[TOOL] Touch-Screen Recalibration Tool - HTC Sensation

Feeling that your phone touch responsiveness/accuracy is...?
I thought this might be useful for some users.
So here it is, the NBH touch recalibrator tool;
Having seen some users confirm that it does work, I decided to open a thread for it and have it shared.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Download the NBH file from the provided link, and place it on root of your SD Card.
Then boot into bootloader, you will see it searches for these kinds of update/diag tools and detects it; you have to follow the on-screen instructions afterwards.
It is not a bad idea to make a nandroid, just in case...
CAUTION : THIS PROCESS WILL WIPE YOUR DATA, NO BACKUP RESTORATION IS RECOMMENDED EITHER. I SUGGEST PERFORMING IT RIGHT BEFORE BOOTING A NEWLY FLASHED ROM.

Did you know that HTC Sensation was the one capable of running HTC Sense 3.0, 3.5, 3.6, 4.0, 4.1, 4+, and 5 even though official support was stopped at 3.6?! Have you ever seen such an ability in any other device from any other manufacturer?!

How sure you are about that statement? "NO BACKUP RESTORATION IS RECOMMENDED EITHER"
I mean, why is not recommended to restore? Sources?

Well, it may cause boot loop, so you should perform a full wipe as well, then it will work.
Plus, when it wipes data itself, it is certainly based on a known tip, I have not created it, but maybe it does something in data that is to be wiped before.
I have only RECOMMENDED. You may try as you want.

Is this a generic file that will work with any capacitive Android phone that can see an nbh file or only the Sensation? I have a HTC G1 (Dream) that could benefit from a tool like this.

I will try it tonight when I get home from work. I assume I will have to rename it DREAIMG.nbh which is the same as the factory image file. May also need the correct hboot and radio files...

I'm not familiar with the current ARHD ROM versions.
I assume that you are trying to install a GB ROM but appear to have the ICS only Firmware.
Look in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
You can just flash the 3.12 (HBOOT 1.23.0000) or HBOOT 1.17.xxxx
Hey I have the same problem and I tried to downgrade and I couldn't, and I got an error msg saying wrong CID for the 1.17 and mine is a Sensation XE and I was using Virtuous ROM nquisition ROM, Please help me out, I want to go back to my Gingy and it keeps rebooting.

If I get a replacement through T-Mo...

Will it be rootable? I hear there is a new boot loader or something along those lines, would that cause any issues?
No it won't be a problem but you should start gathering up all the tools you need because your new sensation will come with the hboot 1.27 or 1.28 and I just s off my sensation and I had hboot 1.27.0000 I now have hboot 1.27.1100 and it was easy all did was downloaded this all in one toolkit that does it all it will s off and root and super cid I can provide you a link to my dropbox and that way all you would need to do is download the zip and unzip it and open the tool folder and scroll down and you will see a icon that says menu you will then place that menu on the outside of the tool folder and when ready connect the sensation via USB and choose sync mod and click on the menu icon and every thing is done by number's for example if won't to s off press number 1 and it will do just that it will do everything you need it to do

Hello Deiskei
I got a warranty replacement on my Sensation two weeks ago. The replacement came wth the original stock GB installed. Frankly I expected ICS. I simply performed S Off using Revolutionary, 4EXT Touch latest version, then ARHD 1.2.0. Everything went flawlessly.
Have no fear.

I got a replacement from TMOUS a month or two ago. It came with the 1.50 GB ROM and whatever hboot comes with that firmware. I honestly didn't check. I think it's 1.19 or 1.20 hboot?
I left it like that for a day, then flashed the 3.32.531.14 TMOUS RUU (1.27 hboot) that got leaked a day later. Then I used juopnutbear to s-off and the rest is history.
I wouldn't worry about an upgraded hboot either way.

Official ICS RUU, Radio upgrade, HBOOT upgrade

So, the official ICS RUU upgrade is here. I've had some experience with various custom ICS roms, and I found that I love Sense (3.6) and ICS.
Reading the prerequisites and other documentation got me thinking. I hope you guys can answer my questions, or some of them.
1. What does the ICS RUU have over custom ICS roms? I can't imagine anything, except for an updated radio perhaps?
This will help me determine whether I may get the ICS RUU or stay on a custom rom.
2. The prerequisite is having the HBOOT 2.00.2002 bootloader. Plenty links and instructions for backupping and flashing that, that will work.
However, *why* is is necessary to update it? Something to do with the size of the ICS RUU, which leads me to believe that the HBOOT 2.00.2002 is much smaller than my current alpharev 6.98.1002 HBOOT. But AFAIK (in general) bootloaders are quite small..
3. Are the any advantages to the HBOOT 2.00.2002 bootloader? Besides being to install the ICS RUU.
4. Since I'm thinking of updating other parts of my phone besides the OS itself (HBOOT, see point 2) I got thinking about the radio too.
My radio is version RADIO-3805.06.02.03_M
I have very poor reception in some parts of the country where I regurarly am (many weekends per year). Updating to the latest official Radio may give me better reception. Updating to what HTC considers the best radio firmware seems like a good idea, right?
Is this the wrong forum to ask these questions?

