I seem to have lost the 'photoview' app.
When I would go to change a wallpaper or icon I USED to have the option to view with photoview (or photoviewer) as opposed to 'gallery'. The icon for it was the two semi-photo frames.
This is important to me (and probably others) because the 'gallery' takes forever to load and looks like crap because of the accelerometer. ALSO, and this is a big one, when I select a wallpaper through galley it comes in kind of 'grainey' and not clean... as if the resolution is bad even when usung the same picture as earlier.
Any thoughts?
It seems that whatever program I use to view photos, the image is clear but it loses resolion when I set it as a wallpaper.
Is this something in the framework?
i don't like the gallery either, i wish we had the htc gallery for the g tablet somehow. to view pictures i use astro most of the time.
About time Google fixed this stupid pix-elated contact picture sync, cant wait for ICS to come out even more after seeing all these bugs being addressed, Google FTW!!

Large photos
Android now supports high resolution photos for contacts. Now, when you push a photo into a contact record, the system processes it into both a 96x96 thumbnail (as it has previously) and a 256x256 "display photo" that's stored in a new file-based photo store (the exact dimensions that the system chooses may vary in the future). You can add a large photo to a contact by putting a large photo in the usual PHOTO column of a data row, which the system will then process into the appropriate thumbnail and display photo records.
Yeah its good to fix on this issue but it will be better to keep 512x512 display pic instead of 256x256

Agreed 512x512 would be better, at least its an improvement.

I took a couple of panoramic photos but didn't realize that the motion panorama setting was turned on. As such the file size for the photos were quite large (30-50mb). Is there any way to convert the photos to a non-motion one so the file size isn't so large?

Is there no option of "Save as image" or export ?
Can vaguely remember something like when I've done it
No options in the gallery app or in the file explorer I'm suing (Solid Explorer). The motion panorama photo is still in JPEG format.

Try to find the picture/movie from your camera: Start the camera, click on the tiny icon of the last picture you took and swipe until you find the correct one. In that you should see the Save photo option.

I've tried as instructed. The only options I see when I get to the picture is a "more" in the upper right of the screen (options include: rotate left, rotate right, details, slideshow, set as contact picture, set as wallpaper). And on the bottom of the screen the other options are auto adjust, share, edit, and delete.
Hmm... I guess there aer enough apps to remove exif information. Maybe those work to remove all extra info.
Hello everyone,
I found a serious problem together with some users from HTC Taiwan fans group.
How to reproduce:
1. Set Edge Sense shortcut as short squeeze to launch HTC camera (the default);
2. Screen off;
3. Use Edge Sense short squeeze to launch camera;
4. Take a photo;
5. Tap on the photo you just took (on the bottom right corner if in portrait mode)
6. Delete the photo
7. And tell me what's happening on your phone. "Ta-da", lol
Personally I think it's another compatibility problem between HTC and Google Photos. Before v3.2 it's the lag problem while deleting unsynced photos in Google Photos, now it seems Google fixed the lag, but introduced another problem... If you guys have some thoughts, do share down below in the comments.
Thank you.
Update: happens on HTC 10 too if using shortcut to launch the camera.
Me too. I experienced this problem before but I can't replicate it and find the cause until I read your post.
Thanks for sharing.
My phone also has the problem when take the photo then tab on the latest photo to review, however, the screen shows the black screen with camera icon then switch back to camera app again.
I have to tab on the latest photo icon again to review the picture.
Anyone experience this?

Definitely is Google photo update.
This seems like a simple question, but I can't find an answer. Any help would be appreciated.
0. Pixel 4A running Android 12
1. In Chomp (my default SMS/MMS app), when I want to send a picture, I click the small picture icon under Tools to select an image.
2. This opens an app with "Gallery" at the top and all my pictures.
3. The Gallery app has no date seperators or controls to change the layout of pictures - it is just one long grid of pictures.
4. Unfortunately, Gallery seems to sorted by date taken only. As I scroll down, there is no way to tell when a picture is was taken (no breaks between dates). So, when I need to find a picture from last year sometime, I scroll forever - back and forth - trying to figure out if a picture I see was before or after the picture I want. This is nuts.
5. So, I want to stop using Gallery and start using something better - preferably F-Stop (where my pictures are organized by folders, keywords and dates.)
6. My first try was to disable Gallery - however there is no app listed as Gallery, Photo Gallery, Google Gallery, etc (At least I could not find it)
7. My second try was to disable Google Photos (and it sorts by date taken but it has breaks between different dates ) - I disabled it but no change. Gallery still opened as the selection app.
8. My third try was to attempt to change the default app for pictures - but there isn't one. I see defaults for Browser, Calls, Digital assistant, Laucher, Phone app and SMS app - nothing about images.
I'm stumped (but that is not hard to do to me)
Does anyone know how stop Gallery from opening or use a different app when in Chomp?
I use Chomp but don't use it to send pictures, but try this
Let the gallery app open and in the top left hand corner there should be a Recents icon, this should open a file viewer that also shows a 'Browse in other apps' bar where hopefully your app of choice is shown, tap that and you should then be able to pick F-Stop organised the way you want.
You may have to do this each time though
Thank you. The frame in the upper-left corner looks like a broken picture. However, when tapped, it is a search box that also lets me change apps. Thanks again for solving my problem.