Let's see... no need to go the X-Clip route to root your phone, just do an unlock and that's it.
You should do your research first as almost all has already been answered.
1. ICS that came out is official from HTC. That means its more stable, faster, and less buggy from their eyes. And may also be true if compared to other Custom ROMs. Its a matter of preference and ROM testing to see the differences.
2. The untouched ICS ROM also works for HBOOT v2.00.002 (came from Sense 3.0 release, Gingerbread). The HBOOT v2.02.002 (came from Sense 3.6 release, Ice Cream Sandwich) is an updated version of the latter. There maybe great changes, or maybe not. I have not seen any changelog from the net. Based on my experience, HBOOT from ICS does not want the System/Lib partition to be formatted via ROM flash from recovery. But the HBOOT from the GB can.
3. Not known yet. See number 2.
4. Yes and no. Yes, because HTC wants you to use the radio that is included from the RUU as they see fit that that is the best for its ROM. No, because some ROMs or its developers, same as HTC, prefers certain radios to be used, that is if you plan to use custom ROMs. Regarding your reception, the Desire S has already been found to have a lesser or weaker reception compared to other phones. Even older Nokia phones sometimes are better from it. Depends on your area as well.

[Q] Downgrade HTC Desire S from ICS 4.0.4 Sense 3.6 to GB 2.3.5 Sense 2.1

Hi Folks! I am completely new to XDA as well as all the android stuff, I used to be on Nokia before Forgive me if I have posted in the wrong section...
Basically I managed to upgrade my HTC Desire S to ICS 4.0.4 using the RUU on HTCDev.com. Having used it for about a month now, I want to go back to Gingerbread 2.3.5 Sense 2.1 as it is much easier on the battery as well as being much smoother to run. My problem is that from the shippedromes.com site, there are several gingerbread ruu's available, so out of this list (these are all europe), which one do i choose for Gingerbread 2.3.5 with Sense 2.1?:
1. RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_219480_signed.exe
2. RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.8_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_225161_signed.exe
3. RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed.exe
4. RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.9_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_234765_signed.exe
5. RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_199410_signed.exe
To me they all look the same but obviously there is some difference as they have different numbers in their file names.
Thanks in advance!
The trouble is you can't just flash a ruu version lower than the one running on your device (downgrade), because by default you can just upgrade.
See this thread for the procedure to downgrading.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318919
Be careful as you will probably lose your warranty doing this!

Thnx for your quick reply,
My phone is already over 1 year, so warrenty is is gone anayway I think!
I understand the procedure to downgrade my phone, such as changing the HBOOT, unlock bootloader, S-off, revolutionary, clockwork recovery etc. But when it comes to actually installing/flashing the Gingerbread RUU, which RUU should I used? I wan to downgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.5 (the one that shipped with the phone originally) with Sense 2.1. I'm in the U.K, and my phone is unbranded. It is also currently running Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 with Sense 3.6. If you could inform me which RUU I should use from the list in my first post I will be very grateful.
Thnx again
The ruus with 2.10 at the beginning are definitely sense 3.0, I don't know which sense version 1.47 and 1.28 ruus are, but 1.28 will be the oldest.

Thanks alot! I think I will flash 1.28 first and see what it is. If not, I will probably flash 1.47 instead, which should be possible without anymore tinkering as it's a higher RUU.
And I definitely don't want Sense 3.0, I would rather stay on ICS then!
Thanks again for the quick answers!
There was never Sense 2.1 for this phone to begin with. Sense 3.0 is the earliest you can get.
This makes your question, well, void.
Any Gingerbread RUU will be fine.
1.28 is Sense 2.1.
1.47 is the same but with some fixes. I suggest to go with this.
The rest higher versions are with Sense 3, except the ICS RUU of course

Boot Looped :(

My dad asked me to root his HTC Sensation after seeing my HTC Sensation and all its rooted glory... Well his phone had a different HBOOT. Mine was 1.27.0000 and his was 1.28.something maybe 0000? Well anyways so my HTC Sensation was left S-ON and I just Enabled SmartFlash using 4Ext and mine booted fine. His however I did S-OFF and both our bootloaders are unlocked and both are rooted.
I tried installing a custom ROM (same on mine) and now his Sensation is in a bootloop... The custom ROM in question is Elegancia - Sense 4.1 v3.1.0
I feel like it might be because he was running Gingerbread (I believe) and I was running ICS. However he loved the custom ROM I was using so is there any way?

Since the previous ROM was Gingerbread, the firmware would have been the older one. Just update the firmware to the latest 3.33 and the bootloops should be gone (if not try reflashing ROM after firmware update). There is a guide as well for updating the firmware.
Check the thread of the custom ROM you tried to install, it should state which firmware needs to be installed for this ROM.

Hi,
If you want help, then, it is important that you post CORRECT information.
Otherwise you could be given wrong information which could lead to brick.
If he was running GB,then, his hboot would have been 1.18
If this is correct, then, post the COMPLETE hboot page,so that you can receive the correct guidance...
EDIT:
I notice you also have questions in the Help Thread.
Please keep your questions in ONE place.
